  1. You normally have one master which will open everything and has 3 buttons then 2 “Valet” keys which will open the doors and start the car but not open the boot or glovebox as you don’t want the valet parking guy looking in there ( OK we don’t have much valet paring in the UK except for maybe airport parking). Finally there is normally a skeleton key so just a blade to get you in the car.
  2. Just looking at the picture Phil....very clean in that wheel arch ....is it leaving the showroom soon 😀
  3. Hello Jeff and welcome to the LOC. Generally if you have the 3 button Master key ( locks and unlocks the boot and glovebox) you can reprogrammed another key from it. You will also have to have a new blade cut.
  4. Yep, the earlier models up to October 1994 used a Karman Vortex AFM which uses optical measurement of air flow and cannot be cleaned. The later models use the Hot Wire AFM which can be cleaned with care.
  5. Hi Connor and welcome to the LOC. The Aisin transmissions are pretty robust and can generally handle increased power without a problem. Not sure about the 761 but the earlier A340 could be fitted with a high stall Torque Convertor and a performance Valve Body. Manual transmission conversion is popular for power upgrades.
  6. I also purchased a “ trim removal kit” This has various tools to pry clips and fixings out without damaging the panels.
  7. They are very difficult to remove intact as they tend to go brittle with age...that’s why I bought replacements before trying to remove the old ones 😀
  8. Looking through the Japanese auction sites the early models 1990-1994 have jumped a lot up in the asking price to the point where they are more than the later models up to 2000.
  9. Here you go. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/50-x-YOU-S-Original-Verkleidung-Befestigungs-Clip-für-LEXUS-TOYOTA-75867-30110/323160849691?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
  10. Remove the calliper bolts to access the slide pins then see if they turn with a 17mm spanner on the nut and slide our easily.
  11. The colours were the same when I did mine. Although for the earlier model this may help if you want to flush the system, filter change is also on the same website. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/transmission/transflush.html
  12. Have you tried any breakers? There are quite a few on ebay if they are willing to take it out but you may have to collect https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1311&_nkw=lexus+gs300+breaking&_sacat=0 Just be aware there was a change in 2000 so check the dates carefully. The later one is available new but expensive!
  13. I think I have too many on the Celsior with 2 retrofitted integrated rear fog lights, 2 reversing lights, 4 brake lights plus the high level one and 6 rear lights.
  14. Hybrids use the traction battery for starting the petrol engine not the 12 volt battery so the battery is just for powering up the computers and not sufficient to jump start a conventional car.
  15. Hi Zakaria and welcome to the LOC. Good to hear you are happy with your first Lexus, sorry can’t help with the dealers you mention but if you are planning on keeping the car a FLSH isn’t a necessity, have the yearly hybrid check done at Lexus and find a good local independent garage for servicing. You will save both in travel and money.
  16. I also bought some, it’s a push up dispenser type so a little larger than a lip sun block. Couldn’t believe the packaging though!
  17. By pure coincidence there is a post on the LS forum which may be of interest.
  18. Hi Andy and welcome to the LOC. I joined in 2006 after I bought a Toyota Celsior ( Japanese Lexus LS400) and still have it as it keeps going and I can’t find anything better.
  19. Over the years mine’s had paint sealant, polish, wax, clay bar and apart from the roof which is being re-sprayed soon it’s not too bad at 26 years. Bear in mind of course this was the flagship model at the time with no expense spared so probably got more paint coats than a Rolls or Bentley.
  20. The indicators I have bought fit fine, they also came with the orange bulbs and chrome fixing bolt to replace the orange originals. The only thing I found is they tend to let water in unless you silicon seal them.
  21. Can’t you declare Sorn while it’s stuck in France then tax it again when you get back over there?
  22. Also check out a company called “Big Redd” and ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-IS250-2005-2015-Front-brake-caliper-guide-pin-slider-pin-kit-S7291CXA/332227517262?fits=Car+Make%3ALexus&epid=9015647186&hash=item4d5a4d9b4e:g:qzcAAOSwll5eZ8SA
  23. It hadn’t hit 100,000 yet at the last MOT but looking at the history it’s getting a bit poorly now, could be the last one it gets with corrosion and sill rot.
