Same here with FX ordered Friday, weekend and UK Bank Holiday Monday on the doorstep by 1.30 pm Tuesday. Rockauto are very quick on dispatch I got an email within an hour telling me the order had been processed then further updates regarding shipping. Efficiency is top notch in the USA, you only have to compare queue movement between their Theme Parks and the likes of Alton Tower’s to realise it.

Engine covers - Surely a shame to hide this Engine?

Hi Neville and welcome to the LOC. We’ve seen quite a few RX450h purchases recently pictures are always welcome 😀 In regard to your problem as far as I know Lexus don’t produce their own tow bars so usually made by the likes of Witter plus a few others. I guess a search of the vehicle has not found it but be aware there are many storage spots. Dependent on the age of the tow bar and it’s condition the information label may still be attached providing you with the details of the manufacturer and model number which should take you towards a replacement. If it was dealer fitted contacting Lexus may prove useful. Hopefully another owner with a tow bar will chip in with further information.

Help needed on severe corrosion
steve2006 replied to Simon Drew's topic in Lexus General Maintenance
Difficult to give advice, there is no mention of corrosion on any MOT even as an advisory. Corrosion is very subjective and to be fair it does look bad but not affecting the structure of the vehicle or it would have failed the test. Did it come from a coastal location? For a 10 year old car on salty UK roads I’ve seen worse. It depends on what you want to do about it, it has a recent MOT so you can’t really argue it’s not roadworthy as it must have been like that at the recent MOT and time of purchase, I’m assuming you never inspected the car before buying it and have since discovered this corrosion? Some Lexus dealers tend to exaggerate problems, at the end of the day they are a business making money, ironic how brake calliper sliding pins are not a Lexus service item so rarely get checked and subsequently seize but get mentioned as a cause when it comes to selling you new callipers, discs and pads. Again tyres with a minimum of 4mm why are they recommending replacements if an MOT revealed no defects? Get the rust sorted, a professional job would be around £500-600 and a second opinion on the other “defects” -
I see Steve has now replied with an update, no problem l’m always happy to help a fellow member, my commission rate funnily enough is 15% 😀😀😀😀😀 Pretty sure you will recoup more than your membership cost on your first service.

Please don’t tell me we are now going to suffer the very same problem from decades ago when chain stretch resulted in manufacturers moving to belts! You would have thought by now technology would have improved enough to produce a non stretch chain and reliable tensioners.

Usually pretty quickly but I’ll contact admin for you directly. Welcome to the LOC by the way.

I could just imagine the Health and Safety requirements for lead loading these days....probably full RPE and an extraction booth. You can’t even buy lead alloy solder anymore ( I still have a stock of MIL grade fortunately 😀). I also have to remove any lead pipe work on gas installations even though it is perfectly sound still and replace with copper.

Hi Mathew and welcome to the LOC. Not too up on mods but other members will chip in with ideas I’m sure, I see you are in Notts, I’m just over the county border near Alfreton. We did have a big meet planned but CV took care of that this year. -
My Brother had one in the late 70s, metallic blue with a big eagle on the bonnet ( or should I say hood). Decided to have a paint job done and discovered more newspaper and filler than metal. Pretty sure it was a straight six maybe 3.6 litres. Bit strange sat in the passenger seat and being responsible for checking oncoming traffic before overtaking 🤔

Hey Shahpor... same model, same colour but a bigger engine in yours 😀

Hello K and welcome to the LOC. Lovely colour that is, I only mentioned the other day it would be worth checking Lexus dealer stock for a nice part exchange model, even better when it has only locked up 47,000 miles and been looked after.

Well I started this project on the 4th of May and it’s still ongoing, the seat is still in the garage and the car stuck outside! The missing dye finally arrived but despite my best efforts I was unable to correct the shade to match. I managed to obtain a very small sample of leather off the seat ( there isn’t much spare) and then sent this off for a colour matched bottle of dye so another £30.00 including the matching fee of £12.95. This was done on the 2nd of June and despite a couple of emails I am still waiting, apparently they are snowed under with colour matching requests but it “should” be with me this week. Just hoping when it does arrive it matches! In the meantime I have sprayed the seat in the incorrect colour but at least when the hopefully correct stuff arrives it will then be a case of just applying a couple of coats of that then the finishing lacquer.

I have had to reformat my SD card around 3 times in a year in my Nextbase but it has always worked by doing it in the camera, the amount of “clips” you save/ protect will reduce the amount of memory available for overwriting. What size memory are you using?

If the battery was already low on charge it was probably that 3 point turn that flattened it with the extra demand from the electric power steering. The drive belt also runs the water pump so unlikely broken unless you have over heating problems as well. Check all the alternator connections including the main earth and also the ALT fuse in the engine compartment fuse box, this should be one with a clear cover over it and rated at 120A. Then suspect the alternator itself, if you have a multimeter you can check for output by measuring the battery terminal voltage with the engine off and then again with it running when you should see an increase.

Ooooh...is that the 5 pot engine also fitted in the Ford Focus ST?

That’s weird with Rockauto, as you can see from my invoice VAT was automatically added at the point of sale for this and another transaction so they both arrived in a couple of days. Never mind wait until you see the free fridge magnet! Bad luck on the front bumper Mike and sod’s law I got rid of the other series IV a couple of months ago, wrong colour but intact. Not damaged the bumper yet but now down to my last spare under cover out of 3.
