  1. Well that's it, I sold the GS last week for £3900. :D

It was fun to own a Lexus, and I really loved driving it, but it was burning holes in my pocket at a rapid rate.

My local Tesco petrol station now know be by name :excl: Not a good sign i'd say :eerrrmm:

I've now bought a 99 VW 1.8 Turbo GTI, which is lotta of fun :driving: The missus has a Bora 130 TDI Sport so we have come over all German  Watch out Basil, don't mention the war! :winky:

    Goodbye GS, c'est la vie.

  2. my bro' is looking for a motor, what sort of price you got in mind.

The car owes me about 5K, but i'm open to offers.

    For your info.

107k on clock, and a full lexus history except for the last B service which was carried out by P&P Motors of Cardiff at 103k. MOT til Dec 06 taxed till end Aug06. Recent work includes new brake pads all round, new front lower ball joints, front caliper, 4 Dunlop Sport 9000 tyres ( cost over £600), and full geometry set up.

The car is exceptional condition inside & out, and the only known fault is 1 of the 3 bulbs behind the tach has blown. A/C blows cold and absolutely everything works. I have never had to top the oil up since i've owned the car, it just doesn't use any at all! Lexus Cardiff inspected the car recently when I put it in for gearbox fluid change, and the car received a clean bill of health.

I also have 2 spare Dunlop Sport 9000 275/35/18 6/7mm tread left on them, and set of NGK platinum plugs which i'll throw in.

That's a great shame........ couldn't the other one go

The other car is a very sensible 02 VW Bora TDI 130 sport, which also happens to be a great car.

    Paul

If you don't sell your car through the owners club would you consider selling the spare rear tyres separately as I could do with a set of spare rear tyres at the moment.

Nobody seems to want the car, but loads of you want the tyres. I'd except £4k for the car.

If someone would like to clarify the forum rules in regard of posting pics of the tyres then please do, and if its ok i'll post pics for you all.

  4. Oh well, the wife has just found out that she's pregnant again, and there's no way we can afford the luxury of 2 cars. So i'll be putting my beloved GS300 Sport up for sale soon.

It's been a great car, and i'd love to see it go to a good home so if any member is interested in buying my 97 GS300 Sport pm me and i'll give you the full low down. Otherwise it's going on autotrader & eBay.

  5. ..... cos I have been seduced by another car and I just don't have enough space.

Most of you will think im completely barmy. Im hankering after a 1984 Rover SD1 Vanden plas EFI.

If you have to ask why, you will never understand. I have strange car taste. I think the Citroen XM is a stunning piece of art to look at.

The Rover is being sold by a friend who is the second owner. Its got full SH and has never been welded since it was assembled and everything works on it.

If i can clear my garage out of three quaters of a Stag and leave the MX5 outside then the lex may well get a stay of execution but we will have to see.

Yes, im bonkers but what the hell. :crybaby:

Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

I've owned 2 SD1 Vitesse's, and they are a lot more fun than the GS300. My last Vitesse was a hoot after I had thrown a heap of money at it. i.e. 3.9 engine from Real Steel, Holley carb Edelbrock inlet manifold ( A vast improvement on the primitive & sometimes troublesome OEM EFi system), Stainless tubular headers & exhaust, adjustable Koni suspension (40 mm drop), Jag brakes, polished & ported heads & even nitros at one time! It left quite a few BMW M3's for dead! ha ha :winky:

SD1's are rarer than rocking horse sh*t these days especially Efi's & Vitesse's.

    ENJOY!

  6. Anyone know where i can get this info?

Was trying to fit my DVD/Stereo system tonight and got a spark off one of the connectors Yes i know i should have disconnected the battery....but anyway...sh*t happens as they say.

Also now the central locking doesnt work and the stock stereo doesnt light up (text is displayed but no back light). Im guessing a fuse has gone somewhere.

By any chance does anyone possibly know where it is? Looked under the bonnet but all seems ok and doubt its one of those anyway.

    Cheers peeps

The second fuse box is located behind a panel on the trim next to the gas pedal.

  7. hi i'm new to this, i bought a gs300 mk1 (97) couple of months ago and well its not all been wonderful, new tyres (ouch) cd player packed up after a week (still no joy there) so i thought i give it a damn good service the full works until i got to the plugs new plattys in hand and oh my *** what to do next. is there a simple way to change them ???

No there isn't an easy way to change the plugs! You have to remove the throttle body to get at the middle 2. :tsktsk: There are instructions on how to do it somewhere on the forum. Do a forum search and you'll find it.

  8. I was chatting to my mechanic earlier this evening about this. He owns an 2001 Impreza WRX, and he was telling me that all the local Scooby owners swear by Tesco Super Unleaded.

Who knows what is actually in the forcourt tanks, but I just got 100 city miles on £20 of super unleaded, and i've never got more than 85 miles on 95 RON.

My car just feels smoother and more responsive to me, but maybe my butt is lying to me!

  9. In the past I have tried BP ultimate and Shell optimax in my 97 2.2 Prelude vtec, and I could never feel or see any difference in either consumption or performance.

I have done the same with the GS300 Sport, and yet again I could see no improvement, however over the past month or so when filling up I have been swapping between full tanks of Unleaded and Super Unleaded, and i'm now convinced that Tesco Super Unleaded gives me better performance and mpg.

Has anyone else experienced the same?

  10. [Here's a pic of one of my wheels prior to being refurbished. The locking bolt head isn't allen type, but some sort of security bolt. The key that I have is plastic and very worn.

With the part number i gave you, you will now get a metal key instead of a plastic one as they are prone to wearing

Thanks Gecco 8, i've been in Scotland fror a few days, but I will call Lexus Cardiff tomorrow with the part number.

    Paul.

  11. If the Wheels are the proper Lexus sports wheels then a kit can be bought for a £3.21 +Vat which is a new key and i think four nuts for the centre caps.  The part number is PZ439-10671-2P and any Lexus dealer can get them in about 2 days.

I'll try Lexus Cardiff with that part no, but when I enquired a few weeks ago they told me before that you had to buy a new centre cap to get the key £55.28 inc vat.

  12. HI ALL

WONDER IF ANYONE CAN ENLIGHTEN ME?? I need to find out what the tyre pressures should be for my mk1 GS300 sport...with the 10'' Rear wheels...Does anyone know??

Any help would be greatfully recieved.

Also, the proper settings for wheel alignment..camber etc...as I have heard these are different from the standard gs300.

Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL..

                              Jeff  :winky:

I put 34psi all round in mine.

Here's a link to ponder over regarding wheel alignment

  13. n/s/r stop light has stopped working, and it's not a blown bulb!

For the past 2 days my brake system warning light has been intermitantly coming on. I checked the fluid level and the rear stop lights, but they seemed to be ok, but last night n/s/r stop went out. So assumimg it was a blown bulb I went out and bought a new one, however when I pulled the old one out it looked ok nevertheless I stuck the new one in, but no joy it's still not working. Any idea's anyone?
