  1. The real issue here is that the car market is changing rapidly. A- segment cars are disappearing as manufacturers are taking them out of the market. The Ford Ka, C1, Aygo, etc. Then prices have doubled/tripled for new cars. Thirdly the younger generation sees cars as a commodity, something that brings you from A to B. For them it does not represent status nor a feeling of freedom as it did when i was 18. They are not prepared to spend 30/40k for a car that looses value the day you own it. Enter subscriptions like mobile phones. Volvo has over 30% on subscriptionbase now. Hire a car and dump it when you dont need it anymore. Where does that leave the enthusiast cars? the V8 etc? Well maybe just maybe in 10/20 years the owners will be seen upon as todays owners of fine horses. For Lexus it will remain a niche market, small and smaller so i do not expect values to increase. Other top brands like Ferrari etc are producing luxury products, status symbols like LV, Patek etc. Lexus is nowhere near. If you own a Lexus V8 and can afford to keep it do not sell. Keep it even if you dont drive it. Store it as you will be very very sorry in the future you sold it. As a famous person once said "you have to recognize it to see it".

  2. Google ‘LC500 future classic’ and there’s a lot of views that it could be. It’ll soar in value in years to come… just after my executors sell mine probably.

  3. I’ve owned both late and early examples, my concerns now are the early cars can be very corroded underneath, this can lead onto rusting to abs reluctor rings on the rear hubs . For me this time around I went as young as I could afford within my budget, now have a mid 2007 with 59k on the clock. I’ve cleaned and painted all the suspension….clearly I don’t get out much ! 😁😁

  4. At times I think that older cars were built to last. We had a 2010 Audi with 100,000 miles which still had the original suspension and brake discs. It was a great car 😀 Hopefully my NX is similar 😀😀

  5. Off-topic but related…my home buildings and contents insurance renewal arrived this week, and it had increased THREE FOLD! I’ve been with LV for years without a single claim and nothing has changed year over year. Assuming a mistake I called them, to be told that ‘risk levels’ determined prices, and that ‘…insurance prices are reflective of those risks.’ They wouldn’t budge, and a quick comparison search got it back down to (almost) where it was through Nationwide. Even so, who do these companies think they’re kidding? At least D i c k Turpin wore a mask!

  6. Old cars are like old people. They dont go as fast as they used to and they leak a bit... When something goes wrong always ask for a second opinion!

  8. Hard copies are not supplied by default and I'm not sure they are available at all for current models. The pdf is so much easier to search through (CTRL+F) than the paper versions..

  10. you can download the pdf, which then makes it far easier to search for something.

  12. I am afraid that this appears to be the erosion of the brand as we knew it. I too tried Lexus insurance in May, and they declined to quote me. The fact that they appear to use the Lexus name to trade, should cause concern with Lexus U.K., but I really think they are no longer the company they were. I have noticed that when I recently booked my service, on line, I made additional requests for work to be done. No one has replied. I attempted to phone Lexus Birmingham, but the calls are all diverted to Milton Keynes I believe, then they contact the dealer, and you become the piggy in the middle. Not good practice, and certainly not the service we had attracted to the brand in tge first place. So I am afraid the fact that they decline my insurance, sod em, there is always some one else who will welcome my business, but the other decisions may lead to many loyal customers looking elsewhere come time to renew their vehicle. Ps… avoid Audi, there dealers are poor!

  19. Thanks Tickedon, I think (with the benefit of hindsight perhaps naively!) that as the dealership was making the right kind of noises I presumed it would all be sorted to my satisfaction within a few days. I’ve spent a long evening looking at lot of things on the internet regarding who is responsible and my rights. Yes , you are spot on, it really has little to do with Lexus UK, my contract is with the dealership and they should rectify it. I can appreciate that it’s not perhaps their fault but they should be sorting this issue out themselves then taking it up with Lexus. I’m pretty sure they must know this so it makes me wonder if the “offer from Lexus” really originated there. Time to decide which legal assistance policy I should use perhaps!

