  1. You need all that time to read the manual! It runs to hundreds of pages. 😉

  3. The Conclusion: 1. Tracker was fitted by Lexus (Bristol). they seem to pre-register your details with Tracker, although this does not mean you can access the account/track online. They provide a small credit card with a few references numbers. 2. The day after installation I received an email from Tracker with a “Security Token” number on. Keep this email!! 3. I phoned Tracker, they already had my details but the account wasn’t activated. I installed the Tracker Touch app. They provided me the serial number (needed to open the app) over the phone and then you need enter the Security token from the email in step 2 4. You can complete the registration in the app with all the usual details (name, address etc). Note: the email address Lexus provided needs to match the email address you use here. 5. The app is then usable, you can see the position of the car, see the battery status, set the geofence status. Lexus have provided a 3year subscription to OBD. So that’s it! All working Thanks all for all the replies.

  4. Have you had one fitted - it is not a disaster. The dealer should register once they complete the fitting and provide them (Tracker) with your contact details, who will then email you with the necessary details - fitting of the Tracker and GEO and the email attaching the documents all happened on the same day in my case. Yes, I have been frustrated in recent times with the level of customer care and the product compared with my earlier 20 plus years of Lexus ownership, but I will give them credit where its due especially as I have a Gen 2 NX not subject to the CANBUS attacks and both Lexus HO and the local Lexus dealer contacted me offering these free of charge.

  5. Hi, following on from another thread, I thought I'd post details on here on how to add puddle lights / courtesy lights to the front doors of NX350h and NX450h models. Thanks to @Tickedon for sharing details. Mine is a Premium Plus model and they were missing but it looks to be the case for higher models too like Takumi's. Your front doors will have blanks as per pics. You can prise these out to reveal wiring behind. Order 2 from here, about £46 delivered. They are for UX model but they fit: https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-ux-phase-1-front-door-courtesy-light-assembly/ Connect up the wiring and pop back in. Photos should do all the talking. Hope this helps.

  6. I’m fast approaching 40 and have indeed started pondering on life and my ‘lot’ so far. I’ve got a wife and 2 girls along with a job I enjoy. Don’t have too many regrets. I do however have lots I still want to do with my life and have recently started to think about the future and what it may look like. Pensions seem to be important though I’ve done well so far and plan to continue in that vein. Additionally, I’d like to move into the sticks proper, have a wood and stream so I can play at being off grid later in life and connect with nature. Not too sure a lambo appeals, though a nice LS or S-Class does get me going. As for an affair, I struggle to keep one woman happy, never mind two!!

  7. Having owned an RCF and ISF, im not convinced that the RCF or GSF are in any way lesser cars…. If anything, the RCF and GSF are improved evolutions of the original ISF. History will look kindly on them all….

  8. They will probably tell you when they are failing, so I would just leave them alone and wait for the beeps.

  9. All very subjective. In my opinion both the IS F and GS F are good looking cars, but if you are going to state that the GS F looks like a standard GS, then it does so as much as the IS F looks like a standard IS. As a family car the GS F made more sense for me compared to the IS F, as it had more space for the kids and everything that accompanies them. I came from an IS250 and that was far too small. I think the IS interior has aged well but in my opinion the GS F has a more modern interior, nicer seats, nicer materials and a better fit and finish. When this thread started, GSFs were selling are lot quicker than IS Fs and RC Fs. Things look to have slowed down now but GS Fs at dealers still seem to sell in good time. Each to their own and whilst not everyone will agree on which one is best, all three are fantastic cars and a dying breed.

  10. From memory it shows a yellow bar before the red bar. The camera also clearly shows almost a birds eye view of the front & rear bumpers so I find being able to park close up to a wall to within 3-4 inches quite easy. Just wait until the Red bar shows & then edge more slowly whilst looking at the camera image

  11. No sure what you want here - do you want us just to provide you with justification to ditch IS250 and spend extra money on IS350? Are you looking for simple encouragement to upgrade... Sure go ahead, upgrade - IS350 is just much better car, with one of the best engines ever made and dream to drive, there are loads of reason to have IS350 if you budget allows it, but carbon build-up is just not one of those reasons. As other have said - in UK we JUS DON'T have this issue. I don't know what exactly, but carbon build-up is simply not something UK or EU cars suffers from. I don't know if that is the driving we do, much lower mileage on average, better quality oils or what it is... but you will never hear that carbon build-up is what ended IS250 anywhere in Europe. Generally, this is compound issue of poor maintenance and extended service intervals. If you service your car say every 6 months/6000miles (I would recommend that on any car), then you unlikely to have issues with carbon build-up. Catch can is also good solution, but you basically need to do it on the new car right away, or do carbon cleaning (like walnut blasting) and then install catch-can. In short - catch can will not remove the carbon that is already there (also it is not really carbon, building... it is more like a sludge of oil vapor, carbon and dirt), it only slows down the build-up. All in all, this is sort of minor issue in grand schemes of things in IS250 ownership.

