  2. Parked outside Venezia, Italy with the Caravan.. Quite OK as towcar (but VERY anoying to have to turn EVERYTHING off to be able to reverse... Sadly Volvo is way way better..) Almost 2000kms with 1500kg behind and 90km/h through Harz-moutains, Thüringen Wald and Brenner-Pass ends up with 9.6 l/100 kms (29.4 MPG (imp)) Very relaced driving feeling and infact cheaper on gas then my XC40 D4 was... (even though it was a Diesel!)

  5. One of the advantages of a 2015 RCF that may offset the high road tax is the marginally higher power & torque over the later cars which had to comply with stricter emissions restrictions from Europe. Depends on your priorities 😉🤣

  10. Local garage look over it and told me steering lock control module that’s giving the vehicle problems. There is a power and ground there, however the box is not releasing the ACC relay to start the vehicle. is anyway I can get the Lexus software or is only via Lexus

  11. It’s a worldwide problem. Even the American Lexus Owners site is full of owners who can’t find that button! It must be Japanese sense of humour…😊 Equally problematic are the recommended ways of resetting it. Here’s the official version, but driving the car for a while at speeds of over 50mph are also suggested. Presumably the tyres get hot enough to expand and increase the internal pressure, which helps to reset the valve when it’s next turned on. “Turn the vehicle’s ignition to “on” without starting the engine; hold the TPMS reset button until the light flashes three times and release the button. Start the car and give it about 20 minutes—the warning light should disappear.”

  17. Hi guys, So I’m thinking of importing an IS350. From what I’ve read, these have the Japanese speed limiter of 112 mph and a speed limiter on the cruise control. Now this topic has been probably covered here but I’m clueless where to look. Is there any garage in UK that can remove these limiters from the car? If you could, please either point me to the right post on the forum; or state which garages could deal with the limiters for me? Thanks in advance, Matty

  18. In case it's any help to you, I imported a 2012 HS 250h with cruise control. The cruise control set speed is limited to 115km/h, but the speed itself is not governed. I've driven the car up to 160kph.

  19. Hi Lent, wow that was well hidden. However seems like that reset button in rendered useless, that's how bad the problem is. I'll continue to drive the car over tge weekend just to tick boxes and see what the garage says Monday. Thanks though;)

  20. Hey Lexus family, Lexus Glasgow recently invited me to their drive event at Crossbasket Castle Hotel. It was a great opportunity to be around the LBX and new UX 300h! They brought along their LC 500 black edition (aka inspiration series/bespoke build). I parked beside it upfront and it was a great opportunity to have a hybrid and the V8 side by side. I will note that out with seeing a green LC at the dealership last year, I haven't seen another LC in Scotland whilst being in my LC (even to grab a pic). If you had to choose, are you going for an all black V8 or a white launch edition (with the tri colour interior) - promise not to get offended if you don't choose my car. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy these Lexus LC pics and if you owners have any recent LC pics of your own rides. Please feel free to share below as I love seeing the various colour combinations on our cars! Thanks, Thomas CarsofGlasgow

  21. In some ways I would prefer a manual tailgate which is faster and has no sensors to stop it from closing. In the olden days I would cram the boot with rubbish and then force it closed 😅 I haven't mastered the kick sensor yet either 😅

  22. I keep my LBX on Eco mode and am achieving 67mpg, which is a lot better than I thought it would get.

  23. Interesting, mixed experiences. I guess Ian/Iain's experience is different because he has the Generation 1 NX and things have changed (for better or worse) with Gen 2. I've not experienced the boot stopping with a few inches to go as Sean has found. Whilst I had trouble at first, I can now get the kick sensor to work first time about 95% of the time and it's a feature I appreciate; especially as it shows off my magical powers to the grandchildren! Walking away after pressing the close and lock button on the tailgate is still frustrating me and often I'm half way to my back door when I realise the boot lid hasn't moved. I get it right about one in 5 times but, when I don't, then I end up walking back to the car to press the close button (which always works) and then I can lock the car either with the fob or using the door handle. Still a great car though 🙂

  24. When I first saw a pic of this model I thought they were a bit too aggressive/muscly for my taste. Think i am changing my mind on that issue. Why does one have a picnic table on the back and the other doesn't.? Is that some kind of option at purchase? Not being derogatory there. That's just what we grew up calling those rear spoliers. Not immediate, but I think I would like to test drive the LC at some point. In the future I will offload the XK I picked up when the novelty value wears off and perhaps the LC might be a replacement IF the quality level was still inline with what I have on my SC. For sure the Lexus has that over the Jaguar everywhere you look. I would take Black over White all day long.

