  1. Well it’s finally happened after debating about it for a couple of years, I traded in my F at dealership numerous reasons but main ones are, lack of use since retiring and unusable during wintertime due to obviously snow n ice on a steepish driveway, anyways…it was a hard decision as I’ve loved this car from the day I bought it over 5 1/2yrs ago, and spent a fair few pounds on modifications but was worth every penny including all the fuel I burnt up over my ownership and the many miles of roads I terrorised 🤣 I got the best out of it,and although it always looked like a driveway princess, it was driven hard and fast over 92,000 miles and never skipped a heart beat…. I certainly got my money back off it with the grin and wow factor.. will I miss it…… GOD YES I spent the last week putting the car back to as near standard as possible c/f bonnet and c/f active spoiler and c/f wing inserts air intake, wheels ,side front rear body kit and numerous other parts swapped back to OEM, only non standard things left on car are.. red F start stop button and the biggy ARMYTRIX valvetronic weaponised exhaust system, made the F way more fun ohh yeah and louder 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Even took off window tints chrome delete wrap and tints of L badges and rear lights doing this helped me give the car up as it no longer looks like the car I grew to love cherish and owned, I could talk about this car all day 😂 that’s how much I loved it and I ALWAYS looked back at it when I parked it up and smiled to myself and said quietly “you lucky smug show off” end of era and a beautiful relationship and has travelled the whole of uk from north south east and west… last pic is how it ended up after de-grahaming it 😉😂 oh yeah I traded it in for a RX450h fsport with takumi package with 6k on clock, not as flashy as the RCF but neither am I 😂🫣

  2. Today was a Big day. I finally got my Golden Goddess back with a smorgasbord of work now completed. So no more leaks, no brake squeal, no more engine management light and she rides as though driven straight out of the showroom, what a difference! (Work completed: replaced front brake pads, discs & shims, new valve cover gasket, tappet cover gasket, steering pressure hose, 8 front arm bushes, one broken bush fitting bolt, transmission & engine mountings. Wheel balancing & alignment done, brake wear sensors replaced. Oxygen sensors cleaned and engine bay steam cleaned and the rear door lock repaired. Phew!) Then I went with my son to get some plates for the LS400 (also gold) he just purchased yesterday and he stopped at yet another 400 sitting in the corner of the Government lot, then he pressed what I thought was the key to mine and he opened the white 400! I panic when he gets in it, saying "you cant do that son, its not yours, theres a policeman on a motorcycle over there" and he laughs and told me he just bought that one as well! So he's now got two Platinum Series, one white 300K miles, one gold (160k???). He is going to use one for long commutes and the other to rent out for new joiners at his work to use. I was flabbergasted and delighted at the same time. Very happy.

  3. Hello all, Firstly thanks to anyone that participates in this forum. I am a long time lurker and this forum has answered so many questions I've had during my ownership! As the title suggests I want to discuss the current pricing of the ISF. Whilst always monitoring the market I have been monitoring the pricing since July very closely with a mind to sell my (USB MY10) 73k mile example in the new year. To help other owners I have built a spreadsheet which I will continue to add to where possible of the current listings and any previous listings I have record of. This sheet tracks the initial list price and the current price at todays date. if there were any reductions. As for past listings the price is the initial list price and last known price before taken down or sold. I will share the link to the spreadsheet here - Click Hereye I will also attach a screenshot for general ease. With all that information, the current used car market being down and RCF prices dropping into the very low twenties, where does that leave us? Based on the information I can see we are left in a position of £14-18k for 08-10? and £18-24k for 11+? depending on mileage and condition of course. With used car values on the decline since the huge bump over the last year or two I can't say I'm too surprised. Especially including the Yen to the Sterling rate recently I'm not surprised more potential buyers are looking that way. But still our Lexus' still depreciate less than all that new tat on the markets today! £700 p/a tax seem to put a few potential buyers off who I've spoken to especially, without getting political, the new labour government in and their ever-changing stance on road tax, I don't see them being too friendly to 5.0 V8s! With all that being said I'm thinking around £17.5k for my USB MY10 73k mile in the new year. FLSH etc. I will share more details closer to them time when I make the listing. Also considering how long it seems to take to sell these cars, typically way over 6 months I'm not sure I'll be overly ambitious with my pricing. Thanks for reading, I hope other owners find this useful as I have when keeping an eye on my car's value.

