  1. Not 100% sure but applying +12volts to the purple wire should operate the trunk solenoid release.
  2. I would assume that all the costs involved here are being covered by the valet parking company or their insurers? If so make sure they admit liability and are accepting any forthcoming claim.
  3. Interesting that Toyota employees get good discounts on buying and leasing Toyota cars. I’m wondering if this is an ex lease car from a factory employee hence why it was located there.
  4. TBH if I was video presenting a used car to a customer I would have done so after the valet not covered in raindrops ( as you mentioned these can hide a multitude of defects) and having muddy tyres. The emphasis of the wheels as the camera flashed by the panels was class!
  5. Looking at the pictures, no damage marker, the lack of service history and the missing key it’s very suspect Unfortunately you only have 30 days from purchase to reject the car and this period has passed. You do however still have rights under consumer law to request the dealer to repair the car ( in your case the paint job) and within the first six months it is the seller that has to prove the paint defects were not present at the time of sale. After being given one chance to repair the car if it is still unsatisfactory you can then at this point request a refund or a partial refund if you wish to keep the car. The dealer may also make a reasonable deduction for the use of the vehicle during your ownership. I would also contact the finance company and inform them of the situation and if you paid the deposit by credit card your card provider as they are jointly liable for any purchase over £100.00. Keep a record of all correspondence particularly telephone calls (if possible record them). Be interesting to find out who the previous owner was as Burneston is indeed the Toyota factory just outside Derby.
  6. Cheers for this info, could you provide more details on the fittings/ connectors like the size/thread type and the pipe diameter please? Pipe cutting and bending I am very familiar with as an ex Gas Safe fitter.
  7. Totally agree, happened to me more than once, doors open so interior lights on for hours whilst carrying out some work resulted in depleted battery. Get a mate with some jump leads to pop over.
  8. I found that RRG ( Red Rubber Grease) works very well on the slide pins to prevent seizing. It’s very thick so only needs a thin smear and doesn’t break down.
  9. £193.00 at LPD! or if you can wait a week less than half that from Amayama, (Picture and part number is for driver’s side let me know if you need passenger side part number).
  10. Given how seized the pin is I would go for a new carrier bracket. The only other option would be to drill a hole in the other side and then try and punch the remains of the slider pin out but it looks too far gone to me.
  11. Hi Chris and welcome to the LOC Is this what you need? https://tinyurl.com/ynsme5d4
  12. Given the previous radiator replacement and its location in respect to the crank pulley I would take a look at the CPS wiring loom and connector to the main loom as this may have been disturbed. Unless the ECU receives a signal from the CPS the injectors will not fire.
  13. If you could disclose your model of Lexus ( Marchy?) I can look up the pipe work routing for you on the exploded diagram.
  14. Personally I think the missing flashlight is having a massive impact on prospective purchasers. I am therefore offering my spare one to you for the nominal cost of the postage. It does appear to be a little intermittent in operation requiring a few careful turns of the base to illuminate but does then remain on until switched back off. If you could send me a PM with your address details I will get it in the post to you suitably packaged. Unlike the majority of items sold this will have batteries included unfortunately these are not the originals 😀
  15. Hi Ian and welcome to the LOC. Regarding Q1 my personal view is yes they seem to be dragging their feet/ burying their heads in the sand regarding this CanBus theft issue. They have designed and fitted a “protective” plate to some models but chose not to contact owners directly instead leaving it to individuals to find out for themselves. Even then some dealers claimed to know nothing about it, some did and some attempted to make a charge for supply and fitting. Following on from the BBC Watchdog programme it must have been a mere coincidence that Lexus/Toyota released a statement the same day suggesting “Hardware” solutions were forthcoming. This was now several months ago and I have seen no further updates. Q2 the answer would suggest that Lexus are actually encouraging the retrofit of 3rd party alarm/immobiliser/tracker systems along with a physical steering lock from which one has to assume your manufacturer’s warranty would not be voided by such actions being taken.
  16. Those headlight washers are a bit like the toolbox flashlight, there for a purpose, rarely used but absolutely essential to be present 😀
  17. Hi Jerry, when I read you had been on the .com LOC I couldn’t resist 😀 Welcome to the LOC UK forums.
  18. Hallo Jerry und willkommen im LOC, wir haben viele hilfsbereite und freundliche Mitglieder hier auf unserer deutschen Seite 😀
  19. Pretty sure I read a post regarding the flexible pipe option that was fabricated by an AC specialist but not sure if it still involved the tank being dropped.
  20. Chris, hello, are you still there? Your keyboard is not typing anything.
