  1. Similar problem here. I’ve checked the wheel alignment and bearings, all the swivel joints, no crash damage and the pull down child seat is free to move but it still tends to pull to the left. After complaining to the store manager the camber on all the aisles has been checked and found to be fine but it still seems worse approaching the frozen food section which may indicate temperature is a factor. Really struggling to find a solution now, if I don’t soon it’s going in the river.
  2. Hi Taps and welcome to the LOC and the world of Lexus parts pricing. It’s always been the same with Lexus parts...the mere mention of Lexus can double the price of the same part fitted to a Toyota model. The engine fitted to the IS220d and the Avensis is the same one a 2.2 litre turbo charged unit designated 2ADFHV so the EGR valve is going to be the same. The RAV 4 appears to have the 2.0 litre TD engine 1ADFTV which without checking is probably the same as fitted to the IS200d. Another example is the steering column motor for the Lexus Ls430, the same motor is fitted to the Toyota Landcruiser but the price is much lower. My advice...buy the Toyota one 😀
  3. Welcome to the LOC. I imported mine from Japan so it’s Toyota badged. Tell us more about how you got it here...you didn’t drive it back did you ? 😀
  4. Always seems to be the same, in the USA if there is a recall it gets sorted pronto, the Volkswagen emissions scandal resulted in cars being returned for refunds over the pond meanwhile nothing much done in the UK apart from shove some more Ad Blu in at your own expense. Vauxhall seemed to take their recall for the heater fire problem with the “Zafire a” with a pinch of salt and looked what happened there after they swept the ashes under the tarmac.
  5. Don’t forget if you want to DIY change a flat tyre you will also need a jack and lug wrench.

    Key

Buenos dias Alfredo and welcome to the LOC. If you have the master key (black coloured) you can generally clone another key off it be it a new or secondhand one. More problems arise if you only have the valet key (generally grey in colour) which doesn’t open the trunk or glovebox as you cannot reprogram another key from this. You should be able to buy a complete secondhand key from places like ebay for a reasonable cost, transfer the electronics into a new empty key shell, have the blade cut from your original key and then reprogram it. You will need a key from a European model as the USA ones tend to have different operating systems. https://www.remotesremotes.com/Key-Fob-Keyless-Entry-Remote-for-2006-Lexus-RX-400h-s/4472.htm?searching=Y&sort=5&cat=4472&show=30&page=1 Cost should be at least half the price your garage has quoted.
  7. Personally I would find another mechanic, OK not an easy job but do able with the correct tools which a professional mechanic should have. You take a risk with secondhand hubs....they may also be worn so more labour costs if so. This is the procedure if you want to pass it to your mechanic https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-3rd-gen-2001-2006/750201-how-i-replaced-the-rear-wheel-bearing-hub-on-my-04-base-model-ls430.html#&gid=1&pid=11 For a complete hub try Rockauto.com https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/lexus,2003,ls430,4.3l+v8,1416642,brake+&+wheel+hub,wheel+bearing+&+hub,1636
  8. Hello James and welcome to the LOC. Regarding the transmission they will not shift into top gear until the fluid has reached normal operating temperature to protect the transmission.
  9. Hello Paul and welcome to the LOC. I may see you around as not far from you at Riddings.
  10. Hi Alan and welcome to the LOC. I think we may need those pictures to help you.
  11. Hello Jeff and welcome to the LOC. I have never used this company myself but perhaps other members have and will chip in. The car itself looks clean and straight although needs a good pre sale valet, I checked the MOT history and the mileage is consistent with no failures from the first test. The previous MOT had advisories for all 4 tyres so worth checking if these have been replaced or haggle accordingly to cover these. The current MOT is short so I would certainly be looking for a fresh ticket before purchase. As you mention reviews are mixed but seem to have improved recently, the fact they are a dealer provides greater consumer protection regarding any defects that may arise so don’t be tempted by an expensive warranty the law will basically cover this for 6 months. I don’t know what the £95.00 admin fee is for sounds expensive for sending a V5C to the DVSA so question it. I think the price is fair for the condition and mileage but insist on a HPI check or do a basic one yourself, if is is previously accident recorded it will also state this on the front of the V5C. Check the service history with 4 previous owners it probably started with Lexus and ended up at an independent, If you do purchase Lexus normally provide a free check up which will highlight any existing and potential problems. I would go and take a look if it’s local, better still if you have a mechanic as a friend take them too, any concerns just thank them for their time and walk away. 12. They’ve cleaned up very nicely with alloy wheel cleaner. Got all the old stick on balance weights off with a plastic trim tool and the sticky residue with tar remover. An all over coat of wheel wax has them looking 95% just the odd paint chips which I may touch up. Also picked up a pair of Pirelli P Zero 245/45/18 (100Y) tyres almost new with 6.5mm even tread remaining so just got to buy another pair.
