  1. Well as a pensioner I have never voted Labour but it is comforting to know you think we could be dead in 5-10 years. That's made my day. Must open a bottle this lunchtime to drown my sorrows before they ban it.

  2. Think about this scenario. Widowed pensioner on a modest pension ( state plus tiny PP ). Husband just popped clogs, nice house bought and paid for, nice little 5 yr old Ford focus or fiesta. New income hit loss of 25% discount on council tax ( £400+) , tax on PP at 20% over basic allowance for the first time, loss of £300 WFP, increase in heating cap £170, plus a bit of inflation such as 5 or 10% extra fuel duty etc.. You couldn't make it up, a hit of about £20 per week from a modest income would tip a lot of people like this past the point of no return. It is absolute madness the way this government either do not understand or don't care how ordinary folk manage. Not all pensioners have half a million pound+ houses and gold plated civil service pensions. In all my years I have never seen such an attack on vulnerable people by their supposed government who have the cheek to call themselves "democratic socialist". It's shameful.

  3. Well if you get to 104, I would love to treat you to a bottle of Champagne to celebrate. I would still be a mere youngster of 102. Bet the politicians - Labour in particular- would be upset if we oldies stayed around too long to take all these "benefits" and deprive more worthy causes of cash.

  4. Fairly new here and love the forum, it's a world away from my last experience as a BMW X3 owner where every other post was about faults, failures and "known issues" that plague the models (and mine was no exception)! I'm a photographer and couldn't resist taking the new car out for a shoot. Not sure why and not sure if anyone will find these of interest but I enjoyed it, the car and my new desktop pics! 👍

  5. Hello everyone I've just bought a Lexus UX 250h hatchback Takumi and pick it up on Friday. Absolutely thrilled and think I'm going to love it. 1,700 miles on the clock and in immaculate condition. The whole experience buying from a Dealership has been very positive so far. Have bought the paint and leather protection and getting dash/rear cameras fitted (not sure why but thought it might be a good idea). If anyone could recommend a dog crate to fit the boot or part of the boot that would be very much appreciated and not sure my dog/cream leather seats is a good combination! Looking forward to the hybrid driving experience!

  7. Means testing of the State Pension will be a far more egregious attack on pensions. But just let's temper our vitriol for a moment. Right now most of the speculation is about October that involves retired people. But what if the whole doom and gloom is being deliberately built up such that come October it turns out to be nowhere near? Cheers all round? Bear in mind that the total annual government spend is around 1189 Billion🤯. Before the pay awards the so called "black hole" would be around 13 billion ie not far off 1%. One percent!!! All this nonsense over one percent yet Lucy Powell claims the economy will crash if the WFA is not withdrawn. Why is there no legal process to challenge these miscreants and hold them accountable for their outrageous claims? In every other area of life if I make claims about service or product I can be pursued through the courts for falsehoods, what's different?

  9. It was mentioned on GMB this morning before they interviewed the Minister for Defense, (Healey I think), plus 'others' they added! Today in various News reports it states that the Labour Party intend to give Council's the power to ignore the compulsory 25% discount for single home occupancy that will affect mainly pensioners, the removal of Discounted Railcards for the elderly, service personnel and the disabled and a move to increase the pension age at a faster rate than already stated. All this must show that this government had decided that pensioners are a worthless drag on society and should be punished for leading the country to this point of supposed near bankruptcy (even though the Cabinet are the only group that actually think the UK economy is currently 'bad')! If this shower stay in for 5 years then there is every chance that some of us on here may be in this group without having an actual Lexus to our name as they will soon be saying that Pensioners should not be allowed to drive or even be seen in public! Remember my words - NI on pension payments is just around the corner, NI discount for those workers over pension age will be curtailed and ISA allowance will, at best, never be increased and at worst phased-out.

