  1. Took a little while to remember this one but got it all eventually.....now fancy roast beef for dinner....there again might have none 😀
  2. The old wheels look like SC430 ones?
  3. Noticed a rattle at idle, soon discovered that the near side rear exhaust heat shield had let go of 3 of the 4 fastenings and it was now sitting on top of the back box. Eventually managed to release one of the support rubbers then dropped the bracket off to allow a bit more movement to get to the fixing bolts above the back box. A quick spray with WD40 ensured the 10mm nuts came off the studs without shearing. Fitted some oversized washers then back on with the nuts. Refitted the support bracket and rubber support and no more rattle. The other side was fixed the same way around 8 years ago so has done really well to last 26 years being only mild steel but bearing in mind the position above a nice warm exhaust not too surprised.
  4. Have a read through this link, although for the LS430 I believe the transmission is the same. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-3rd-gen-2001-2006/735311-04-06-ls430-atf-fill-plug-location.html
  5. Excellent and thank you for posting an update, good to hear you now have a good car.
  6. Is it 2 battery cells per battery pack? hence the double the norm reading? Congratulations on getting the job done DIY I applaud you.
  7. It could be but I would imagine the previous owner had looked into repair and it wasn’t something simple like an ABS wheel sensor so chopped it in PX. As you say someone handy with the right gear could probably sort it but with a possible £1000.00 plus for an ABS block you could still be in trouble. Love to see the tech stream read out though.
  8. Yes I took mine from the interior lighting panel using a 12 volt to 5v USB converter.
  9. No it doesn’t give anything in the user manual, I measured what drained out (sneaked the pyrex jug out of the kitchen!) and put the same back then filled until it just dribbled out the filler hole. Just make sure the car is level when doing so.
  10. For some unknown reason Amayama don’t ship this part to the UK but I have found this company in the UK who may be able to help. https://www.alks.co.uk/lexus-89785-50110-transponder-key
  11. Bridgestone Rainsport 3s on mine all around.
  12. This was my £200.00 project purchase a few years ago, a C-F packaged Celsior with all the toys and air suspension. Sorted out the misfire but it had also damaged the cats, too old to start climbing under the car so eventually broke it and let it go for an engine transplant.
  13. Hello Jake and welcome to the LOC. Plenty of mod stuff around for the IS both aftermarket and TRD from Japan.
  14. A good result, please to hear the battery has sorted your problems, shows what a difference a hybrid makes with the MPG figures comparison.
  15. I’m in now 😀 It appears to be a non JDM model i.e. Lexus badged not Toyota and either a series I or II so 1990-1994. The headlights/fog lights are 2 piece not a single unit as fitted to JDM models, the latter of which have yellow tinted fogs. JDM models have no wing positioned indicator repeaters as the outer bumper indicator sections, unlike UK spec models, have bulbs in them instead of just being dummies. The radio aerial is externally mounted on the rear wing, JDM models are part of the heated rear window elements. The inner rear light clusters are also not JDM as they are wider due to the squarer type Japanese number plates. My conclusion is that it’s either a UK car or possibly imported from Singapore. Pictures of my Celsior below.
  16. Not sure if the process is the same but on the later LS400 the ignition needed to be left on for around 10 minutes to remove the security light before the engine would start.
  17. Sorry you are right, I assumed it was a rear calliper as it is only single piston where as I have 2 pot fronts on the LS400, the ring as confirmed is to retain the dust cover.
  18. IIRC the engine bay socket is the same as the internal one, this is to make it easier to diagnose engine bay faults rather than have to keep looking in the car for codes if plug inside the car socket.
  19. This may help or perhaps a call to the local dealer to see if this feature can be disabled. https://www.lexus.com/documents/safety/Lexus-Safety-System-Plus-2_0-022619.pdf
  20. I can’t see a metal ring on the diagram, if you do find it replace it with the new one.
  21. Welcome to the LOC. The old rubber is one piece so just slip it off over the boot lid. Clean all the fixing edges of old crud and treat any rusty areas. Before fitting the new rubber apply a smear of silicone sealant around the lip. Fit the new rubber and join it at the boot lock area.
  22. Hello Andy and welcome to the LOC.
  23. A little more information is going to get you more responses, does it affect all doors or one door?
  24. So you buy it then pay for fitting it, it turns out to be faulty but no problem you can return it for a full refund.....at your own expense.....Nooooo!
