Ls430 Fault Code
ambermarine replied to skyway's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Allan Number 1 coil is on the first cylinder on the passenger side of the engine nearest the front of the car. -
Rudy One of the symptoms of a failing cooling fluid temperature sensor is the car runs at start up revs for up to and beyond ten minutes. This is normally 1200 revs and usually drops down to the 650 tick over that is the LS400 idle setting after 3 to 4 minutes depending on the ambient outside temperature. I found on my Mark 1 that the factory setting reappeared on installation of a new Lexus oem sensor.

Hugh Yes they do stay in place ,I suppose tearing about at high revs on them will move them about as they do not need to be stuck down under normal use.The horse bedding is more robust but I believe considerably more expensive. Pete As an ex scaffolder I would not use scaffold boards as they split and warp if kept in a wam dry environment for long periods. The 8 foot Kwikform board would be the best use of if going down that route but would be fairly expensive.

If you want a comfortable warm floor covering and you have a concrete base the foam rubberised mats that slot together are what I would use . The area in my garage in front of the work and utility area is covered with 10 tiles slotted together They are approx two feet square and I bought them in the states about 4 years ago .They can now be bought here in the UK (trawl the net). They are non slip waterproof and tough enough to take a vehicle and very easy on the soles of the feet over long periods.they are removable in section and to that end can be replaced in section if one or more or damaged or worn . They would be a very good alternative to expensive coverings with no prep work required.

Steve It is a lottery on Ebay and very difficult to get it right ,the extremes are that your awful experience was contrasted by my wonderful experience when I bought my Mark 4 three years ago. I got a mint perfect motor that was only on ebay because the owner wanted too much for it when he tried to sell it through the normal resale channels. I got him down on price but still stole it and I had always stated I would never buy a car on Ebay.

I agree with Rayann in respect of his" Carlisle Lexus Description" ,many years ago when my mark1 was about 10 years old I mulled over the idea of downsizing to a 300 . I trawled the web for local dealers and the only one that had anything was Carlisle. The Scottish dealerships were not in existence then apart from Arnold Clark who have since lost theirs. I made an appointment for a saturday morning and duly arrived on time after the 120 mile journey. The salesmen (I use the word salesmen in a generic sense because he was'nt my Idea of one) I had spoken to on the phone did not appear for another fifteen minutes as he was talking to someone who had just walked in off the street and shown an interest in something. He eventually came over and said the car I was viewing needed a wash so that was being done now, another 15 minutes went buy and a very harassed guy screamed into view with the car.It had not been chamied and was dripping wet the engine bay looked like a building site had been dropped in and this salesman started pulling out wreathes of paperwork from a file proclaiming how clean and well looked after this wreck was.I stopped his waffle and directed him to my Mark I and lifted the bonnet I told him in no uncertain terms that what he was looking at was looked after ,got in my car drove away never to go near the place again .I do drive by on the M6 and can see the sign thinking what a lucky escape I had.

Gavin The Differential oil should be changed every 36000 miles on the Mark 4 so I would imagine that it will be a similar period on the 430 as they are virtually the same diff.If Lexus were still servicing your car during that mileage time it is probable it as been changed and they could have over filled it, hence the damp .

I have had the same thoughts since the move onwards from the LS400 The 430 was a step backwards and there have been issues with the 460s . In the defence of Lexus engineers they have not had the funding that went with the LS400 initial concept from new scenario and they did have ten years after the initial launch to perfect the LS400 . They will not ever get that again with a new model as their competitors and the market place move too fast in the modern age of car design. So to sum up I think that the LS400 Mark 4 was as near as you will get to perfection in a Luxury sedan in its class.

Just as an afterthought the flotation device moves up and down a column that contains some kind of electrical diode / resistor, so there is some metal inside the float that triggers the said diode/resistor. Consequently the idea of just putting a blank float in place will not work. The tutorial is effective if done properly.

Damien Take a look in the engine bay when the A/C is first switched on there is a thick metal pipe, it as a valve on it with a grey plastic cover, on the passenger side of the car that goes from the firewall ( Engine Bulkhead) alongside the engine to the radiator/condensor at the front .This pipe will have frost on it if the A/C is working to capacity. It will not frost up when the engine bay is warmed up so check it at first start up. You will need to remove the top plastic engine covers to view this area.

I had the problem on my Mark 4 the day I bought it I noticed it was on that was when the car had 18k on it so it was time immersed in water that causes the problem.I followed the tutorial after I had bought a new one and it worked fine as I sold it on ebay to someone in Germany who thought it was a new one when he received it and I got nearly as much for that as the new one cost.