  10. On the 10th August I gave up reading the Guardian, Mail, the Unherd website and LBC radio. I found that it made me angry, depressed, negative and the rest. Now I look at the guardian front page (mainly as there is no firewall), read the headlines out to my wife and delve briefly into an article if needed. Even in this short time I feel better for it and I have put Jazz, Classic FM, Absolute 80/90s and left on BBC2 on all my digital radios throughout. Again feel better for it. With the Mail (no offence to any Mail readers) you know what you were getting, but the Guardian has become some really self serving and quite at times nasty news site. This has also freed up more time to find a suitable LS400

  12. I can’t remember the exact quote or who said it, but it was along the lines of ‘If you don’t read a newspaper you’ll be uninformed, but if you do read a newspaper you’ll be mis-informed.” I think it has always been like this. Newspapers aren’t just to report the news, they are to report with opinion. Broadly people read newspapers that confirm their own opinions and bias. ‘‘Twas ever thus! When I started at University one of the Professors instructed us (this was 1990) to buy and read the newspaper that we were LEAST likely to agree with. Broadly he noted (another mis-quote coming!) that we should “…read something so we could understand what our opponents were thinking.”

  13. the amount of beeps i get is unbelievable. So far I have gathered the following: over Speed Limit even by 1Mph it beeps. can be turned off but has to be done EVERY time you start the car. Speed Camera: even your not using the Lexus Navigation (or if your in another nav package) Overtaking. if you indicate to overtake and there is a car coming up it beeps. Traffic. although it mostly announces bad traffic but when your in navigation mode. On locking: if you have opened the rear door before a journey but not when you completed it. (thinks you left a child in the back) Windows open when locking Parked too close to something. (so damned handy in a car park at 3am....) I have still not fathomed them all but the ironic thing is this car beeps at absolutely anything yet the indicators are the quietest in the world. i end up having to look to see if they are on rather than just listening out for them

  16. If I put my most cynical head on… - Labour know that many pensioners don’t vote for them, and even those that do will be dead in the next 5-10 years; - I’ve heard Ministers use the phrase ‘for the good of all’ a lot recently. The implication is that, rather than favouring the elderly, they’re on the side of ‘everybody’; - By creating a phoney older vs younger people culture war, they’re hoping to be seen as; - on the side of the young, think planning and house building; - those young people they hope will vote Labour for many more years than the elderly will be able to do. Also worth remembering that very few, if any, of the measures put in place by this Government will be reversed by a future Conservative Government. They’ll simply be able to blame their predecessors as Labour are currently doing…

  19. No worries. In 2024 Labour managed just 9.7 million votes. There are apparently 10 million OAP's plus lord knows how many more about to be OAPS in the next 4 years. Do the math ! If Starmer can't work it out for himself then he is too daft to be put in charge of a bacon slicer nevermind managing the future of a country. Like Forests mama used to say "Life is like a box of chocolates. Greedy people gonna puke eating the lot".

