Flew over to Southport early Saturday morning to be picked up at the airport by Lexus of Hedge End. They were very through in both preparing my car and also detailing, cleaning and making sure it was perfect. Got the ECU and NAV updated as well as new rears and a service. They also fitted a Cat5 tracker for me with three years service. The car is as close to perfect as I could have hoped for. The 1st 200miles I took it easy and just let the big girl cruise up towards Wales but once we were over the bridge we took what I will call a 'spirited' drive to Port Talbot sea front for a leg stretch and an icecream. The car never missed a beat and never disappointed. You guys already know all of this of course. What else can I say but wow. I have been privileged enough to own and drive quite a few performance cars over the years and what I wanted from the LC was not another Porsche but something that I could use and enjoy on any given work day in quiet elegance but then also use in anger when the notion grabbed me. That is exactly what the LC is, a true Jackal and Hyde car in the best way possible. For 350 miles across England and Wales it averaged 35.2MPG, driving on mostly motorway at around 70-80mph. Impressive indeed, once in Sport+ mode that number tumbled but every £1 spent on fuel delivered £2 in fun. The ferry from Fishguard to Rosslair took us overnight and at 6am on Sunday morning I started the 4hour run to home in Armagh Northern Ireland. I have about 500miles on the car so far and it is something very special. Many cars offer performance and even tight handling, but very few offer a sense of occasion like the LC. I don't have any decent photos yet and as well I want to properly clean and detail the car myself, but when I do I will try and get some good photos, not that you other owners need them, because you are all experiencing exactly the same thing that I am.3 points

Are we familiar with the concept "empire building"? In this case when it is applied to people and groups rather than countries. In my life I have seen Govt take ever greater control over the people of the country and in so doing politicians have been "empire building" and this seems to have happened regardless of party. These days I think of "government" and "politics" has more of a business than anything. It's primary concern appears to me to be one of seeking out growth for the prosperity of those involved in it. Only is it a secondary consideration that the people they are governing might actually get what they are paying for. The huge problem with this is that politicians are the key holders to this activity. They grant themselves ever greater power and has far as I can see no one has the ability to put a check on them and say no more. It is one ever growing trough and it's like having first dibs on Santas Xmas Sack.3 points

OK if I had this issue I would insist on an engine diagnostic report or just go to a good independent garage and plug the analyser in for a printed report. Then get the dealer to sort out the faults and re-do the test for all green lights First impressions that I got from your list of issues was spark plug or HT lead breakdown but it sounds a wee bit more complex. Next check is dirty fuel or water in the fuel and blocked fuel filter?? Best of luck!3 points

Having read the Lexus press release "Lexus partners with Tracker to enhance vehicle security" that Lexus put out on 12th September; I called my dealer. I was told by the dealer that they would not fit a tracker as I have a Ghost fitted which they said was much better than the tracker and could be hard to fit as the Ghost is already fitted. I only know what they tell me 🙂2 points
-
I told them that when I first bought the car that there was an issue with the map updates with it coming up with the message to contact the dealer and they told me it’s because there was no map updates is why it was coming up with the message and now after a year they are now saying that there is an issue.2 points

Just had a call out of the blue from my local dealer to arrange a date for me to have the tracker fitted to my NX350h (yes, they called me rather than the reverse 😀). I didn't think they were offering it to Gen 2:NX owners as I was under the impression that that particular model wasn't prone to the canbus vulnerability. Anyway, not wishing to look a gift horse in the mouth, I have the car booked in for Thursday. I realise that the type of tracker being offered has it's limitations but it's better than nothing plus it may help with insurance renewal costs, especially considering that I am currently with Lexus Insurance.2 points

Hi Kev had tracker fitted last Friday different between yours and mine yours try’s to them stop stealing it mine they have to catch them after they have stolen it think you have better deterrent only tracker was fitted free sooner have had the ghost just might go the distance and have one.2 points

Can’t argue with the sentiment - and it’s certainly appropriate - but the statement: …government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth” was by President Abraham Lincoln as part of his Gettysburg Address in 1863 at which time Keir Hardie was only seven! However, were Hardie alive today, this might be a more appropriate quote! https://images.app.goo.gl/YmDPNB9PuCzST8uHA2 points