  12. Also having this mental issue with looping messages when you try reply and then same as others sometimes saying your in a car so can’t do that. Brand new and had a few issues with this now. It’s in tomorrow for the boot issue so will ask them to see if any updates for the firmware. Can’t have any issues anytime Apple updates something.

  13. It wouldn't usually need a fix if I had to guess the most probable cause is rodent damage. A camshaft sensor is not really a service item so can't see it being disturbed at 30k. If you replace the sensor & light stays on chances are the wiring has come apart, doesn't look particularly difficult to resolve either with a new plug or resolder

  19. If the LBX has buttons on the door like other Lexus models, then they are independent of the key and are programmed by setting your position, pressing and holding the relevant button to memorise the settings (until it beeps). Do that for each driver, then just press the button (briefly) when you get inside the car. I only use one key for myself and my partner as I like to have all the driving information under one profile. Not sure if two keys can contain all information in one place, but I have been happy with what I have set up.

  20. Hi Nice to hear how much you like the diesel lexus, i test drove one like 13 years ago but wanted to try a auto car and ended up with a 250 which i've been very happy with ever since. Try and hold out for a sat nav / rear cam one. On the 250 it will need to have had a water pump also, doubt there are many people who still have the factory one running okay. Its a totally refined and luxury car. i'm holding on to mine as long as i can as i know the next car will be some sort of skoda or similar family wagon.

  21. Just another "Brexit Bonus". 🙄 In 2022 I sent my sister (who lives in Brussels) a small package with a birthday present in it, total value maybe £45. She ended up having to pay nearly £30 to get the package from the shipping company and it took so long that it missed her birthday by nearly 2 months. Now I simply don't bother sending to or buying from the EU any more, and a great many small businesses feel the same. I tried to get some parts shipped from a specialist supplier in the USA and he told me that for small value shipments he has to register with HMRC and declare on their website for each shipment. He apologised but said he really couldn't be bothered to spend the time and effort to go through that hassle just so that a foreign government can collect it's taxes. When I suggested that he could charge more for UK shipments, he said he didn't care about the money. He just did not want to go through the hassle for maybe 10 shipments per year. This is typical of what I hear from other small businesses outside the UK (not just the EU) who ship to the UK. We are not worth the hassle of doing business with until there is a certain level of income to make it worth their while.

  22. The rain sensor function on my newly acquired LS430 in not working as it should - when auto wipers is selected the wipers start wiping intermittantly. I have removed the sensor and cleaned the gel, sensor and windscreen. This has not cured the problem Any ideas what could be the issue? Do the actual sensors develop issues and stop working? Next step would be to buy another sensor and gel pad and see if that cures the problem.
    1 point
  23. If the windscreen has been replaced with a non-OEM screen then the rain sensor often does not work, so the system defaults to being an intermittent wipe with adjustable speed via the twist knob on the stalk. What there is in the OEM screen to make it work I have no idea, but lots of comments on the US forums about this problem.

  25. Yes, the OBD device does that. The 'tracker' is battery operated and in a low power state to just received a turn on signal that Tracker will emit if you report it stolen - only the permanently powered more expensive tracker devices report real-time location.

  26. That is very useful information. I am actually going to build it myself so I'll add bits to stop the local cats wanting to use the rafters as a pit stop.

  27. Presumably the OBD geofence device is what records the journeys in the tracker app

  28. Not sure what the video is trying to prove. The Yaris and LBX are full hybrids and don't need the battery to start the engine, therefore CCA rating is irrelevant. The Lexus uses a Japanese battery and the Toyota a European one because TMC locally source components. All three tested as you would expect for a battery in good condition. The issue with the batteries TMC are using in Toyota/Lexus hybrids is they are sized to reduce cost and weight to the minimum and the designers expect the vehicle to be in regular use. If you don't and you get to the point where the battery drain when the vehicle is switched off as more than is put back in when the vehicle is in use you will suffer a flat battery. As the batteries as so small, that may not take long. I also don't believe the designers have fully taken into account the extra drain the vehicles now experience for having always on internet connectivity and smart entry compared to a few years ago, so the problem has become worse over the years.

