  1. Looking like a meter job to find the cause then, if it’s automatic try putting the selector into neutral and see if it starts, if manual ignore the suggestion. Somewhere down the line you have either a broken connection to the starter motor, this begins at the ignition switch, usually a relay and ends at the starter motor. First check is to make sure all the motor connections are on and secure then work back. If you were closer I would have taken a look for you being an electrician by trade.
  2. Hello Greg welcome to the LOC and supporting the club with your gold membership. Good to see our members as always helping to sort out the problem you had
  3. When you say the engine doesn’t turn over just silence are the dash lights coming on or are they also off?
  4. Hello Mitch and welcome to the LOC. Posting at 1.00 am either means the excitement of a new car or the worry of a problem must have kept you awake. At the price you paid I would have slept soundly even with the problem 😀 Not come across the problem you have got personally, I know the cause on the LS400 but will see what I can find out for you. Worst scenario is getting a good working unit from a breaker, there again there are a lot of fuses to check and you may be lucky if one has been missed. Pretty sure other owners will chip in with suggestions. I found this, fuses to check are Nos. 4 and 12 in the passenger fuse box. https://knigaproavto(blocked word)/shemy/en/lexus/is/746-2006-2013-lexus-is-250-300-350-220d-fuse-box-diagram.html

  6. According to Toyota this should be the part number for the female plug 90980-12303, 6 pin inline waterproof ( not too sure on the last word looking at the damage!) There is nothing mentioned for the male connector fitted to the compressor but a decent auto electrician will be able to re-pin both the plug and socket.
  7. Buying them is easy but fitting them probably removing the rear bumper, drilling holes into the boot area, trim removal and opening looms to make the electrical connections. If it then fails an MOT reverse the process.
  8. “ Need a big gloss black roof box next.“ 380 miles, 29 MPG. 😀
  9. “Just a few routine questions Sir, were you in Nottingham around 8 years ago?” 😀
  10. Hello David and welcome to the LOC. Is it up for sale again or do you own it? I think they made just 3 of them but one was written off, saw one for sale many years ago on ebay but nothing since, some spares are now becoming a problem for earlier LS400s so wouldn’t fancy needing a front end for one of these.
  11. I tried that once from the lights and got thrashed but I could still hold my head up high.....it was an SC430 that did the thrashing 😀
  12. The fact that it was too late as he had already got the parts 😀
  13. I picked them up locally just outside Derby after finding them on Facebook Marketplace. By coincidence my present set were purchased a few miles away from this property. Still haven’t found a barn find Mini Cooper S though 😀.
  14. I was going to suggest Rockauto for the OEM Aisin kit and price.
  15. Hi James and welcome to the LOC. Sorry can’t help with the questions, my Lexus is old skool at 26 years old but pretty sure other owners will post up. When you say “assigned” are you saying company car?
  16. “Or one day you’ll get a slap on the arse” 😀
  17. I think I’m going to enjoy this thread now we are going into the realms of ESR, Capacitive and Inductive reactance and Z impedance. I still say most of the problems with electronics today is the use of “Lead Free Solder” thankfully I still have a good supply of MIL grade leaded which does a proper job of jointing.
  18. I think it is normally the EFI fuse usually located in the footwell box. The radio code disable method should be in the owner’s manual, if you don’t have it you can download a free digital copy from Lexus.
  19. How times change, when the LS400 was initially sold back in 1990 it was said that Toyota made a loss on every one that was sold due to the amount of money spent on development and the quality of components used. However at the time it wasn’t about the money it was beating the likes of Mercedes and other luxury car makers to the top podium position. Things changed with the LS430, gone was the near full stainless exhaust, delaminating windows and rust on doors appeared. Move on again a few years and costs get cut again to maximise margins.....let’s hope we don’t return to British Leyland build quality!
  20. Yes, removing the battery lead and leaving it a few minutes will reset the engine ECU but also bear in mind various other items may also need resetting after doing so like one touch windows, sunroof and radio stations ( if your radio requires a security code either disable it first or make sure you have the code). As far as I am aware remapping any Lexus ECU is not possible, there are some aftermarket alternatives available for earlier cars like a Mines ECU but unsure on later models.
  21. Totally agree with you Alan. Although not mentioned I would imagine the cam belt has also been replaced at some time given the service history and previous owner’s attention. I didn’t realise until the seller mentioned 12 volts front and rear, mine has the cigar lighter at the rear of the centre console but I never realised of course there are the same in both rear ash trays as well should you ever need it. It would be a lot easier plugging in a 12 volt tyre pump in one of those when checking pressures.
  22. If you just need the reluctor ring here’s the company. https://www.reluctorrings.com/cars/lexus?utm_source=LexusOwnersClubUK&utm_medium=ForumLinks
  23. I can’t quite understand why a complete driveshaft is required for an ABS fault, the only 2 parts associated with the system are the toothed ring and the speed sensor which are both available as separate parts. The complete driveshaft (Part number 4233024020) new from Amayama is as shown below plus shipping plus import duties. There is however an SC430 being broken on ebay, it still has the rear wheels fitted so must still have the driveshaft on it however condition is of course unknown. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Breaking-Lexus-SC430-Black-leather-Convertable/283776017464?hash=item42125e6438:g:se8AAOSwszVePtMq The speed sensor is part number 89545-24030 at around £220.00 also probably still on the breaker. Sod’s law of course there are several drive shafts on ebay.com for around $60.00!
