  1. I can see no earthly reason why Rachel Reeves shouldn’t be held to account on any propensity to lies on her CV Especially if it involves her in the HBOS debacle and any personal gross incompetence Malc

  2. Maybe a bit of useless info, but I've been a bit obsessed with car security since since I bought my last car, a stealable, black Hyundai Tucson. On that car the the key fobs went to sleep after a few minutes of lack of movement and stopped sending signals to the car, thereby preventing relay theft. I don't know exactly how long it is before the fob goes to sleep, but I left my fob undisturbed for 7 mins which was long enough. I asked the sales person when I picked up my car on Friday if my fobs did the same, but he didn't know, so today I experimented and the answer is yes yes they do - I'd have been disappointed if they didn't in this day and age. Yes I know there's a way to disable keyless entry via the fob and this applies to my car and so I can't speak for other years and models, but I'd like to think that any model coming out of the factory recently will have the same feature. I don't rely solely on this feature and keep my fobs in a Faraday box and generally use a Stoplock as well, but it's good to know that my fobs have this feature.

  3. Perhaps I should have written this in my introduction, but it does involve baring ones soul a little, which I'm not prone to usually, But it's my hope that I will keep my Lexus for a while, so I'll be involved in this forum as a matter of course. Very late in my life I discovered that I have Aspergers (a form of autism). Apart from it being a lightbulb moment, it means that my brain has different wiring to the majority of folks, a part of which means that I can be very blunt and forthright e.g. I don't suffer fools easily and can appear rude. It could be construed that I shouldn't be on a public forum, but I have a need to ask questions like anyone else and I feel (and have proven in the past) that I often have a helpful input in this situation. This is not an excuse for rudeness, but it is a reason and so I apologise in advance if I upset anyone. I'd like to say it's not intentional, but sometimes it is because there are people on the planet who shouldn't be allowed out without a carer. Feel free to tell me take a hike if this is inappropriate and thankyou for the welcomes, help and advice so far.👍

  4. Malc you will see my LS430 on day. Someone sent me a message about a jap fest gathering of all types of Japanese cars. Only issue is it's in south of England so need to book some holiday and hotel.

  5. We don't have speed bunps, we've got craters with bits of tarmac around them. No I don't drive fast just roll into craters and crawl out slowly. Best bit is every built up area is now 20mph. If only we could go that fast 🤣. A9 is only decent bit of tarmac for miles.

  6. You need to report the vehicle stolen to the Police first & obtain a crime reference number. Tracker require that crime reference number before they will trigger the tracker & start sharing the vehicles location with the Police.

  9. It was a 2007 LS460 SE_L my first Lexus and I was hooked, bought in 2015. Quality and technical aspects were as good as the LS500h but the LS460 didn't have the RSR Ottoman option which is standard for the LS500h Pleat Model. Twin screens in the LS500 for in car entertainment whereas the LS460 had the single screen mounted in the headlining. Both cars have the highest level of trim with the LS500 simply being more up to date in terms of design and with a superior body design. No big deal giving the LS500 up. We are going down to one car between the 2 of us as the wife stands no chance of dealing with a car over 5 meters long when she is coming out of a Toyota Yaris Hybrid. We are both over 70 and a car like the CHR is a car she can drive if she needs to. I've had a CHR before but the latest version has enough equipment but the interior is bland and synthetic. We can save a fair bit of money too with one car as insurance premiums alone are getting out of hand and with what this draconian Government are going to do with road tax next year I'm not giving the Insurance companies or the Government more opportunities of putting their hands in my pocket for more cash than necessary.

  10. You’re quite right Dan. But more importantly, Dealers should know the dangers posed by metal dust caps! As I mentioned early on in this thread, I discovered that I had one metal dust cap when I tried to remove it and discovered it was corroded solid onto the valve. A helpful passerby tried to remove it - and snapped the TPMS valve off, resulting in a trip to a nearby tyre retailer and £75 for a new valve. I too then got a new set of plastic caps. If someone’s determined to use metal ones, make sure they’re well greased. Failing that, a touch of Vaseline will do the job.