  29. Yep, instructions got ‘lost in translation’. Not complaining at all in the context of ‘the whole job’. I provided the new tyres and it included a wheel alignment for a very very good price of £85. Granted, the alignment was just the front adjustment not the full monty cos I had removed the track rod ends a while ago to fit steering rack boots. It pays off to have a good relationship with your local Lexus dealer. Yes, the calipers had a nice silver ring on them. Some of it from this time and some from last time. Even with the new 2.8mm weights it’s a tight squeeze but they did the job.

  30. Sometimes simple instructions prove to be too much I bet the calipers now have a nice silver ring worn onto them! My new 430 nearside tyre was worn on the outer edge and steering off centre - got it sorted this week with new tyres - now drives perfectly

  31. An S5 tracker with no tag = no start would have been a much better solution as it would stop the vehicle being driven away in the first place. Seems Lexus / Toyota have gone with the cheapest & easiest to install " solution " that still doesn't solve the real underlying issue, being able to enter then drive the vehicle away easily.

  32. I’m not worrying about it at all😉 I’m more than happy with the way I’ve done oil changes and checking the level for ‘god knows how long’, this topic just made me curious on ‘the correct way to do this according to the manual’ because it was brought up in this topic.

  33. Can't comment on 2 - don't know the cost difference in your country (and we never had the 350 in the UK). The carbon issue seems to be higher in the US, it is rare to see this issue in the UK that got to a stage where it impacted the running of the engine. Given the oil change interval in the US is less than the UK I can only assume it is related to people using poor quality oil in the US or there are emission differences with the engine. Do regular oil changes with fully synthetic oil and you shouldn't have too much of an issue. Certainly fit a catch can if you wish, it can only help. If you needed to have the engine cleaned, that would still probably be cheaper than selling the 250, buying a 350 and paying for more fuel the 350 would consume over your ownership.

  35. Had my 1st service yesterday and the camera did not need changing. My car arrived in Bristol about 12th October 2023 so I suspect it was built mid 2023. Also mine does not need a canbus protection plate or it’s already fitted, not sure, but I do not need a retro fit.

  42. I understand but sadly I feel that the companies have been forced to produce electric vehicles way before their development has reached a suitable level. I think that we can all agree that a 10 minute interlude at an expensive motorway fuel stop is sometimes necessary on a long journey. What I can't accept is an extra 2 hours (in some cases) during a 500 mile trip, just for charging. Then when one gets to where one is travelling to it has to be charged again. All this dependant on chargers being available of course. I accept that we will have to move away from petrol eventually - but let's have it at a fair pace that we can all deal with. Rushing to net zero will only cause misery for we Brits and bankrupt UK-PLC. Meanwhile the Chinese will keep producing cars, that are more than adequate by-the-way, using electricity made from burning coal with unfiltered chimneys pumping-out more CO2 in a month than the UK produces in a year! Where is the sense?

  44. Just shows the decline in Lexus Service. When my one year old LS430 had a recall in the early 2000’s they dropped off a car and collected mine from home. When they returned my car it came with flowers for my wife and a box of chocolates. Thank you Lexus Sheffield.

  45. Never heard of Radar Runflats but if your ears bleed after driving it will be the Bridgestones!
    1 point
  46. It's legal to have different makes of tyre on the same axle, you can even mix runflats and non runflats if you want, although not advisable. The only legal requirement is that they are both radials. As long as they are the correct size and speed rating you should be ok, although I wouldn't want them on my car, I'm very fussy about tyres and like a matched set of premium ones. I use Black Circles for tyres so I can choose exactly the ones I want.

  47. I'm not aware of the vehicle recording when the alarm is triggered. Lock the vehicle with a window open and put your hand in after a minute if you want to be sure the interior sensors are working (assuming you have interior sensors as a specification in your country).

  48. The Lexus Link+ App is basically a waste of time for me, nothing really works, it hardly ever connects to the car, if I try and open the car it says I cant because it was locked with a key! The brochure said I can start the heated seats and steering wheel but there is no option on my app, only to set a temp, which most of the time doesn't work as it says it cant connect to the car. So seems pointless. It also said I could unlock the car with my phone but there is not even an option in my app. I sent a message via the app feedback but haven't had a reply, and like I said is going to the dealer on 30th so hopefully they can resolve it? It's definitely putting me off Lexus and ruining what was supposed to be an exciting purchase. I have not had these problems with other "premium" cars.

  50. I have owned two ISF's over 9 years, so will of course big that up compared to the other two. For me the ISF is that classic skunk works car seen from the 60s, 70s and 80s where a big standard salon is re-engineered to be a muscle/performance car mid-production. It's those production and engineering compromises that really appeal to me about the car and make it a classic, whereas the RCF and GSF were designed the way they were from the ground-up as a new model. It may be spitting hairs, but they are ones I would split. Also, I think the ISF is more of a Q car, which again strongly appeals to me....
