  1. I can’t believe it...I literally gave away a 1994 Celsior a year or so ago with a blue leather interior and an excellent steering wheel. It also had 2 new rear air suspension units and the whole system worked fine.
  2. Have you also checked the engine bay fuses, these tend to be a higher current rating and power multiple circuits, a common failure is the alternator fuse usually rated around 120A, this type of fused is hardwired so you cannot simply pull them out to check but the top cover is clear so you can see if the wire is broken inside.
  3. If there are no advisories on the MOT related to these components I wouldn’t worry, Lexus dealers can be a bit over zealous when it comes to parts you may need....brake discs near to the limit surely accurately measured with a vernier gauge and brake pads are a favourite. If you have a decent independent stick with them.
  4. There is, but maybe a little too far out of town with no shops nearby without walking down the hill and then climbing back up?
  5. Good to hear regarding the servicing, Lexus parts aren’t cheap as you mention, a front UCA for mine was quoted at £521.00. I think the later LS models had 2 piece UCAs as well.
  6. OK I’m coming too 1 Yes 2 Me and the Celsior 3 No passengers 4 I like bacon.
  7. Being local and working in the Peak District could I suggest some possible parking areas in Matlock. There is a free one at the Sainsbury’s store but being a Saturday this may 1) be busy 2) upset the supermarket manager unless we all buy coffee and donuts.3) Pose possible bodywork trauma from errant shopping trolleys. Another option is the council car park next to the railway station which is pay and display. The rest of Matlock consists of double yellow lines and traffic wardens but there will be more of us than them 🙂 Buxton I’m not too sure about but happy to look for suitable places.
  8. Mine is Toyota badged....please don't make me park in the Toyota dealership next door and drive 200 yards behind you all.
  9. As I live local to Lexus Derby and they are my dealer is this meet just for ISFs or can I bring my Celsior along ( it is a V8 🙂 )
  10. I can normally access the exploded diagrams but for some reason the parts list is covering the diagram for this model. Have you clamped all the flexi hoses both front and rear? Obvious causes are the Master cylinder (possible turned seals) and the ABS modulator block. I take it that you have freed off the seized calipers?
  11. I was going to suggest the front caliper slide pins but I think the 430 has 4 pots?
  12. Surely it is far easier to slacken off the caliper bleed nipple, fit a suitable piece of plastic tube over the nipple into a container then gently push back the pistons rather than risk seal damage further up the system?
  13. Drop the LS400 V8 in there, you know you want to 🙂
  14. Changing by such a small amount wouldn’t cause anymore stress on the bearings, if you keep the same size tyres you probably won’t notice any difference to the handling and retain speedo accuracy. There are some websites where you can feed in your existing wheel and tyre specs then put in the proposed ones, it will then show the differences in rolling radius (affects speedo accuracy) and how far they stick in towards the suspension and out towards the arches. Another thing to consider is the centre bore, this is normally 60.1 on Lexus cars, if the new wheels have less they will not fit the hub, if over you can fit spigot rings to reduce the bore to 60.1. Finally check which type of wheel nuts the new wheels require, most aftermarket wheels use the taper nuts whereas Lexus tend to use the seated type, using the wrong nuts can damage your wheels and is potentially dangerous.
  15. I can imagine the scenario. “Your front brake pads are wearing thin” “How thin?....the pads have wear sensors and nothing has flagged up” ”That thin the car has failed with a dangerous defect and cannot be driven away but the good news is we have some in stock for only £1230.00 fitted”
  16. Oh goody hexadecimal eeproms, I’m only going as far as FFFF 🙂
  17. There have been cases of the horn wire rivet connection becoming loose on the steering wheel, the airbag needs to be removed to gain access.
  18. Just purchased one of these for €6.95 from the Spanish equivalent of B&Q. Contructed from aluminium and water resistant, amazingly bright with two settings and a red flashing mode. I knew it was quality when the first 3 letters were LEX.
  19. Bear in mind there are 2 coolant temperature senders, one for the ECU (usually has a green connector) and one for the gauge.
  20. I bought a good heavy set from Aldi, they don’t have them all the time but have the car accessory promotoions from time to time. I think they were around £15.00 but they were designed so you can trim them to fit.
  21. Yes there should be a removable panel at the rear to access the filter, be careful if it doesn’t pull straight out I know some models require the AC to be set in a particular mode to avoid damage to the control flaps....seem to remember it needs to be in recirculating mode.
  22. Ohhhhh.... we’re getting a bit closer for a front fender harness tuck and some camber arms for the rear now. Could I ask how much the rear clusters cost? I have a couple of spare sets and plenty of old LED TV screen to experiment with.
  23. Another thing to consider is if you have changed your wheels/tyres to a different size as this alters the rolling radius which can then affect speedometer accuracy including travelling at more than the indicated speed.
  24. Caliper to hub mounting bolts 87lb/ft. There doesn’t appear to be any CD Rom versions of the service manual and the full set in paper will set you back £3-400.00! Cabin filter is part number 37139-30040 priced around £40.00 from Lexus. If you want any more part numbers post up what you need.