  20. Ok... so the progress so far... We mechanically have GS250 and IS300, all connected-up and bolted back on. Total time for swapping two engines around was ~28 hours. Neither car is driving yet, but that is expected... I have not swapped ECUs, because I did not have time to program them yet and strictly speaking it is not necessary just to confirm that swap is complete, I hoped to make both cars running and driving at least a little bit and only then start swapping and programming ECUs, but it seems I will have to take time to do it before any of them moves on their own power. GS250 started right away, but for some reason can only sometimes drive forward a little bit, I have two theories here - 1. 3GR ECU does not like A960E gearbox (there was code P0705), or 2. when Copart "decontaminated" the car, they have drained the ATF... which is major bummer, because refilling ATF is very complicated task and just ATF alone is few £100s (and I am not exactly inclined to spend £100s on a parts car that I am planning to scrap - if you confused... there were total of 3 engines 2x4GR and 1x3GR, the reason being the 4GR from my IS250 was probably mechanically sound, but had electrical problems and I just had spare 4GR, so it was simpler just to put it into the car rather than transferring all accessories onto faulty engine... and it turns out to be sweet engine, runs smooth, kind of sad it is going into scrapper car), or 3. likely both of those things. IS300 is no crank/no start, little bit disappointed as I expected for it to at very least crank, but in other hand it may be easier as problem is likely to be more obvious in the end. That said none of the codes reported had anything to do with no crank condition which is kind of weird and caused me to leave it for now... I have few theories here... 1. is just coding of the ECU 2. just a bad ECU altogether (car was in limp mode even before the swap) 3. now thinking about it ... I may have put wrong ECU (stupid things happens after wrenching on the car for 12 hours at 11PM), so then it is basically back to #1 - just needs coding 4. it also has same code for gearbox as likely 4GR ECU does not like A760E gearbox. I have not confirmed yet, but there may be electrical difference between them (like pins being other way around despite harness being identical otherwise). 5. I also put different power steering ECU, so that may need to be synced... or 6. I simply just didn't connect something correctly in a rush and being tired, maybe something as stupid as fuse or ground wire somwhere. In short both cars needs a little bit of time "in private" with Techstream and I need to trouble shoot the codes one by one, and also confirm I have not missed anything. So far they have been just thrown together so that they are complete cars with the engines again. Wait that is wrong engine... Ohhh here we go - that is more likely: ...and that is GS250 (the only one mk3 in the world as far as I am aware... so that may be first): Interesting discovery on the exhaust ports in the head, despite internet sources claiming that 4GR and 3GR heads are the same (basically 3GR suppose to have 2GR block bored for smaller cylinders and with 4GR heads), they are clearly different - 3GR clearly as much bigger ports for more power and 4GR is clearly choked for economy. I would assume they are physically interchangeable, but 3GR head must be much better flowing (at least in theory). Interestingly the headers and exhaust is identical, it is only the head ports that are different. Which kind of settles the question of whenever IS250 benefits from aftermarket headers... no it doesn't... I know I may be answering the question that was asked 10 years ago and irrelevant for just as long. 4GR: 3GR (also would say - less carbon build-up despite higher mileage and likely poorer service history): Also I have discovered few small differences, vacuum lines are routed differently, few small components are in different location, nothing really major, but it would be major headache if one got only bare 3GR engine and tried to put it into into IS250. It is not rocket science, one just needs to buy some suitable diameter hoses, but it isn't exactly plug and play. Having both cars side by side really helps a lot and I didn't need to buy any other parts or to make anything custom, because they connect at the same spot on the car, just located in different place on the engine, meaning engine needs to be transferred together with hoses, at least in some cases... except I still need solution for airbox. Basically MAF is different (which is minor thing, but I did not expect that), and connector is different (although I assume electronically compatible, meaning I could just chop the harness and replace connector, but I am not inclined to-do it just yet and have not