  21. Way cheaper on fuel than i intially anticipated (was full prior to leaving and filled up just prior to driving the last 4 miles home) and fuel receipts totalled 126.22 and averaged 29.7 mpg over 3 days, first 2 days i was a full on tourist so ambled around (no rush plus was the 1st time my missus had been on the NC500) also booked hotels for later on in the day so had a whole day to see the sights….. 3rd n final day started as easy gentle relaxed drive until we did our last touristy visit to Dunrobin castle, was then given permission of her to drive home like id stole it, so once i left the castle grounds and got onto A9 again, sports settings and exhaust settings (Armytrix valvetronic system) changed to zoom and LOUD and whoosh i was off, 😂 easily would of made pole position in a F1 race 😉😂 i did have 2 hiccups on 1st day first being a malfunction on a remote 12v battery isolater i had fitted 3mths back…. Id parked up and went for a walk and on return wouldn’t let me open car remotely as isolater had switched battery off and wouldn’t let me switch battery on again…. Eventually got socket set out and took off the isolater and car started and was fine… 2nd incident was just as i was pulling into 1st hotels car park i hit a rock and damaged my splitter…. Was fuming with myself then quickly got over it as ive never liked the front splitter id put on, so good reason know to change it lol, every cloud and all that guff i suppose…. Glad i had the splitter on tho or i would of carried on a bit further and it would of been my bumper that took the impact but as i hit the rock i heard the splitter crack so stopped….. but regardless of them very minor issues and not the actual cars fault, the whole trip was PRICELESS,

  22. Earlier in this thread (May 2) I posted the response I got from my dealer when I asked about any updates on the anti-theft situation. In view of their negative response, I contacted Lexus CR; their response was to say that the dealer could fit the plates. I sent them a copy of my dealer's email which said that the plates were not available for the ES. A few days later, I had a call from the dealer asking me to come in so that they could fit the plates! I sent an email to Lexus CR thanking them for sorting it (their job is a pretty thankless task!), and asking if there was a date for a real solution. They replied that a software solution was 'imminent'.

  23. Hi Jean, If you open the Lexus link+ app you have options to turn on the front and rear demisters, heated steering wheel and seat(s) so just toggle the switches over to select. if you press ‘Climate’ on the bottom of the infotainment, it brings up options to alter the settings of the fan and to turn on the de icer which is just at the bottom for the wipers and on mine the windscreen in front of the front camera if you have the app you can download or view the manual on there too. ian )

  25. I drive more relaxed these days but iirc this particular route in the RC with an F type and a strangers 6 series was more than spirited and the whole time was a memory I’ll never forget (second trip was based in Dornoch for the interior roads), the pic is of course Kylesku

  27. A 17 years young Lexus with slightly less than Full Lexus Service History will have negligible reduced value by having a reputable independent garage stamp in your Service Book ......... well done getting this all sorted at a " sensible " cost Happy Motoring Malc

  28. Well lexus insurance declined to quote so going to start raising complaints .... to start with. Just like the plates, it took many voices from this forum to get those, I hope that many voices from this forum can start lodging complaint about the insurance. I know its not lexus directly but, put the pressure on lexus and they will push the underwriters Im hoping, after all, they put their name and reputation to them. Come on Warren Hetz, care to comment?

  31. Just curious as to why people take out car loans / pcp isn't just getting a personal loan cheaper? When I bought mine before the crazy interest rate hikes i got a personal loan at 3.3% where as the cheapest car finance was 7.5% + the car is recorded as having finance on it. A personal loan sounded like a no brainier to me. So I always wondered other than people who don't get personal loans for whatever reason why would anyone take car finance? Are there any benefits I am missing?

  32. Well that was a new one. Nothing else wrong but now I have a fail - I hate our system over here in NI as I have had to pay £30 for a re-test that I can't get until the 2nd week in July - my question is, I had the lights checked and they were fine, however in between that and the test, somebody managed to unplug my battery tender and the cars battery went completely flat. When I got it charged again everything seemed to reset and I was wondering is it possible the headlight did as well? And if so is there any procedure to get it to go back to where it was or is it a matter of somehow getting at the adjustment screws?

  34. I’m not wishing to sound smug, but they at least quoted me….. 23 RX450h+, 7500 mpa, full NCD. However the quote was £1000 more than Aviva, so not particularly attractive 😏

  36. Hi Just want to promote the nice Lexus Insurance people, who won't even insure their own cars. Anyone know their social media sites. Time to take it to the insurers and underwriters and bring it to their doorstep
