Hello all, Firstly thanks to anyone that participates in this forum. I am a long time lurker and this forum has answered so many questions I've had during my ownership! As the title suggests I want to discuss the current pricing of the ISF. Whilst always monitoring the market I have been monitoring the pricing since July very closely with a mind to sell my (USB MY10) 73k mile example in the new year. To help other owners I have built a spreadsheet which I will continue to add to where possible of the current listings and any previous listings I have record of. This sheet tracks the initial list price and the current price at todays date. if there were any reductions. As for past listings the price is the initial list price and last known price before taken down or sold. I will share the link to the spreadsheet here - Click Hereye I will also attach a screenshot for general ease. With all that information, the current used car market being down and RCF prices dropping into the very low twenties, where does that leave us? Based on the information I can see we are left in a position of £14-18k for 08-10? and £18-24k for 11+? depending on mileage and condition of course. With used car values on the decline since the huge bump over the last year or two I can't say I'm too surprised. Especially including the Yen to the Sterling rate recently I'm not surprised more potential buyers are looking that way. But still our Lexus' still depreciate less than all that new tat on the markets today! £700 p/a tax seem to put a few potential buyers off who I've spoken to especially, without getting political, the new labour government in and their ever-changing stance on road tax, I don't see them being too friendly to 5.0 V8s! With all that being said I'm thinking around £17.5k for my USB MY10 73k mile in the new year. FLSH etc. I will share more details closer to them time when I make the listing. Also considering how long it seems to take to sell these cars, typically way over 6 months I'm not sure I'll be overly ambitious with my pricing. Thanks for reading, I hope other owners find this useful as I have when keeping an eye on my car's value.3 points

I think the models are different. The Takumi is the only model to have ‘performance dampers’ - I would definitely suggest a long test drive. All EV’s are much heavier than petrol equivalents and the performance dampers are meant to minimise ‘dive’ under breaking. But on the other hand the 20” wheels will bring a harsher ride. As you’re going for a Premium Plus make sure the dealer doesn’t give you a Takumi demo. I was initially surprised how harsh the ride was and then read on here that Lexus vastly over inflate the tyres at the factory for the long sea crossing. I checked mine and they were well up - reduced them to just below recommended and a different car. I didn’t like the Dunlop summer tyres so had Cross Climate 2 put on, much quieter in my opinion.3 points

Yes 38k should easily be possible. My wife's NX had disks and pads changed at about 60k I think and my RX has original ones at about 44k so far. Paul2 points

Good point @saqib_v8 well made. I think most people will look to import, if you are expecting to own the car over 2 years you'll save a good chunk on Tax alone. Additionally JDM cars are said to be generally cleaner underneath and very meticulously maintained! With that being said a UK car with FLSH (like mine) will be appealing generally speaking. Even with the ~ £700 tax!2 points

18" wheels are now available as an option on all trim levels, I think this provides a smoother ride and better range, but it can adversely affect other factors including cornering / stability and stopping distance so it depends what your preference is (plus how good the suspension is in the vehicle). For example: https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/features/are-bigger-wheels-really-ruining-ride-quality and https://www.jdpower.com/cars/shopping-guides/what-difference-does-the-wheel-size-make When on a test drive last week of an RZ 450e Premium Plus (4WD), we found the ride to be good, better than my 2016 NX 300h (18" wheels) 4WD and almost as smooth as our 2021 UX 300e (17" wheels) Front wheel drive. Handling most manhole covers, speed bumps and potholes well. My SO and I took it in turns to sit in the back to look after our baby and both had the same opinion of the ride quality.2 points

Hello, the idea I have for the repair has several phases for me. 1-read fault codes 2-change transmission oil, because the one you have is not ATF due to color and smell, ATF is cherry red, this one is gold, I think the previous owner did Mercedes transmission oil 3-if it doesn't work, measure ohms and check solenoids, 4-If it doesn't work, then I will lower the gearbox and open it, inspect the clutches and rubber seals, which is where I think the fault is, it loses pressure due to the rubber packing and does not compress the clutches well, then they start to slip, burn out and the gearbox no longer moves, in the rear yes because the reverse clutch packs go in other packs, and if there is reverse gear the converter works and the oil pump too. but I need to execute the correct steps what do you think?2 points

Interesting as I'm also looking to part ways with mine in the next 6 to 12 months. I do feel that the government may make that very difficult with a potential tax hike (one of the reasons I think it's time to call it a day). Thanks for the spreadsheet. I feel pricing an ISF is a completely random affair. I have a 60k 2010 USB, which will make the sale a lot easier compared to some, but I feel for ease I'll be headed to a dealer to see what they'll price it up as, when the time comes.2 points

I've had the UX as a courtesy car and was very impressed with how it dealt with bad roads, far better than the RC I had at the time. I have had the RZ on a test drive, over the same roads and it wasn't as composed but have to say it was slightly better than my current RX. Trouble is there are so many influences vying for attention it's difficult to get a genuine impression until one has lived with a car for some time..2 points