  29. The spend is probably zero sum (ish) when considered in isolation. That is, if you don't spend it then the cars resale value will reflect that if one is being honest and above board. No, the issue for you is one of 'sunk costs'. Having made this spend are you actually going to get more back in utility value than it cost , or are there going to be further such costs heading your way. Probably a good starting point is one of existing value relative to the spend required to ensure it is still usable. Whats that look like?

  31. On the whole, I feel so spoilt by the size, comfort and power of the GS. I will struggle to change to anything smaller. Thank you, never heard of Amayama. I've just had a look on there for 2007 GS 450H SE-L A shock absorbers and they are £483 each. Interestingly they are £407 on Lexuspartsdirect, so £300 cheaper. I am not sure if the support assembly and/or springs would be needed. Still, it is worth knowing for future reference as I am sure there would be cheaper things on there. Hopefully, I won't need to be searching for more parts or spending more money after this. @cruisermark thank you. I've had a look and I think I will get the Gold £1200 option. In the immediate period, I will reset the fault tomorrow morning and if it comes back again, it would be straight to Hybridsolutions. I will get in touch with him to understand how long it takes as Northampton is about 3 hours away from me.

  32. I have found that for the lock button on the tailgate to work properly you have to press the button and walk away, not just step away. The release button inside the car needs a long press. Also make sure the keys are well inside the car. Having them in your pocket if trying to use the release button whilst stood by the door will always be very hit & miss

  33. I would agree with Len and vote for Michelin CrossClimate 2. For UK weather these are just the best all-year-round tyres. Note to self: stay away from "sport" tyres on cars that are meant to be driven in peace. All the sport tyres I've had on different cars they all have been just too hard for comfort even in 20+degrees weather, which was becoming much more noticeable with temperatures dropping under 10. I've recently replaced the "sport" tyres on my wife's Velar with CrossClimate 2, maaan, that's a different car now! The rubber stays soft at near 0 temperatures. It handles just as good and the road/tyre noise seems to be lower and further in distance too. The tyres on my ES still have got some 5-7K miles in them, will go for CrossClimate 2 fore sure.

  34. My experience is that it's a bit fickle, even allowing for the built-in safety mechanisms. From the outside, whether using the button or the kick sensor, you do need to step back to give the boot room to open without hitting you. For the kick sensor, kicking in and out works better than side to side. If closing and locking using the button on the tailgate, you do, again, need to step away. I can't achieve this all the time, yet! I rarely get anywhere using the fob. Make sure you are in Park if using the button inside the car.

  37. Yep, I know. I worked on Raikes Lane Ind Estate for many years in the past for Mastercare. Regarding the spare set of wheels I have, tyres are removed, I thought you may want to get the set refurbished, swop them over and keep yours as spares or flog them. I was thinking of getting them refurbished, see how good they turn out and then flog them for the cost of the refurb.

  38. One good tip to do mate whatever tyres you get, run 225 in the front and 245 in the back instead of the 255, theyre a little thin but make no real difference to the drive and they are quite alot cheaper!

  39. I have to say I don't think the interior looks "cheap". However as I have said before I am not impressed with the seats which in my opinion should be leather at this price point like most of the competitors.

  40. Thank you mate for your help. It worked. NX350h with Head Up Display you have to use touch pad on steering wheel and somehow by mistake I have touched speed limiter. I sorted out and all working fine again 🙂 I wish they had not removed the physical buttons on steering wheel for Takumi model.

  42. I've tested my key fob to see if it goes to sleep after a certain time when the fob is stationary. I locked the doors and put the fob on the floor next to the driver's door. I tried the door after 1 minute and it opened. I did the same sequence again and after 2 minutes and the door still opened. However after a period of 4 minutes the door wouldn't open, but as soon as I moved the fob a few inches on the floor the door could be opened again. I don't feel the need for a Faraday pouch or manually turning off the fob signal for my 2023 NX450h unless I wanted belt and braces. I don't know for which model year this fob auto shut-off was introduced. But you can try it for yourselves if your interested.

  44. After following the above instructions, big shout out to @SPC, it works! I also found that you don't actually need to do any modifications to the DSU, only the ECM. It just means for who ever tries to attempt this, it's one less step. The setup I have working is with a Radar and DSU that are both Japan spec, even though my car is EU spec. I am also using a newer DSU than the one which is spec'd for the car. I am using Part No. 88150-52053 instead of 88150-52052 (which I never could find anywhere). This confirms that, you can use a Radar and DSU which is a different spec from the rest of your car, the important thing is to keep the DSU and Radar the same region. This should be helpful for anyone who is trying to get parts but can't find them in their same region. I have found some of these parts are much cheaper in the US. I will keep testing it and report back if there are any issues or DTC's that come up, but so far it's been clean. I am also fairly certain that I need to get the radar re-calibrated/re-aimed, even though it seems to be working without it for now. I am also planning to do a full write up for whoever want's to attempt this in the future.

