I recently tried Osram Night Breaker returned them & got a refund from Amazon. The Visibility was improved over OEM but for me the yellow light output wasnt for me. I prefer the more modern look white with a hint of blue light output so changed too Osram Cool blue boost. Note this bulb is rated as 'Off road' use only. I have had them in a couple of months now with no ill effects driven past many Police cars & nobody has flashed me unless I have them on full beam which is understandable. Beam pattern is set from factory so no issues with the auto headlight adjustment taking control. Osram night breaker (fitted & removed) Osram cool blue3 points

Point being - it does not matter who took it over, what matters is that organised crime is rampant and police is either ill equipped or not motivated to fight it. It could be any nationality, basically "insert the nationality here _ _ _ _ _ _ _", so even grouping people by nationality is counterproductive. The issue is not Albanians, the issue is British Policing. It is not like completely closing the border and not allowing anyone to leave or enter will solve anything... obviously "Saturday's Telegraph" (as a brain dead far right publication) will try to imply that is exactly what is needed and I would argue deliberately tries to misinform and detract the people from real problems and real solutions. This is typical case of "when you have a hammer everything looks like nails", they are in principle against immigration, so all the problems must be because of immigration - "it can't be that we doing anything wrong, or not doing it enough... no no no it must be Romanians, Muslims, Albanians... it is obviously French that are at fault for our border security, it is EU that is wrong etc."... Housing - immigrants, NHS - immigrants, shaite roads - immigrants... Please tell me any problem discussed in Saturday's Telegraph that isn't somehow caused by immigrants... One does not need to be very smart to deflect all the issues on others, I mean life is so simple when everything is somebody else's fault... isn't it?3 points

My 2015 f-sport has been very reliable, the only costs of running todate has been annual services/MOT, 1 set of wiperblades 2 sets of front tyres and 1 set rear (front and rear will need replacing soon). As it's been serviced at lexus giving me 10yr warranty they've replaced the water pump and rear bushes all under warranty. MPG is 40.6 that's a mix of roads, single driver to fully loaded 4 adults, 4 case's, 4 sets of hand luggage (and I mean fully loaded). Hope this helps2 points

As @steve2006 has commented, It's difficult to offer any guidance without knowing more about each of the 2 cars (price; spec; colour; F Sport or not?; etc.). However, based on the information you have provided and the fact that the 69 plate car needs a lot of bodywork (and assuming that all the other factors are equal, as listed above for example) I would choose the 18 plate, especially if it has had the mid-term mild face-lift that was introduced at around that time. Sure, it will have less time remaining on the warranty lifespan (if serviced annually by Lexus) but I would place more emphasis on the condition of the car than a slightly shorter warranty lifespan. There isn't a lot of difference between the stated mileage of both cars so in this particular case, based on the information you have provided, my priority would be "condition" over "year" (with the caveat that the 18 plate has had the face-lift).2 points

Hi. The blemishes appeared under my watch, although there has been only normally situations, clean environments, no unruly peeps in the car, etc. In other fora for lexus, i have read other UX owners having similar experiences with the washi material. It seems to be particularly fragile to small grit scratching , so my conclusion is that rather than keeping the dash clean with a microfiber cloth , it is wise to use compressed air or a small dust bellows (like in old style photography to clean dust from lenses and negatives) and not wipe the washi parts. I will use a recommended non silicon leather cleaner conditioner to see if I can minimise the visual appearance of the scratches. It is not blame, although I find it strange that a material that is this sensitive was chosen by Lexus. It is a shame because it does look very nice.2 points

