  1. Here you go. https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/about-my-lexus/certificates-of-conformity#hero
  2. That’s the main problem, Apples are OK with music and photographs but not data unless it is apple-ised. It may be easier to buy a secondhand windows laptop with a DVD drive and use that.
  3. I know the guy who owned that on Facebook, think he’s gone back to a Supra again now. Lives down your way I think Qamar.
  4. I bet those £80.00 fines still get churned out should you commit the ultimate sin and forget to SORN your vehicle, they will certainly get your name right on that! They we’re running OK until this outbreak, my brother moved house, did the address change online and got a new V5C in days. The problem now is they aren’t operating but have done nothing to assist in such situations. The MOT has been extended so why can’t the DVSA allow a newly purchased car on the road so long as it is agreed the tax will be backdated.
  5. I’m bending this post a little bit seeing as we have some computer experts on the LOC. I have rediscovered all my Lexus factory manuals on CDROMs but nowadays all my computers are Apple (iPad and iMac) with no CD/DVD drives plus the software differences. I’m looking for a way of getting the data off the discs onto my Apple gear?
  6. You have statutory rights for 6 months after purchase regarding faults and who is responsible for repairs so paying £200.00 to the dealer is a waste of money when they are responsible anyway. https://www.theaa.com/car-buying/legal-rights The fact that they are time pressuring you to take it out says it all really, don’t pay it and use your consumer rights should something go wrong in the same six months. Personally I would wait until Lexus dealerships reopen then get it in for a free health check which will certainly highlight any problems then get the dealer to rectify these, if any, under your consumer rights, especially the misting struts. Most warranty companies will only cover cars up to a certain age and mileage and they also generally insist on a FSH, given the age of the car it may not be viable
  7. The damper problem is common with the “light misting” many have been replaced under warranty because they’re not cheap to replace. Most Lexus dealers will provide a print out for the Lexus Service History on production of personal ID and the V5C in the same name. Lexus UK have electronic manuals but unfortunately only from 2012 for the RX but may help with your sound system operation. https://www.lexus.co.uk/forms/manuals/owners-manual There is a separate section on club for audio but you may get more responses asking on this thread.
  8. Quick question here, when the weather is cold does the transmission go into top gear ( i.e. on a 5 speed transmission does it go into 5th gear or stop in 4th)? Reason I ask is that there is a temperature sensor on the transmission which until the fluid is fully warmed up reduces the hydraulic pressures and locks out top gear to protect the transmission. Another question what is your engine idle RPM when the engine is fully warmed up? Another possibility is a fault on the EGR .....do you have any excessive exhaust smoke under acceleration? This again operates in a closed loop until the engine is fully warmed then comes under ECU control. If it fails to operate when it should power will be down but you normally get excessive exhaust smoke. There is also a temperature sensor in the MAF which affects fuelling ratios, if this is giving duff readings when cold this is another possible cause. Main thing to do first is have a code read done for any stored codes, perform a live data check to make sure all the sensors are communicating and sending the correct data to the engine ECU. Whatever you do don’t start changing random parts as this is the most expensive and time consuming method.
  9. Hi Con and welcome to the LOC. There are things that need checking but these are generally done before you purchase the car. Did you buy from a dealer or private seller, you have more protection with a dealer should defects arise. Service history is a good indication as this normally includes hybrid health checks, did you do an MOT history check as this provides useful information and shows anything likely to cause problems in the advisories section. Main places to check are the air suspension struts known to leak, suspension components as these are heavy cars and hybrid problems with batteries, inverters and cooling system. Feel free to post up a picture of your new car, we like pictures 😀
  10. No problem, the mirror glass is clipped in at the bottom and has hooks at the top. Gently push the mirror glass at the top so the bottom sticks out.Slide a cloth (yellow duster is a good selection) behind the bottom of the glass and bring it out the sides. bring the ends of the cloth together and give a sharp tug. This should release the bottom clips. lift the mirror up to disengage the two top hooks, remove the electrical connections and the mirror is out. Put something soft under the housing in case you drop the glass! To refit reconnect the electrics, engage the top hooks and press the bottom clips back in using your thumbs on the glass, you will hear them engage.
