  1. There is normally some sort of date code on them mm/yy If it’s done 15 years it may be a candidate for the Guinness Book of Records 😀
  2. Another “Audiot” More or less guaranteed no details were exchanged for the damage to the lamp post, having said that I’d love to see the insurance claim description and sketch of the accident scene 😀
  3. Having started work at 10.00am on the late shift I was then given 3 jobs before 12.00..I asked if they were also sending me a Delorean DMC 12
  4. I was invited by Lexus Derby to the launch of this model and was very impressed with the car, the food and the champagne (I wasn’t driving BTW). Doesn’t seem to be 16 odd years ago.
  5. As soon as I saw the word “indeed” in the title I knew! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/08-LEXUS-LS-460-SE-L-70K-MILES-380-BHP-4-6-V8-8-SPD-AUTO-MOT-430-CROWN-GS-NICE/303862785258?hash=item46bfa224ea:g:~lQAAOSwI2hgGYgw
  6. 27 years old, 92,000 miles, a 2-3000 mile annual oil and filter change with fully synthetic and doesn’t use a drop of the golden stuff.
  7. Mine are still bone dry, I did notice some oil in the spark plug tubes which means the seals are leaking so that’s cam covers off job anyway so new gaskets too....... when it gets a bit warmer 😀
  8. Do you have “Home Start” with one of the breakdown companies? They should have enough diagnostic tackle to at least head you in the right direction or get the car somewhere that does.
  9. I makes you wonder if the gaskets had been replaced at some time but the bolts weren’t torqued down.
  10. Yet another “fine indeed” offering. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-LS-430-V8-6-SPD-140K-LSH-PRIV-PLATE-MOT-HPI-CLR-SUPERB-DRIVE-400-460-GS-SC/303862785258?hash=item46bfa224ea:g:h~UAAOSwb71gEYqx
  11. Apparently Lexus make a cheaper option, special order only and sorry I don’t have the part number 😀
  12. There is a guy called Paul Frost up in Lancashire who specialises in breaking LS400s and sells parts at reasonable prices, pretty sure he is a member on here too.
  13. Good result, thank you for posting the update. Just out of interest I know you said it was just the Terraclean but did you give it some revs driving it there and back?
  14. Any chance of getting some pictures when it goes on the lift Scott? Rust is very subjective and obviously comes under the testers scrutiny, what did the fail remark actually say, was it close to suspension components, is it structural for example holed or just surface rust?
  15. Just surfing (pun intended” and came across this article, apparently Toyota took the engine, marinated it and stuck it in a speed boat. They also stuck one in an aeroplane and flew it. Very clever these Japanese. https://www.hagerty.com/media/marine/toyotas-epic-powerboat-failure-didnt-help-its-reach-toward-the-skies/
  16. I’ll try and lighten this debate a little given Nick’s experience in aircraft maintenance ( Boeing 737 for a D check anyone 😀). Toyota and Hamilton as a joint project actually developed a version of the V8 engine used in the LS400 and other which was approved by the FAA, twin supercharged and producing 360 BHP. The test engine only accrued 35 flying hours so it may have not got an oil analysis as the project never really got off the ground...pun intended. https://www.planeandpilotmag.com/article/crazy-and-not-so-crazy-automaker-forays-into-aviation/nggallery/image/hellcats/
  17. I did notice during their TV advertisements that Green Flag only appear to cover cars less than 10 years old, that’s probably the reason they can cut your RAC or AA renewal in half! I even took mine out of the garage today in the snow....found what I needed from the storage boxes then put it back in....fortunately it didn’t break down 😀
  18. Has it been serviced regularly particularly the air filter and oil. How is the car used, just around town or longer higher speed journeys, a good run can do wonders on a town dwelling car.
  19. The IS250 is a petrol V6 engine, the only diesels Lexus every made were the IS220d and IS200d.
  20. Just one thing Denis mentioned in your first post....don’t wait until the brake pad wear light comes on, the sensors cost more than the pads to replace.
  21. Hi Allan and welcome to the LOC. I would imagine Lexus Birmingham are the nearest to you, a lot of dealers were offering good deals on servicing and extended warranty packages recently like 2 for 1 years. Also older models get “essential service” rates although the NX isn’t listed yet but worth asking dealers. Gold club membership also gives you discounts on servicing and parts at most dealers so also worth checking it out. https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/lexus-essential-care/?lexReferrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.co.uk%2F#hero