confirmed that is the case). So far I have just dropped GS300 airbox into IS250, it just barely fits and mounting holes are different... will need to research what is the solution here, maybe I will need to "true" IS300 airbox from states (I would like to have bigger airbox and bigger filter from 3GR), or maybe I can just swap around harness and connect it to IS250 airbox (I think it may be separate harness which can simply be disconnected, will need to confirm). EVAP and Brake booster: MAF (I know they may not look that different, but GS300 MAF connector and sensor itself is almost double the size): Apart of that everything was smooth going most of the time, few rusted bolts were expected and painful, but they are nearly 20 year old cars, would say - powerful saw and grinder would have saved me 4 hours of time (the guy renting the garage lent me battery powered grinder, which did the job eventually), also I guess spending a little bit more on new parts would save time e.g. if I were to go for all new exhaust (which I am planning to do anyway), then I wouldn't have to try to unbolt old rusty exhaust, or put it nicely back to place. In other hand I didn't want to start ordering all brand new parts before knowing it actually works. Obviously, If I didn't have to put 4GR back into GS, it would have taken half the time it did (it was all good, until the point I had to spend 2.5 hours aligning one of subframe bolts). I would say removing the engine is ~8 hours job and putting it back in more like 6, maybe even 9 and 5 respectively. In general - right tools for the job are key... engine crane is only good if you picking the engine up trough the engine bay, it is useless if you dropping it down with the subframe. Whole job could have been done in half time if I had engine table/lift... but that is very specialised tool not many workshops have... i.e. this is the thing you want for cars like IS250 where engines comes out of the bottom: So all things considered - is it possible to do engine swap in the day (as I optimistically estimated)... kind of... if you have all the right tools and you don't run into too much problems (aka rust), and you can afford to cut some parts (like exhaust)... and you just putting the engine in and not swapping the engines between the cars. @Shahpor - the weight... there are loads of caveats, but in short basically the same, car becomes maybe 5-6kg heavier as result of this swap, but I would say my method accuracy is +/-10kg. On the scale it self it says +/- 2% (typical for such scales), so that is like 6kg alone, although one would expect the scale to be consistently off, so if it shows 2 kg less it is likely to do it for both engines and should not impact the comparison, either way - the difference was smaller than the accuracy... there is no way to estimate the amount of junk stuck on the engine and that could easily be a 1kg (generally 3GR looked more dirty, 4GR looked very clean from outside), how would one estimate amount of warmish or carbon build-up in the engine (4GR seemed to have more carbon build-up) - you just can't . Also it is not possible to say how drained is a "drained engine" e.g. I drained all coolant from both, but from time to time the engines would still spit some out, 3GR was leaking ATF trough real seal (that is problem for later), at least a 1L of it, 4GR with A960E had unknown amount of ATF in it, it can't be all drained, but it could be missing something like 1.8L. So those are all unknowns. Also it just happened so that I weighted 3GR with oil and 4GR without it, but that is known quantity so we can account for that. All in all, math works out as such - the hardness and chains to hold the engine on crane weighted 7.75kg, let's call it 8kg - 3GR weighted 275kg (283kg indicated on scales because of all gear holding it) with oil and A760E gearbox, all wiring, headers and all accessories, basically fully assembled running engine + gearbox, without most of the coolant, neither engine had belt, nor A/C pump attached (I chose the keep it on the car so that I don't need to deal with A/C refill or get sprayed with pressurised coolant - you need to take 1 stud with T8 socket to do it)... The 4GR weighted 264kg (again showing +8kg for crane) without oil, but all the rest was the same, and we know there goes 6.3L of oil, I assume ~1L=0.8kg, so 5kg of oil give or take. So with all caveats out of the way we have grand total of 275kg for 3GR/A760E and 269kg for 4GR/A960E or 6kg difference. But we also know that A760E is heavier than A960E and has more ATF in it, so what is that just for the engine alone... can't answer it, maybe 3-4kg, assuming you mount it to weaker A960E gearbox. In grand scheme of things, it will be imperceptible when driving or handling, wouldn't move car balance, not even by 0.5%