As many of you may know - Facebook "market place" is filled with scams. General rules of shopping on internet applies - don't send money to people online without being able to see the goods (at least not amount you are willing to lose, or that isn't protected in some way by some sort of buyer protection), what seems to be too good to be true usually is a scam etc. That said it is still quite annoying as ratio of scams to real cars for sale is probably 5:1, especially if you start looking at something like IS300h, GS300/450h, RX and generally cars less than 10 years old. And you see them listed for £4,000 or something stupid like that it will be scam. I am sure it is annoying for sellers as well, because then people pester you about the price and all other "adverts" despite them being scams. So I decided to investigate a little bit how these scams work, what sort of cover story they have and what they want. I was expecting it will be some sort of "advance fee scam" i.e. where they say "it is 100% safe, you will be able to inspect the car before paying anything for it, we just need holding deposit or delivery fee and you don't need to pay for the car itself yet". And to be honest I was expecting it to be certain nationality (but I was wrong)... So here is how the scam unfolds... To start with I contacted ~10 people who I suspected having listed the car too cheap for it to be real and hence it being a scam. To my surprise only one responded within a week, advert is gone now, but it was quite obvious scam: Nobody is selling 2017 GS300h for £3,100, even with surprisingly patchy history on the car and the mileage it has. Realistically a ~£15,000 car... and surely you can find all sort of dodgy cars on FB for lower prices, but it won't be 5 times cheaper. Would it be £10,000, perhaps there could be other issue (like outstanding finance, undeclared damage etc.) So the price is obvious one, but there are few other signs... Price is actually listed in $, which is obvious give-away. Also new account, Christiano Ronaldo picture and multiple listings for all sorts of cars seemingly all for the same price (I am leaving the name visible as this is obviously made-up name/account and also he already changed the name to calvin so I am not exposing any real person here): So - from 10 scams only one scammer bothered responding, which seems to tell the story that perhaps these scams are not that successful (I hope so). For some reason the scammer didn't want to communicate on facebook (not sure what relevance that has for the scam) so only gave an e-mail address to contact further. There are are obviously further red flags in the e-mail, the price changing, some strange language and unusual time for business communications. But long story short - they actually wanted to go for full amount upfront, which I found little bit optimistic from their side. However, I guess it is part of the scam, they leave red flags in to make sure they dealing with total idiot, so if person has not realised it is scam yet, then perhaps they are indeed gullible enough just to transfer the money. Here I tried to play with them to figure out where the money is going... first link was to Revolut account going to Romanian grocery store in Germany... and I played dumb and said the link does not work... to my surprise they actually fell for it and gave me payment details of person in UK, which is massive mistake (or it suppose to be if UK police cared but they don't) and could help to track the scammer. They also sent me very funny looking sales contract via separate e-mail to add perhaps a little bit of "legitimacy" to the whole thing, but again contract has funny mistakes in it, like american spelling of "tires" and apparently car now comes with both winter and summer set, which is very obvious red flag for most UK cars. I was actually surprised they used existing UK company contact details to cover themselves. Obviously, real company had nothing to do with it (hence I covered their name), but they were using it as a cover (also notified the company that their logo and name is being used for scams, which company doesn't seems to be overly bothered about). In the end there was some last minute threats to "pay now" and "respond now, or we will cancel contract and you will lose the chance to buy this car, and we will sue you because you already signed the contract and now you have obligation to pay". Interestingly as I said, they actually provide me with matching name and bank account in UK, which is 100% traceable information and police could realistically catch these people. I mean sure - it could be stolen or mule account, but there still has to be real person behind the account number. I really wasn't expecting that and I thought they will use untraceable method like some online payment system (skrill, paypal) or some old-school cheque and cash services like WesternUnion, or maybe crypto currency. But to have matching account and name for real person was a bit bold by them, also I found out he is Romanian national previously convicted of petty crimes in UK, street scams, part of the travellers organised gang, that sort of thing, deported and then caught again. Anyhow, because there was realistic trace I also reported to Action Fraud (even thought I knew they are useless and I think really a cover for police so that they can give official looking site for people to get rid of them without need to tell them they won't investigate scams) and immediately got response that there is no actual crime to investigate... so they basically want me to transfer money first before they do anything. I also reported it to facebook, but expectedly... again... they said there is nothing wrong with the advert and it is not against the rules. So there isn't much to it, I can't really see what else can I do to stop the scams, but I thought I share the story, the language used, what they are asking for and maybe it helps somebody to identify the scams and avoid getting scammed.2 points

If you believe in the underlying science of rust converters then on the assumption that your corrosion was not yet structural in nature then in my view it is rational to apply the converter and then underseal preferably with a multi year solution. After all is it not correct to say that when we talk about rust we are usually talking about how we make sure surface rust does not become structural in a way that destroys the car? If a rust converter and undersealing is still an economic proposition then why would you not apply it and extend the longevity if your car?1 point

They shrink wrap everything over here including TV remotes;0) I've got the service record it's good until 2018 when there was a drivers side accident. No idea how bad, but that made it an insurance write off. Age and mileage alone would justify the write off with any accident. I got this from a vehicle report that shows all other headings as green. Its sat around for 6 years before being sold at auction and shipped over here, where they repaired, resprayed and stuck a ne was engine in it. So seems like a gamble. Gonna test drive tomorrow and take it to a garage for a second opinion and see if chassis is bent up.1 point

