Eek. Have tried resetting the ECU as I wondered if it was a bit excessive (ahem). I don't drive it particularly hard but most of my driving is town driving to and from work. I usually get 270 miles out of a tank, sometimes more if Mr Grove hasn't borrowed it. Will try the chocolate buttons tip...!

Just worked out the mpg on my GS to be around the 21 mark. 270 miles typically on £50 worth of petrol....ah, but it's just the BEST fun!

St Marks Road - Maidenhead?! A few months ago you'd have seen my IS there as that's where my folks live! Look out for my blue GS300 Sport - I work in Maidenhead and my folks and the out-laws live there.

Washing Mats?

Years ago my husband was a car valeter and he used to wash the mats with the jet wash when he did the cars. Takes a while to dry, but works well enough! -

I usually have the other problem - nice car, shame about the dealer! Maybe he had a 'bum' car - noisy etc. Could have been the tyres, anything really. No accounting for taste!

My last company I used to get 40p per mile. This was my own car and I didn't get an (official) car allowance.

Have a look on http://www.acas.org.uk/ - good for employee law and advice. Give them a call as well, they'll be able to offer guidance on this. If you've got it all in writing I can't see your company has a leg to stand on.

Don't you find you need to rinse the car off first? I'm worried about scratching the paintwork by rubbing in the dirt/grit you pick up from the road.
