Foxgoose,
I thought I was reading something I had written there - my thoughts are exactly the same as you. I had to reverse up towards a window just to check the lights were coming on! It is very difficult to see out the back and with the camera, and as for the view throught the mirrors forget it! Just edge back slowly and hope you don't hit anything! ;) I prefer the old fashioned way of reversing anyway - just tend to use the camera for distance from the post/wall etc
My mileage certainly seems to have dropped this last few weeks since the cold weather. I think it is that my journey to work is about 3-4 miles country (ish) roads then a quick 3 mile blast on the motorway, so the engine hardly has time to warm up and get ticking over? Mine is certainly run in now at 5.5k miles.
Got to say that I am not amazed by the mileage but love the car overall. I find that when I get into other half's LS that I am constantly trying to get some 'e's!!
So what do you reckon is the best driving style to maximise mileage? I have to say I have slowed down since acquiring it, I always used to bomb up and down motorways at 90+ in my IS and was fairly nippy on the A roads, but now do about 80 on mways and drive 'sensibly' on the A roads?
One thing I guess that is useful is that there is less chance of adding to my 6 points with this style!!

BTW, I read a very good write up of it yesterday in my Fathers Farmers Weekly!?!

29.6 for the last 800 miles. Have had it up to 33 and down at 25 at times.
Recent journeys have been South Coast to Yorkshire doing about 80-85 on motorways. My commute to work though is 5 mins rural and 5 mins motorway which isn't too good for the economy as the engine doesn't really get time to get 'warmed up'

With the way people cut in front of you on the road here I couldn't imagine anything worse!
Other drivers - it's what takes the pleasure out of cruise control!

Damian, Thanks for your reply.
It looks like you are correct, so I will have to do without it :(
Rather a shame though,I now hear that it is available in certain cars such as some Mercedes models. I wonder if I can import the kit from USA or Japan....

So the brakes won't overheat AND the batteries are charged perfectly. It's more for rolling down a serpentine.
I was told it was for braking only - less wear on your brakes and it does of course recharge

Sorry, had a technical trauma there!!
I have had some stealth moments in car parks but nobody has ever turned round to see me there (more's the pity!)
I am tempted to blow the horn but that would be a bit mean and frighten them to death and then i would be frowned at for being an irresponsible ***** 4x4 owner (don't think they would notice I was 'green')
I will have to perfect my "ooh I'm sorry did I startle you" look ...........

Come on then hybrid owners tell us your stories.....
Mine today in Marks and Spencer’s car park in Edinburgh. Car park stealth mode engaged as always, crept up behind two ladies walking in the middle of road. And 'surprise'. One looked round, got both feet off the ground, clutched heart on landing and then said oh my G*d.
So any more stories.....
I think we should work towards the first hybrid wetting gate affair.

Hi,
I'm a new member too and have been reading your posts with interest.
I picked up my 400 a couple of weeks ago and love it!! I love seeing how many'E's I can generate on a journey - I have to say it has eased my heavy foot on the accelerator!! Although it does get a little foot down operation from time to time and it is great to know that it is there.
Economy is good too, 31.2 mpg on the last tank, mixture of motorway and town driving.
As for pedestrians, the worst place is supermarket car parks, they have no idea you are behind them and it would be awfully rude to pip the horn at them :)

Would recommend it. We have one in OH's LS, he must have got the modem etc as we update from a mac. It spotted one of those new distance measuring camera set-ups the other day which we were well impressed with as we hadn't spotted anything.
Colour and appearance wise - goes great in my RX400 (being girlie here I suppose!)
