Do you have any pictures of the subframe as it would be interesting to see the extent of the rust, my 1994 spent its first 12 years in Japan so was virtually like new underneath when brought into the UK and has since been treated to preserve it. On the other hand my UK 1999 model is a complete rot box underneath with completely rotten brake disc covers and extensive rust on the rear subframe TBH it looks like it was stored in a field! Recently I have seen pictures of sill rot below the rear doors to the wheel arch area on the LS400s, those plastic panels can hide a lot of problems!

Hello and welcome to the LOC. It must be great to be able to drive unlimited on a road, here in the UK it is a maximum of 70 MPH or around 112kmh. Regarding the sat nav I would be looking at the fuses first in the under dash fuse box, you may be lucky and find one blown.Once I am back in the UK I will look up the electrical diagrams for you.

Hello Aamir and welcome to the LOC.

Perhaps a Freedom of Information Request for the risk assessment related to the work being carried out to the council may put the wind up them. Another route if you have the legal aid option either on your vehicle or home insurance policy is to get them to persue the claim on your behalf.

mark levinson hi new member with a common problem
steve2006 replied to phil3370's topic in New Members Area
Ribbon cables rarely just push into the connector, there is usually a hinged clip on the connector which has to be opened first to allow the ribbon to be fully inserted then the clip closed to trap the ribbon in the connector to ensure it has full electrical contact. -
Did the lawn tractor have registration plates fitted? If so it is also classed as a road vehicle and you need to exchange details with the other party or report the incident to the police. You can then write to the council (ignore the online form) addressing the claim to the Chief Executive giving details of the incident and informing them that you are holding them liable for the damage caused by their vehicle and providing a quote for repairs. Typical scaremongering by the council...they may indeed defend 85% of claims made against them but how many are actually successful?

Just checked and the price is about right from Lexus, also comes up as being a green tint so check to make sure the rest of the windows are the same. I have a set of green tinted door windows but not the rear screen unfortunately otherwise you would have been welcome to it. Personally I would go through the vehicle insurers’ as glass replacement normally has no effect on NCB or premiums you just have to pay the excess.Plus the insurer will have an approved glass replacement company who will then have to do all the chasing for a replacement screen not you.

Basically you will need to jack the front end up,get the wheel(s) off and pry bar every joint. As already mentioned the favourite causes are upper ball joint (only complete arms available) and the lower ball joints both these are fairly easy to check with a pry bar used to see if the joints can be lifted slightly out of their respective sockets or there is visual evidence of damage like split rubber boots. There are of cause plenty of other bushes like the lower control arm ones, anti roll bar bushes and steering rack bushes. As for replacements if you can wait a few weeks amayama will supply all OEM parts from either the UAE or Japan, even with shipping and import duty these generally work out cheaper than UK Lexus prices ( the last time I looked a UCA was £521.00!). If you need the part numbers feel free to PM me your VIN. Lower ball joints were £120.00 a pair last time I needed some from Lexus UK, strangely Blueprint ones were more expensive.

Hello and welcome to the LOC. Make sure your battery is in a good state of charge as this can cause strange problems, another possible cause could be the engine ECU.

Hello Jouni and welcome to the LOC. How are you getting on with a right hand drive in Finland, 35,000Km is nothing for these cars some have clocked up millions. You may be able to find a used Sat Nav DVD for your location from sites such as ebay, you can then simply swop out the Japanese one currently installed in the Nav unit in the boot. I understand a manufacturer called Grom produce an interface to allow other devices to be connected to the existing sound system. Regarding the radio frequencies you can also buy an FM radio band changer which will allow the radio to work on the 88-108 Mhz band but this is based on the UK band and yours may be different. For the height control system being aftermarket it may be a good idea to contact the manufacturer regarding a replacement screen. The press button on the rear view mirror operates the dimming mode should you be dazzled by vehicle headlights behind you at night. Finally no idea what the black box above the mirror is for. If you need the Japanese writing on the buttons translating there is a member called Yamae on the clublexus website who will usually provide a translation for you.

LS430 transmission failure - total fluid loss
steve2006 replied to polymoog's topic in Engine & Transmission
It doesn’t sound like the usual intercooler problem with the engine coolant and transmission fluid mixing on this occasion. From a quick search of fleabay the earlier 5 speeds are around £500 but the later 6 speeds are nearly double that secondhand. Never heard of one just dumping its fluid before, I would first be looking at the transmission cooler hoses for splits, if it is then you may be lucky and get away with a replacement hose and refill. -

Over the 13 years I have owned my LS400 import one by one the pad wear sensors have broken resulting in the warning light flagging up after a pad change. Not wishing to fork out the £50.00 odd that Lexus want to charge me I have simply shorted out the wires and tucked them away and carried out routine visual checks on the pads. I came across these replacements from China ( I know they may be complete rubbish but at the price worth a try) They are marked as 95 on rears but look very similar to the earlier model so I am going to see if they will fit mine both front and rears (mine has one on each set of pads not just an axle). Now got to search the bits pot to see if I still have the sensor retaining clips as these are £7.00 each from Lexus ( twice the cost of the sensors!). They may take some time to arrive but no rush as they haven’t worked for years but from the pictures it looks promising. Once I get them I will update the thread as to how they are. If anyone else fancies a try the link is below. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Rear-Axle-Brake-Pad-Wear-Indicator-Sensor-for-Lexus-LS400-95-00-47771-50060/273037988424?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Ddbf6d79da6f142b7b2ac2f83c0427702%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D273037988424%26itm%3D273037988424&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A35ed8406-6264-11e8-8fe9-74dbd1802a25|parentrq%3Aa65a2c711630a9e47133d8e5fffc0c5d|iid%3A1 Wow big link!

Did he not do the needle tips? Are you sure you have spring suspension? The dash display suggests air suspension which was standard on the C-F spec models it should also have reclining massaging rear seats.

Favourite for a hot engine non running is the CPS (Crank Position Sensor) these can become temperature sensitive and fail to provide a signal when they warm up. The sensor pick up is mounted next to the crank pulley, next time the problem happens you could try using a hair dryer on cool blow directed at the sensor then see if restarts normally once cooled down.

They are available as mentioned from USA sellers for around $60.00 a set but they will not post to the UK, if you know someone in the USA who would be willing to order them and then ship them over to the UK or bring them over when visiting. https://www.amazon.com/1990-1994-Lexus-Bumper-Signal-Lights/dp/B019EO1O8E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1526846984&sr=8-1&keywords=lexus+ls400+clear+turn+signals Secondhand sets are rare, it took me a good while to find another set when one of my smoked (even rarer) got damaged and they cost me £50.00!
