  1. ACAS would also be a good place to start, I rang them years ago when I had a problem with my contract and they give good advice. You should be able to get the number from the phone book or your local Citizen's Advice Bureau. Is your wife planning to stay there? If not, tell them you'll take it to the press...if it's a big chain they won't want the adverse publicity.
  2. When the fuel light comes on, I can normally get another 40 miles out of the tank if I have to... pushing it a bit though
  3. I don't know about Stu, but the stumbling block to that one is usually the deposit you need to buy a place. My brother and his girlfriend want to move in together and have just found that one out! They're looking to rent now.
  4. Prague's a lovely place, I went about 10 years ago when I was a student and would love to go back and see what it's like now. You should win some brownie points with your good lady if you took her to Prague, Paris is a little bit of a cliche (in my humble opinion)
  5. Glad it went your way and thanks for the tips! What are the implications to the Nissan driver - will they now lose their NCB or do the insurers just take the hit? I agree 100% with your comments - I've just had a claim settled in my favour after an accident last August when I was hit by a lorry. Like you I didn't have a camera at the time so went back the next day to take photo's of the road etc. I found that my insurer filled in the accident details on the claim form for me from our phone conversation. When it was sent to me, on the advice of my brother who works in insurance, I crossed out the 2 lines they'd written and wrote my own comprehensive account and attached the photo's. Although it's taken about 5 months to get sorted, my solicitor said it was invaluable information in getting the insurers to find in my favour, refund my excess and restore my NCB :)
  6. Go for it! It's a lovely car... I even like the colour :D
  7. Good outcome then, glad they were reasonable about it :)
  8. I'd be a tad worried about them being not 100% legit if they only accept cash or cheques and don't issue receipts
  9. Sorry to hear your sad news, my thoughts are with you. I hope this leads to something more positive with you and your dad.
  10. Have a look at some of the events/dates that have been added: http://www.clubmeets.com/forums/index.php?showforum=22
  11. Sounds as though you've got a good deal there. I pay just under £600 fully comp for my 3 year old IS200 Sport, am 29 with 1 years NCB. Am looking at quotes for a GS300 Sport and the cheapest so far is £1100 :o Will be ringing some more places at the weekend...!
  12. My dad got rear-ended by a car whose driver decided it was best to scarper. Dad and several witnesses got the make and model of the car, the majority of the reg number and a description of the driver. The police duly attended and took all the details giving dad a crime reference number. Several weeks later he got a letter saying that the police did not have enough evidence to prosecute. 'Never mind' says dad, 'can you let my insurers have the driver details to go through the insurance for the damage'.... Turns out the driver was uninsured. Police sent him a letter asking him to present his details at the local station as it's illegal to drive without insurance. Surprise, surprise, the driver never showed, the letter was never followed up and my dad whistled for the costs. To add insult to injury, they wouldn't give the insurers the driver's details as it's against the data protection act :shutit: Any wonder why people don't bother with insurance? It's bloomin expensive, and there's little to no chance of being caught. I'd never do it, but I have morals and the luxury of a regular income to help pay for mine.
  13. After spinning my car in the snow last year, I decided cowardice was called for last night and this morning so have been cadging lifts from my husband who drives a Honda accord Aerodeck. Getting a lift home tonight from a colleague in his VW Golf. Ah, I could get used to being chauffeured B)
  14. I'm using Zymol stuff on my car at the moment and really rate it. It's easy enough to get hold of from Halfords. Regarding the alloys, if I've not touched them in a couple of weeks (a rarity, usually I wash the car every weekend) then I use Autoglym's alloy wheel cleaner and a nylon brush to get the worst off. Usually though, it's just sponged down with soap and water and they come up a treat. Have you seen the auto detailing pages on the forums? Loads of advice on there...
  15. It's already been booked for LOC and is in the events calendar :) We just need to work out which 4 club cars get the coveted indoor display space. Gold members step forward please....!

  17. Er, and also add something that'll prevent Mr Grove seeing what I've spent on mine lately
  18. On my New Years' diet...so Salt 'n' vinegar Snack-a-Jacks for me!
  19. That's a good price Tony - do you have to pay extra to get them fitted or is that included in the price?
  20. Glad she's ok - cowards like that chap are more likely to carry a weapon of sorts, but I'd like to think I'd have done the same. Good on her and glad it turned out ok. He's not pressing charges against her, but could she press charges against him? Bet you're dead proud of her (rightly so 'n' all!). Well done Mrs Fargo, Girl Power! :D
  21. Looks bad Tony. It may be worth seeing a doctor about your neck, they might recommend physio etc. May also be worth putting some heat around it to relax the muscles more - it's painful if they spasm.
  22. Sounds highly dubious to me!!!
  23. I love marmite but 'im indoors hates it. He won't come near me if I've eaten it Marmite on buttered toast or marmite, cheese and cucumber sarnies - yummy!
  24. That's who I thought it was, dunno though!
  25. Spot on Dodgy. How many coppers would really stop you for speeding 5-10 miles an hour over the limit, on an empty road in the early hours of the morning? Speed cameras lost the sympathy of the majority of the general public when they just became a cash cow h
