  1. Oh, and back on topic - I went for the GS300 Sport after my IS200 Sport. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I grow up (and win the lottery) I want a GS430. Other cars that take my fancy are the Jag XK8 and for some unbeknown reason a Caterham 7.
  2. Nope, they only do the auto IS300 over here. The main difference is the larger engine (obviously) but it does feel like a slightly different drive. The Altezzas you see people posting is a Jap-import Lexus - same shape as the IS200 but more power. I think that they only have a cloth interior although some of the Tezza boys will tell you more!
  3. I've been averaging 270 miles on a bad week and 300 miles on a good week for petrol consumption. Not sure what that works out mpg - but I run it on Optimax rather than bog-standard unleaded. I would say watch out for damage on the front spoiler/lip on the sport and just generally quality of paintwork/wheels etc. I imagine on a car with the mileage you're looking at may have a few corrosion marks on the alloys but that's about it really. Someone more technical on here will advise on what to look for mechanically I suspect! Happy hunting!
  4. Well, I suppose I can't really complain, I've been to the events the previous two years in a row!
  5. Hi Nige, Glad life seems to be treating you well! Good news on the Lex and good to see you back!
  6. If we aim to meet up from 10.30am - ok for everyone?
  7. McAfee's quite good too although not free, think it's about £30.
  8. I certainly felt the difference driving in the IS this morning and had great fun whizzying around corners and flinging it about. I washed and waxed it on Saturday so it's still looking good and it's parked outside the office window so I can see it until it's picked up. Have to spend some extra TLC on the GS this weekend now to make up for all the attention the IS is getting!!!
  9. Thanks to JohnBoy1 for getting this kicked off. The meet has been confirmed for the 6th June at The Donington Park MUSEUM in the Senna Fangio Memorial Gardens. There is a discounted entrance price of £5pp should you wish to visit the Grand Prix Collection Museum. Please note we are being charged for the venue and as such will be asking for a charitable donation per person (min £5 please) to be made to the museum towards the upkeep of the garden. The Club is paying for food (please bring drink), BBQ, Chiller unit and the transportation, and will also be paying towards the hire of the venue. Please post your names below so that we can get numbers for the food. Thanks,
  10. Not wishing to steal John's thunder as he ultimately got the ball rolling, but.... we are booked in at the Donington MUSEUM in the Ayrton Senna Memorial Gardens on 6th June (a Sunday). There is a discounted entrance price of £5pp should you wish to visit the Grand Prix Collection Museum. Please note we are being charged for the venue and as such will be asking for a charitable donation per person (min £5 please) to be made to the museum towards the upkeep of the garden. The Club is paying for food (please bring drink), BBQ, Chiller unit and the transportation, and will also be paying a substantial amount for the hire of the venue. I will start a new thread for you to post if you are coming or not, so that we can get an accurate picture of numbers to cater for food. I'm not sure if I can make it or not, but am trying to rearrange things, but I hope you'll all agree after the event that it was worth the wait. Big thanks to John for getting this kicked off!
  11. It was better for a couple of days then started again. There's not a huge amount of difference between hard braking or just touching the brakes, but I do tend to be quite light with them.
  12. ;) You're just rubbing it in now! I don't think I'll get an invite, I've not given them much business in the past
  13. Wahhhh, I wanna go to the Bracknell event...
  14. <sigh> well by this time tomorrow my IS200 Sport will have been collected and taken away by Lex Vehicle Leasing. Although I love my GS300 Sport to bits, I am really sorry to see the IS go. The first new car I've ever driven, first sensible (ahem) family car and it got me acquainted with LOC I guess all good things come to an end though and the GS makes it a little less painful. I feel all 'growned' up now B)
  15. :o :o :o Just seen the photos - you'll find it wasn't the Lexus design that kept you safe, it was the LOC sticker on the front screen ;) Really chuffed you and the lorry driver are ok though, it does look very nasty...
  16. If the alloys have't been well looked after then you'll get some pitting and corrosion, and check the bonnet for bad stone chips!
  17. Glad you're around to tell us about it matey. Hope you're ok...have a whisky for the shock!
  18. Thanks for the understanding :mat:
  19. Just the bog-standard ones from Lexus... Could it be anything to do with the brake dust? I've never had a car so bad for brake dust everywhere! Bob, you are indeed a scholar and a gentleman! Thanks, I may take you up on that if it doesn't improve.
  20. If people have any sense they'd join Gold [;-)] Anyway, in any 'families' there's always some bickering. We actually only put it on to provide entertainment value. In reality all Gold members live in a hippy commune in the South of France and have group hugs every morning - but of course, it's too boring to say that on the forums, so we have to pretend to have a moan every now and again. . . . . hmmm, I should really lay off the caffeine!
  21. Bobski was an absolute star and checked my brakes for me a little while ago as I thought they needed replacing (screeching). The upshot was that I still have loads of mileage to get out of them but they are driving me insane screeching all the time - they sound as though they're down to the screech pins. It's worse in warm weatherb and there's no wheel wobble - any ideas? I'd appreciate any advice...
  22. Peeps, Hold on a mo', it is being organised and it's being sorted. This isn't a hard thing to sort out but bear in mind I've been back online for less than a week and would usually have been able to offer more help for a meet. I've left a message for Donington and am chasing in between working 12-14 hour days (and no let up over a weekend) and trying to have some semblance of a home life. Yep, my problem and I wouldn't do it if I didn't give a big fat poo about LOC ;-) Same goes for the rest of the committee! Just trying to illustrate a point. Please cut us/me some slack and wait - there's not a huge amount of point posting when John and I have left messages etc, but you will hear when it's all sorted, done and dusted and ready for you all to turn up and have fun! Please be patient - it'll happen, it'll be good and the usual standard of LOC meets. Cheers all