  13. I don’t know all or indeed any of the HBOS problem other than Lloyds Bank got shafted by the Govt of the day to take it over. And it caused Lloyds Bank immense unprecedented horror issues to its balance sheet …… and for its shareholders if Rachel Reeves was implicit in any of that debacle then she must now be held to account …….. surely 🤔 Malc

  17. Indeed. If someone applied for a normal job and lied on their cv, it's a criminal offence called fraud. For some reason, the Chancellor doesn't think it applies to her...

  18. I think so......the small internal battery would not be able to record for more than a minute or two. The dashcam manual states it starts recording in parking mode when it detects 'physical movement ' of the vehicle. Mine is triggered when I sit on the seat.....perhaps I need to lose a few pounds....

  21. I took my car infor a service once, having replaced the metal caps for plastic ones. The car came back with the plastic ones gone and shiny metal ones back on, plus a bill for 4 x £21 for each of them. I told them to put the old ones back and they said they binned them, so I told the to F**K off and trawl through the bins to find them and I was knocking £50 off the bill for wasting my time. In the end they gave me the £50 off and found some silver looking plastic ones free of charge. I just wish they would ask first before they just do things that are outside of the service.

  29. Hi Jim and thankyou for your advice. Just a few minutes ago I wrote and posted this in my introduction thread. Another part of this is that I'm awful at learning from reading, I just coudn't swot for exams at school, which is why I was asked to leave at age 15. I can learn things from reading, but usually I learn fro poking about and repetition - I'll get there in the end. Perhaps I should have written this in my introduction, but it does involve baring ones soul a little, which I'm not prone to usually, But it's my hope that I will keep my Lexus for a while, so I'll be involved in this forum as a matter of course. 36. As above, if you don't have the ability to check and confirm yourself, how are you going to be certain it is back within spec after adjusting(which can be a huge can of worms in itself with seized bolts etc.). If it is out then the next question is why, could be down to worn bushes or a number of other causes. Best to take it to somewhere that can check and advise what the root cause is, and hopefully have enough experience to deal with any difficult bolts along the way too.

  37. What are you comparing it to? Difficult to see with only half of the hub visible and the camera at an unknown angle. You need a decent reference plane or 2 to be able to set the alignment. That is why the laser systems are so good. Light travels in VERY straight lines in air. If you think it's out, take it to an alignment specialist and get it checked/adjusted. At some places the check is free.

  38. It would be interesting to know your opinion... what sort of person you would need to be to buy it? I assume one would buy it to sit in the back of it and the driver is more of hired employee... somehow can't see any vip taxi drivers spending £113k on something that customers may not appreciate over say S-Class. Then assuming you buying one to be in the back of it... would you rather be in the back of say RX or LS, or the same old S-Class, or rather get out from LM? I guess the point I am getting to... what is this car for? Especially in UK! I understand in some south-eastern Asian countries this body style is appreciated, but what kind of person one would need to be to have one in UK? What is the value proposition? So one would have to be the person that spends a lot of time on the road, something in excess of 2 hours a day, somebody who needs basically an office space whilst on the move, yet somebody very rich to pay £100k+ price for the car and hire a driver for it... I just don't believe there are such people in UK, not more than 10 of them anyway. No matter how comfortable and impressive are back seats I just can't see any utility in them, certainly no more utility then one can get from 45min ride in S-Class or Range Rover from their office in London to their Private Jet... and then they can do work in the Jet... or if they have their Jet in regional airport (say something like EMA)... then they probably will get into helicopter and fly there... so their ride will be 15 min to closest London Heliport and then 25 min flight to regional airport. Where does LM fit in all this? For popping into Harrods? Again apart very few Asian ambassadors who used to this type of body style... most people would be embarrassed stepping out of one of these if impressing others is their goal. LM is impressive in many ways (it is impressively ugly for one), but I just can't wrap my head around their target market in UK. It is even less desirable than luxury pick-up truck in UK. Just not the type of car witch people would like to be seen in the back of and considering the price very few would want to drive one either. I don't know, maybe I am missing something here, and maybe as you have been in one you could enlighten me - who is it for?