  21. Morning all, I must be doing something wrong as nothing comes up on a search of corrosion / rust... Anyway, had the rear end jacked up yesterday so I could un-plug the exhaust valves. Was surprised to see a fair amount of rust on the steel parts. Diff housing, drive shafts, cross member in front of the rear steer rack and any bolts in sight. Anyone noticed similar? My 2005 Mercedes van is cleaner 🥴. Would be really good to rent some time on a car lift and go over it all but tried that a couple of years ago and all the garages quoted insurance reasons when refusing....

  22. £13,750. Lexus LS600hL (LWB) 5.0 litre V8 with hybrid battery, low mileage 83,000 and with the sought after optional RSR pack (Rear Seat Relaxation package) bringing the dedicated four seat configuration including the VIP fully reclining chair with massage function, ceiling mounted TV screen, and rear centre console including cool box / fridge and pop up table. Black exterior with cream leather interior and upholstery and dark wood trim panel inserts, interior is almost like new showing minimal signs of wear and with some of the factory plastic wrap still found on the door sills and the leather tag still attached to the front passenger seat. Alcantara Headlining is good with no sagging material. As you would expect for a Lexus, everything works including all sun blinds, cool box / fridge, heated/cooled seats, massage function, air suspension including height high function, etc. Air con blows cold. Too many features to list but includes: double glazing, soft close doors, sunroof, adaptive cruise control, 4 zone climate control with heated & cooled seats all round, rear TV screen with DVD (also separate DVD player in front), electric seats all round with reclining rear seats, reversing camera, parking sensors, intelligent cornering headlights, built in satnav and Bluetooth for mobile phone connectivity, Mark Levinson sound system. Full Lexus main dealer service history (15 services, car registered Mar-2009), as follows: May-2010. 11,563. Lexus Liverpool Mar-2011. 20,519. Lexus Liverpool Feb-2012. 24,160. Lexus Cardiff Jun-2023. 72,518. Lexus Cardiff Jun-2024. 81,541. Lexus Cardiff Last service June 2024 with FRF Lexus 1,500 miles ago giving it a full bill of health with all checklist items ticked green (see photo’s), and including the all important hybrid health check which passed. Hybrid system works as it should, powering the car in EV mode when operating conditions are met. 2 previous to me owners, with the first owner keeping the car for 11 years. Exterior does show some very minor marks / light scratches in line with age of car but nothing you would notice without really looking for it. Wheels show minimal kerb marks and all four tyres are matching and with majority of tread remaining. The car comes with a clean, 12 month MOT 29/08/25 with no advisory items. Very good MOT history at 15 years old, only 4 advisories in its life – 3 of which in 2016 for worn tyres, and most recent one in 2021 for ball joint dust cover leaking (FRF Lexus Cardiff confirmed that they replaced ball joints in that year). The car has clearly been cared for throughout its life, and there are no warning lights on the dash. Welcome any inspection and can arrange for car to be viewed at local garage with ramps. The car does not suffer with many of the known LS460/600 issues such as brake pedal vibration, brake actuator click, or coolant leaks. The well known VVTi / timing chain tensioner 1 second cold start engine rattle common on Toyota engines has been noticed on only a handful of occasions during my ownership after the car has been sat for long periods, and the engine performs faultlessly, smoothly and silently during all driving conditions. There is an occasional tap coming from front left suspension but after 2 inspections including by Lexus no fault can be identified and have been reassured all safety components are fine (as evidenced by recent MOT), and it does not affect the ride quality. Included in the sale is the private registration plate A17 DPX shown on the car (valued at £ 500), 4 sets of keys (2 standard remote keys plus 2 credit card keys), and both rear headphone sets which still have their original boxes. Full owners manual pack in leather wallet is present along with servicebook and a number of invoices for works done, plus Lexus price list and LS model sales brochure for the 2009 model year. Regularly achieve 26-28mpg over an average tank of fuel and see 34mpg on long runs – pretty good for a 440bhp 5.0 V8 and the performance of a V12! (Lexus named it LS600 to signify the bhp an equivalent V12 would give). Being a 2009 model it is a pre-2012 facelift example without the undesirable central trackpad but still has several 12v ports (useful for usb charging), aux and video input in both front and rear. I bought the car for a Germany road trip which it covered in great comfort and style, and to experience a true luxury saloon as part of my car collection for a few months. Now for sale after enjoying the car for 12 months, due to growing family needs meaning the car is no longer practical, and wanting to try something new as my next daily driver. As a future collectors piece the car is far too good to be used as a daily driver for a young family, and with a little effort it would be show condition. Amazing value for money considering the amount of car you get for this price – less than 10% of the original list price. Only a few hundred of these limousines were sold in the UK and they don’t come up for sale in this spec or condition very often. This example has covered an average of less than 6k miles yearly since new, and is without doubt one of the best available – at time of advertising there is only one other in similar RSR spec for sale with higher mileage and part service history at £ 12,000, and one without the RSR option but lower mileage for £ 16,000. This is a private sale of my own car but you can view a youtube walkaround video of the car from the dealer i bought it from last year using this link: Car is located in south wales.