Also try disconnecting the LED headlights and see if that fixes it. LEDs have a lot of electronics in them and it could be that they are interfering with something in the engine management. I've heard of it before, but not seen it myself.2 points

^^ I find it fascinating that politicians can clearly see such issues when they are in Opposition, but once they get into power the money, expenses and ability to ‘bend’ rules for their own financial benefit makes them blind. I’ve already noted how large sections of the media continue to fawn over Starmer’s fantastic ‘judgement’ as well as his ‘ethics’ and even ‘messianic destiny’ (Andrew Marr, what were you thinking 🤣). It’s that ‘my father was a toolmaker’ claptrap again. However, it’s becoming clear that his judgement is poor. The Winter Fuel Allowance has created a storm I don’t actually think he thought would be this severe. I’ll bet Labour thought this would be a couple of days of noise, then it would be forgotten. That’s poor political judgement. Then there’s the cronyism allegations, following on so rapidly from gaining power promising to ‘clean up’ politics. That’s poor political judgement too, and shows a level of contempt for both the truth and the electorate. Next, the donations used for his clothes and those for his wife. How on earth did he expect the public to react to an entitled and wealthy couple taking money like that while at the same time cutting the WFA for pensioners receiving a state pension as low as £11,500 a year? That’s poor ethical judgement. On this subject, fair play to Labour MP Rosie Duffield, who posted on X the story that Starmer may face an investigation over this issue with only the word ‘Change’ as her heading. Bravo! I could go back to his poor moral judgement at holding a pizza and beer event while COVID restrictions were in place. Anybody with a moral compass can see that event wasn’t really necessary - PR people like to speak about ‘optics’ - but Starmer did it anyway, evidently considering himself untouchable. He got away with it, but it was still questionable judgement. Finally, the recruitment of Sue Gray. That’s poor ethical judgement, as she - and Labour officials - broke Civil Service policies and standards. She would likely have been sanctioned but left the service to join Labour. I’m afraid that, rather than the boring and stable Prime Minister we were told we’d be getting, we’ve instead got a liar with judgement at least as poor as others in recent history. He himself said that Boris Johnson had “…an uncomfortable relationship with the truth.” Karma is a funny thing, Sir Keir…🤔😂😇2 points

Hi guys, Just bought a 250h UX 2020 and there's no jack or wheel brace, just a tow eye and emergency inflation kit. The vehicle has run flat tires fitted. So my question:- is this correct.1 point

Apologies, I am very new here! Thanks for going gently on me. Have had offers in the region of £7,000. Have a few potential viewings lined up. MOT has just been completed in Sept 2024. So next MOT due in 2025. Apologies, I can't see how to edit my post! Reg is H8PPY - which will be retained by owner. Thanks! Janice1 point

Thanks for your reply. I'm more comfortable with manual override because this is the first car I've had with this feature and I'm not used to it. As they automatically came on this morning I just assumed in fog they would stay on. You live and learn!1 point

I find I always need to manually turn on auto headlights in fog in all the cars I have owned. Although there may be poor visibility, the sky can still be quite bright and therefore not turn on the headlights. In fog it’s just not worth taking a chance and I always turn them on myself, the same with rain too. Safely is so important and sometimes a human knows best.1 point

I have to say... having driven a car with them, I found them distracting. Especially on the motorway. Happy not to have them and go 'old school'.1 point

Hi Pauly I only picked it up on Friday so not really got to grips with it yet. I went on the motorway for a 40 mile run (horrendous weather) so it was difficult to get a feeling for the car. I will post some comments once I've driven it a bit more. At present I can't fault it. And I'll have a read of your views.1 point

From today's express " Labour MP Alex Baker was hounded by angry pensioners at a pub where she was reportedly booed over the winter fuel payment cuts. A video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter shows people at the pub shouting “Rushmoor people first” & “and our pensioners”. Looking further into the Aldershot MP there are large contributions from Unions but more intriguing from a medical plc called OPD. It has had Virginia Bottmley as a director, and made significant contributions to Baker and Wes Streeting. Let's see which committee she pops up on?1 point

