  1. Good point Mike, not fit for purpose comes immediately to mind,no doubt if we were in the USA there would have been a class action suit ongoing. Maybe those PPI people could be reassigned “Had you car stolen recently? Keyless Entry system? Call us now and get thousands in compensation!
  2. Arrrr...now I understand. By any chance are all the lights out on the climate control buttons as well? If so this is a known fault within the head unit caused by dry solder joints on a couple of components.
  3. Even though the other rear tyre has 4mm remaining I would still consider replacing both at the same time, mismatched tyre types and tread depths on a rear wheel drive car is not something I would like.
  4. I didn’t think the CD changer had any lights being located in the glove box?
  5. You can always spot the fake ones they say LEXSU instead of LEXUS
  6. Do you have a link for the one in Derby? I live and work in the area so could possibly go and take a look at it for you when passing.
  7. Hello Alvin and welcome to the LOC. Sorry to hear of your problems after battery replacement, the main alternator fuse tends to blow on a reverse battery connection but you may find others also gone so check both fuse boxes in the engine bay and under the dash for more fuses that may have failed. If you are really struggling I would be happy to take a look for you providing you pay for my airfare and accommodation, not been to Aruba which I think is the island just off the coast of Venezuela.
  8. Hello Mieszko and welcome to the LOC. Congratulations on your purchase it sounds a lovely car and will certainly prove a lot more reliable than the French make you mention. Feel free to post up a picture or two we like to see images.
  9. My apologies, I referred only to the Toyodiy exploded diagram where it showed the usual disc with integrated drum set up on the rear brakes.
  10. The rear backplates are essential as the parking brake mechanism and brake shoes are attached to it which would explain an MOT fail if they are in poor condition. The fronts are different in that they are covers and removing them would not affect braking operation.
  11. You can buy the con rod as shown below from Lexus for around £150.00, part number 13201-50030 plus you will need the big end bearing caps. Are you sure there is no damage to the crank? Problem with a secondhand part is most people sell the complete engine not parts of it.
  12. Looks like it had a new speedo fitted at some point, also strange how every MOT has been carried out by a different garage when long term owners tend to stick with the same place. Not much detail in the ad for a dealer and the price is ridiculous.
  13. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Care to disclose what you paid for it? A build thread sounds a good idea.....go ahead.
  14. The seals are around €9.00 each x 12 part number should be 90913-02092 from Lexus.
  15. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Car looks very nice, is this the 4 cylinder BEAMS engine or the straight six? Also where are you with a right hand drive model and a sunny looking climate?
  16. You could well be right with the pump motor only running for a certain time to protect it from overheating, the earlier air suspension models had a switch in the boot so you could switch the suspension off before raising the car on jacks but unsure if this is still the case with later models. Good to hear it has now sorted itself out.
  17. Cheers Stuart, it was a cheap and effective solution. Yes Mike, the AA guy was certainly very careful with the car, it was a very close call getting it on the towing dolly with the wheel width as at one point we were thinking of putting the space saver on but it made it with mm to spare.
  18. You can buy custom fit colour matched leather seat covers for the LS400 from suppliers in the USA for around $300.00 plus shipping and import charges.
  19. No, the originals were still like new with no perishing or cracks, the only bits damaged were the concertina bits on the top mounts but I made some new ones from steering rack gators and superglued them on. Top mounts or insulators as Lexus call them are around £40.00 each but there is no listing for the lower bush?
  20. This is the clever bit, the AA fitted some spacers which clip around the damper piston and sit between the top of the strut and the strut top to lift the car off the springs and prevent tyre to arch problems.
  21. My nearside rear broke recently when stood in a hotel car park but I did travel down a really pot holed lane to the cattery on the way there, both sides were down but assumed this was because of all the weight on one spring. I replaced both sides with KYB springs and all is good.
  22. Have you checked in the owner’s manual as these often list the fuses and function?
  23. According to the wiring diagram the front and rear indicators are wired in parallel so if the fronts are working there must be a break in the wiring from the junction connector J7 and earth. Check for voltage on the rear indicator bulb holder ( the green wire with a blue stripe) and ensure the other wire (white with a blue stripe) is connected to earth. If you would like a copy of the page send me your email address via a PM.
  24. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Looks very nice, did the private plate come with it? Date less plates make these cars look a couple of years old.
