  1. I would check for any fault codes first, prime suspect is throttle body.
  2. Having owned my Celsior now for 14 years I took it the first time to a local chain MOT servicing place. The car passed with 2 advisories, Front brake flexi pipes cracked and crazed front discs ( this is after spending the 12 years before in Japan and having covered 62,000Kms). For the next 13 MOTs at my local independent these items have never been mentioned and have never been replaced.
  3. Not sure, I was looking through the FB items for sale pages and just came across it, never seen so many IS220d models for sale in one place.
  4. Pipes run continuously rear to front with no joints.
  5. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Pattern exhausts are rarely available for any Lexus model and OEM are pricey. Have you considered a custom made cat back SS one, there are sellers advertising on ebay from around £300.00.
  6. For what good they do they should remove all the speed bumps and use them to fill all the potholes!
  7. Amayama have the OEM ones in stock which are less for the pair than one from the UK.
  8. While you are in there remove the black plastic trim pieces from the edges of the wheel arches ( 4 or 5 cross head screws) and jet wash the arches, use the hose on normal pressure to clean out the arch lips and clean the trims before refitting.
  9. With all the cosmetic plastics fitted to modern cars it wouldn’t surprise me. Does it give guidance in the owner’s manual?
  10. I’m guessing this was a private sale or I would be taking it back to a dealer.
  11. Amazing looking car, could we have some more pictures of the exterior, interior and the engine bay because I for one have never seen this model before. Regarding condition mine was the same on import and remains the same by giving it a yearly underbody wash at a local car wash ( no brushes involved just the underside) and jet washing the arches after removing the trim. Looks a great buy, did you do the importation yourself or use an agent, mine was all ready done on collection so the rear fog was sorted as well as the speedo conversion, by the way how many KMs has it done? Fancy a drive or the planned meet at Gaydon? Not too far from Lincolnshire and would be good to see it in the metal.
  12. It could well be the ECU, it is known that a faulty coil pack left unattended can damage the semiconductors driving the coils because of back EMF. Problem is finding a known good ECU for that model.
  13. Have to agree with Phil regarding the diagnostics by Lexus/Toyota as this should be able to see injector function and pulse times. Does the fault appear temperature sensitive i.e. appears more when the engine is cold/hot or at any time? The coils are earthed at 2 separate points so may be worth physically checking both are good and sound. The crank sensor input can also affect plug firing if the signal is corrupt.
  14. This sounds more complicated to understand than the function of a basic PN junction diode, with electron flow being the opposite way to conventional current flow and electrons falling into holes I have now booked a holiday to Lanzarote to recover and relax 😀
  15. Mine also went down this renewal, I had heard that Footman James were not doing “classic” insurance anymore but received my January renewal quote lower than the previous year so stuck with them. The road tax costs nearly twice as much as the insurance now and I’m lucky to do 10 miles a week in it. I’m probably the only V8 owner who puts £30.00 of petrol in it and it lasts over a month.
  16. I am breaking a 1999 LS400 .....how about fitting its engine in your IS200 😀

    Hello

Hello Pete and welcome to the LOC.
  18. The Celsior has 2 different part numbers available for the windscreen, 56101-50260 priced at over $1000.00 and 56101-50270 priced at $414.00. Not sure on the difference but the more expensive one may be heated or rain sensitive maybe. The UK specification on for the LS430 is listed with again a different part number 56101-50230 only available according the parts lists with a green tint for €549.00 I would think they are all physically the same but have various additional features and tints.
  19. Hi Dave, You can’t just keep joining then leaving every time you buy then sell your Lexus 😀 Only kidding of course.....welcome back to the LOC.
  20. Strange how this is now an “Optional Extra” when it was a standard fitment on my LS400 back in 1994, only reason profit margins.
