If one has failed it is likely that the others are of a similar age meaning theyre on their way out as well. My recommendation would be replace all 4 sensors when changing your tyres. You can buy the sensors yourself on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314744520503 Its much cheaper than lexus charging £70+ per sensor. Then most reputable tyre shops should be able to fit and program it for you when you change your tyres. Perhaps just google tyre shops near you can find the ones with the most positive reviews. Call them before scheduling an appointment to check if they can program new original tpms sensors that you will be supplying.3 points

I would think all that ..back in 2017 I let Lexus change one sensor at £120.00 so guess prices would be considerably more now . I get great satisfaction fixing things myself .2 points

I remember watching a YT video of someone breaking open a TPMS valve to replace the battery….and there was nothing simple about it! As I recall…once you managed to break open the valve, it revealed that the battery itself was wired in and encased in a thick, white gunge- the purpose of which was to insulate the battery and valve interior from road shocks and moisture.. Considering that you wouldn’t know if you’d been successful until you’d refitted the valve and tyre - at which point you might end up buying a replacement anyway - I suddenly remembered some drying paint that I had to go and watch! But don’t let me put anyone off!2 points

It's an objectionable interference by the EU but sadly one we have to live with. There'll always be the very occasional circumstance whereby during what is judged to be a safe overtake, within posted limits, the clown you're overtaking decides that he/she doesn't want to be overtaken, and will speed up. In such circumstances (with my advanced instructor's hat on) the way that is safely dealt with is to slow down and resume a safe position behind them, but what if a car intending as you are wishes to join the overtake and cuts the safety space? You have to plan for these incidences and try and manage the rear space by allowing sufficient room but there will always be an occasion where you'll end up compromised. The only safe way is not to overtake if there's any doubt or perceivable risk. As for motorways, I see no excuse for three figure speeds. If there's lorries ahead overtaking lorries and traffic builds up, sometimes the safest option is if towards the head of such a queue, to overtake the bunch rapidly to clear the hazard. If 70 allows this, then that will be fine with ISA. For those accepting the risks, you have the ability to turn it off at that point, or accelerate past the nanny limiter at the risk of your licence and once clear, slow back to your cruising speed. Not condoning it, but just pointing out that whatever the circumstance, it's about hazard perception and planning to make smooth progress. Many of these low carbon initiatives, such as the mandatory 60 limits on the M5 through Birmingham are a nonsense as they probably have the opposite effect, but such areas are usually where traffic is dense, so a little restraint is called for. I dread motorway driving these days (due to the appalling driving standards on show and lack of patience) but one thing that does work well are variable limits preventing sudden bunching up. Lexus have to follow the construction and use Regs for the EU and as such we just have to learn to live with the consequences and become more thinking drivers. Motorcycles don't yet have these features but that's a matter of time. For my sins, I ride for Blood Bikes and we have no exceptions to exceed statutory limits, even on emergency runs but we are trained to make safe, smooth and rapid progress within posted limits.2 points

The consumption displayed in the car and on the app will be the combined ev/hv figure. When in hv mode I have found there will be both a reduction in total ev range when the ev power takes over from the ice and an occasional increase through regeneration depending on road conditions. My 50+mpg journey was entirely in hv mode (and with E5 petrol) and the ev range only fluctuated by 2 miles over the entire journey. As you say a long journey in the RX is so comfortable! Did an exclusive ev journey yesterday involving motorway and city driving achieving 49.5 miles before the ice cut in.2 points

Still no update, despite the "we should hear in two weeks time" message I received three weeks ago 🙄 To rub salt in, the would be thieves I noticed have dented the mid point of my nearside rear door top chrome trim. "No problem" I mused, "...it's probably a £20 strip of chrome taking minutes to replace...". Lexus quoted me £253 to replace it, including an hour's labour at £195! They're slowly but surely alienating any loyal customers remaining in the UK. I've seen this sort of arrogance in pricing at premium levels before and it never works out well for those doing it. When will they learn? I'd rather not be paying for swish dealerships, fancy coffee, VIP days and the Christmas bubbly thanks all the same Lexus. I'd rather walk into a wooden hut with instant decaf and some stools if it meant customers got car care needs at reasonable real world pricing. To coin a few lyrics "It don't impress me much"! Now, had they addressed the canbus scandal sooner and more effectively, I'd not have minded as much but this is the last straw for me, and the last Lexus I'll buy.1 point