  24. here in Iceland all Lexus and Toyota get underbody rust protection and to keep the through body 12 year rusting warranty then recoating min every third year. my IS 2017" just got his third rustproofing... the first one from the dealer was underbody only but the other to were full rustproofing. But there is the small letters... that say this is not valid for non reachable places like where there is plastic covers and like the sound....... dampening inner fender there is no proofing. I did one inner wheel Right rear and I thought I had some pic of it but I only got one and that was before I took it down.. I also wanted to sound insulate better from tire noise. The easiest way to check for underbody rust is to put your camera under the car (about 10 pic). I always do that when inspecting a car. My plan for this winter is to take ALL plastic covers and rust proof under them. Here is a pic from my rear wheel well.. sorry my English is not my first language, I could post here more pictures even if the car is not raised if someone wants. Behind this cover was no rust proofing not even wax.

  26. I've just come across this on one of the FB pages with Jap cars for sale.. 191,000 miles is crazy amount for a car like this! It's great to see someone's been actually enjoying their RCF. Wonder if the previous owner(s) is on this forum. The car is listed for £17k although people were saying that the exact car was listed on Lexus website for £15k a few weeks ago.. Perhaps he bought it thinking he can quickly flip it for a bit of profit.. Questionable decision making in my opinion. People just don't buy cars like this with such mileage for this amount of money. Going to take some time to sell.. I'd personally just enjoy the car.. I'd be interested to find out if there was anything other than normal service items that needed replacing.

  28. This is incorrect. The petrol engine running and the charge state of the 12v battery are unconnected. The petrol engine runs to charge up the hybrid/traction battery and will shut down as soon as it has sufficient charge (and the engine has reached a safe operating temperature). The 12v battery is charged by the hybrid system once in Ready mode. It charges at a relatively low current so, depending on state of charge, you would need 60+ minutes to charge it up.

  31. When mine was done a couple of years a go I sourced my parts in the middle east they came in genuine Lexus parts at half the price of Lexus UK and that was with the shipping and taxes. there are several sites based in the UAE just google that area . As for getting a competent mechanic that can be a bit tricky.

  32. This is where we get to when those in power get high wages then massive pensions after a brief period in post. Complete loss of empathy for the less well-off as they have no understanding how 'real' people live and the price of anything is of no concern as there is always money in the pot. Strangely I thought the Tories were the evil doers that hated the lower classes but oh, how the tables have turned.

  33. Funny enough, this was the point at which I decided to sell my RC - since covid I started mostly working from home and not driving much, to the point where I started worrying that my 12V battery may go flat, had to go to the car to start it every other week and realised that if I am having to do this, then I don't need the car. I was about to start mocking people for not reading user manuals (I wonder why Lexus even bothers to print them in such good quality), but I do realise it is not your car and you just trying to help. Just saying - the starting point here should have been user manual. You did good job turning all the way to page 334 to find correct terminals for jump starting the car. They would also work for trickle charging, simple reason why the car even has these points is to prevent people from jumping the car backwards and blowing whole electrical system... so they simply provided different connection points that have fuses on them, but positive still goes to positive and negative still goes to negative, so not only they are safe, but they are preferable for this use. Now second part is the one which I don't believe is explained sufficiently in user manual. All Lexus Hybrids have what is called "READY" mode/status, basically when you get into normal auto, you press the brake and start button and car starts idling in P position. In hybrid with CVT, the engine may not necessarily start, but it will simply state "READY" on the dash and engine will remain off, but you can drive off on EV mode, or engine may eventually start if you switch on air-conditioning or heating, or create other conditions that may need engine to be on. However, what manual does not say (at least I was not able to find it) what those conditions are. One of them is charge level of 12V battery, meaning that to maintain 12V battery one simply needs to get into the car, press brake, press start button and wait for "READY" to appear on the dash. Once it is there, that means car did all checks necessary including, making sure that 12V battery is charged. If it is not charge the engine will start itself, no need to put it into D and rev the engine like Dealer suggested. I am not sure if revving the engine speeds-up charging of "traction" battery, but it certainly charges 12V battery. For that I don't even need user manual - hybrids still have normal engine, with normal alternator, so if engine is running, then 12V battery is charging. Again the only issue here - hybrid engines may not start right away, hence it is important to check that "READY" symbol on the dash... but as long as it is displayed... car doesn't need anything else, all the systems are optimal and batteries are charged sufficiently to stay healthy. What that "sufficient" means is questionable, but I would say 1 week - 2 weeks should be safe. In short - he does not need to sit there revving the engine and charging traction battery to full, traction battery doesn't even meant to be full, it still has to have some capacity left for regen braking etc. I am sure that it meets and exceeds the time required to charge the 12V battery, but it isn't even necessary, he only need to to press Brake + Start and then leave the car for few minutes until it shows "READY" on the dash, the engine may start by itself and that is normal.