  4. Thought I'd post up in here that I've put one of my LS400's up for sale: I've had my blue LS400 for about eight years and absolutely love it... so much so that when I had the opportunity to buy a low mileage one owner one(green one) I jumped at the chance. I always wanted to know what these were like when new and it has been a revelation to drive both back to back. However, the nice (green) one sits in the garage while the older one stays outside in front of the house. As such it barely gets driven, because it's such a faf to get it out, which I didn't mind so much as I was happy for it to sit and appreciate. I toyed with the idea of selling it a couple of times but didn't go ahead with it. Now my personal situation has changed and insuring and taxing two LS400's isn't feasible for me, so it is up for sale in the for sale section linked above. Thought I'd post a pointer here as I wasn't actively looking when I originally bought it and this is our little niche of the Lexus world.

  5. If anyone's interested, I did get the Ctec battery monitor, connected it directly to the 12v battery & placed it in the little box set into the battery cover under the rear seat, it fitted very well. To check the battery voltage, just pop the small cover off & check the led's, this also gives a convenient plug to charge the battery from a Ctek smart charger. However, it seems the 12v battery is hardly ever fully charged & the monitor is usually showing red, so no real help. I have had the LBX for 2 months now, being retired, we don't use the car a lot & had no problem from the 12v battery & I've stopped worrying about it. I have, however bought a small battery booster, just in case.

  9. These EDFC5 motors are tiny !!!! Smaller than I expected, and pretty sure I will be able fit the rear ones under the boot linings without any cutting. They measure 35 x 35 x 35 excluding the little tit that fits down inside the top of the shock. Additional height will be less than 35mm above the threaded end of the shock.

  10. These were these days sold out or discontinued where I looked online ( extensive search). They were rare but available just 1 year back or so. So I bought aftermarket cables intended for the later model LS400 1998 to 2000 and hoped for the best. It was possible to fit these with rather small effort . They looked quite ok also quality wise. There are two simple brackets each that attach the cables to the chassi en route on reinforced sleeves on the cables. (The old brackets were rusty but ok). However the 1998 to 2000 cables are exactly same same except about 1 inch or 2-3 cm shorter Hence the S-curve they need to be routed is a bit different (straighter which is probably good). This means that one needs to make some simple new brackets with a bit different shape to route the cables a bit different. My opinion is that one bracket is enough but LEXUS used two so I did too. Route without force in smooth bends for cable to work well. I made the brackets from stainless steel band material 20 mm wide I had laying around that I bent in a vise after some cardboard pieces tests. Then you drill 8 mm holes for the screw. (The thread was stil ok after 25++ years). No need to do big science of the adjustment. I put it in adjusted same same as the old cable. Worked well.

  13. Tracker fitted yesterday; device registered by dealer. Dealer 'unaware' of Tracker Touch app for smartphone... even though I asked dealer if there was any app available or needed; they said No. LOL Registration details received yesterday from Tracker UK via email. Tracker Touch for Geofence etc installed by myself and working today - but I needed a call to Tracker UK for a secondary serial number to get the app registered and working. Car came back to me with an empty Tracker box on the front seat with a plastic Tracker membership card (fill in your own details) and a note to say go online for a welcome pack (and that's where you'll find information about the Tracker Touch app. If you want it. No real complaints here. I mostly find it's par for the course nowadays for me to know more about things than the dealer does...

