I have just changed from an Is300h that I have had for over 10 years to a UX fsport. My initial worries were, boot was too small, run flat tyre noise too loud so I was a bit nervous about changing. I have had the car for a few days now and have got over the fact I will have to drop the seats to get my golf clubs and trolley in. The run flat Dunlop tyres are quite good not as noisy as I thought not much difference from my Michelin ps 5s on my IS. It has all the get up and go that I need. Coming from the IS the major thing has been all the technology on the car, it has taken me a few days to be happy with my set up but I’ve got there I think. All the new stuff, lane guidance assist and speed warnings etc can be turned off or visual only so that’s ok. All in all I am very pleased with it and also for the 50+ mpg I have just had on my first 60 mile run.2 points

Yeah. He plays golf all the time so it’s a pretty big oversight on his part. I feel the same way about people complaining about space. I don’t carry rear passengers very often so the front is the priority but the LBX is too small in the rear if you carry adults around a lot. Its about what you use the car for.2 points

I don't understand why people buy a car knowing that the boot is relatively small and then complain that they can't fit certain items inside.2 points

Yellow with black roof. Sable/IS Black trim. Love it. OAP almost 80, so DO NOT be put off Yellow, although the black roof sets it off.2 points

If the lighting stalk on the steering column is set to 'Auto' then surely the change from day to night mode should happen automatically?2 points

My 2004 Celsior (aka LS430) has the pull up window blinds fitted and a common failure is the plastic screw posts break and the hooks fall off. The hooks are attached to the “garnish” or trim and although they can be removed the hooks cannot be purchased individually, you have to buy the complete trim part at around £100.00 a side. Having 2 broken hooks I decided to try and repair them myself. I got some slightly longer fixing screws to reach the remains of the screw posts, loosely fitted the screws then filled the hollow section with epoxy resin flush to the top. Left overnight I removed the screws ( the epoxy had shaped around the screw threads) and refitted them to the trim. They haven’t fell off yet! Note the small patch of felt on the hook to prevent rattling, Lexus quality 😀2 points

I have a small compressor so no trouble refitting back on the rim, no balance needed as tyre as not changed its position on the rim .2 points

Wheels are 17” (lowest two trims) or 18” (majority of the LBX range). 18” is same size as NX starts on, but, LBX wheel sizes comparable with similar Yaris Cross (16”, 17”, 18” depending on grade). Mini cars have 17” and 18” options. So I’d say illusion - they are big but so are most other cars!2 points

Just another point about the Hive app. After 3 years they will start charging you a monthly fee to access the data from the charger. Obviously I wont be paying this as it would be pointless. I've noticed on the heating app as well- which I have had for many years- they have a new updated app launching and it seems they also want to charge a monthly fee for data of that as well. Just another way these companies want to screw you.2 points

This often starts when somebody realigns by adjusting just one side instead of both equally.2 points

Wonderful news - that’s exactly the brief the designers were given. Glad they delivered.2 points

I went through Confused and ended up with Aviva. I changed from Privilege and saved £300 😀1 point

Give Aviva a try. Were competitive when I had my NX and I continue to use them for my RX.1 point

The sensors I bought from lexuspartsdirect were fitted with seals and valve stems just not with the washers and nuts. When I had the wheels refurbed I had new tpms fitted and should have got the the fitting kits as well because the nuts looked older, newer ones would have looked better.1 point

Sadly got my second key 6 months ago and was told then that the bolts were not available. I will wait and see if they call me or will I have to call. Just looking for a bit more service for the price.1 point

NFU. With the car being MY24 it should have the latest security package and NFU do follow Thatcham standards. We found them very competitive on our NX450h+ Takumi and they have an excellent reputation plus an excellent telephone quote. We actually got a rebate when we changed from a RAV4 🙂1 point

Hi Herbie, Thank you very much for the Lexus procedure to bleed front brakes. It seems far to complicated for me, scares the s**t out me really, don't have tech stream anyway. I think now it will entail having the job done at Lexus. I have a price from them of £415, about twice price of discs and pads. Thanks again for your help.1 point

