  1. If you are on air suspension there are no individual parts available just the complete strut, if on springs the nearside top mount or insulator as it is named is available for around £30.00 part number 48257-50020.
  2. As most of you will be aware from my post a while ago suspension springs can just fail as mine did while parked at the airport hotel, with the state of the roads and road humps they are constantly stressed. It may be that the owner fitted some cheap aftermarket replacements that failed prematurely, question is what are the second set likely to be.
  3. What would concern me is that if it does turn out to be a faulty hose or union and that part is replaced and the gearbox refilled would there be a chance of other damage such as bearings running dry as a result of the lubrication loss which may not be immediately apparent.
  4. Regarding calliper pin grease I have been using Red Rubber Grease for the last 3 brake services and found it very good, it is quite viscous and unlike other grease remains on the pins between servicing. You can buy a small tub which will last ages as it only requires a thin smear. If you are looking for genuine Lexus brake parts check out the Lexus Birmingham shop on Ebay as they sometimes have decent prices.
  5. They are german made 18" Rials bought nearly new with tyres for £300.00, easy too clean and still looking good after a couple of years.
  6. If I can get my 5 metre long, wider wheeled and low front lip imported Celsior in multi storey car parks you guys shouldn't have a problem
  7. The seller has the same username as your LOC username Roy......It is you! :) Put it in the for sale section on here Roy, as a gold member you are quite entitled to do so and perhaps put some bigger pictures on.
  8. Just been out to the shops and on the way back saw a familiar figure waiting at the bus stop. I thought it was my loyal duty to stop and offer a lift. Her Majesty also allowed me to take a photograph
  9. If you PM me your email address I will send you the exploded diagrams of the doors which may help you remove the door panels to access the handles.
  10. I seem to remember that such activities caused the windows to steam up!
  11. I win! Any prizes? Without the old part I think you have very little chance of redress unfortunately.
  12. So futuristic looking, that bottom picture makes mine look like it was designed in the 1990's........oh it was designed then. Looks very nice.
  13. Suspicious, where did you have the MOT done? I would insist on having the old one returned to you for further examination, it does after all remain your property and was requested to be returned.....my money's on "Sorry we have thrown it in the scrap bin and unfortunately the scrap man has already been"
  14. What does the last word mean, can't spell it never mind understand it?
  15. There is normally some sort of indication over time and not sudden failure, either play in the bearing (this is something you can confirm yourself by raising the road wheel off the ground and then trying to wobble the wheel with your hands at the 12 and 6 o'clock position then again at the 9 and 3 o lock position feeling for any play whilst doing so. The other problem is the bearing becomes rough and this can be tested by rotating the wheel both ways and listening closely, although this is usually compounded by the pads catching the discs slightly requiring pad removal. Has the car failed on this bearing or just an advisory? I would gain a second opinion before committing and if confirmed it may be more cost effective to replace the complete hub not just the bearing. I would have thought potholes would have caused suspension component damage rather than cause a wheel bearing to fail.
  16. I would be looking at replacing the battery in the key fob as the first course of action, do you have another key fob to try and see if that works properly?
  17. Recently I've been thinking the same, perhaps a little modification for that V8 burble
  18. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Generally when the 12 volt battery is replaced the engine ECU is reset and then it needs time to recalibrate itself, how many miles have you covered since the battery was replaced as it does take a little time.
  19. It looks like something has been spilt in the past and not cleaned up. I have a piece of wool carpet on my garage floor ( not to be posh, just to save it being thrown away) and have noticed this has suffered similar damage. The AC drain pipe sits directly above the damaged area when the car is in there.
  20. I've replaced mine twice in 11 years, Lexus don't make batteries so look for a branded replacement from the likes of ebay or Amazon generally delivered to your door for free or certainly less than the travel costs to the nearest dealer.