  13. OK another update. After contacting the company regarding my mismatched leather colour match I have received a reply from them. They have agreed to do another match for me and supply the colourant free of charge. To try and make sure it is right this time I have posted them the complete front headrest as it is much larger than the sample sent previously and it has been evenly exposed to the sun and heat over the life of the car so should give a more accurate colour match. Sent it well packaged and insured by RM Special Delivery so another £11.00 but didn’t fancy it going AWOL, the company have confirmed delivery and also that the correct colourant should be with me along with the headrest later this week....I hope.
  14. Same engine just a bigger cc so should be good to fit. Last 2 numbers of part numbers different but physically appear the same on parts diagrams.
  15. Hi Lloyd and welcome to the LOC. There shouldn’t be any grinding noise when braking unless there is a problem with the brakes i.e. pads worn down to the metal backing plate. The fact you heard it on all the cars you tried is very unusual.
  16. Here is a nice set of Lexus wheels which I’ve acquired, not seen this type before and cannot seem to find any information on them. They are a staggered set with 8” width and 45 offset on the fronts and wider 8.5 50 offset on the rears. Diameter is 18” Anyone recognise them please.
  17. Hi Peter, I’ve sent you a PM. Managed to find one chrome bolt which is inserted into one of the outer sections, the plastic clips (usually yellow or white in colour) will need to be carefully removed from the original inner units and fitted to these so the outer part can securely clip into the inner section. Gently squeeze the clips from behind, push through and transfer over. Picture shows the round hole where they fit.
  18. Hi Ashley, If you have the basic mechanical skills and tools the job is not too bad. Once you get the covers off make sure all the timing marks are correctly aligned before removing the belt, check the new belt against the old one to make sure it is the correct one supplied, if you are changing the tensioner don’t pull the pin until the belt is on and the marks are all aligned. If you have a torque wrench use it to ensure the correct tightness of the pulleys and tensioner. It is normally recommended to crack the crank pulley bolt while the belt is still on so the engine can be locked either by putting it in gear if manual or park if automatic, same when refitting the bolt torque it up when the belt is back on. Few videos on the link which will be worth watching. https://www.google.co.uk/search?client=safari&sxsrf=ALeKk000NiXdBg9u2Nkue20fnjy_cioovA%3A1594457587620&source=hp&ei=830JX8_aI8eXlwSw-YToAQ&q=lexus+is200+cambelt+change&oq=lexus+is200+cam&gs_lcp=ChFtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1ocBABGAMyAggAMgIIADICCAAyAggAMgIIADICCAAyAggAMgIIADoHCCMQ6gIQJzoHCC4Q6gIQJzoECCMQJzoECC4QJzoFCAAQkQI6BAgAEEM6BwgAELEDEEM6CggAELEDEIMBEEM6CAgAELEDEJECOgUIABCxA1C6Y1iOiwFg1KEBaAFwAHgAgAGKAYgB0AuSAQM3LjiYAQCgAQGwAQ8&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-hp If you want factory manuals you can subscribe for a day and get them all. https://www.lexus-tech.eu/OnlineSubscriptions.aspx Take your time and you’ll be fine.
  19. I also spotted the vettes, there is also a Honda 250N Superdream ..I bought one once for £80.00 and that included a new rear tyre and now look at the price!
  20. “They do not look Blingy to me,in fact they give the car enhanced gravitas.” Does this mean the car is now heavier with better road holding characteristics 😀
