Other than the code for running lean none of the other issues sound like theyre altitude related. Juddering of the brakes is probably a bad rotor. Could have warped from overheating. Also oil at min is not normal even for a warm engine. The level should be between min and max even on a warm engine. When cold and no oil circulating it should be at max.3 points

Forget about the insurance, you've got a broken down car, not involved in any accident or claim incident. Write off classifications are only put on vehicle records by Insurance involvement which makes it irrelevant in your case.2 points

The price of the latest Lexus LS is approx 2.5 x what my 98 ls400 cost 26 years ago so I do not think the price is unjustified. The inflation will contribute most of that increase and techno improvements costs( R&D) will add a fair bit .The depreciation will not be as considerable as in the age of the LS400 because there are less being made so a smaller used buyers market. I was fortunate to get my car for less than 4k when it was 12 years old with 20k on the clock I believe it is worth a bit more than that now and I could afford a brand new all up LS but I do not see the point in that as I everything I need in the one I own. Cars are part of our lives and I have owned some real classics frog eyed sprite, sunbeam rapier ,Hillman californian, minivan, triumph herald, and a austin a40 farina the first hatchback. If I still owned those they would be worth a fortune but life dictates what we keep and what was happening at the time and those cars I mentioned were just modes of transport at the price I could just about afford they were not bought for any other reason and to that end nothing as changed I have now found the right car at the right price to keep.2 points

I have been researching and experimenting with Android Auto Wireless adapters for the LBX and I alighted upon the Ottocast A2 Air Pro as my chosen device. This costs £79 from Amazon although Amazon Resale have them for £52.50 as "used - like new" which was what I bought. It was new and never opened, worked perfectly. This particular device appealed because of its quality construction, small size and rapid connection of the Android Auto app to the car (approx 15 seconds) for either my wife's Pixel 7a or my Pixel 8. The biggest advantage though is it supports Bluetooth aptX HD so I can stream lossless music from phone to car. Basically, for reasons of compatibility, Lexus Bluetooth only supports A2DP for music which means your phone must deprecate the sound quality to about a third of that from a CD all because Apple refuse to join the high def sound over Bluetooth revolution and remain steadfastly stuck on the old technology. All modern Android phones support aptX. So if you send music from any Apple phone to any other Bluetooth device (speaker, headphones, car etc) you end up with pretty lousy sound (through those Mark Levinson speakers on the LBX!) unless you connect it to the USB-C socket. Both sending and receiving devices must support aptX for it to work. The Ottocast upgrades the LBX to allow Android Bluetooth high definition sound because it includes the necessary chip and plugs into the car USB-C port. It also has 5Ghz WiFi support. I used the included sticky pad to fix the Ottocast to the roof of the car charger pocket so it is out of the way and does not interfere with the phone. Only downside is I cannot see the beautiful pyramid light up when the phone connects!1 point

Honestly theres not much you can do anyway. Im sure the owners manual also states a certain amount of oil consumption is normal. As long as it is within that limit it should be fine. Also it is not unusual for engines to consume oil when pushed e.g driving uphill or frequent driving at full throttle. So top it up and keep checking.1 point
-
On my 400h, I occasionally had a low oil warning on steep hills. When I checked the oil level when cold, it was not particularly low. However, after topping up a little bit, the problem went away.1 point

Have you also got a video of going forwards? Now we can hear it better it doesn't sound so unusual. The "groan" noise is as the pad releases and is common - I find mine do it more after being stood for a while. After a good run they don't do it so much. Been the same since I've had the car. The "clunk" sounds like the pad engaging the disc and unless excessive I would say is normal. However, what I have found is that the brakes make slightly different noises when reversing as to going forwards (so why I said have you got a video going forwards). I used to get some brake squeal when reversing too (though that seems to have gone since I had the new disc and pads on the rear) but never when going forwards. I would assume that all the shims etc. are designed to make sure the pads don't move going forward. May be worth doing the same video going forwards and see how that sounds. But overall a lot less worrying (and may be no issue at all other then normal noises) than it seemed from the first video. The good news also is that those discs look brand new front and rear and so they weren't BS about that, that's saved you quite a bit of money as you should get close to 100k miles from the front and the rears could be 200k miles, notwithstanding anything else such as a sticking caliper.1 point