I've just changed my radiator again after the one I bought 5 years ago started to leak. It had cost me £100 off eBay. This time I priced a radiator from my Lexus dealer at £650 inc. VAT. (Don't forget to add VAT to the dealer prices.) So it was back to eBay and the price was still £100 inc, VAT after 5 years. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152429318586 ( If you look at the picture of the radiator on eBay, the top right hand corner has a small connecting pipe that goes to the reservoir bottle. Check you buy a radiator with this connection. All LS430s sold in the UK need this connection.) Other things like coolant look expensive at £90 for 6 liters - when 4 liters of concentrated coolant from COSTCO costs just over £10 and will make 12 liters when diluted. (The car needs 10L) I would not buy any idler pulleys without checking the existing ones first, if they turn smoothly and silently leave them alone. Belt tensioners are something else I would not replace. ( I bought a serpintine belt tensioner 10 years ago, and over 100K miles later it is still in its' box! ) 5 years ago I bought a genuine new timing belt and pump and got a local Lexus dealers' service department to fit them for £650.1 point

Facts are only relevant in perspective. Facts are facts - as you say... others may have different opinion, but not different facts. Yet if fact is irrelevant, then it is also irrelevant what is their opinion about it. In this context we can say "if UK police did their job and caught 100% of all criminals, then it would not matter what nationality they are"... is it not? That UK police is not good at it's job therefore is not a fault of Albanians... and therefore nationality of criminals is A FACT, but it is also IRRELEVANT one. Also also, I find it kind of ironic... many people said that leaving EU was so that "we can protect our borders". Yet - Albania is not part of EU, never had visa free entry to UK (and even to EU) and now after brexshaite they most certainly have no free access to UK (they never had free access to UK anyway). So what is justification for there being so many of them and so many specifically with criminal record, many of them are likely not even residents of UK who have permanent leave to remain, so in theory can be deported at any time, and on top of that it would be easy to deport them because they cannot seek asylum (Albania is not considered the country where people are prosecuted politically etc.) So what is even brexshaiter excuse for Albanians being to able to enter UK so freely and commit the crimes? It is abundantly clear that I don't believe nationality matters here, but I just can't see how it is being explained why UK is unable to resolve this issue? Lack of border control? But why? I thought the whole point of brexshaite was border control? Let's assume for a second the troubling group was Polish, or Lithuanian, or German... at least brexshaiter would be able to then have excuse to say "well you see this is all because of EU and open borders legacy", it would be BS, but it would be realistic argument to make even if wrong. But what is the excuse with Albanians, who never ever had free entry to UK? To simplify my leading question here - if it was true that Albanians are the issue, then it seems UK has all the tools and would be able to resolve this issue almost overnight (actually as mentioned - always had the tools to deal with non-EU immigrants). So why then it isn't resolved? And the lead here - because it is not immigrants, nor specific nationality of immigrants, fault. Now your counter argument can be, "so what is the solution then"... and the honest answer "it's complicated", but what I can say with certainly IS NOT the solution here is "blaming immigrants for everything".1 point

Test drive for a day would be really helpful. Unfortunately, I just had 15 mins of test drive and I was convinced that its a good car for me 🙂 Coming from BMW and Audi, I find the new info system bit frustrating but I guess you are already use to it from your NX350h. Having done over 1000 miles in last 3 weeks, I am overall happy to with ride quality as well. Suspension is on harder side but without being jittery or harsh. Motorway driving is amazing 🙂 Best of luck1 point

The rot started as far back as 2009. In Basingstoke 12 cars had their tyres slashed overnight. Hampshire police refused to attend saying that they do not attend or investigate car vandalism. A police friend was embarrassed to confirm what they said was true. That was 12 families and their friends becoming disillusioned with the police and holding them in contempt. I would have been respectful to send a bobby and someone to dust for fingerprints but the senior officers just didn’t care. A PR nightmare for the police and in my view this was the start of the rot.1 point

I’ve had confirmation from Toyota that my new CH-R has been shipped from the factory in Turkey, and is due to be delivered to me before the end of September. This brings to an end three Lexus in a row - two NX300h and my current RX450h. They’ve been great cars to own, with good dealer service. I feel especially privileged to have owned the RX for three years, and I know I’ll miss it. The power, the silence, the cosseting ride and the quality…but… …my circumstances have changed. I now only drive 2-3k miles a year, and can’t justify such a big car. The Toyota seems like a nice thing, pleasingly premium in most places and certainly good value. For £33k (after discounts and well below the £40k luxury car tax threshold list price) and a very strong trade in deal for my RX, I’ll be taking delivery of a silver and black 1.8 Excel Hybrid. I did consider the LBX, and looked at the UX but couldn’t justify the price difference over the Toyota. Time will tell if that is a good decision. It goes without saying that moving from an RX to a much smaller car comes with compromises, but these were far smaller than I expected and I know I’ll quickly get used to the new car. Obviously the theft issues have left a sour taste in recent months, but that was only part of my reason for downsizing. I’ve enjoyed being an active member on this forum, which has plenty of great members and lively discussion. I’ll still pop in from time to time and give honest feedback on the switch to Toyota. Best wishes all, Ed1 point