One more hour of steaming the passenger seat brought no further improvement so I will move along to the next stage involving flexible filler and 1200 grade wet and dry sanding paper. Not today, but I will post pics up when the opportunity arises.1 point

One speed limit I find pretty stupid living in a rural area, single track twisty road with high hedges on both sides (basically a farm track), max safe speed is around 20mph, but they put up national speed limit signs everywhere.1 point

I don't advocate speeding but there are some circumstances where it is appropriate. Road rage incident and you need to get away from some lunatic. Passenger with an emergency medical condition.1 point

I would imagine just because the tracking and alignment is in spec does not necessarily mean the wheel is centered. The starting point should be centre the wheel and then make any adjustments to the tracking / alignment.1 point

The answer to this 1984ism is how easy the manufacturer makes it to turn off every time. My car has stop/start that always kicks in but I can turn it off simply with one press of an easily located button. Maybe the same will apply to speed limitation? It's a bit of a faff every time you start the car though = foot on brake - press start - press map button to get map on full screen - press stop/start to turn off that feature-Foot on brake again to select drive/reverse and .......off we go...... Maybe we should change the name to Nannylexus? To add insult to injury in Wigan tomorrow the council are adopting a pie limiter to prevent the locals eating too many pies in one go.1 point

Update: I'm pleased to say I now have a working rear washer.... I decided as I was going to investigate anyway, I took a chance and bought a second hand OEM washer pump from ebay for the grand total of £8.00 inc. P+P, I was assured it was working from the seller. The wheel arch liners/clips were a bit of a faff but I removed enough to gain access to the pumps, the rear pump motor is on the left looking in from the wheel arch. Drained the fluid and removed the pump etc and cleaned everything up then fitted the replacement and topped up the fluid. For a cheap, second hand pump I wasn't expecting much but to my surprise it actually works, so for £8.00 and a bit of effort I've learnt something new and fixed the issue.............and saved rather a lot of money! A word of advice, you will almost certainly need some spare trim fixings👍1 point

Check your part number. You can get the originals much cheaper on ebay. Here is an example for a set of 4 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3147445205031 point

Speaking from personal experience; they will fine you on the spot. If you have no cash they will take you to an ATM If you still cannot pay they will take you to the police station and keep your car until you pay. However, it depends on the cop and some can be quite understanding and deal with the offence nicely. Jump a traffic control and you may be shot at and killed ( check the French news ). 50kph over the limit and they will immediately confiscate your driving licence. Apart from all that they can be very fair, but do not disrespect the cops in France - they bite.😬1 point

Ah, Malc, how freely and and willing you are to spend other people's money, 35%, 35%🤯. What a precedent that will set! And it's not just lexus owners, it's all car owners, house owners, savings and pension owners. When the latter is liquified to fund extravagant ideology welcome to another variant of PPI.1 point

We bought the NX in the end and whilst I'm generally happy with it, it lacks the turn of speed that the newer engined IS300H's have - and, as I found out this weekend, the new RAV4. I'm in Norway on business and hired a RAV4 for a long weekend and I wonder whether I might have overlooked something here? Of course, it is nowhere near as luxurious, but has more headroom, legroom, passenger room and luggage space - apparently on the same chassis? I haven't checked the fuel consumption yet, but am pleasantly surprised with my hire car. As it comes in considerably cheaper I'd certainly consider it when it comes to a change.....1 point

Its because most of the world is moving to SUVs and crossovers. While they are relatively more expensive to run they are more practical for daily family life. They also end up being more comfortable. The demand for sedans is very limited in todays market with mostly people looking for a sportier edge going with them and even those people mainly buy a german brand. Which is why even lexus have only 1 sedan offering and they even changed their entry level car from the CT to the LBX and previously the UX all crossovers. I have an IS300H and as my kid grows and i turn older i keep finding it harder to get her into the car seat because of how low the car is. I suspect i will need to start looking at buying an NX soon too. Im just a bit worried about all the lexus thefts that have been going on lately. Hopefully there will be a solution soon.1 point

