Also back in the 70s my brother and myself both had a Viva HC mine was green his was red. I think they were 1300cc. I wanted the Vauxhall Magnum which I think was 1800 but couldn’t at the time afford one......times have since changed and my wealth now allows me to own several in the freezer. 😀 -

A Torque Wrench is essential....when I got my car back from the wheel refurbishment the first thing I did was loosen off the wheel nuts ( yes well overtightened!) and retorque them to the correct 76 lbft. -
Hello Stephen and welcome to the LOC. The link below will help....plenty of choice. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=lexus+is220d+egr+cleaning&client=safari&prmd=svin&source=lnms&tbm=vid&biw=1024&bih=666

Alloy wheel repair needed
steve2006 replied to Brechin Slate's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Was it done with the tyre on or off Mike? I know some just deflate the tyre and push the bead back off the rim I just don’t understand how they access the edge of the rim with the tyre still on. I had mine completely refurbished for £80.00 a wheel, again I’ve heard stories that some companies only do the face of the wheel but mine were completely done. -

If you think back to the start of Covid and the first lockdown fuel prices dropped through the floor to something like £1.00 a litre so I filled mine up. Since then I have continued to top it up when it drops between 1/2 and 3/4 but on each occasion the cost has slowly been creeping back up. I think petrol is currently around £1.26 per litre now. Not checked but crude oil prices don’t seem to affect profit snatch backs. My pet hate is the .9 on the pump prices £115.9 come on it’s £1.16, has anyone ever tried to put in exactly 10 litres for £11.59, the pumps jump 2p now instead of 1p if you even touch the trigger.

I’m not a qualified mechanic just had plenty of DIY experience making do with Snap Off and Brittle tools working on my driveway 😀 I started the front pads yesterday and halfway through it rained so car was sat on axle stands all night. Recommenced this morning still half asleep and after wondering why there was a metal to metal sound during the post complete test drive I rechecked and discovered I had fitted the inner pad back to front on one side. Fortunately no damage to shim or disc! -

I remember my Dad who had the engine of his A35 rebuilt in the 70s, seem to think it was £20.00 all in for knocking big end bearings parts and labour. He had the “Running in, please pass” sign in the rear window. -

Hello Philip and welcome to the LOC. You struggle to beat the refinement and build quality of a Lexus, mine is now 27 years old and still going strong. -
Thankfully after having had his car sitting on the drive for nearly 2 years James eventually managed to find a suitable replacement for the defective hydrogen cell from a local breakers. No warranty on the used part was implied or given but Dave the scrappy said it was working fine before removal.

Hi Philip and welcome to the LOC. Is it badged as Lexus or Toyota as the RX300 was known as a Toyota Harrier in Japan? If you ever need part numbers post up a picture of the part and description and I can look it up on the database.

Window and weather seals, suspension/stiffness improvements
steve2006 replied to open top's topic in Lexus SC430 Club
Below are lists of the seals for both the doors and windows and corresponding prices! The clips alone come in at over £2.00 each x 20. If the rubber is undamaged “Gummi Pledge” is good to treat it or “Back to Black” to restore the colour and freshness, that’s all I use on my 27 year old LS. Finally let’s see the car....pictures are always welcome 😀 -
I want to know how much your garage quotes you for pumping up that flat spare tyre 😀 Nothing there too concerning, we all know about the blowing Y pipe joints, the rubber shock absorber covers turn into calamari rings, number plate seems to get mentioned periodically and someone greased up the brake pipes to protect them. If you haven’t taken out “Agreed Value” and “Nil deduction salvage” options on the classic policy I would strongly suggest you do, getting one of these imported from Japan now has risen to over £10K recently

Good morning Philip and welcome to the LOC. Plenty of good advice available on the club, I’m pretty sure you will get some responses to help you decide.

Pirelli P- Zeros are so noisy though! I put a full set on mine recently ( 245/45/18-100Y)

Air Con Compressor
steve2006 replied to Crx2's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Hi Tomasz and welcome to the LOC. I have cross referenced both compressors from the Toyota parts database and they are not the same unfortunately. There are significant physical differences and mountings. There are a selection of the correct type on ebay albeit used and of unknown condition, if is just the clutch that has failed these are available as a new repair kit or maybe contact a local AC specialist for a rebuild (you will have to do this anyway if the system still contains refrigerant and to refill after replacement).