  39. I will edit this post as long as I can need some pictures etc.. Nr 1, Cavity wax 100% neutral and only makes a film and used in closed space like doors, sills, frames etc.. every 3-5 years Nr 2, Cavity wax.. except got some rust solvent properties like Fluid Film used on older cars ( I always got that and use it in many ways). I use ONLY pressure can 4-6 bars... Nr 3, Bitumen type coating only used on 100% clean and perfect surface (new paint or treated rust spots) when brushing min 2 layers. Nr 4. Underbody coating that is thick and only serves to protect from stones etc.. sometimes rubberized. I do not use it on older cars.. Nr 5, yes.. I do not use it but some do and that is Rubberized spray under sills and paint over it. It sounds good but on older cars you could trap the moist and it could rust inwards without showing. Then we got three categories of cars, new (less than 3 weeks on the road) 2, nice cars but underbody with surface rust and then cars that need rust repairs. My 2017 Lexus is treated with Dinitrol line from the workshop that Toyota/Lexus uses here in my country. Before they get my car I take out all panels in the trunk I can and there goes cavity wax. I am starting to rustproof/soundproof.. the places that are not done in the workshop like the inner fender.. The paint there is pristine so I clean it 100% first Tare remover then Paint thinner and finally Azetone then 2x waxing (Soft99 that is to close the paint) then 2 layers of Tectyl (Bitumen type). Yes there was a minor less noise from that tire. My tires are 72db uhh My winter and working car is a Hyundai Getz CRDi 2008" 210k+ km bought him 8 years ago.. and it had only got one underbody (the original) rustproofing and nothing else, and that car gets no special treatment.... we use salt on the roads over the winter time here and it can get really ugly at times. For paint rust spots I use rust converter x3 layers + primer on top, Waxing does not do the job. When I change the oil I usually give him spray where it is dry but always full underbody layer before inspection. The whole floor inside the car including under the spare tire gets (just need to do this once) 100% cleaning and rust converter where needed then Fluid film over the whole floor and cover it with FOOD FILM (yes it works) no smell and it never dries up and it completely stopped the rusting under the spare tire. I got into a new problem with the Getz now and that was the original underbody coating was started to peel off (there was a minor thin brown rust lines), when I coated it so after few rounds with the can all lose was gone so I cleaned it all with kitchen paper (**** dirty) Fluid film on it (thin layer) few days later brushed Tectyl over it, yes it does mix but the Tectyl will not harden, after a year we will se how this last... but that part of the car looks like new.. smile.

  43. That's terrible news. I was looking to make a post wondering just how good the immobiliser is and how secure a stock SC430 is? i guess i have my answer. I would be happy to help keep a look out. I live in the Midlands and do 1,500 business miles per week up and down the UK (not in the 430). Since we purchased ours in early August i havent seen another 430 on the road anywhere. I was wondering how many are left on UK roads, i guess like mine it spends most of its life parked up in my garage? Hope you get it back

  44. I hope you get it back OK. The SC is an unusual target so I am surprised as it is not that easy to move on and generally they are not high value now. Mine is in the road and i am a bit paranoid so I use a Disklok, have a tracker fitted and when I remove my throttle controller even if you manage to start the engine it won’t respond to any accelerator input and stays on idle. I have to say I would be absolutely gutted if this happened to me.

  46. Hope there is a special place in hell for these people. Mario is it appropriate to ask for a very general location? Also, it might help you to give some car details. Some of us (me) spend a fair amount of time looking at SC430's and if we see anything new that might be yours we can report back. Really sorry my lad, you must be gutted.
