  1. Just last week I had a snide comment from an acquaintance about me running an olde worlde dinosaur of a car. Apparently I should be ashamed of myself, and him having spent £45k on an all electric car (Peugeot E-3008) makes him a superior human being to me,.... so I started to explain to him about limited resources, about the real cost of recycling vs reusing, about open-cast lithium mines, about the fact that his car probably would not last the 21 years mine has already lasted, about the fact that I only spent £4400 seven years ago on my dinosaur, about the fact that I work from home and probably produce less total annual greenhouse gases than he does due to my low annual mileage, and finally about the fact that he was a self important little ****hole who could **** off and die for all I cared. So, he's no longer speaking to me, which is a relief. 🤣 A friend who overheard the brief altercation got a stitch from laughing after the ****hole stormed off. 😁 Ella thought I was a little harsh, but she smiled when she said it. ❤️

  2. Given I was a bit hesitant before I purchased (for fun, mostly) some stuff for the car, I thought I would post it here in case it would help any of you.... and likewise, in case someone else found something that would be fun to have, I may wanna know! So these are links to items I'm actually glad I got (disclaimer: I'm not on Aliexpress payroll or anything): Car seat gap fillers (the missus said she does not know where to rest her phone) Storage bag for the trunk This is good to keep the road triangle, the first-aid kit, and all of those things tidy in one place Lexus umbrella for the trunk it rarely rains in Britain but just in case Anti-kick pads for the back of the front seats they wipe clean easily Neck pillows (mostly good if you need to take a quick nap, or for your co-pilot to do so –we groundhogs do a lot of that)

  3. Hi all, Just joined, so thanks for having me. Picking up my new NX 350H Premium 4WD on Friday and hoping that the legendary Lexus reliability and good dealer network works for me. I'm sure I'll have questions as a newbie to Lexus and hopefully I'll have some contributions to make as well. First question; Is there a dedicated section for each model or is it just a melting pot for all models and specs ?z

  4. Welcome. I concure with the suggestion of CARMATS4U.COM Excellent quality and value If you haven't already done so, download the owner manual and the navigation manual from here: https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/about-my-lexus/manuals?utm_source=LexusOwnersClubUK&utm_medium=ForumLinks The paper one that comes with the car is only a 'quick start'......and the pdf version is much easier to search

  5. Welcome Paul, Or you could try to ask nicely the dealership if they could provide them complementary as a gesture of good will in exchange of you being a faithful customer, best of luck!

  7. Best option would be connect a maintenance charger (like a CTEK) that would keep the battery optimally charged and all the alarm and entry systems operational. Letting the battery go flat will degrade it's function over time. Disconnecting the battery will save the battery but maybe put you at odds with your insurer, as the security systems will be off (deliberately off, not failed because of a flat battery)

  8. Well said My thoughts exactly. And I'm not anti new electric cars. If someone wants one then get one but don't try and say you're doing it to save the planet. And not sure exactly what a Peugeot E-3008 is but it should last until the end of the 3 year warranty. Maybe.

  11. Hey, it's going alright, about £1.200 lighter but got plenty done. Car drives fine, a few knocks here and there but can't say it isn't reliable, I've put about ~700 miles since I got it. - Refurbed and repainted the wheels - New water pump and radiator - Fixed the VVTi sensor (replaced the plug) - Replaced Tein damper - Bought a set of valved mufflers (still need to get the stainless split pipe and weld the mufflers on) - Replaced shifter light bulb to LED - Changed all dome lights to LED - Smoked dynamic side turn signals - Added the missing fog light connector - Added RGB LEDs to the fog lights (of course only have them set to white/yellow) - Lexus logo door puddle lights (left passenger door has the wiring missing, need to get the panel off to have a look) - Got some interior ambient lights, didn't get the chance or time to install them What's currently left from what I have planned is: - Go to a company that can identify the colour on the car - Replace from bumper with 4IS style bumper - Replace rear diffuser with LED diffuser and install it properly + install the rear bumper properly + replace left side bracket - After wheel refurb car pulls to the left and I have to fight it on the motorway to stay straight, try and get an alignment and get all the bushings checked - Replace taillights with dynamic ones, VLANDS have their turn signals on the sides and people seem to not notice them (been told by a few) - Mount mufflers + stailness back split pipe - Get an android head unit (might need the facelift vents to have it all fit properly) - Get a set of 70mai dashcams - Install a starter killswitch - Find out why and how to fix the dashboard showing slightly higher readings on speed, revs and temp - Install ambient lighting, underglow, starlight headliner (change interior headliner and pillars to alcantara suede) - Wrap the trims - Fix cracked dashboard - Fix rear seat tear - Rear calipers guide pins keep coming out so need to get a full kit to replace on both sides So yeah, fixed a lot to make it usable but still need a lot to make it pretty

