If you get the time take some pictures of the job and make a tutorial please.3 points

The Lexus has been sold! Had genuinely planned to keep this car for a long time, but with my job being so close to home, me having the Lexus, a Van & a motorbike on the road, something had to give so i gave up the Lexus. The money will be put to good use on the house so not a complete waste. Easily the best/most reliable car I've owned and wouldn't hesitate to get one again. I'll be without a "car" of my own for a year or so, I'm keeping the van as it's handy for my bike racing I do and the cycling my wife does. in a year or so once we've sorted the house & if I've got the fund I think I'm going to have a look at get a Subaru Legacy estate, either an STI or Spec B 6 Cylinder. All the best!2 points

I also read this today from the open policy forum " The Labour Party’s largest-ever donation came from a Cayman Islands-registered hedge fund with shares worth hundreds of millions of pounds in fossil fuels, private health firms, arms manufacturers and asset managers. While the £4m donation by Quadrature Capital is the sixth-largest in British political history, it is noteworthy not just for its size, but also its timing. I wonder what they expect as well as the unions?2 points

I must admit I was surprised b your latest post and especially so given how much deliberation you went through in your quest to buy an LC. I wonder, would you mind sharing with us the reason(s) why you sold the car and of course I'm sure many others would appreciate your summary of ownership. It would also be interesting to hear of the proposed or actual replacement, assuming that is already a consideration or even a done deal.2 points

Keep your money in your wallet because let's face it, none of them are much good are they? You don't want LFA on the plate because the car isn't an LFA and that would just look silly and needy, and the first one just makes no sense whatsoever - too much of a stretch to make it say Lexus.2 points

Yes they are and thank you again, I had waited so long and passed on several private sales.1 point

I tend to agree with you the basic idea of driving means we should be focusing on the road rather than on the fancy tech. But i guess its a balance between what is useful vs what is just fancy gadgetry and it will be different for different people. Also i think its about what we've grown used to. I always thought i needed a reverse camera but now that i have one i find it easier to reverse without the camera. Its still useful to see obstacles that would otherwise be difficult to see but it doesnt help with parking at much. My wife on the other hand who is a relatively newer driver has really figured out how to use the reverse cam to align the car perfectly.1 point

Thanks for the feedback Ron, I agree entirely. I will just keep a lookout for any warning lights in the future. All good so far! 🤞🙂 BTW after looking to solve this I discovered the setup screen with maintenance ( where I could delete the message ) Very handy, plus it proves that it was a maintenance message and not a warning.1 point

I had to replace a rear brake hose a few weeks back due to it leaking. I intended to change it myself and got one from eBay for just over £20 and it arrived within 24hrs. Long story short, I couldn't fit it as I couldn't even get the old one off as the metal brake pipes were so extremely corroded and weak - they were just twisting and on the brink of snapping when I made any attempt to remove the hose. I ended up having to get a local garage to fit new hoses and replace the sections of rotten piping on both sides. Now yours might not be as bad as mine were, Bilal, but just thought I might warn of what could be in store. The stability control component is interesting. Could the tester be talking about the headlamp level sensor? It's found on the nearside and has a rod linkage... Looking at parts diagrams, the actual skid control sensor just looks like a wire of sorts - Diagram1 point

OK after further searching I think he means the front near side height sensor as this is the only associated component that has a mechanical linkage. These are a common failure due to their alloy construction and they fracture at one end at the ball joint. Jon Evans a member on here actually designed a replacement for the LS400 but this could easily be modified for the IS250. You could buy the complete sensor for around £450.00 or just get the link made with some threaded bar and a couple of swivel joints and just replace that. Link below is Jon’s solution, you just need to match the length for the IS250. https://www.evansweb.info/2009/11/23/ls400-ride-height-sensor-repair/ If you could confirm this is the problem with the MOT tester I would be happy to make you one, I’m also just over the county border in Derbyshire so could also fit it for you for the cost of my fuel and a few beer tokens 😀 This should be the part, but obviously I can make one for a fraction of that price! https://tinyurl.com/yrfvxsbv Or if you’re feeling flush the Lexus price for the complete assembly.1 point

Cheers Steve, the guy at the garage mentioned it was some kind of linkage that was missing and you may need the whole assembly for it but don't know much else as far as I can tell1 point

You need to login to Lexus Link within the system, and ensure your key is paired with your profile. ideally your dealer would have helped set this up when you bought the car, but it’s easy enough to do if you follow the onscreen instructions or manual if you get stuck.1 point

I don't see why not. As long as it has the factory loom in the boot and it has a navigation system1 point

Been loving the ISF. Hate the TEYES head unit as I cannot get the climate control to work and it doen'nt even have decent sound. The only thing I like is the GPS speedometer. Now looking to get rid of it and reassemble my original unit. Need the climate control to work or inside will mist up and I'll freeze while driving.1 point

I contacted Lexus UK this month with my car registration details to ask if 'CAN Bus' was an issue for me (2020UX) . They replied and said, yes, and told me to contact my local Lexus dealer. I rang them this morning. The person I spoke to knew nothing and said that someone from their Service department would call me. Nothing back as yet.1 point

in some sort of summary …….. much older cars with aircon kept on permanently have a different “ quality “ of gas and gassing and might have good longevity …… BUT being kept on permanently is quite essential 🤔 Later cars AC have different “ quality “ gas and possibly reduced longevity it seems 🤔 and often need lots of £££££££ spent to refurbish the AC system set-up …… or £99 a year ? On a check-up indeed my 91 Ls400 AC is permanently on and I can find no trace of ever re-gassing in the paperwork …… and it works fine 🤞🤞🤞….. and I open windows lots too 😄 My 95 car AC packed up very soon after I bought her in 2011’ish and I haven’t had it looked at as the prior owner had it all re-done/ gassed just before my purchase ……. I open windows ok …… I’d possibly be faced with a huge and uneconomic bill to fix maybe …… greater than the cars worth possibly 🤔 I can live with it all as-is 😄 Malc1 point