  14. Yes funnily enough I was looking myself on ebay just to get a rough idea. They don't seem too expensive but my garage said they'll get it tested for me but the guy who does these is in Toronto for a couple of weeks on holiday. So I'll drop the car in when he's back. It's moving like it's in limp mode so I'll drop it off late one evening. He said they can sometimes be repaired so 🤞

  15. I went with the Carplay2Air for both my 300h (right number this time!) and my wife’s Ford. It seems very solid and we’ve had them around 4 years now. At the time I got them they were the best on the market, but others may have caught up now

  16. There is a lot to consider there. Perhaps the standout point in your favour is the Police etc etc Bill. That of itself is disturbing. I have of course read of some policing incidents that have given me pause to think 'is the world going mad'. Enacting that sort of policing is not something I wish to see. On the otherside of the coin citing the Human Rights Watch on these sorts of issues is akin to asking UFO Inc whether alien life forms are amongst us. Hardly likely to get an objective insight on the issue . Some of the other stuff that almost belongs on a pantomime stage is what I was referring to when trying to clarify my earlier reply. That is, the ability to express appears to have expanded exponentially whilst leaving behind our historic notions of decent human behaviour. That attracts an overkill response which oft is as wrong as the original behaviour itself. I don't like many of the recent trends in people expressing themselves. By the same token I dislike the often inappropriate responses that are applied to innocuous behaviour that should offend no one who is of a sound mind. In summary, I find more and more of today's behaviour to be beyond the pale. By the same token I also find too many people who actively seek out the role of being offended. I don't find it easy to decide which of these pillocks irritate me more, but I am in your camp if you are saying you don't want to these issues being resolved by govt intervention.

  17. Francisco, does the engine start and run? To be able to move the gear selector requires having the engine running. The only way to move the selector with the engine not running is to press the ShiftLock Override which will allow you to put it in Neutral so you can push or tow the car. The 95 is a Mk3 LS400 (95-97) so won't have the OverDrive button on the selector or the O/D Off indicator. That is a TEC (ODB1) port (unique to Toyota) and getting a connector & code reader for those is very difficult. Only a Lexus/Toyota dealer will be able to connect to that port as you need an ODB1 scanner as well as the adapter for that port. ☹️

  20. Very interesting analysis. I could do with the dosh but couldn't bear to part with mine, unless the price went to £50K and even then I would have to think very hard about it. They really are special cars and I have had a few in my 57 years driving. The burden of £735 tax ( probably more tomorrow ) and the same cost of insurance and keeping the car maintained is a bit of a downer but these cars are far superior to Mustangs Jags BMW et al V8s. Just my biased opinion. Long may they reign.

  21. Do you mean the button in the picture, Shift Lock Override? If that's the button you mean, I do use it now and again on the drive to move the car back without starting the engine.

  22. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176484159569 A short review after a year of use, basically without any problems, I looked into them through the top covers and from the bottom, everything looks good, no sign of wear. I have two firends who had these mounts installed and had no problems. Interestingly, each of them was directed by the workshop to refubrish/replace the entire shock absorber.

89-94 LS400

  25. Well you can err towards caution and shoot first if you want to and that might be the case if it’s a joint dealership. The point is, you can cure the problem “mostly” by changing to a higher capacity battery. Keep in mind, we are not on conventional systems with any full hybrid car these days so forget what used to happen. The 12v battery on a conventional vehicle is capable of cranking an engine for several minutes and therefore has acres of capacity to power ancillary circuits. A hybrid battery has had all the cranking capacity omitted and has only the reserve by design. It doesn’t have a starter, it starts the engine with a traction motor. You can go on about how it should be and how Lexus should handle it but it isn’t going to change things. If you go down the official route, they’ll want it in to test and, and…. It makes no odds to me, I have a smart charger and carry a jump pack but that doesn’t suite everybody especially if they’re not mechanically minded. It’s not a Toyota/Lexus thing, it’s a hybrid thing and the shape of things to come.

  28. I cannot say that I follow your argument. I doubt there has been a time when people of any age had more freedom of expression. As to the issue of what they choose to express that is a completely different question. For clarity I refer to the fact they have far more channels for expression than ever before and not to the fact choosing to express these days is fraught with difficulty. As to Govt having the ability to confuse by obfuscation all I can say is when did they ever not do that. Any party of any persuasion. That appears to be one of those undesirable consequences of politics that is unavoidable as long as humans are doing the job.

  29. You have to do this every trip but it only takes a moment. All the other systems are there so you can switch off what you want to.

  30. It isn’t an AGM battery, it’s a conventional lead acid. I can assure you that you can charge the battery from the jump start terminal. I don’t know why they would say otherwise other than a lack of understanding on their part. It’s just an extension wire from the battery. I leave mine on a smart charger while I’m away and I can monitor the charge rate via the smart plug from another country.

