Hello Craig and welcome to the LOC. Hopefully the reason why the engine is so clean is that Lexus have fitted a replacement, the warranty was extended up to 107,000 miles I understand. Keep a careful eye on the fluid levels and EGR maintenance and if you only tend to drive locally give it a good high speed run on a monthly basis to keep the DPF regenerated.

Yep the manuals are on and now accessible again. FSX is a different matter as it only loads the demo mode despite it having a product key.

Hello Matthew and welcome to the LOC. Signs of calliper pin seizure include the calliper rattling which goes away when you press the brake pedal and uneven brake pad wear. There is a topic regarding this and a DIY video in the IS forums.

It could be the official Toyota grease, I use RRB (Red RubberGrease) to ensure the rubber collars fitted on the pins (if fitted ) don’t get damaged, it appears to have a similar viscosity. I didn’t see any pad shims or pull off springs fitted on the car he was working on either but it covers the pin lubrication process clearly.

The last time I had mine done (around 8 years ago) my local garage quoted me £100.00 for the labour, remaining poker faced I said I’d think about it. Booked it in soon after and dropped it off early in the morning. It was ready by lunchtime the next day. I think they soon realised the quoted Autodata time of 4 hours was a bit out! Still charged me only £100.00 but I did give them a pack of beer too.

Good bit of detective work Paul. All Lexus models with the exception of the LS600 and CT200 use the same stud pattern and PCD ( 5 stud 114.3). Most larger Japanese cars have the same, Mazda as you now know and Nissan (Skyline wheels are the same), some Hondas. The ones you have definitely suit the car and the Lexus centre caps finish them off nicely. I’m guessing sprayed in gun metal grey.

As usual Lexus only supply the complete air strut.

Replacing the complete seat is easy enough, 4 bolts and one electrical connector releases it. Just about manageable to lift out for one person. Repair is a different matter however, something I am attempting at the moment. As you have discovered for yourself the OEM replacement covers are a ridiculous price, I did find a company who custom make and fit replacement covers but again your location may be a problem.

Make me smile when they complain about the price of the genuine Toyota fluid....they should paying our inflated UK prices for the stuff!

Boot seal and lower rear window trim piece off mine yesterday. The amount of crud that collects under the trim would soon result in rot around the drainage channels if not sorted regularly. All cleaned out again, Hammerite treatment holding up OK.

The bracket looks like the one that the suspension height sensor link arm connects to. Bolt on now instead of welded so easier to replace just the bracket. If it is the part I think it is I would get it sorted before it breaks and you possible find the car sat right down on the suspension.

In need of the Karcher treatment I think maybe 😀

OEM Lexus is around the £400.00 mark, fleabay offerings around £100.00 new and rockauto as below. No idea who makes the OEM ones. Any half decent independent should be able to fit a radiator and fill with fresh coolant for around £100.00.

As other learned members have mentioned the service history tends to be more important than the mileage, in the USA there is a Lexus LS400 that has covered over one million miles on the original engine. Feel free to post a link for any potential purchases if you need assurances or criticism, it could be known on the club.

Mine does a similar thing when the ignition is turned on albeit a lot quieter and as you suggest it is the servo flaps moving position for the climate control settings. I’m wondering if someone has replaced the cabin filter in the past without first setting the climate control in the correct mode ( recirculate?) then yanked the filter out and damaged the servo flap which has happened on other models in the past.

Unusual to have just a one year warranty on a car battery, most seem to have 3-5 years.

Well the car is now over £7K with 4 days still to go, however being fleabay there is always a good chance it will be relisted when the winning bidder defaults. Other new offerings include a white series III described as “the cleanest I’ve ever seen” but appears to have never met a vacuum cleaner given the boot and front footwell. The tool box has obviously walked off in disgust too. A series IV DHP with “slight lacquer peel” requiring a full bonnet respray, alloys wheels that “need balancing” and a complete refurb. The fact that the wheels haven’t been balanced indicates to me either the present owner doesn’t care much for maintainance, the front suspension needs some serious work or the tyres are shot. Little wonder I prefer JDM imports.

Listed as “Spacers” in the parts list, not a bad price either at £30.00 each x 4 for a bit of foam. “This is not just an ordinary piece of foam....this is a Lexus piece of foam”

As long as the connection plug is the same it will be fine, the plug is known as a barrel connector with a hollow centre pin connection usually 2.1 or 2.5mm in diameter. Good idea with the old router PSU John we all tend have one knocking around somewhere.

Looks like 12VDC 1500mA ? Post a picture of the plug that goes into the speakers, it looks like centre positive usually 2.5mm I think I may have a suitable replacement you can have for the postage cost. Howard while you are at Rockauto I would grab a serpentine belt at the same time if it hasn’t already been replaced.