The OEM tyres on my car were Yokohama Bluearth E51A that I found perfectly adequate across a range of conditions and so I've continued to have these fitted at again each renewal - I get these fitted at my local Lexus dealer as they are always cheaper than anywhere else around me.1 point

Let me help straighten this out for you. The debt is owed by the country. The Labour govt think it is their job to handle this by reapportioning wealth from older to younger people so those younger people can pay down the debt in the future. Of course if one thinks that the older people pass their wealth to those younger people via existing channels then you might also think that the Labour govt need not interfere at all. See it is quite simple unless you are a Labour politicans suffering from dyscalrulia.1 point

But there's a 22 Zillion pound black hole and it was a difficult decision and it's not their fault and they were forced to do it even though they didn't want to, but they had to do it and some pensioners have zillions of pounds and live in big houses with dogs and things and what about the young people who can't afford a shed in London and all those wealthy expat pensioners ... zzzz .....zzz something's gone wrong, my head hurts, I can't go on. Thank God for that! NURSE!!!1 point

Just to add that my car is on standard 17" rims - if you get an F-Sport (or Premier) they have 18" rims and so tyres may not have quite the same mileage as I'm getting.1 point

To put things into perspective - I have run my 2014 IS 300h from when it was two years old until today (so for 8 years now) and in that time taken it from 40k miles to 152K miles. Without fail, the front tyres have always lasted 40k miles and the rears 20k miles. There has always been some inner edge wear front and rear but not excessive and when I replaced the tyres they were always around 3mm tread in the centre even through the inside edges were a bit less, as I understand it that is normal geometry for the car. Some people have changed the bushings on here and so I'm sure they will come in to let you know how much difference it made. But overall, tyre wear is not excessive on the IS 300h - if it is then there is an alignment problem that needs sorting first and that will be 80% of the issue with changing bushes 20% difference at most.1 point

What a great site definitely worth reading and supporting, I particularly like this comment "The National Trust is set to make half of its cafe food vegan to support its efforts to reach net zero." And K. Starmer criticised the Conservatives for claiming that the NT pursued "woke" policies.1 point

According to the Which? guide to your legal rights (see this link), you can reject the car in the first 30 days and get a full refund. Their article says:"In the first 30 days after you buy a car, if it is unfit for purpose, of unsatisfactory quality, or not as described you can ask for a repair or replacement. You are not obliged to accept one and can insist on a full refund, which the dealer will be legally obliged to give." I think the key phrase to use in any letter of complaint is that the car is "not of satisfactory quality". Have a look at the Which? guide so that you at least know what your legal rights are. You probably don't want to reject the car as it seems like a hassle. But the threat of doing so may persuade the dealer to take your complaint seriously.1 point

Re noise moving car. If you're in reach of a Lexus dealer maybe go there and request they listen to the noise etc as you just bought car with warranty and would like their advice. It maybe the brake pad wear rubbing on the disc. Just my guess.1 point

I have same colour IS and the picture shows the clear plastic paint protectors. Mine looks same. I was enquiring with Lexus yesterday and they cost about £40 for the one on the door and £20 for the one on the wheel arch. That's each price. The tech said they're a real pain to put on. I'm going to call the body shop and get more advice. Get a smart 12v charger and fit the two pin plug in lead to the battery in the boot. Can also recommend a four wheel suspension alignment check. Enjoy your car.1 point

I agree it was confusing AF when I was buying my 2014 exec a few years ago. Ended up missing out on some features i really wanted e.g the external mirrors dont auto dim but the inside one does but the car comes with privacy darkened glass so theres no point in having dimming rear view mirrors inside as everything looks dimmed anyway. Outside is where i needed it.1 point

That link leads to a great resource! Unfortunately, the link you've put up leads to a June 2013 brochure, that won't show all the versions available for 2014 - and it doesn't show the car you're interested in. https://autocatalogarchive.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Lexus-IS-2015-UK.pdf This is an October 2015 catalog that does show the specifications (for that model year) and includes the Executive. : o )1 point