  31. To be fair, the Lexus sales people are new to LBX and it’s only that model that is turning out to be vulnerable. The Toyota guys know all about it because the Yaris/Yaris Cross are known for it. The calculations show the battery should be correct but in practice it’s borderline. You can change the battery for a larger capacity one which I’ve done successfully, several times on the Yaris equivalent but it’ll usually be at your own expense. I know that won’t sit well on a new car but by the time you’ve been back and to the dealer, you’ll wish you’d done it in the first place.

  35. No, but you ideally want to mechanically adjust it so your lights are correctly aligned, otherwise you would need to alter the lights themselves. Yes, one per axle. The sensors are there just to level the lights front to back if you put weight into the rear - it doesn't compensate for any uneven load left to right.

  39. It’s not just Toyota/Lexus hybrids, it is many manufacturers of hybrid and electric cars due to them using a small 12v battery as it only has to operate electronics and not grange over an ice. Back in 2015 I had a Renault Zoe and I often got low 12v battery warnings even though I used it every day.

  40. Totally agree David, if you have a look in our LBX forum most of these issues have been raised a couple of times before, so you can rest assured you are not alone 😉 Hoping that future updates will allow the rear seat reminder alarm to be turned off permanently like it can be done in other Lexus models.

  42. Just called in at my local dealer to book the NX450h in for this latest recall. Whilst going through the details on the computer the receptionist asks “would you like us to do a map update for the satnav whilst we have the car? Also the car is eligible for a free tracker to be fitted, would you like us to do this?” I have to say that, unlike some dealership stories I read on here, Lexus Ipswich have been nothing but brilliant throughout the 7 years I have been dealing with them.

  43. Hi thanks for replies. I have bought new toe in/out adjusters arms from hard racing. Very nice bit of kit. Removing arms on NSR was a piece of cake. Took an hour from getting car jacked to replacing wheel. OSR rear was the complete opposite. Had 3 ball joint splitters to chose from. As the ball joints are deep two would not work. Had to go the brutal old fashioned way. Ball joint wedge and lump hammer. Still could not split it as I ran out of gap between forks. So went off to buy a propane burner to heat up ball joint housing to help remove it. It removed ball joint and steel insert for aluminium housing 🙄🫣. Separating ball joint from steel insert was a 💩💩💩 of job. Getting insert back in was just as bad. Managed to destroy old ball joint now in all its separate parts no sign of wear in ball joint after 320k miles. Lexus knew how to build longevity into the LS430. As for toe in/out I have done a rough measurement using a tape measure. Gone from 9 o'clock on NSR to 3 o'clock OSR on front of rim. Reversed for rear of rim. Divide the difference by 2 which gives the amount to alter each side. LS430 has very slight toe out at rear. So have set it as close to parallel as possible. Need to to find a 4 wheel tracking place to set it it perfectly. This could be 100 miles down the road so need it as close as possible without upsetting handling and scrubbing tyres on inside edge.

  47. Thanks EEH, I thought of a 12v cigarette plug in version, as it would be the simplest, but as you say the car has to be on (ready) for it to be powered, so you only get the charging voltage from the traction battery. Nice to have a bit more information, but ideally I want to see the voltage with no charging voltage applied. I thought about rewiring the cigarette lighter socket to a permanent feed, but as it's a new car, I'd rather not mess about with it. I have just found Ctek monitor for less than £9, so I'll give that a try first. Thanks for the help guys.

  48. Hi Dave Congrats and glad you liking your car as I am I 🙂 As you may have seen from my posts, I too even have the solar wiring harness direct to the battery (which my dealer fitted), but for added safety I have a digital version I plug into the 12v cigarette lighter. Granted it's a bit out of sight, and only functional when the car is on, but gives me peace of mind on start up what the charge of my battery is like. I do agree with Colin though his solution is probably a better offering.

  50. Use the ramps - safer than the stands. I changed my exhaust from the middle to the back (including the boxes) when i made it for my last IS with no issue. Obviously would be better on garage ramps but who has these in their drive. Make sure for added safety to chock the front wheels.