Had a nice drive in the car at the weekend to Samphire Hoe near Dover, which has the added benefit of being reached by a narrow (single-lane) 300 metre long tunnel. The sound certainly put a smile on the face. Unfortunately, it was my final drive in the car, as it has now been sold. Lots of reasons why the decision was made; i'll probably add a little summary of my short ownership experience to my original post from when I was looking for a car.1 point

Flew over to Southport early Saturday morning to be picked up at the airport by Lexus of Hedge End. They were very through in both preparing my car and also detailing, cleaning and making sure it was perfect. Got the ECU and NAV updated as well as new rears and a service. They also fitted a Cat5 tracker for me with three years service. The car is as close to perfect as I could have hoped for. The 1st 200miles I took it easy and just let the big girl cruise up towards Wales but once we were over the bridge we took what I will call a 'spirited' drive to Port Talbot sea front for a leg stretch and an icecream. The car never missed a beat and never disappointed. You guys already know all of this of course. What else can I say but wow. I have been privileged enough to own and drive quite a few performance cars over the years and what I wanted from the LC was not another Porsche but something that I could use and enjoy on any given work day in quiet elegance but then also use in anger when the notion grabbed me. That is exactly what the LC is, a true Jackal and Hyde car in the best way possible. For 350 miles across England and Wales it averaged 35.2MPG, driving on mostly motorway at around 70-80mph. Impressive indeed, once in Sport+ mode that number tumbled but every £1 spent on fuel delivered £2 in fun. The ferry from Fishguard to Rosslair took us overnight and at 6am on Sunday morning I started the 4hour run to home in Armagh Northern Ireland. I have about 500miles on the car so far and it is something very special. Many cars offer performance and even tight handling, but very few offer a sense of occasion like the LC. I don't have any decent photos yet and as well I want to properly clean and detail the car myself, but when I do I will try and get some good photos, not that you other owners need them, because you are all experiencing exactly the same thing that I am.1 point

Not done much work on the LS400 for a while but needed to spend a few hours on the rear brakes at the weekend and is a lesson to me to 'not put off planned work', don't be a hypocrite and practice what I preach 😄 To set the 'scene': When I purchased the car, 3 years in December and how time flies, new discs and pads had been fitted all round. Not Lexus/Toyota OE though. I purchased new discs/pads/fitting kit/anti squeal shims/pad sensors for both front and rear, the original shims were missing. I replaced the front discs/pads/shims/pad sensor etc. a few months later but figured I'd leave the rears for a while but didn't get round to doing them, first mistake! The rear pad sensor had been cut and shorted out, I have a new sensor so decided I'd replace it when I did the discs and pads, second mistake!! What happened: While driving on Friday late afternoon I heard a 'something catching' sound on the rear when turning left at a junction, sounded like the drivers rear, then it disappeared when driving straight. I suspected a brake dust plate catching a disc, when coming to a stop at my destination it sounded like a brake pad was 'metal on metal' but not really loud. Drove back home and couldn't really replicate the issue. Saturday morning took the front wheels off and checked for anything catching rubbing, all ok. Took the passenger rear wheel off to do the same, discs good, pads ok really, getting low but had decent even wear. Rears are sliding calipers so checked the slider pins, both pins were seized which is a common problem if not checked and greased regularly. I hadn't done this so is the third mistake!!! Wasn't in the mood to replace the discs and pads so removed the caliper carrier and, after quite a bit of work, freed up the slider pins. One was really seized and took ages to free up, but anyway....... everything cleaned up, greased, reassembled, fitted back to the car with the existing pads as they were and the calipers sliding as they should. At this point, note to myself to purchase new slider pins and seals etc (maybe new caliper carriers) and replaced the discs and pads as soon as possible along with the new pad wear sensor but they will be fine until I do it all. Removed the drivers rear wheel to have a look and check, one slider pin was seized but the other was ok. Outer pad looked ok but the inner pad was worn wafer thin and was metal on metal on the lower corner. Of course I've found the cause of the noise noticed the day before. Although not in the mood for doing it, I had no choice but to fit the new discs/pads/shims etc. A few hours later new disc/pads/shims fitted and grease applied in the correct areas, parking brake shoes adjusted as best I could, wheels back on and wheel nuts torqued up. All good and chuffed with myself, walked back in the garage and saw the new pad wear sensor lying on the bench 😠 not happy but that can wait until I get all the new slider pins and seals. A lesson learned, and the rear caliper sliders will be checked on a regular basis and greased which is something IS250 owners know all about. Braking is a lot better now, I can feel the rear braking and it brakes level rather than the front dipping down. I have said in previous topics that owners don't notice gradual degradation in suspension and brake type stuff and it's not until someone else drives the car that they notice, this is a prime example (slightly different but same principle) and has happened to me when I didn't think it would ☺️and I'm suitably embarrassed. I still have the slider pins and dust seals etc to order and fit along with new parking brake shoes, which I have already, but after that it's back to trouble free motoring for a while.1 point

We don't all have space to park two LSes Malc, let alone a Honda Legend and whatever the Mrs drives. 🤣 I do have a garage, but that is full of motorcycles. When I win the Lottery I'll have one of each. LS400 Mk1, Mk2, Mk3, Mk4, 01-03 LS430, and 04-06 LS430. One for each day of the week and on Sundays they can all sit in a row while I admire someone else polishing them. 🤣1 point
