  1. I have ordered a set:anyone out there got this combination which I had on my previous IS300? The ride on my 300 with 18" was firm & my 250 on 17" is firmer but, I am assuming my new ride will be noticeably softer than the 250 Sport (?) Tel
  2. Jack-up the car front & check that your front wheels are radially tight when the wheel bolts are just nipping the wheels:large alloy wheels can easily be mounted skew & the bolt holes can wear! Tel
  3. As I was quoted £2700 for 18" for my IS , would you mind saying how much you have paid in-lieu of your 17"? Tel
  4. Saracen, Do get the correct replacement as Lexus Screens are not nessarily dearer & your IS 250 screen is specially designed to inhibit infra-red as well as uv light:your baby deserves the best & a generic alternative is not correct on,technically, safety grounds! Tel
  5. I journey through the Alps every year & purposely use a downshift gear to maintain control NOT directly to aid the brakes which are truley superb & have given me Total Reliability in all weather conditions. Tel
  6. As a steadfast Lexohlic, yet a LOC Novice, I do feel we diehards are a touch too critical of the marque given there are clearly a few Dealers out there who do need to markedly improve their service & a GB CS Team that has been found wanting too! However, the IS250 is a superb product & most Dealers can quickly resolve "niggles" which are, ofcourse, SO disappointing & frustrating if suffered by Club Members who are in the hands of the Lame Dealers.I am near 3 good Dealers, 2 of which provide truely excellent aftersales service. CAR & TOP GEAR Magazines highly praised the car pre-launch & ,the latter, voted it Executive(small) Car of the Year:Clarkson certainly knows his stuff! On the Forum there are c. 10 cars(10 too many!) with "niggles" out of roughly 2000 registered which equates to a fault rate of 0.5% which is staggeringly good for a car manufacturer launching a leading edge design that attracts daily glances of admiration & envy from passing motorists! I love my car to bits & ,interestingly, posted a "niggle" to GB which has yet to be answered i.e why was I quoted nearly £3k. for 18" wheels which was so incredulous I decided not to let it spoil my Xmas! Tel
  7. I dont think the bluetooth is causing this- I know the car doesnt lock if you havent switched off the engine. If the car is in ignition mode, it wont lock, but you will hear a continous beeping sound. Also if you have a spare key in the car, it wont lock! These are the possible reasons I can think off..... Javeed Could easily be your Jabra System as your car performs perfectly when the unit is absent.I have the Motorola equivalent that works perfectly & fits on the sun-visor:suggest exchange a.s.a.p. Tel equivalent that happens to be much smaller than the Jabra & importantly does not interfere with electronics
  8. B)--> QUOTE(T7RY B @ Feb 14 2006, 10:47 AM) ← Here is the wheel calibration guide. As you say it's not that significant to worry about. I have 20"s on my car. Wheel link This also calculates speedo readings Fantastic! When my Sport had 18" wheels fitted from new in 2003 they needed a new N/S wheel-arch liner to prevent scuffing on full-lock! How much did they cost & who is the Manufacturer? Tel
  9. Chinny, Are you saying that if you remove the swirls on,say your bonnet, new swirls are created during the next wash even though you are washing with a brush etc.? Tried the "Gentle Washing Technique" on my friend's black Boxter that had swirls after an auto car wash! Clayed the bonnet, then polished etc. & washed yesterday:perfect:need to do the rest of the car sometime! Tel
  10. My Audi A4 was doing this in the summer last year :o . It was still under warranty. The dealers had to "hard" reset the window settings (!). Cured it. :winky: Basically it's the anti-jam facility having a cardiac...or so I was told and the reset was like what the doctors did to Tony Blair when his heart was Tachiacardic...stopped it beating and started it again using a shock :o ! While you are waiting for the fix try "using the close window/sun-roof technique" to ensure the system has closed the windows fully. Tel.