I haven't purchased these myself. But am pretty sure they come with everything. This other listing of the same part no seems to indicate it comes with 1 set of the valve and fitting nut https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265348809443?epid=18051064779&itmmeta=01J273MWBJ80T0W5PH3R7ETENC&hash=item3dc80582e3:g:ztoAAOSwf0hlhGAM&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwEoF%2FmHzGN09HmCXeCxxgStF9oqZl7S8YOit0wK7p0qrr0aY3XLfe7s0Yb%2FtJ%2B%2BlrDfLnlHWtYnChCKvSQh0MFLZ0KUPlt2GB6YBz5XsjKWxWmMsXbz%2BOySxnc3%2FAUyI952x%2FSP0Nl%2BGcj0ADi5E25UWMft3jID9Rcy8EuOI8Nx1gVqoMT22M9tMT5Bbo4m4wj7f3xoyW0HGkIx3IPMeKGRJEftvJMYU2ycgJ0XaWakivxEitXVIkBbR3rZdOKM%2Bvg%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR-7F0-ORZA Even if they dont the tyre shop should be able to supply the air valve you linked in the listing and youcould potentially just use the old nut. When i changed my tyres they included the valve in the price i.e if you're not changing your sensors the tyre shop will still replace the valve when fitting new tyres. So they definitely stock those and they are universal. As far as part nos go. The 4 pack in the ebay link is the exact same part no as the one on Lexuspartsdirect. So i asusme its the correct one. Also imagery from the above ebay listing in this reply seems to match the 4 pack. Though its different from lexus parts direct. So i assume they've updated the design now and imagery on LPD is older. https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-is-phase-3-tyre-pressure-monitoring-sensor/1 point

What I can answer is I suspect a new sensor should come with the fitting kit. I bought two of those kits for mine as the lock nut got damaged on the way off.….and new sensors are the guarantee it’s going to work first time …..I just like a challenge 😉1 point

Added the SC430Mods backup camera kit to my "new" SC430 today. Spent more time on the video and FB information than the installation- works right out of the box as a straight backup camera with the old working DVD nav. Given the nav screen, it is serviceable- but probably not my longer term plans. Perhaps with some more fiddling with the camera controls I can improve it. Will probably replace the entire stock radio unit and add front camera to get my Android Auto functionality back- the FB solutions look a bit too complex for me and it's hard to know what is the latest solution. At least watching videos for an afternoon gave me ideas on tracking the camera wire back from the dash to the rear camera. No new information here- but at least a recent install for reassurance.1 point

To be fair I think maintenance plays a big part in keeping these sliding callipers in good fettle, but I still fail to see why Lexus servicing fail to remove and re grease the slide pins apart from a financial standpoint. When I purchased my 1994 Celsior back in 2006 the brake service was one of the first jobs I did. Sure enough 2 of the rear calliper pins were partially seized and after removal were also pitted. I replaced all slider 4 pins including the rubber bands and the concertina seals using Red Rubber Grease on the pins. I also cleaned the slider pin holes on the bracket using cotton buds and isopropyl alcohol. Every year I removed the pins during servicing and re-greased them. I had the car for 16 years and never had a seized calliper.1 point

The facelift IS uses CAN bus controlled headlights - you would need to modify wiring and replace the main body ECU at a minimum and probably other things too. Probably cheaper to sell your vehicle and purchase a 2017 one.1 point

Lots of bad advise on YouTube on how to pop a tyre of the outer rim, i opted for a method using the cars scissor jack and a length of timber. The photo I showed above ,once popped of the outer rim a few blocks of wood to keep the tyre away from the sensor. Side note…no garage is going to use this option as it’s time consuming and no guarantee it will work. My plan B was just to go to Lexus 😮1 point

It’s all crystal ball stuff, but I don’t think practicality will have any impact. People looking at the LC have never worried about practicality. Anyway, it really isn’t that bad, on a short trip I even got a 6ft mate in the back. If you compare the LC to other cars in its class, I think depreciation is favourable e.g. BMW 8 series. Even die hard German fans seem to favour the LC over the likes of the 8. Finally, unlike Lexus F cars, the LC is recognised by the wider public as being a very sexy car. Drive an ISF,RCF or GSF down the road and few people (other than use lot) would ever notice. An LC on the other hand really does turn heads. As an example, when a Lamborghini driver flags you down to talk, you know the car is special! So, like I said, crystal ball, but I wouldn’t write them off.1 point

The remote parking using the app doesn’t seem to be working in the UK yet, or if it is it’s nowhere on the app. The self parking that you use pushing the button inside works extremely well tbh, but I don’t know when I would ever use it. I’ve only driven the car at night once due to the time of the year, and that was in town. The headlights were impressive as it kept the left beam on when traffic was coming but dipped the right. Worked perfectly. My LBX also has the cornering lights which are separate from the fog lights and angled outwards, these were really useful pulling into the drive etc as the light went out to the sides.1 point

