  1. Hello and welcome to the LOC. As you say finding a good LS400 these days is getting harder by the day I’ve had mine 13 years now with one previous Japanese owner. The one you are looking at looks good but obviously go over everything and make sure it all works. You can check the MOT history on the government website for free to check for any fails or advisories. The air suspension does fail so check the car sits level (be wary if the engine is warm when you arrive as they may have does this to raise the suspension if one of the struts is leaking. You should also consider asking the dealer if they are prepared to allow a Lexus dealer to give it a once over before purchase. I’m sure other members will also chip in with more advice.
  2. Take off the engine cover and then get someone to start it in the dark, have a look for electrical discharge around the coil packs confirming tracking.
  3. For the last few weeks the “Door Open” light has been flickering on and off on the dash. Thinking door switches I removed them, cleaned them and gave them a good dose of switch cleaner and the the problem went....sorted or so I thought. Next time out and the same problem was back. I then noticed the rear passenger door wasn’t quite flush to the body and further investigation revealed that the door catch plate was loose. Removed the black plastic cover and found both fixing screws were loose, since tightening no more annoying door open light.
  4. Hello hello and welcome to the LOC. Roof rack if available would probably have to be Lexus dealer, also unsure if there was ever a type approved towbar made for the LS430, it may be worth contacting manufacturers such as Witter.
  5. I was under the impression that it was a legal requirement that the system was checked for leaks and repaired as necessary before the refrigerant gas was replaced or as in your case the new stuff has again appeared to have all leaked out. Was the re-gas carried out by a registered business?
  6. What I am trying to say is that there are many variants of the same car which may use different types of injectors, below is an example of the many LS430 model types.
  7. Your exact model number should be used found on the VIN plate, for example UCF41-AEGPL.
  8. The anti roll bar is just a shaped piece of metal attached to the suspension, the only normal wear items are the mounting bushes and the drop links. All these are readily available and fairly easy to replace. Generic picture shows the basic components.
  9. If the ECT light is flashing I would get a diagnostic check performed to see if there are any stored fault codes which may help you locate the problem. The speedometer is normally fed from one of the 2 speed sensors mounted on the transmission so it may also be worth checking the plug connections and wiring to these also.
  10. After 13 years of ownership with my 1994 Celsior the only suspension problems I have ever had were 2 lower front ball joints, one upper front control arm and a rear spring and I put all these down to the state of the UK roads!
  11. Front Spring LH and RH 48131-50180 Front Shock absorber LH and RH 48510-80131 Rear Spring LH and RH 48231-50210 Rear Shock Absorber LH and RH 48530-80141 Springs around $130.00 Shocks $250.00. Parts based on 2004 Toyota Celsior UCF30-AETGK model. You would also need the rubber strut mounts/insulators etc adding around another $200.00.
  12. Same part number (69130-50060) from 2001-2006 so same part used, £25.00 is a good price considering nearly $650.00 for a new one. Fitting is fairly easy on the rear doors.
  13. Hi I’m back, been on an intensive 3 month training course and a 2 week Caribbean holiday to recover! Based on the UCF31-AETQK C-JPN 3UZFE 6FC model the following part numbers apply for the air struts. Fronts 48010-50130 both LH and RH. Rear RH 48080-50130 Rear LH 48090-50130 All fairly priced at $1260.68 each!
  14. If you fancy a drive to Derbyshire Qamar you can have the one out of my 1999 breaker.
  15. I was also thinking CPS, on a petrol engine this would cause a non runner but with a compression engine the engine will continue to run even with a faulty CPS. The sensors are also prone to thermal failing i.e. the signal is lost or corrupted once it is warmed by engine heat but return to normal operation once cooled down again.
  16. Hello and welcome to the LOC. I’ve been to Bexhill on Sea a few times.
  17. Try calling Lexus Birmingham, they tend to list on ebay at discounted prices. If they happen to have some new old stock springs on the shelf you may get a good deal.
  18. You need to consider 3 points for replacement wheels the stud pattern or PCD, the offset i.e. how far the wheels stick out or in and the centre bore i.e. how big is the hole in the middle of the wheel. If the bore is too small the wheels may not fit on the hub, if too big it can be reduced to the correct size (normally 60.1mm on a Lexus) using spigot rings. Another factor is to make sure the wheels will clear the brake calipers on the front.
  19. First job is to have the codes read, even if the light is off when checked the code should be stored in the ECU memory, guessing the cause is the most time consuming and expensive method.
  20. I know on most models the mirror position adjustment switch needs to be selected to the left mirror adjustment position for this function to occur.