  12. This LBX is the most unpleasant car l have ever owned. Some might like the electronic intrusions - l hate them. Bleeps, bongs, stupid messages on screen, grabbing at the steering wheel - horrible. Why do l have to have a phone connected to use my car - apart from Lexus using hundreds of tracking cookies. Lexus dont care - why would they - they have my money. These are not safety aids, they are poorly designed intrusions that create danger by distraction from driving. Cant wait to get rid of the wretched thing. Shame because without all the crud it would have been a good car.

  13. LS owners often lose their rear fridge between back seats due to the pipes corroding through and losing refrigerant. I replaced the corroded pipes with new copper and then jointed them to old pipes with purpose made compression joints. I found a maidstone ,Kent company ‘Smart splice’ who make repair fittings for AC pipes .Primalec.co.uk they are compression fittings that are great for refrigeration or auto transmission pipework

  16. Welcome Paul…and I’m sure you’ll find the LOC very informative - and even entertaining! While you’re on the Lexus site downloading the Manual(s) you might consider looking at the ‘My Lexus’ section. It’s where the Dealer can log all the activity relating to your car. I’ve found it quite useful in the past.

  19. Just booked my train ticket to potentially buy the car. I’ll be stuck if it’s a wrong un as I’ve bought a single ticket. I think it will be ok, however I wonder if some dealers are desperate are to shift them? Today I’ve bought my wife a really nice 18 plate Honda Jazz and I’m looking forward to having two NA cars in the family. Nick

  21. Just to be clear: I used Lexus dealers, some in the South and some in the North.

  22. I have used a couple of dealers for tyres (not Lexus). Just ask them for a price for your chosen tyre. Some will do a price match too which is good.

  23. My experience: I told the dealer the tyres I wanted and asked for a price which I compared with the best online price I could get (have followed this procedure for years) and they couldn't get close to the online price. In one instance I was told that the dealer couldn't get it for the online price! Then purchased the tyres I wanted at the best price I could get, had the tyres delivered to me, made an appointment and had the tyres fitted and balanced at the dealer, at cost. It does mean that I pay for the fitting/balancing twice (as online tyres price includes fitting) but I know the tyres are good and good price and they are fitted by the dealer so they know how to deal with the TPMS sensors. Have done this several times and have not been refused but then the dealer/s look after my car anyway.

  24. When I enquired about having CC2 fitted my dealer spent ages hunting around for stock, there was none in the UK. They suggested various others and were open to any I requested but I went with ATS in the end. I'm not 100% sure every dealer fits tyres themselves or simply farms it out. Either way, in my mind, the dealer takes full responsibility for the work, so even if they don't fit themselves in their own workshop, any issues would be resolved through them. My dealer also price matched, this was a couple of years back ...

  25. Hi David, Sorry late on parade. I was waiting until I had my NX450H+ out in a suitable area before I took some photos. I have attached 2 images showing the centre console display when reversing. Hopefully it shows what the lines are. Dave

  30. No, go full Sunday roast with Henz Beans with Pigs In Blanket! I have had a 57 year love affair with Beans on toast. Just a part of my Michelin food lineup. I also do Bacon Grill on toast. Cheese on toast obviously. Banana on toast rotated with Jam on toast is alway breakfast. Peanut butter, Almond butter and Cashew butter on toast with, or without a Banana. I have a shelf devoted to Jam flavours. If they ever put a record in the Guiness Book on who has had the most flavours of Jam then it's mine! What you can do with toast is amazing. I was going to apply to go on Masterchef, but my wife thought the world might not be ready for my fine dining experiments based upon toast.