If you can't find the info you need I highly recommend buying a multimeter. As you can see here you don't need to spend a lot of money on one but they are invaluable for sorting out electrical problems. All you need do is to use the meter to find one fuse that is permanently 'live' and has 12V on it all the time. Then find a second fuse that is only live and only has 12V on it when the car is in ACC (or is it READY mode, I can't remember). Finally you'll need a good earthing/grounding point (any unpainted and clean screw/nut/bolt/bracket will do). It doesn't matter what the fuse you're tapping into is rated at because the 'piggy-back add-a-fuse' (one of these things) you'll use for the camera will have it's own fuse.1 point

Some more info on this concerning the parking brake adjustment. Attempt #1 After replacing the discs I adjusted the parking brake shoes using a method I've used in the past for cars with brake shoes rather than disc/calipers at the rear, adjust the shoes until they bind then back of so they are just rubbing/catching. Parking brake wouldn't hold, even though I attached a couple of wheel nuts - applied parking brake and used a 2 foot pry bar to try and turn the wheel/s. So consulted the manual and tried again. Attempt #2 Rear off the ground using 2 x 3 ton trolley jacks, both rear wheels off the car (all done safely with front wheels chocked front and rear) Adjust the parking brake on both sides so they are both engaged - back off the adjustment 8 'notches or clicks' on both sides. Attached a couple of wheel nuts - applied parking brake and used a 2 foot pry bar to try and turn the wheel/s and all good I thought. Wheels back on etc and tested, still not holding, what am I doing wrong or what am I missing? Attempt #3 Had a think about it some more, looked at the manual again and then the penny dropped................new discs and therefore the parking brake 'drum' needs 'bedding in' to the parking shoes. How thick am I ????.......🤣 For cars with brake shoes rather than disc/calipers at the rear, the shoes will bed in as normal because they are being used when the car is moving of course but the parking brake isn't. Below are the instructions for 'after' replacing the parking brake shoes, I adjusted them ok but then didn't do the 'settling in....' bit at the end because I hadn't replaced the parking brake shoes. However, discs are new so the same principle applies of needing to 'bed them in' to new discs. I was a bit apprehensive of applying the parking brake while travelling at 30mph for 400 yards, gauging 147 n of pressure and repeating it a few times more but I did it this morning on the way to work and parking brake now holds ok and as normal. It all makes sense now and I won't forget in a hurry, it's now ready for the MOT in a couple of weeks and will maybe help others when they replace the rear discs/pads and or parking brake shoes and then find the parking brake is Cr@p and doesn't hold.1 point

We don't all have space to park two LSes Malc, let alone a Honda Legend and whatever the Mrs drives. 🤣 I do have a garage, but that is full of motorcycles. When I win the Lottery I'll have one of each. LS400 Mk1, Mk2, Mk3, Mk4, 01-03 LS430, and 04-06 LS430. One for each day of the week and on Sundays they can all sit in a row while I admire someone else polishing them. 🤣1 point

A friend in Belgium had a CX2500 Familiale but it was a Mk1 so had Flintstone driver and passenger footwells and eventually failed it's Contrôle Technique (MOT) and was crushed,... despite all the welding done on it. I have many fond memories of that car as it was our late-teens/early 20s party-wagon and Mac still has the rear view mirror from it in his garage. If pushed hard in the twisties, it coped amazingly well for such a huge barge, but the same couldn't be said for the passengers, who frequently ended up losing their lunch!! Yes, it rocked-and-rolled,.... a LOT! 🤮 My Dad had an XM Activa V6 Estate which was an amazing car. It had less of the Citroen weirdness and still had the wafty suspension of the CX, but when you threw it at the twisties it stayed level and composed. He loved it for the maybe 3 months he got to drive it out of the 6 months he owned it. Awful reliability!!! Eventually, Citroen refunded his money and he got an Ford Scorpio Ultima instead. That was a nice car and super reliable, but not as nice as the XM.1 point

Air and polen filters change interwals are depends on air quality where the car is used. I used to work for a car dealer in east europe. And there was one air filter change for two oil changes interwals. But anyway, it had to be taken out and cleaned with a compressed air, that was essential minimum what had to be done. I've seen cars where air filters had to be changed twice within one oil change(6000mls). that usually happened with turbocharged cars.1 point

So if the rear steering fails and the wheels are pointed straight, then its basically a gs450h that still drives normal🤔🤔🤔1 point

