  1. Such a very nice offer, I’m on 18s so no good for me.
  2. It looks like it comes in 2 parts, “Shaft Assy Steering “ and “Yoke Sub Assy” Based on a 2003 Toyota Celsior, the part numbers are 45260-50070 and 45206-50010 respectively, available on Amayama. Just put the part numbers into their search and you will find them.
  3. Wasn’t there a recall or problem with the steering column universal joint clamp bolt either coming loose or dropping out on this model?
  4. Just buy some branded leather cleaner and leather cream to nourish the leather, I use Autoglmn products, if I’ve spelt it correctly.
  5. I completely agree, there are certain criteria to be met when parking at night without lights, it must be within a 30 MPH speed limit area, there must be street lighting, the vehicle must be facing the flow of traffic but 5he law is never applied. The police complain of budget cuts but they could make a grand a night in fines just on my estate for parking infringements!
  6. Do you mean the flat weather strips or the rubber which goes around the door and sandwiches the glass? If you enter those part numbers in amayama.com it will bring up the exploded diagram.
  7. It is actually a traffic offence to reverse onto a trunk road/A class road but doubtful if anyone would be ticketed for it.
  8. Fortunately Lexus have now come up with a fix for the wonky parking system as demonstrated below, unfortunately this does not compensate for driver error or a wall built halfway across the driveway 😀
  9. I drive around 12,000 miles a year commercially and very often find myself stopping at supermarkets either to take a comfort break or lunch. Company policy insists I always reverse park which I do but I sit there watching the majority of people who drive into the space and even this can take 2 or 3 attempts from some drivers. I often think if the same reverse parking was applied across the board the car park would be a quarter full. Looking at the last picture in the report it would appear that the replacement car is worse given she has managed to park diagonally across the driveway 😀
  10. Hello Dave and welcome to the LOC. What year is your RX, you profile states 1995?
  11. Hello Ozzo and welcome to the LOC. From past experience Lexus tend to fit wiring looms and their associated connectors to fit the various options available and use whichever is needed for the fitted version. The only 100% way to know for sure is to pull out the existing unit and check for unused plugs or get hold of the wiring diagrams to compare.
  12. It could do but there are website where you can put in the original tyre sizes and the proposed ones and it will calculate the difference for speed errors.
  13. With pot hole damage the camera would be straight out and a claim to the local council submitted for the total repair costs! With regard to your earlier post regarding the door lock problem and the auto lock activating it will 99% be the motor having failed in the door lock actuator (I had the exact same symptoms on my rear door some years ago). You can buy replacement motors from ebay sellers and replace it for a few pounds, the rear doors are easier to remove the lock than the fronts. Door lock removal
  14. Yes, it looks like the high voltage bit has broken down on the insulation due to arcing which wrecked the coil pack.
  15. Hello and welcome to the LOC, please post up some pictures and more details like mileage and where you bought it from.
  16. Are you buying new coil packs? The one you show appears to have suffered from HV tracking.
  17. Might have been because the LBWs were almost new, never thought about liability but always a battle with the council.
  18. Welcome to the LOC, a dedicated and helpful member already. Where in Derbyshire are you, I’m near to Alfreton.
  19. Hello, welcome to the LOC and congratulations on your new Lexus purchase. Feel free to post up pictures of your new ride and a few more details.
  20. Hello and welcome to the LOC. The wheels themselves are either 16/17/18” with a PCD of 114.3 5 stud, this type is used on many Japanese cars but you need to factor in various other parameters like offset and bore. The problem is the tyres now days tend to be low profile like 40 or 45 series which is essentially the ratio between the width of the tyre tread and the sidewall height so put simply a 225/40 tyre has a tread width of 225mm and a sidewall height 40% of 225 so around 90mm. This makes the wheel and tyre combination look small within the arches. Fitting a larger wheel does not necessarily mean it fills the arches more, OK the rim is 1” bigger but if you fit the same type tyre there will be no change in tyre height between a 225/40/17 and a 225/40/18. The only way is to fit a tyre with a higher aspect ratio so for example a 225/50 tyre would give an increased sidewall height to 125mm from 90mm but then you may run into whether these tyres are recommended on the rims. Another option is to lower the suspension but this is expensive plus it will only close the top wheel arch gap not the front and rear gaps.
  21. Having owned my 1994 for 14 years now I have in that time replaced both front lower ball joints and the n/s upper control arm with OEM parts, the latter being wrecked by a pot hole. Car has now covered a total of 90,000 odd miles. Also never had an advisory for any suspension components.
  22. Here’s mine to add to the AA recovery list, in my case whilst parked at the airport hotel for a fortnight one of the rear springs broke. With it being a Lexus it did break down in a safe place and not whilst being driven. The AA guy struggled to get it on the lift with the wide tyres but got us home safely. The reason for the failure was suspected as being the amount of the wife’s excess luggage on the way to the airport!
