  1. Here’s an example of what a (hopefully) legitimate car dealer would display on each listing. “Motors Dealer” Then take a look at our Dudley dealers contact details, it is apparently an ebay requirement that business sellers provide full contact information but this is obviously not enforced.
  2. But as a “dealer” you cannot put things like “sold as seen” or “No warranty given or implied” Dealers have to follow statutory law, in this case the Consumer Rights Act.
  3. The pipes are continuous from front to rear and have you checked out the cost?
  4. Alan you don’t have to be a business to put a “Classified Ad” on eBay anyone can do it from the options of an auction listing, buy it now and classified. I also speak from my personal experiences with this guy knowing without doubt his court convictions are of safe standing and yet he continues to breach Consumer Rights Laws by failing to clearly disclose he is a motor trader thus depriving potential buyers of their statutory rights.
  5. MOT today, usual garage, another pass with zero advisories so will now go ahead with the roof respray and alloy wheel refurbishment. Checked the mileage between now and the last MOT 555 miles which probably helps. Emissions as shown, excellent for a 26 year old car.
  6. The rear one normally runs down the C pillar into the boot behind the carpet then out through the boot floor, the front down inside the A pillar through the engine bay to the floor.
  7. I was fortunate with my imported 1994 Toyota Celsior ( LS400) in that it spend 12 years in Japan with no road salt exposure and maybe a kinder climate. I did however shortly after purchase clean out the rear arches of accumulated crud, to be honest there wasn’t much compared to other cars I have owned but I still did it and continue to do it yearly after each UK salted road winter. Although the original sealant was still good I also gave it another coat when dry. Using a hose pipe and a stiff brush I ensure it gets a good wash out, the only things I tend to find in there now are the odd stone flung up by the tyre. The result is no rust never mind rot so a little bit of time spent on prevention really does work, this is particularly important on cars like the LS where the sills are clad in plastic making it difficult without removal to see any rot.
  8. No idea, the jail sentence was suspended for 18 months from last conviction in September 2019 according to the report link. Hopefully Trading Standards will investigate the breach under the Consumer Rights Act as to why he has not disclosed he is a motor trader. You must not falsely claim, or create the impression, that you are acting for purposes unrelated to your business or falsely represent yourself as a private seller (banned practice 22). For example, a second- hand car dealer puts a used car on or near a road and displays a handwritten advertisement reading ‘One careful owner. Good family run-around. £2,000 or nearest offer. Call Jack on 07734 765890.’ The advertisement gives the impression that the seller is not selling as a trader, and would breach the CPRs.
  9. Looking promising https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/offences/magistrates-court/item/breach-of-a-suspended-sentence-order/
  10. Getting desperate.......already price dropped.....mileage has stayed the same for now!
  11. He was prosecuted twice for selling unroadworthy vehicles and other matters and received a suspended prison sentence. He makes out he is a private seller to avoid his statutory consumer requirements. https://www.dudley.gov.uk/news/second-prosecution-lands-dudley-car-trader-suspended-prison-sentence/
  12. After a short break our Dudley dealer, sorry private seller has returned to the bay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-LS-400-MK4-107K-MILES-FSH-MOT-HPI-CLR-430-460-GS-300-TOYOTA-CROWN-CELSIOR/303702323022?hash=item46b611af4e:g:RXwAAOSwXYJffxr2
  13. The other 1994 Celsior I had was factory fitted Sat Nav, great for travelling around the suburbs of Tokyo 😀
  14. Given that dampers and control arms are subjected to UK road quality and are generally classed as wear and tear items it’s good to hear they are all covered under a Lexus warranty. I remember having to replace the near side UCA on mine after a pot hole conflict, a genuine one was £521.00 but I managed to get the same for around £130.00. Mine is in for its MOT this Thursday, if it passes again I’ll have the roof sorted and wheels repainted if it fails on something major it will be gone and then I will be looking for another JPJSavage special. Had 4 holidays cancelled this year, the bank account is pretty healthy so might as well spend it on some nice metal than let it sit there earning 0.01% interest.
  15. They look quite advanced given the spread, are they all on the same panel? A touch up pen would be no good, sure it would make the areas looks better cosmetically for a short while but would not prevent the rust from spreading under the paint and would soon flake off. A “Smart” repairer may do better but by the time the rust has been removed down to good metal the size is going to increase significantly. Applying filler and smoothing down will again increase the area and then you need to get a perfect colour match and finish. I would get a few quotes from reputable body shops, you may be surprised by the price but the job will be good and permanent.
  16. If these prices are anything to go by it already is 😀 Also bearing in mind there are VAT, import duty and registration on top of these prices! https://carfromjapan.com/cheap-used-toyota-celsior-for-sale?minYear=1990&maxYear=1994
  17. Probably has to be a cat to meet EU standards but there are 2 types one with and the other with just a silencer box.
  18. I had a blue Toyota Carina 1.6 GL estate as a company car in the early eighties, metallic blue. Even then they were light years ahead of the completion regarding reliability and specification.
  19. I took the Celsior out yesterday to see if my attempted speedo repair ( reading low) had been cured ( it hasn’t but any help appreciated) Just got up the road on the estate and a new nearby neighbour with his son waved me down. Passenger window down. ”That’s a very nice car you have.....my son’s into cars and we actually know what car yours is” ”Thank you very much I try to look after it” ”Yes it is in good condition you don’t see many Toyota Carinas around now especially a V8 one” Window up and drive off fully insulted, a Moon Pig Toyota CELSIOR Christmas card for them then! 😀
  20. The “cats” are before the Y section so most replacements are termed “cat back” so join at the cat flanges, the only problem is the flanges on the cats tend to rot resulting in exhaust blows at that point. I understand some companies weld the new system directly onto the cats but then you would have issues if the converters ever needed to be replaced.
  21. If it is the connecting rod that has broken you can also make one similar to this with a few parts. https://www.evansweb.info/2009/11/23/ls400-ride-height-sensor-repair/
  22. Hi Callum and welcome to the LOC. The only thing I would consider while the box is out is perhaps replacing the rear main seal.
  23. A bit like 2 petrol stations, different companies on opposite sides of the same road. Both selling petrol at £116.9 a litre and diesel at £119.9. It’s about time this optical pricing was banned I often think about putting in exactly 10 litres and then questioning why the price is £11.70 and not £11.69!
  24. Hi Jack and welcome to the LOC. I was going to suggest a set of aftermarket adjustable coil overs but after looking further the Sports Cross appears to be different so the correct fitting parts may be hard to obtain. The car was known in Japan as the Toyota Altezza Gita so it may be worth looking down that route for parts.
