20k home service parts list and supplier?
steve2006 replied to Maxz's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Individually wrapped almond biscuits and Cappuccino served in a china cup at Lexus....Custard creams and help yourself vending machine at Toyota.... your choice 😀 -
I’ve ordered a complete kit from a UK based company called “Furniture Clinic” for £62.95. The kit does tear repairs, filling cracks, scuffs, recolouring and finishing. I have matched the colour to mine from the colour selection section (sand) but you can lighten or darken the pigment to get an exact match. It’s only the base on the passenger side but all the seat on the driver’s side due to bolster scuffing. If it all goes down the pan I have some spare patio chairs ready to fit 😀

Did I read somewhere that dogs now have to be strapped in with an approved harness in a car or was I just dreaming it?

There’s nothing coming out of the UAE at the moment so Japan is the only Amayama option. Same here with the shipping cost! Does seem a little strange that these are causing the problem given they are stainless steel.

Not too long ago after returning from holiday I discovered my Celsior was sitting on the arches at the hotel where it had been stood for 2 weeks. I also assumed that both rear springs had broken but after further examination by the AA it was just one side. I think what happens is the remaining spring ( in your case air strut ) ends up taking the whole of the weight of the car so compresses fully under the additional load. Once the broken spring was replaced the ride height on both sides returned to normal although I did replace both. I’m hoping from a cost perspective this is the same scenario on your car but given the reliability of air struts it may be a wise move to replace both eventually even if only one has failed. Another thing that was done to prevent the car bottoming out completely was the AA guy fitted some plastic spacers around the damper piston on both sides effectively lifting the rear suspension up and clear of the arches but this cannot be done on air struts due to design. I see you got a flatbed, mine was reversed towed 20 miles mostly along the M1.

Very true Malc re the supermarkets so plan G now. I took you advice and cut a strip off a chamois leather, fitted it under the tear and glued it in place. The tear has now been closed up and is holding fine. I have now ordered a repair and refurbish kit from a company which includes everything to finish the job.

gave the car a clean with some amazing products

Given the condition of the car and taking into account the location I can only say that the results are truly electrifying 😀 -
If you want OEM Lexus Amayama have them in stock but bear in mind the price may be subject to VAT and other charges.

Hello and welcome to the LOC. I’ve not used them personally but given it appears to be an established UK company and Denso are OEM Lexus parts in general I don’t see a problem. Certainly a lot cheaper than Lexus prices! Are you 100% sure it is the ballast as most problems are due to the bulb?

Same respect here for Baz, he’s been a FB friend of mine for years and I often gets ribbed for changing cars so often, last change was a few weeks ago from Honda Legend back to another Lexus. The difference is Baz will spend money on any car he buys to bring them up to his standard, if it needs a cam belt it will get one, spend hours cleaning and polishing then maybe sell it again. As for the Dudley dude, he is obviously a motor trader in the job as a money making business but tries to avoid his legal obligations as such and has convictions for dodgy dealings. I know who I would rather buy a car from.

Hi Fenn and welcome to the LOC. From your username I’m guessing you’re originally from Oz, another country where a lot of JDM import models end up.

Our Dudley dealer seems to have moved into the JDM market with his latest offering on Fleabay, notice that there are no business details or warranty given as usual. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/05-TOYOTA-MARK-X-2-5-V6-72K-MILES-TRD-JDM-JAP-IMPORT-DRIFT-RWD-LEXUS-IS250-GS-LS/303564035003?_trkparms=aid%3D888008%26algo%3DDISC.CARDS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20200220090753%26meid%3Dcc1436bc857046c2a302cb245d7a23a7%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D254593061816%26itm%3D303564035003%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DDiscV1&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982

Well progress has moved on slightly, I made enquiries with some local upholstery companies, one although on the website do repair car seats actually don’t, no reply from 2, one wants to look at the seat first and another quoted £150.00 for just one seat bearing in mind the cover is already off and it’s just one panel. Ummm, let’s watch some Youtube videos on leather seat repairs....fast forward...OK got the basics here, how to unstitch the old panel without causing any damage, how to cut a new panel and how to reattach the new panel to the rest of the seat. Buy some leather of a similar colour ( going to re dye them so not a problem), get the tools and some new foam backing ordered. Although I would prefer machine stitching it may have to done by hand unless another member has or knows someone who has a machine and could stitch the panel in. Worse possible outcome is to have to replace the seats with a velour set from a Celsior at £250.00 or possibly fit the 2 front seats in the same colour from Toyota Soarer. In the meantime I have a 3 seater stretch limo going nowhere anyway.

Just done an MOT check on the £10,850 1994 LS400 on fleabay. There appears to be a 3 year gap between 2016 and 2019, quite a few fails in its time. It does make you wonder if the replacement suspension parts were OEM or Chinese cheapies. Fails on basic things like brake lights and parking brake travel raises concerns in my mind about the quality of servicing and past owner care.