  45. Battery problems are usually associated with low use and moreover following covid. We see this in our own little world but it applies to all brands. There was a definite problem with the Mutlu batteries but that may have been addressed in production. Time will tell.
    1 point
  46. You shouldn't use heated seats or steering wheel or any in fact even the radio when it isn't in Ready mode. Once it is in Ready Mode then it makes no difference what you switch on as the power is coming from the hybrid system, not the 12v battery. It charges at around 5 to 8 amps. It makes no difference if the vehicle is just sat in Ready mode or being driven. This isn't an issue. The vehicle is able to generate 100+ amps @ 12v from the hybrid system. With less that 10 amps going to charging the 12v battery, you have more than enough to use all the features of the vehicle. If you are using your vehicle daily then it doesn't really matter on the journey length, you just need around 1 to 2 hours of the vehicle being in Ready mode per week. As you potentially use it less than that then you may experience the same issues and your Yaris. Make sure your key isn't left near the vehicle (e.g. by the front door with the vehicle on the driveway) as if the two can communicate with each other it can cause the battery to discharge faster. You could also consider disabling smart entry completely from the vehicle's menu which would help and also prevent the possibility of a relay attack theft.

  47. With some help from this thread and EEPROM programming I was able to add DRCC and PCS to my 2014 US spec. IS350 AWD. What finally worked was pulling the Driving Support ECU & Engine Control Module and virginizing them, which caused the car to think it has a new ECM. Process to get the DSU to allow Radar Cruise (disconnect battery before uninstalling DSU/ECU): 1. Backup ECM and DSU EEPROMs before doing anything. See these photos of the modules: https://imgur.com/a/jU8Jtjv 2. Write the semi-virgin data to the DSU EEPROM. (93LC66 16 bit) See this original and semi-virgin example data for writing. Don't delete the Region information or Part number information. Blank out the information like the example. (Different years and models may look nothing like this). (I'm not 100% sure if this whole step needed) 3. Write all 00's to the Engine Control Module EEPROM (93LC86 16bit) 4. Reinstall virginized ECM and DSU 5. Reconnect Battery. Initiate Immobilizer/ECM learn routine. (Jump Pin 4 and 13 on the OBD2/DLC, Ignition on for 30 minute, then off and start the car 6. Write VIN using Techstream to Engine Control Module (It will show a VIN not programmed DTC). Mine still shows the DTC after writing the VIN, but the check engine light is now off. I'm guess it will disappear eventually) 7. Test DRCC. All seemed to be working well matched leading vehicle speed and braking worked well. No DTC's after 30 min of driving. Radar aiming will likely be necessary to ensure it's properly tracking vehicles in front of you. DRCC should look like this one the instrument cluster: https://imgur.com/a/InCNkBt Notes: Be cautious with the ECM modification, there's always a chance of causing the car not to start if something goes wrong. EEPROM Tools and Guides I used: CH341A EEPROM Programmer I used: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R5LPTYM?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details CH431A EEPROM Programmer modifications needed to support 93LCXX EEPROMSs: YouTube Instructions EEPROM editing software I used: AsProgrammer_v2.1.0.13 (Windows driver included in the driver install folder): https://mega.nz/#!VMR0QQhL!wU4fYzCqjtHfXbD_tyOCRVnd3ahGgjprG_8RnVJ7N3o Other good things to watch would be this YouTube video also showing modification of the programmer to work on 93LCXX EEPROMs used in Toyotas. The ECM and DSU both have a protective coating sprayed on the boards, so you may need to gently scrape the pins of the EEPROM for good contact with the programmer. Please keep in mind that I'm not an engineer or an expert, just a hobbyist that enjoys working on cars. These modifications can have expensive/safety repercussions if something goes wrong.

  48. Hi All, I was wandering if anyone have managed to do anything with cruise control limiter in JDM models. So currently if I want to sent my CC I need to be below 70 mph, or precisely 68 mph and it never tops out even at 70 it will be closer to 69 (in real world its 65 mph). It is very uncomfortable on UK roads. Its there any solution, like swapping cruise control module to UK one?
    1 point
  49. I would guess so, more something to raise with Lexus UK vehicle folks that the Insurance folks have seen an issue. For me the price wasn't that far off other insurers (10%?) and I like the idea of them using OEM parts after an accident.

  50. Thanks Lent ;) Just been on 60ml journey and to no effect. Unfortunately my model does not have that reset button so no hope for me there. Will have to take it back to the garage and see what they can further do. They said the only other option is to swap tge sensors for the Lexus brand. Will let you know the result FYI;)