It’s just lazy journalism. The reviewer latches on to comments made by some journalist many moons ago and feels that “to be in the know” he has to echo those same comments. He doesn’t understand why but he’s too scared to be the one to break the mould. Journalists are lazy, most reports tend to be a plagiarism on someone’s else’s lazy report. It’s a never ending spiral!1 point

The radar sensors are expensive. They certainly won’t be there if the vehicle’s spec doesn’t include them.1 point

Probably very expensive. You would need new mirrors and the sensors to detect the objects in the blind spot plus the electronics. I would think it would be cheaper to sell the car and buy one with it fitted already. You used to be able to get mirrors to stick on the side mirrors that would show the blind spot.1 point

Hi Janice and welcome to the LOC. As Jonathan correctly mentions it is a condition of selling on the LOC that a price is listed. As a new member I have attached a link below, also as Malc suggests revealing the vehicle registration would also help you sell it as it allows potential buyers to check the MOT history and perform other checks on websites.1 point

No to your last Don. Bought it early August so understand I’m outside of the 30 day window, but of course inside the 6 month window. My starter for 10 will be a chat with a tekky tomorrow., and he’ll get all the details, along with my frustrations. I see that stopping using my car would appear to strengthen my case, but not sure that’s an option. By continuing to use it, I run the risk of having a greater chunk of money being taken off any refund. I will see what the tekky guys says before deciding my strategy.☹️1 point

I've dealt with a number of dealers from different manufacturers over the years. Both professionally and privately. However, for the sake of time and to keep it on topic, I'll discuss my experiences with two different Lexus dealers. The difference between them have been not quite 'chalk and cheese' but the difference in service is very noticeable. Obviously for the sake of the people who work there, I'd rather not name either of them. Dealer One - Where my UX250h was purchased from in 2020. The dealership itself wasn't anything special. In an older, smaller showroom but spotlessly clean. A perfectly pleasant salesperson dealt with me and was active in looking for options within their network to locate a car for me. Sadly none could be found, but I took the car they had in the showroom as it was literally everything I wanted including the option packs. The only downside is that it wasn't my first choice in colour - but hey-ho. I could have ordered one from scratch - again basically the same car with the same options in a different exterior colour. However, it would have taken roughly sixteen weeks. I was quite happy to take the showroom car and the whole process from ordering to handover took about two weeks. I could have brought it forward a few days but due to work commitments I couldn't - but I could have had the car comfortably inside a fortnight had things worked out better at my end. Very good indeed. Handover was first class and in the handover room with all the fancy lighting. Fast, efficient and perfectly pleasant. Not the best handover experience I've ever had (Audi still retains that title on two separate counts), but would still come in a very respectable third. Service of the UX250h - Dealer one wasn't my nearest/local dealer, so I ended up taking the car to my nearest dealer when it came to servicing and it's first MOT. No real complaints. All services carried out efficiently and I found the staff friendly. The only negative mark I could give them was on it's third service - when they didn't reset the service indicator in the car. Just an oversight which can happen anywhere I suppose. Dealer Two - Already well documented on here if you want to go back over my earlier posts on this forum for the full story. Given the decent overall experience I had with the servicing I had on the UX, I decided that my second and current Lexus, the NX350h, would be ordered from my local dealer. At this time, dealer one was still in touch with me and were happy to do another deal with me. I should have taken it. Okay, I'll give you the positives over the ordering. A friendly and clearly knowledgeable salesperson. A painless experience in ordering and I was told it would take up to a year in terms of getting the car. Absolutely fine - I ordered well in advance knowing this fact. I was told I would receive semi-regular updates as to where we were up to with my order and to keep on checking my app. Again, no problem at all. This is where it all goes terribly wrong and I'll try and keep it brief. It took the full twelve months (almost to the day) before the dealer made their first contact with me - which didn't involve me contacting them first. It actually took an official complaint in order for them to do something...anything. In short, they still hadn't a clue when my car was going to be built. Also at this point, my app wasn't even showing I had this new car on order. Two months later I was basically "told off" by the salesperson because I'd been in touch with Lexus head office to try and find out an update on my car - when the said salesperson was clearly avoiding me who I tried contacting first. In the end it took 16 months to get the car (of which many fellow NX owners were getting theirs several months earlier having ordered at the same time, if not later than myself...). The app never shown my order, it being built, leaving Japan, arriving in the country, arriving at the dealer...nothing whatsoever. The dealer wouldn't tell me anything and Lexus head office just kept pointing me back to the dealer despite me telling them I was getting nowhere with them. I only got to find out the car was 'in production' when it was basically already at sea and the next thing I knew it was at the dealers. I was very much kept out of the loop unlike many other customers at the time who were having information back from their own dealers and were getting updates on their app. The handover experience? Well, given the non-existent service I had in the ordering process I didn't expect much and indeed, it wasn't. The car was left in the car park. No handover room and all the paperwork was done in the salesperson's office. It was very much like buying a used car despite handing them over £50k. I've had the car just over a year now and I'm still waiting for any customer survey form asking me about my car or dealer experience. Am I surprised? No. Actually - tell a lie. I actually received a form for a car I didn't own (it was another NX) about three months ago which I posted back to say this isn't my car to which I got a letter back about a fortnight later to basically tell me they have my correct information, it was a mistake at their end and no data protection rules have been broken. Did I subsequently receive the correct form? Nope. Nothing. A few weeks ago it went in for it's first service which I was absolutely dreading, but trusted it would be fine given the service side of the dealer was generally fine. I had the car collected and brought back to me because I have no intentions of ever setting foot in that place again. Fortunately it came back fine, although it took my app close to a week for it to acknowledge the car had actually been serviced...1 point

