As you would expect there are some relatively excellent new car deals to be had IF you can afford them. BMW threw in their std Xtras of auto,leather & paint whilst Mercedes had certain cars with high specs in stock although both specs were c. 6k shy of the IS.The BMW Dealer Experience was akin to Tesco's Electrical & the Merc like a City Bank with both seemingly reluctant to search for my Spec.I test drove a very nice 330i but really did miss the "toys" whilst the Merc was simply too costly. In the end I settled for a new IS which was on a Container in the Bay of Biscay with delivery quoted mid-September.The Lexus Derby experience so far has been superb with all my needs being fully met.I could have ordered the Series 5 new Spec IS but could not justify the price hike in 6 mnths. time for what amounts to very little change. Car is specced as follows----Cadaxton/Sussex Sel-Auto MM,Hoshis,Tints,Lip spoilers & Flaps:If it betters my current IS I will be in Heaven! Tel

It is clear from Steve's experiences that the Film Protection Systems completely fail to enhance the vehicle condition:far better & cheaper to Detail the car & try to minimise wear & tear issues even with very dark colours! tel

Dunlop Sportmaxx 18".16000miles so far with tread depth c. 6mm.Interestingly, the 18" ride better than the 17" equivalent even though the foot-print is bigger! Tel

Fitted my TOM TOM with a Pro-Clip Console mounting bracket that uses no screws & powered it from the 12v.supply in the centre console the set-up looking like a phone bracket when not in use.Then,after a series of tests,use a Visor Parrot which works perfectly. Total Cost c.£300. Tel.

Just returned from a 3k. holiday touring Italy.Fabulous time & superb car stats--------mpg c.33,average speed c.65mph,oil consumption neglible.On the Continental Autoroutes travelled close to 3 figure speeds & used the tip-tronic on all mountain descents to great effect.Did suffer minor stone chips, however, to the bumper area that houses the fog-lights which I guess is an aerodynamic issue. Of topical interest,Italian petrol & Diesel prices were c.15p per litre higher than the UK! Tel

A couple of points! The official Lexus Styling Kit has been available in the UK for well over a year & I would have thought any Lexus Dealer with a Bodyshop would do a cracking deal for a "group purchase". I had a Lip & Rear Spoiler fitted last Spring & although I matched Tango's $ price in £'s, of course, mine was professionally fitted with zero gaps between body panels & spoilers which is key. Tel

Mine is no worse than my 1st. generation IS's & I travel on the Continent a lot taking care to keep distance but travelling @ three figure speeds.I always Maguire prior to going & only the Bumper/Skirt shows any scars with the bonnet almost pristine with just a couple of very minor chips. Tel

There are 2 issues on a ferry:previous posts have covered the ramps:the other is parking-up which can be a night-mare with people "brushing past". Best solution to this one is book a Priority Place so that you are first on/off to minimise contact. Tel

Slipped onto the A52 towards the Derby Lexus Centre & shot into the MT fast lane when suddenly,a discrete distance behind me,was a platinum ice ISF whose frontal aspect looked large & purposeful----wheels were brighter in colour than I believed whilst the rear looked very similar to mine from a widening angle as I left the A52----awesome! On my 3 1st.generation IS cars tyre wear was never an issue & plus 40k. was achieved twice on a set of tyres given I was 99% motorway driving. As Tony has a proven track record for all Lexus tyre issues I am puzzled why you have not sought his expertise & then asked your Dealer who has tried numerous times to recompense you in some way? Tel