I bought a one year old RZ Premium Plus a couple of weeks ago and am delighted with everything including the ride. However, my 2 back seat passengers thought the ride a bit “Jiggly” on one occasion, I haven’t tried as a passenger myself so don’t know but is definitely all good in the front. I believe Lexus are offering a 24 hour test drive at the moment so I would take up this offer for final confirmation. I have owned a GS, RX and ES before this along with an iPace, several Mercs, BMW etc and the RZ beats them all in my book. Good luck. Bob2 points

Top job compiling this comprehensive list. The white car in Canterbury advertised with Elmstone Classics is sold as of yesterday. Just like Luke, I'm also looking for a car and was going to go down the import route in early 2025. But would definitely be interested in a USB UK car if you gents @MarcusHarding and @RichGS11 will be parting with your beauties. Please keep me in mind and share details of your respective cars when it's time. Many thanks1 point

Apologies for perhaps being impertinent but Lbx owners would do well to log on to the Toyota owners forum Yaris section where owners have been going through exactly the same flat 12 volt battery issues for years. There is a pinned thread where you will find a variety of solutions and you just pick whichever you will find the most convenient.1 point

ACP - Apple Car Play I would say, although not sure why it would surprise many on the motorway? 🤔1 point

Hello Colin and welcome to the LOC. You say this was a recent purchase, was it from a dealer or private seller? If the former contact the dealer and ask them to take a look at it under your Consumer Rights.1 point

Ok, so I discussed this situation with one of the mechanics at Lexus Bolton. Good news maybe on the diagnostics side but bad news on the symptoms of the problem. First, they still have the diagnostics equipment to connect to a 95 Lexus LS400 and read the engine/transmission codes so I would guess a Lexus dealership in Spain would maybe have the same. I explained the symptoms, gearbox work/rebuild and the golden colour ATF (probably Mercedes ATF) Solenoid issues are possible but not likely because there is no forward drive at all. Opinion is the clutch pack/plates are the problem (maybe other parts as well, who knows) and using the wrong ATF has ‘destroyed’ the gearbox/clutch pack/plates. Transmission rebuild or replacement needed - this is the opinion of the Lexus mechanic. Forward gears are driven through the clutches, reverse is driven by a gear assembly which fits with the symptoms of the clutch pack/plates being at fault.1 point

I've never viewed a UK ISF as a hinderance because of the higher VED, just a nice bonus having a JDM and paying slightly less. I'm assuming Birmingham isn't a compliment!1 point

This is the first time that I have had run flat tyres. (I would rather have a spare wheel!) I believe a lot of BMW owners change to "normal tyres" because of cost and ride quality.1 point

I'll be interested in your thoughts about the CVT auto box, I have hated it since test driving the LS600h way back when. I hated the constant but very quiet drone of the transmission and hated even more the fact that when you put your foot down the drown changed pitch but nothing much happened speed wise. When my RCF goes in for servicing Snows always give me a new SUV as a loaner and everyone has that bloody awful CVT autobox after about 10 minutes of driving it I hate it and always drive it home and park it up never bothering to drive it anywhere. There are so many better autoboxs out there, rant over but they are crap.1 point

Glad I could be helpful @LukeG - I'll message you some details regarding my car but I am only looking to let it go in the new year. If that works for you then I'm sure we can have that conversation.1 point

wow, thanks for this info. I thought I had been paying close attention to the market, evidently not as close as you! As a potential buyer this is also very useful, im viewing a car soon and this definitely helps me make sure im not paying over the odds. If that sale doesn't come to fruition @MarcusHarding your car seems right up my street so I would be interested in hearing more about it when you're looking to sell in the new year. Also @RichGS11 I could be interested in yours depending on price of course and if I still haven't found the one by the time you're selling! Been following you on instagram for a while haha! Yeah the road tax situation definitely makes the prospect of buying a 5.0 v8 daunting but I guess if not now then when! Thanks again Marcus, super super helpful1 point

The issue you have is the duplicity of ownership you know how wonderful these cars are and you have now got two .Trying to convince someone who is not converted is likened to being a missionary in darkest Africa in the 18th century, the would be buyers are wary and trying to get gifts from you and threaten you with spears if you do not comply they do not trust you because they are not yet converts so you have to take a missionary position which can be a very unpleasant experience .I suggest you put it up on ebay with a reserve that way you will not only save yourself a unpleasent experience but find a bottom end price to expect.1 point

2-change transmission oil, because the one you have is not ATF due to color and smell, ATF is cherry red, this one is gold, I think the previous owner did Mercedes transmission oil I think you have figured out why the ATF is not cherry red as it should be for Toyota/Lexus, I watch the YouTube channel below, SPR Autos - Mercedes Specialist, when they drain the Transmission the fluid it is a golden colour so I think you are correct. I think Mercedes use mostly Gold coloured ATF but also use Red ATF, depending the model/transmission/year.1 point

I don’t have blue fake leather - it is the eco friendly ultrasuade! Was initially underwhelmed by it compared to the real leather in my Range Rover, but after 18 months of supporting a 18 stone 6’ 2” lump it looks brand new so may be more durable than real or fake leather. Fake leather reminds me of the Mercedes case where about 3 years ago someone took them to court, and won, over miss-selling his E Class as having leather seats. Mercedes had to admit that the sides and some other bits were not leather but they said it was for durability. They changed all their marketing material.1 point