Interesting David. I had not thought of looking at mpg on the Lexus Link+ app, but this week I did several trips with a fully depleted traction battery and the app gave me the following mpg figures: 11 miles on local roads 49.7 mpg 3 m on local roads 46.2 mpg 4 m on local roads 48.3 mpg 69 m on motorway at 70 mph 41.1 mpg My previous claim of 51 mpg was the dashboard indicated figure of HV taken over a period of about 8 days, with a depleted traction battery, on local roads, but not sure of the mileage done. The next experiment is to switch to E5 fuel instead of E10! Tom1 point

Absolutely delighted with my new NX 350h - no problems at all and the car thoroughly deserves this accolade.1 point

I'd have bought a new one without a shadow of doubt - mine is now coming up to 10 years old and 150k miles (purchased at 2 years old and 40k miles) - will keep it going now as long as it's economical to do so. Have a rear brake running a bit warm at the moment so will need to get this seen to - could mean a new caliper. Lexus have missed out on probably two new cars from me by not continuing the IS in the UK anymore...1 point

The IS was a great motor for us. Not too big and marvellous to manoeuvre. I have had several ES’s since. I miss the IS. Why oh why did Lexus discontinue it? As I have mentioned on previous posts., if only they made an IS with the comfort and refinement of the ES. Audi, Merc and BMW produce a mid sized saloon. I don’t want to be like the herd and end up in a SUV. My sciatica might disagree mind.1 point

Yes. Should be on all new models. I have it on my 4th gen. It basically raises alerts, with the posted speed limit showing on the HUD, which turns red if you exceed the S/l, but also triggers an annoying alarm bell, which thankfully can be toggled off in the menus. The EU are introducing mandatory limiters in all new cars which physically limit speeds using RSA cameras together with GPS, but defeatable within the menu system, so you can exceed the limits at your own risk. Personally, I think there's far too much interference in personal freedoms and whilst I'm not condoning speeding, I strongly object to the one state EU trampling personal freedoms as whatever is bound over within the EU gets bound over here too in relation to motoring and car manufacturing requirements.1 point

We have been very fortunate in our time frame. Basically had yet another problem with our 2016 Audi A6 but this time it required a new DPF so finally had enough and got rid on the Sunday. German reliability is really dropping and costly to fix! So on the Monday test drove a Yaris Cross GR. Liked it but not impressed by the cabin. Tuesday saw a What Car review of the LBX (First time I’d seen one). Wednesday after several reviews and internet hunting later purchased a Premium Plus Design (black roof yellow body) over the phone from Lexus Cardiff. Friday morning spent 4 hrs on a train to Cardiff where I was picked up by the dealer and taken to collect the car. First time I’ve bought a car without having ever seen one in the flesh but with the Yaris test drive I knew it was only going to be better. So my first drive was a 4 hour stint back home to the midlands. It’s our first Lexus and I’m very impressed. It is very well appointed and far superior to the Yaris as you would expect. Loving the “Hey Lexus” voice commands for example to control the windows or temperature (Hey Lexus, it’s too hot - turns the air con on!). The car is for my wife and she thoroughly loves it. Had it just over a week now and no complaints. We do like to do a few weeks driving around Europe for holidays and might consider something a little bigger with a softer ride when we swap our other car. I appreciate we were lucky to hear about the model on a Tuesday and pick a brand new one up on the Friday. Must also say we have had excellent service from Lexus Cardiff.1 point

Well, gave it a good go but couldn't quite get one dimple out on the ridge. Shame. But I've found someone selling one that needs respraying. If anyone ever wants to know the part number and have a similar issue it's 75850-33170 (exactly the same part that goes on the Camry)1 point

Both great cars but personally I would opt for the NX Takumi. I have enjoyed owning both a NX300h and a 450h+. I think it's an ideally proportioned car for manoeuvrability considering today's crowded roads and now owning a RX450h+ I appreciate this all the more!1 point

I have been the victim of the CAN BUS theft 4 times in the past 18 months, while living in North London. Thieves stole the first ES and then i installed the GHOST II immobiliser in the second one. After that they tried to steal it 3 more times, each time causing damage to the front bumper, lights and electrics which takes time and money to repair. Since Lexus UK has so far not been willing or able to solve this problem, the next step i took was to fit the bracket over the CAN BUS entry point next to the front left light. My non-Lexus repair shop has ordered the part for the RX, which fits in perfectly in an ES. It takes a few hours to install and now hopefully the car is safe!0 points