  34. Best of luck finding one. It's a great platform and the fun gets better the more serious you get with the modifications (obviously that's not everyone's preferred route, it is however mine lol). Bar a slight hiccup this week, purely down to my own lack of research, my car is incredibly competitive with today's market of newer cars (it's also a bit louder and harsher lol). Enjoy the hunt for your ISF and the collection day when it comes. I travelled to Aberdeenshire for mine from Cambridge on the train. Stayed the night in Aberdeen (I didn't sleep a wink), then collected her and drover her the 9 hours back home. A fantastic memory!

  36. I thought so too. I do drive gently. I heard the battery cooling fans ramping up (not sure why since I was cruising at 60 mph) on the M6 in Cumbria a few hours back and sure enough the old girl cut out. After coasting to a stop and removing the 12v negative post for a minute or so we were off once more for another uneventful run home. I am looking forward to getting the new fans in after my vacation next week.

  37. Yes that's about correct. The remaining capacity held by the hybrid battery is basically for use when the car is running in hv mode.

  39. The bluetooth adapter I have uses the CD function to work so you can’t have a CD playing at the same time but you might do with a cassettes but I don’t know as I haven’t used them for years. I stream music directly from my phone. If your speakers don’t need refoaming the sound will be great. Often the 6 x 9 speakers in the doors need refoaming for which you can buy a kit from the USA quite cheaply and it is fairly easy to do. You will know if that is the case as the sound will be terrible. You can refoam all the speakers if necessary. People don’t tend to go the main dealers now due to cost and age of the cars. They are quite rare so the average Lexus mechanic won’t have had much experience of the SC especially if they are young so will have to rely on the Techstream system. A good independent Toyota dealer will be the best alternative and will probably use the same system and be cheaper. Personally a good friend of mine runs his own small garage and he is very experienced and can repair just about any make of car. Most small garages now have electronic diagnostic readers for all makes and at the end of the day most cars are very similar to work on if you know what you are doing.

  40. Have you read the consumer rights act 2015? The Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you the right to ask for a full refund in the first 30 days after buying any product that proves to be faulty, including a new or used car. The law also provides protection for servicing and repair work that renders your car faulty.

  41. I think the first step would be to inform the dealer principal in writing that you are rejecting the car and listing the defects.

  42. Has Glyn has said not fitted as standard. I had a parrot one fitted in my previous 2003 vehicle and that worked well. No idea if the Amazon type cheapies that plug into the ciggy lighter work, other options would be replacement audio head unit with Bluetooth and reverse camera 👍🏻

  43. So there you are. Commendations galore Parts are likely to be available ad infinitum with some “ out of the box “ thinking ……… especially as they sold hundreds of thousands of the Ls models in the USA My experience over the years has been that Amayama had my needs in stock at about 50% of Main Dealer costs ……. and longevity of the replacements extend the car usage by another lifetime ……. tens of thousands of miles or even more 🤞 Keep us posted please and Good luck finding the right one Malc

  44. I too echo your sentiments Ed, perhaps it’s an age thing, where we acknowledge and appreciate the build quality of the RX4, which I have described as a ‘ Gentleman’s club ‘ after a recent days test drive in the RZ, as nice a vehicle as it was, not a proper Lexus, and more like a ‘ discotheque’ Now there an age thing, do they still have discotheques, 🤔, just going to put my slippers on 😂🤣.