Fairly new here and love the forum, it's a world away from my last experience as a BMW X3 owner where every other post was about faults, failures and "known issues" that plague the models (and mine was no exception)! I'm a photographer and couldn't resist taking the new car out for a shoot. Not sure why and not sure if anyone will find these of interest but I enjoyed it, the car and my new desktop pics! 👍1 point

I just use Gatwick Lexus because the staff overall are OK. Especially the lead service engineer, who is a master and knows everything about Lexus cars. Having said that, this does depend on you, your background, and how you fit with your personality into the business model1 point

I have dealt with many different car manufacturer dealerships over the years, ranging from Porsche to Kia and can honestly say that I haven't noticed any real difference in customer service (good or bad) between any of them - and that includes Lexus. My partner and her daughter both own Kias so I have the "pleasure" of taking each one to Kia for their annual service and I can't say that the service or welcome that I get when I take my car to Lexus is any better than what I experience at Kia. Sure, the waiting areas and the coffee is better at my Lexus dealership but the politeness, knowledge and overall dedication to service from the staff I encounter is the same at Kia (at least for me). My Lexus dealer has never let me down or given me shoddy service but I have never come out of the dealership thinking "Wow! What a difference that was compared to other manufacturers". If Lexus dealerships really do want to stand out from the rest then I think it's the little things that make a difference (and maybe this is what they aspired to in the past, but sadly seem to no longer). For example, I recently had to take my NX to my dealers for a safety recall (so obviously not something that I could decline doing) - with the obvious inconvenience. When I enquired about whether a courtesy car was available I was told there was but I would have to pay a £15 insurance fee. Choosing not to pay this would have resulted in me being liable for a £2,000 insurance excess should the car be involved in an accident whilst in my possession. In light of this, I declined to take the courtesy car and instead chose to walk home after dropping the car off (a 30 minute walk back home and then again to collect it later in the day). I realise that £15 is not a lot of money but it's the principle. Surely for situations such as recalls Lexus could waive this £15 fee. Wouldn't that go some way to "Experience Amazing"? And I can only dream about ever getting a full tank of fuel in situations like this like other owners seem to have received.1 point

I am new to the forum but have had an RX450h for the past 4 years, but lately it had developed an annoying cracking noise at low speed , usually when pulling into the drive. I checked on sites and apparently it was coming from the front air suspension strut. The dealers wanted over £1500 for a new strut as they only sell the item as a full unit, but I found out that down in Gloucestershire a guy called Brian of Orchard Engineering would supply the part on an exchange new for old basis, the part cost me £89 plus £100 deposit which is returnable on him receiving the old part back. The replacement part has now returned my car to the quiet car it used to be, I cannot recommend him highly enough or my local garage who replaced the part for me.1 point