  11. But surely not at Stop Signs. That would be taking things a little too far IMO. Si Instant fail if you dont put handbrake on @ lights. Also, i would like to add that my dad owns a Merc Vito Van (2005) and his has a footbrake. Has to hold it on the cluch every single hill, as it is a mission to try to release it when moving away. Some negatives here:I am going to check mine again as I do not even get TRC light but the car feels solidly held & moves forward smoothly. TEL
  12. I have a set:Rear brand new,front 9 mnths old:£18. Tel
  13. Beleive I have a brand new set:will let you know to-morrow a.m.! Tel
  14. There are 6 Lexus Assembly Plants in Japan , the RX Factory in Canada & "Toyota Component Suppliers" all round the Globe:interestingly, Toyota /Lexus have now ceased putting their Made in Wherever label @ the top corner of the windscreen in preperation for a further shift in Global Manufacturing & Assembly with China the next logical step! Tel
  15. Jamboo, In the past I have received truly excellent response from both GB & My Dealer over a major fault on my then new IS Sport/Nav but what is of concern now is the apparent patchy response by some Lexus Specialists to the IS250:is the LOC Dealer Review the place to rapidly audit our Dealer Views which all dealers view? Tel
  16. Jamboo, Lexus's Mission Statement can be interpreted "to supply the Best Cars to their Customers & to exceed those Customers Expectation's such that their cars are an absolute delight to enjoy each & every day". Purchased my last 3 IS's from Coventry & the Team there meet the above goals:it appears others need Auditing into shape rapidly before the Crown really does slip!!!!! Tel
  17. Use Autoglym TAR REMOVER to remove glue deposits. Tel
  18. AS Saracen: ordered my Argento SEL AUTO with Sussex Grey interior on the 28th Nov. with delivery said to be within 5 days! Delivered 21st.Dec.---Best Xmas present ever!!!!!! Tel
  19. Am trialling the Motorola HF820 device that clips onto the Drivers sunvisor:cost £80 & works perfectly on test @ high speed in my lover's Yaris.Testing in my LEX tomorrow & expect even better performance due to the marked reduction in noise levels:will let you know if there is any interest out there for us paupers who have no MM! Tel
  20. Forgive me if this is already well understood, but on Autos when running-in, it is prudent to avoid FULL Kick-down for the first 2000miles if you want to maximise oil consumption & ensure the whole drive-train is bedded -in correctly. On a similar tact, I never use the "Tiptronic" for the first 2k simply to guard against maximum revs. Tel
  21. Oh s**t, is this true? At one extreme, you have a fussy freak like me and on the hand we have Mr "balls of steel " Javeed who puts his black lexus through the auto carwash. Wow. Tel, any word from your car workshop mate about other products? Use Meguiars products to minimise or erase the swirls then clean as follows from the roof downwards----- 1.Wet car thoroughly. 2.Shampoo using a softish brush & plenty of shampoo so that the Dirt is brushed into the bristles & brush parallel to the car's axis. 3.Rinse the brush in a clean bucket of water after every application of shampoo & note how much dirt is deposited in there---change water frequently. 4.Once a section is clean, flush with hose. 5.Leather & 6.Use completely "other kit" to clean wheels etc.I.E. Keep your Body Cleaning System separate. This Methodology adds 30 minutes to your normal routine but gives two clear benefits------ less dirt accidentally applied during the cleaning process & less damage to the paintwork after each & every wash. Hope this helps! Tel
  22. I,too, nearly backed-out when I was promised delivery in the 1st.wk of DEC. & finally received my Supercar 3 days before Xmas! My dealer, Lexus Coventry, gave me a second year of free servicing as I had already negotiated year one free.My Dealer was embarrassed through-out & was told by GB that the delay was due to no carpet mats @ the Importers! Suggest,as in previous posts,GB totally miscalculated demand & the Factory was caught with the rattle issue.Honesty & Transparency should be a Lexus strength but it clearly is missing @ the moment. The wait IS worth it but I will never by a Launch Model again because our Dealers are clearly not in control! Tel
  23. What is supagard? keen to try anything. When I called my dealer after the first incident he actually suggest plain water and a good chamois to wipe down. Sounds too easy to me. He said the new paint is also tougher - I haven't called him back yet to say that he is wrong - or Lexus is wrong. But after the wash last night , I took it out for a drive today and boy does it gleam in the sunlight! Just have to learn not to look too close, might not have that chance anymore, have to give the car back to the wife as school reopens tomorrow. Did not mean to offend you but note you have decided not to look too closely as Black always swirls.Have contacted my mate who runs my local BumW/Ferrari/RRoyce Body Shop to see what he can suggest as there must be many others ,who like you & I ,park under Flourescent lights in a very confined space i.e.garage. Tel
  24. Live in a hilly district & mine seems to work fine compared with my previous IS300.I haven't paused purposely between brake& throttle but my new transmission momentarily gives the secure feeling that the rear brakes are locked on:really impressive & have told/shown friends who are equally in awe!!!!