  11. Genuine Toyota here, concentrate too so only need one and mix with water. If you have a dehumidifier use the water from that or buy some distilled.Delivery early next week. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Toyota-Long-Life-Red-Coolant-Antifreeze-Concentrate-5-Lts-0888980014/264710198296?epid=654172571&hash=item3da1f51418:g:iigAAOSwOKlcba8l
  12. As a “key worker” I’ve been called out several times travelling around Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and South Yorkshire mainly on the M1. I have noticed a gradual increase in traffic as time goes on, early on it was LGVs and commercial vans making up the majority of traffic but more recently there are a lot more cars. As for policing .....I have seen just one marked police vehicle in Nottingham parked up at a roundabout to date, no check points and no tugs.
  13. Certainly don’t jack on the sill edges like my garage did to mine !
  14. Check all the moving parts are free (cable, latch assy) and make sure the release knob fully returns after pulling it, spray some lube around the latch.
  15. According to this data yes it is but make sure that the cooling system is working before replacing the inverter or you will cook another. 30051 below.
  16. The G9200-30030 was fitted to GS450h models between 02/2006 and 08/2007 which is a bit confusing given your car is a 2008 model year but would have been built earlier. According to the data I have, the correct one for your car should be G9200-30051 (09/2007-11/2011 models) The part number G9200-30050 comes up as a water pump for a Toyota Crown Hybrid.
  17. No problem the T5 or 286 ones are the small ones for dash T10 are the bigger sidelight ones.
  18. Hi Morris and welcome to the LOC. Do you mean this type or the ones with the built in base that you insert into the board and twist 90 degrees? The very small cap less bulbs are T5 or 286 types. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-501-LUCAS-SIDE-LIGHT-NUMBER-PLATE-PUSH-IN-CAR-BULB-CAPLESS-12V-5W-LLB501/111796341062?epid=2037874449&hash=item1a0794c946:g:ZrwAAOSw5ZBWHM8o
  19. To clarify the washer nozzles are fine and the same as the LS400. Apparently the LS430 nozzles also fit and these have 3 jets instead of 2 on each nozzle giving an improved spray onto the windscreen. The main difference is that the Celsior has both a wash function from the normally positioned reservoir in the front left wheelarch and a rinse (plain water) reservoir behind the front bumper beam although I top both up with screen wash in case the front one freezes up in the winter with just water in it.
  20. Having watched Thomas’s video (very professional by the way) I heard him mention that aluminium is used in the mirror. A bit of reading revealed that when aluminium is exposed to air it corrodes to form aluminium oxide which will then be washed out of the mirror during rain or washing the car, This report suggests that the product can cause damage to paintwork. Aluminum oxide Collision guru Toby Chess (Kent Automotive) also wrote in to point out another form of corrosion, aluminum oxide, also will be a problem for collision repairers. “Another very important corrosion on aluminum that occurs naturally is Aluminum oxide,” he wrote. “Bare aluminum exposed to moisture and oxygen forms a hard protective coating (Al2O3). This compound will cause porosity in your welds, and paint, adhesives and body filler do not like to stick to it. It needs to be removed prior to working on aluminum.” Repairers need to move quickly once aluminum oxide has been removed from a substrate. It bounces back quickly. “An oxide film forms on an aluminum alloy within a matter of minutes when the base metal is exposed to the air,” Toyota, for example, has written of a Prius’ aluminum hood. “This oxide film has a negative effect on putty and paint adhesion, so it is important to immediately treat the base metal after sanding and degreasing.”
  21. The passenger door is fine, not sure if this is another Toyota thing but mine auto locks all the doors once you reach 20MPH. The driver’s side auto opens when you pull the interior handle but the rest remain locked until you manually press either the driver’s open all doors button or the passenger one hence my other half sometimes struggling to get the door open. With this new system fitted all the door locks open when the ignition is turned off so saves pressing the interior button, Not sure about the trunk opening setting off the alarm but mine doesn’t even if the car is locked. I don’t think the indicators flashing when the alarm sets or un-sets is a problem,, my company vehicle does the same but chirps as well, if I could have been bothered I could probably wired the existing chirp that you get with the OEM remote key into the system.
  22. Probably dried out lubrication or dirty contacts on the limit switches, remove mirror glass, clean inside the housing and give any moving parts a good dose of WD40. If you need help removing the mirror glass safely let me know.
  23. Just looking at that engine bay convinces me to hold onto mine as long as possible. I can just imagine the service manual........remove upper engine cover, remove lower engine cover, remove front air intake, remove the 16 vacuum pipes, remove the 12 electrical connectors........you can now fit new wiper blades.