To confirm, the IS 300h does not produce a fake motor sound to warn pedestrians / cyclists. It is likely one of the quietest cars in EV mode, and one need to be mindful on this when rolling in EV around people (I live in a 20 with lots of pedestrians during the day). A kid once turned around rather suddenly and almost rode into the car on a bike because he was oblivious to the cars presence only a few metres behind him. He was very surprised.1 point

As you can see from the above post, I was planning to get CC2’s in the next few months. During my 30k service last week, the dealer rang me to say the front tyres were down to 3mm and did I want them changing (to Bridgestone Alenza 001 Run Flats - the same as were already on)? They had them in stock. I asked if they had 4 in stock and when they said yes I asked them to replace all 4. The noise reduction from having 8mm of tread rather than 3 - 4 mm is quite noticeable. I assume Bridgestone have shipped new stock to the UK.1 point

Interesting question, I am also looking at CC2 from Costco - is this the best deal around? Alternatively Goodyear V 4seasons Thanks for your thoughts1 point

As has already been said, either way will work. 12V is 12V whether it's at the front, back, top or side of the car and all you're doing is piggy-backing a known good 12V source onto a dodgy 12V source, so no worries either way1 point
-
Either method will work. I've always charged my UX using the jump terminals in the engine bay as it is more convenient.1 point

Both our cars have Michelin pilot sports tyres, low profile. The 200t is hard as a rock and the ISF is like it has no suspension at all - hard as a very hard rock. If you push down on the rear quarter it does not budge, and yes the suspension is correct and not faulty, it's just the way it is. Crash bang wallop. But the handling at speed ( on a dry road ) is spot on. I have not dared push it anywhere near its limits and capability.1 point

Once the horrendous first 2 or 3 years depreciation has played it's part a high spec car seems like a better option. My LS500h is the Pleat model and the spec is very very high in all areas and bought as a six year old car. This is where the appeal lies for me because the mileage tends to be modest and the service history also tends to be main dealer. Can't say I put too much store in the over egged 10 year extended warranty, mainly because I tried to make a claim for a noisy door window blind which was rejected immediately but that aside the car is an excellent and well made car with great mpg returns. Would still only buy a really good used vehicle though.1 point

Work occasionally. It is totally unreliable. Sometimes you can lock and unlock the car, set the charge time, set the climate control. All of these functions are useful if they work consistently. I would have thought Lexus could have included trip mileage in the App but thats clearly beyond them. Hope you're now enlightened.1 point

Just an update, no word from the dealership. I contacted Lexus UK. Advised them of my circumstances and questioned whether there had been a change of specification with the bushing. This resulted in Lexus Uk contacting me the following day. They supplied the part and arranged that the dealer fitted it free of charge. It took 30 mins. I only purchased the car five months previously from the dealership. Hope this helps others in a similar situation.1 point

So you suggest they pay the most junior of doctors £14 an hour? And 5 years after they've completed the degree they're still earning £25 and hour which is less than what plumbers and electricians charge yet people wonder why they go to Australia / Middle east / USA where you could earn double/ triple the salary. Either way if it wasn't for junior doctors who actually run the hospitals there wouldn't be any pensioners..... 22% is incorrect by the way. The media has made it sound higher than it is as it includes the £1000 one off payment and the 6 % last year so it's actually not a 22% increase on top of what they're on, it works out 22% in entirety over 2 years which is still a bad deal. 35% is not unreasonable when your average Junior doctor can't pay a plumber or builder amongst the fees to pay GMC, defense unions, student finance. The alternative would be to privatise the whole system, doctors would make a killing and patients may be better off in some circumstances1 point

I am just going to change to Michelin Cross Climate 2 all seasons come the autumn. I have 28000 on the Bridgestones so I am not losing anything by changing all 4. I hate Lexus for putting a rare tyre on the 20 inch rims.🤬1 point
-
I think Lexus UK should instruct all dealers to change all 4 tyres to none run flats if you have a puncture, and supply an inflator with foam. Guessing it won't happen so looks like I will be faced with £1,000 bill to change all 4 should we end up with a puncture. Ridiculous situation and totally unacceptable.1 point

Don't bother giving it a thought. It sorts itself out. Mine is rarely 'fully charged', only after a long mountain descent. The system doesn't allow it get too low either, just diverts power generated by the engine to charge the battery if needed. One of those rare things that just 'works'. Enjoy your purchase!1 point