I had a lot of similar issues with the app but it seems to be behaving itself lately. TBH the charger always provides power regardless of the state of the app so I regularly charge my car without any reference to the app. If I wanted to schedule charging times I use the in-car scheduling facility.1 point

I would think all that ..back in 2017 I let Lexus change one sensor at £120.00 so guess prices would be considerably more now . I get great satisfaction fixing things myself .1 point

Yes, which includes most of Wales! @ Linus....the UK may have adopted or retained some EU rulings, and whilst I agree with your sentiments, as a car market, the UK simply does not have the buying power to persuade any major manufacturer to produce a one off for us where their standard safety systems are concerned. We get what the EU gets because that's the only sensible economic decision for Lexus. As regards excuses for speeding, strictly speaking, a medical emergency doesn't give legal exception to posted limits but can be used in mitigation IF it goes to court. With proof, it's highly unlikely you'd be prosecuted unless the manner of your driving could be shown to be dangerous or without due care and consideration of other road users. Speeding, per-se, is not inherently dangerous. Lack of driving ability, or driving without due care both put yourselves and other road users at risk, so it's caveated by "If in a medical emergency you need to push past posted limits, take care and if you decide to, do so well within your ability as a driver, considering the safety of others". However, it would have to be proved it was a time critical emergency that could have serious consequences if not arriving at a hospital in time. I only ever had recourse to this once in my life, many years ago, when an ambulance was called for a chap sharing a commercial workshop I was working in managed to introduce his hand to a 14" table saw and lost some fingers leaving splintered bones sticking from his hand. He was in shock and bleeding out badly. An ambulance was called then cancelled after 20 minutes as it was diverted to a cardiac arrest victim. On balance of risk, I helped the unfortunate chap into my car, strapped him in after bandaging up his arm and drove as quickly as safe to, to the nearest A&E. He later told me that saved his life as even a few minutes more could have proved fatal. I had a good reason, drove within my limits, drove safely but yes, had to exceed the limits a few times to get there on time. It took hours to clean up the inside of my car which was covered in blood. I did not attempt any dangerous overtakes nor shoot junctions or traffic lights but kept it sensible and safe. I never speed when on blood bike duty as we simply do not have that exception, even as advanced riders. We usually have enough time to get time critical drops done without recourse to putting ourselves or others at risk but a bike is easier to filter through queues if safe and legal to do so.1 point

Yes they're genuine. The part nos are the same + they're made by the same company (pacific industial co). Perhaps toyota sells them cheaper for their budget cars. I have never used techstream but im pretty sure you can indeed program them using techstream if the shop cant do it.1 point

Hi Ian, totally agree. Best not to leave the car standing for long periods and not being driven to ensure the battery is charged either while driving or letting the traction battery charge the 12v battery while the car is in "ready" mode1 point

When I took delivery of my NX450h I had serious reservations regarding the run flat tyres however having suffered a puncture on the motorway the benefits of such tyres became obvious. Yes they are expensive and rarely repairable but I would have no concern with them in the future. Unfortunately they were not an option when I changed to the RX.1 point

I did encounter the numerous recalls, including fuel filler flap and winter door handle issues when I had my NX450h and annoying as these issues were (and I did have a wobble at one point!) the professional way they were dealt with by Lexus UK and in particular Lexus Edinburgh was simply exemplary. How problems are resolved are a measure of how great an organisation is and in my experience Lexus have proved their worth.1 point

I'm sure they didn't. I was just giving my experience for the benefit of reason and balance.1 point

I think you'll find that Auto Express didn't encounter any of those issues during their test either.1 point

Your query has got me thinking Trying to find the exterior main paint code for my 91 Ls400 and really difficult BUT hunting thru' all the paperwork with the car I found it handwritten, specified in the Original Lexus Service Book handed down with the car Flint Grey Pearl code no. 180 for me If you have the old paperwork then it might be there somewhere Good hunting Malc1 point

I’m extremely curious about potential alternatives too. I love mine but I’m not using it very much since I had a second child, for instance it’s sat there since Wednesday and we used the family car all weekend. I’m under some domestic pressure to relinquish it, or consolidate both into one car that accommodates family and fun.0 points