Yes - mine is a Premier. I don't think it has heated/ventilated rear seats - as I remember there were only the two electrical connectors I mentioned. If yours does have seat heating / ventilation, there will just be more or more complex electrical connectors. But really just the same procedure as above.1 point

I went with the Carplay2Air for both my 300h (right number this time!) and my wife’s Ford. It seems very solid and we’ve had them around 4 years now. At the time I got them they were the best on the market, but others may have caught up now1 point

Once the car is turned on, it will continue to operate even if the key is then removed from the vehicle. There are pros and cons to this operation but this is how it was designed to work. If you do get another key, it would be advisable for your Lexus to wipe all the keys programmed and re-add your remaining existing key as well as the new one. That way the lost key wouldn't be able to be used if it were found and traced to your vehicle.1 point

Having made the switch to a new Toyota CH-R after two Lexus NX300h and a 450h, I thought I’d post some of my thoughts here (similar to a post I made on the Toyota forums). I’ve now had my own CH-R Excel for just over two weeks, and a Design courtesy car for a week prior to that while mine was being prepared. I thought it might be interesting to articulate my initial impressions after a few miles, and having downsized from my 2021 Lexus RX 450h. First, the good. I’m very happy with my choice, and the downsize hasn’t shown as many compromises as I feared. I now only complete 2-3k miles each year, so a smaller car was a sensible switch, but even so I did love my RX and did approach the change with some trepidation. I needn’t have. The interior quality is excellent (mainly). The technology works well, and I like the touchscreen vs my previous Lexus ‘trackpad.’ The drive is also very good, being quiet and refined. I’m actually surprised at how quiet the car is, despite a long test drive some months ago. It is largely very impressive (but more on that later). The dealer did try and convince me to drive the 2.0 litre CH-R first but, knowing how limited my mileage was going to be, I decided to try the 1.8 instead. As it seemed perfectly adequate I went with that. It’s no ball of fire, but I value refinement and smoothness more these days and I find it perfectly acceptable for my needs. Equipment levels on the Excel are also good enough for me. I’ve lost ventilated leather seats and a HUD - neither of which bother me. I have also lost an opening glass roof which is a shame. I’d have preferred the option, but it is what it is. A heated steering wheel should also be included imho. I must also comment on the quality of the switchgear - indicator stalks, buttons, steering wheel etc. It really is very good and gives a real impression of being well designed and nice to use. What don’t I like so much? I would have preferred a rear wiper, but don’t find it too problematic. I would also have liked ‘dipping’ mirrors as I’ve said on another thread. Yes, I know I have 360 degree cameras, but to this driver it’s still easier to place the car when reversing with the simple old school dipping mirrors that I’ve had on every car for twenty years plus. I’m sure I’ll get used to it, but even so - simple sometimes just works better! The dashboard reflects in the front windscreen quite a lot, which is a bit off-putting initially. I did say interior quality was impressive - and I think it is - the exception being the rear door cards which are pretty cheap in comparison with the front. Hardly the end of the world, and common to other cars I test drove, but seems to be a bit unnecessary to me. I guess the savings over thousands of cars all add up. Generally the car is very quiet on the move, but the Design spec courtesy car I had was quieter. I can only assume it’s down to the tyres. My car has Bridgestone Turanza, whereas the courtesy car had Falken. I have to admit that Falken have been my brand of choice for years, being a great balance between price and performance, whereas Bridgestone haven’t been so good on previous Honda cars. I’ll be looking to change them to all season tyres after a few months. Last thing. I’d have preferred a rear parcel blind rather than an old fashioned shelf. But that’s a proper ‘first world’ complaint! Overall it’s a solid 8.5/10. I really like the CH-R, and am comfortable that I made a good choice. I do miss the Lexus, but not as much as I thought I would. The biggest compromise isn’t the power, or the space, and certainly not the quality as the two cars are remarkably similar in that regard. The biggest compromise is ride quality, but even then the Toyota isn’t bad in comparison with its peers, just in comparison with the RX.1 point

Just to round this off - I'm pleased with the new Osram Xenarc 220 bulbs having now done a few long night drives. The illumination is certainly better than the OEM originals but that may be due partly because the original were 10 years old! Dipped beam in paticular seems to have a better spread of light - not so much longer as that has the same cut off but generally better lit and particularly to the sides making it easier to follow the verge and miss the potholes...! Personally I like the colour temp as I find it illuminates well but is not tiring on the eyes. Full beam seems a bit longer but TBH the original OEM bulbs weren't too bad on full beam, it was the dipped beam that always seemed a bit lacking in spread and illumination. Anyway - anyone thinking of new HID bulbs should see an improvement with these over OEM original HIDs.1 point

A test drive will be more useful than anecdotes. The CVT gearbox makes the engine sound noisy under hard acceleration but the power is there. You really need to test drive one to see how you find it. The ride is firm compared to my prwevious RX. Not unduly harsh but it depends what you are comparing it with. Let us know how you get on after a test drive.1 point