If I write a compare and contrast, even at this early stage, I’d say the conclusions are pretty obvious…but here goes. If I compare the CH-R with the LBX/UX 250h; - the Lexus dealer ‘experience’ is far superior, but then again I’ve read some dissatisfied customers on these forums so accept it is very dealer specific. In my case I bought three cars from Lexus Swindon (Fish Bros) and bought my CH-R from Fish Bros Toyota Swindon. The two dealers are a few hundred yards from one another. The difference is stark but, having said that, the Toyota dealer was fine. Not great, not terrible, just ok. They’ve managed to deliver the car with rubber floor mats in the boot from the previous model which don’t fit. I mean…really? 🙄🤔😂 - the Toyota is a LOT cheaper than the Lexus equivalent. At face value the difference doesn’t seem so great, but factor in larger discounts, lower rate finance deals and more equipment (model for model) and it all adds up. My CH-R Excel will work out about £4k cheaper over four years than an LBX with similar equipment, and even more against a UX (now 300h) which although it has a bigger engine is also well over the £40k threshold. - over my time with Lexus - 2xNX300h and my RX 450h - I’ve considered that interior quality has declined on the newer models. That’s my opinion based on my experience. Meanwhile, Toyota seem to have really upped their game. The CH-R interior is quite ‘premium’ in most places, but not everywhere. In common with the UX the rear door cards are especially disappointing. But there’s the thing…”in common with the UX.” Is a Lexus interior ‘posher?’ Yes. Is a Toyota interior a nice place to be these days? Based on the CH-R, also yes…and that’s coming remember from somebody who has just changed from an RX. - I may be wrong with this next one. The CH-R is based on the new Prius platform the dealer tells me. That is a more modern platform than the UX and the LBX is based on the Yaris Cross a class below. Having driven all of the cars before choosing, the CH-R did drive ‘better’ from my perspective. It felt far more nimble, steered more sharply and rode just as well as the UX and better than the LBX in my opinion. My conclusions? The Lexus has a better dealer experience and posher interiors. The Toyota is significantly cheaper but also quite nice. I mean, we all knew that already, right? 🤣🤣🤣1 point

Not an exact upgrade but I got a NX 450H after I sold my 2023 UX250H. Main difference is the whole electric experience. It feels nice to have that 40-50 miles of range on pure electric range. Also, you will love the power difference specially on motorway. But, to keep things in mind, habit of charging the car almost on daily basis can be challenging at first. You will have also invest in a wall charger (£800-£1000). Due to electric motor running very silently, you will tend to hear more road noise (topic for another day) compared to NX350H. Suspension is slightly stiffer to compensate for 200kgs of battery so ride quality might suffer (but nothing unbearable). Overall, I am really enjoying my NX450H. P.S. Changing the car is never driven by incentives in next car but its just a urge that pops up every 2 yrs😀1 point

Just a quick update for everyone. Had another mechanic look over it today and was told that there was small deposits built up on each side of the throttle body flap causing it to stick. Have you tried Lexus Insurance themselves for cover? They may be more willing to help you. They can be more expensive but as a last resort you could get insured with them long enough to get the dealer to release the car to you and then cancel the insurance (if you ultimately find cheaper or better cover elsewhere) within the 14 day cooling off period.1 point

Colin, what is even more embarrassing is that I know what the registration is as it is a personal plate but as the DVLA records don't show it as the dealer has not registered it with DVLA without insurance the insurance companies won't play! Hello Dave, I bought my brand new NX from Lexus Swindon earlier this year, and they arranged everything, including transfer of private plates from the trade in car to the new one. I had informed them previously that I did not need the complimentary two day drive away insurance. When the car was ready to be collected I contacted my insurer and set up my own insurance for the new car. I would email and question them why they won’t provide you with the same level of service as other main dealers. Maybe also cc Lexus UK Customer Relations.1 point

When I got my car 4 years ago it came with the Vlands. Wasn't a fan at the beginning but they grew on me. The light pattern is a bit scattered on high beam, but visibility is great and had no issues on MOTs etc. They've lasted me 4 years + whatever they've lasted the previous owner, so no issues with durability from me.1 point