  31. They did say the same to me that it’s getting looked at. They did manage to make it sort of work for the most of the time. Make sure if you want to reply or send a WhatsApp you have the Siri voice turned way down low so you can just hear her but she does not hear herself via the Lexus in car microphone and then it seems to work. A bit rubbish but at least works. I do think apple is the big issue here.

  34. Agree with everything Goodplan53 has said. The Takumi spec has some features that we didn't want either and the PP+ with Pano roof is the optimum value point.

  35. It turns out the app / website, automated emails and occasional dealership email has kept me pretty much up to date through all of the delivery stages. And the estimate I was quoted was pretty accurate. Was initially quoted 21 November and I'm now picking up the car this Thursday (14th), so a week early.

  36. From memory it shows a yellow bar before the red bar. The camera also clearly shows almost a birds eye view of the front & rear bumpers so I find being able to park close up to a wall to within 3-4 inches quite easy. Just wait until the Red bar shows & then edge more slowly whilst looking at the camera image

  40. Well it’s finally happened after debating about it for a couple of years, I traded in my F at dealership numerous reasons but main ones are, lack of use since retiring and unusable during wintertime due to obviously snow n ice on a steepish driveway, anyways…it was a hard decision as I’ve loved this car from the day I bought it over 5 1/2yrs ago, and spent a fair few pounds on modifications but was worth every penny including all the fuel I burnt up over my ownership and the many miles of roads I terrorised 🤣 I got the best out of it,and although it always looked like a driveway princess, it was driven hard and fast over 92,000 miles and never skipped a heart beat…. I certainly got my money back off it with the grin and wow factor.. will I miss it…… GOD YES I spent the last week putting the car back to as near standard as possible c/f bonnet and c/f active spoiler and c/f wing inserts air intake, wheels ,side front rear body kit and numerous other parts swapped back to OEM, only non standard things left on car are.. red F start stop button and the biggy ARMYTRIX valvetronic weaponised exhaust system, made the F way more fun ohh yeah and louder 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Even took off window tints chrome delete wrap and tints of L badges and rear lights doing this helped me give the car up as it no longer looks like the car I grew to love cherish and owned, I could talk about this car all day 😂 that’s how much I loved it and I ALWAYS looked back at it when I parked it up and smiled to myself and said quietly “you lucky smug show off” end of era and a beautiful relationship and has travelled the whole of uk from north south east and west… last pic is how it ended up after de-grahaming it 😉😂 oh yeah I traded it in for a RX450h fsport with takumi package with 6k on clock, not as flashy as the RCF but neither am I 😂🫣

  41. I bought a tractor to help clear driveway, but with the driveway being chuckie stones (gravel) I made a mess clearing snow, …. So we’ve now sold the RCF,NX and replaced it with the RX450h and I’ve a fully restored a LR defender, so I ain’t getting stuck again anytime soon (ps I’m a Ex REME army mechanic so L.R will always be running 😂😂 and not the usually broken down ones you see) plus it’s a older one with no frills so no tons of electric gadgets in n around engine to go wrong

  44. First facelift in a while just got listed on Autotrader: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202410315795922 No photos yet, but might be one to keep an eye on. I think it's a bit expensive at the moment, but with a bit off the price could be a nice car. For reference, as you've mentioned importing, I'm in the process with TorqueGT myself. It's a 2012, Mercury Grey, Option Wheels on just over 50k Miles - gonna be about £19,500 or so. So you can definitely get a cleaner, higher spec, lower mileage car for less money if you're willing to import; just be mindful of the resale value a few years down the line of course.

  46. Very interesting analysis. I could do with the dosh but couldn't bear to part with mine, unless the price went to £50K and even then I would have to think very hard about it. They really are special cars and I have had a few in my 57 years driving. The burden of £735 tax ( probably more tomorrow ) and the same cost of insurance and keeping the car maintained is a bit of a downer but these cars are far superior to Mustangs Jags BMW et al V8s. Just my biased opinion. Long may they reign.
