  1. OEM is best but check with your Lexus Dealer if the spoiler is now painted as that can be costly.Either-way,negotiate fitting/processing costs with your Lexus Dealer who is supplying the parts & you may be pleasantly surprised re-their stock position! Tel
  2. Starts @ 1700 rpm & drops to 1300 almost immediately then c.900 rpm when I engage Reverse to exit the garage. Tel
  3. Having had a IS 300 I was initially against the 250 Auto but, after an extended Test drive in November 2005 ,the so-smooth delivery of the drive won me over & two 250's later I have zero regrets. The mk2. IS Auto deserves a class-higher niche of its own. Tel
  4. Understand it was a tolerance issue between the peg & the housing-cup that surfaced when Winter arrived & the cabin heat was maximised exposing the manufacturing fault! Tel
  5. (1).18" wheel/tyre combos combined with snow control, that significantly dampens throttle response,is fine on soft snow but completely useless in ice. (2)Have driven a few 250's , all the Fobs ,including the 2 to my own cars ,work exactly as described by Tango. (3)The Dash Rattle was due to undersized locating pins on a few cars built in the 05-May 06:thereafter the design-flaw was resolved. (4) Contractors supplemented the Lexus Workforce to March 2008 to meet Global demand & it is said their build-skills were not always spot-on:certainly my September 08 car appears to be "tighter" than my 05 issue . Tel
  6. Sorry for the late reply but there are 3 shades of Hoshi wheel colours all of which can be matched by the Specialists.'05 to early '07 were mid-grey,then dark grey to Summer '08 then chrome-effect from September 2008. A good Refurber will match your Hoshi for c.£50 & they are said to be highly corrosion resistant! Tel
  7. Dealer can access all the warranty work that your car has had since registration! Tel
  8. Welcome. You have chosen well. I have had 3 mk.1 IS 200s,one 300 & two 250 SEL-Autos that have covered c.200k. miles & have never used a drop of oil or consumed brake discs. The Launch IS 250 niggles were quite rare & resolved pretty quickly as reflected in the 80% plus Customer Loyalty figure. L.O.C. Members are real enthusiasts who represent a very small but significant body of opinion on The Lexus Experience that far surpasses any other Car Club in terms of its wide knowledge base ,friendliness & openness to all issues. Our JD Power performance underlines just how good the Lexus product is & the significant depreciation improvement over same spec. German cars cements this position. Tel
  9. Fully paid-up:do you know Admins Contact number? Tel
  10. Can anyone out there help me please as, try as I might, I cannot log on the Gold Forum even with Admins new password! Tel
  11. As a former IS 300 owner, I can tell you that the SEL-Auto is in a different league to the 300 Model which I thought the best of the Mk1 derivatives by far. Build,Economy & Smooth delivery are significantly improved along with the extra "toys", albeit @ a higher price. Tel
  12. Yes they do fit but the correct flaps are better & will last longer because of their mounting design. Tel
  13. Zero issues & on High-speed Motorway Trips regularly get c.36mpg with a high of 38.5mpg which is excellent for an average speed of 67mph.The colour is still amazing i.e.liquorice black for the majority of the time with the Dark Grey(Slate) colour hardly ever seen even in strong sun-light. Thanks to Tango I have attached @ least one picture I hope. Tel
  14. I have been told by my Dealer that the wheel corrosion issue has now been resolved but ofcourse only time will tell.My near 3year Hoshis were fine but on picking up my new car in September noticed the new Hoshis were "chrome coloured" & are much easier to clean as the surface is indeed "shiny-smooth". Indeed my 6-spoke 18" wheels on my IS 300 never corroded but my IS200 wheels were changed twice in 80000 miles/21 months back in 2002. Tel
  15. As a matter of interest when was your car built as all the creak issues were designed-out within the first 9 mnths e.g.the dash mounting pegs were enlarged to ensure a snap-fit whereas a few of the early cars pegs needed packing to secure aftermarket which required a lot of skill to fully resolve & prevent additional issues. I have had 2 x 250 Autos & certainly the latest (built July 2008) appears more refined & smoother but then it should 36 mnths into the model's build. Tel
  16. Protective film is on Steve's (West Midlands) IS ----ask him for comment as most people never seem 100% satisfied as the film goes opaque when it is damaged! Tel
  17. Just paid £50 excess but then I am insured with Lexus which, like for like, is relatively competitive. Tel
  18. Had my Screen damaged in the so-called critical A-zone that resulted in a new Lexus screen that was matched to my Chassis Number & was fitted by the excellent Lexus Derby Team. New screen trims were also fitted & the car was fully valleted.Clearly sourcing the genuine part was important to me to ensure the tint matched the front side windows which Autoglass Sandiacre & their man in Worcester(where the screen got hit) advised me to do as they normally supply their brand that may not be tinted correctly------Derby even fitted a new Security Label! Tel
  19. In all stops I have never experienced roll-back when I transfer my right foot from resting on the brake pedal to stroking the throttle to move-off so the Auto-Lock does work fine & I only use the hand-brake when I park-up transferring back to a one-foot operation the moment I need to move forward even in the Alps & Dolomites. When in France though I parked facing down a steep slope & needed to reverse & this was the only time I have ever used the foot-brake to assist moving -off. Tel
  20. No worries here as Felt is basically "inert" to temperature changes:pity Jamboo's Dealer did not resolve his issues with a little more science! Tel

  22. My Dealer gave me all the Delivery Labels & the car was actually built on the 13th/14th of July & arrived in the UK @ the end of August 2008-----there are numerous modifications e.g.according to the US forum, the steering- rack gearing was "tightened" late 2007 etcetera. All I know is my new ride is definitley more refined than previous &, like Tango, & many others I had no issues with the earlier version. Tel
  23. Can confirm my July 2008 build IS 250 is smoother & quieter than my October 2005 model which is due I believe to 2 key factors. a) the car was built by the Full Time Lexus Associates as Lexus laid-off their 800 Contract Workers in April 2008 & B) the new build benefits from the design changes executed to resolve the early "niggles" the marque could potentially suffer inclusive of allegedly soft paint.
