  1. Just collected mine this afternoon, and after a 4.5hr lovely drive, it’s home [hence the dark pictures].

  2. Just taken possession of an immaculate 3 litre Camry, 1998, so my thoughts of coming back to another LS 400 are void- hope I’m not tempting fare here. 69K miles, amazing paint ceramic coating -apparently - plus (messi rated?) Lano sealed underneath. All I have to do is get reacquainted with the size again! It purrs, said deliverer! I’ll still be popping up on here, I’m sure. Steve2000 has a link to a YouTube vid (as I’m too Luddite to know how to post it now.)

  3. My September 2022 model is now up to 77km but this time last year it was around 70km, rising to 72km (peak of 73km) toward the end of summer. Car currently has 22,500km on the odometer. Seems it takes time for everything to get fully settled.

  4. I used westlancsautoelectrics.co.uk/ They were superb. They sent a carrier to pick the alternator up. A new one came back 4 days later with an 18 month warranty (longer than the Lexus main dealer), and at half the price of the main dealer quote.

  5. You can try the company below, it's local to me and I had my alternator tested by them - not rebuilt/refurbished but having visited the company I would take my alternator there for a rebuild without hesitation. You can send your alternator to them, they will sort it out and send it back, visit the website or give them a call. 6. Hi everyone Im looking for my next car coming from a range rover sport and while I loved it after owing it for 3yrs reliability is at the top of my list for my next car I never want to be stranded on the motorway ever again. I've test driven both and am stuck as there both great cars but I've read online that genesis don't have the best reliability and there's been a few complaints on the car and the dear network is not great even now there merging with Hyundai were lexus's reliability is legendary apparently and the dealers are fantastic. I just want to get people's opinions on these 2 cars and to hear from Lexus owners on how true it is that they are the most reliable cars you can get. I suppose anything will be more reliable after a range rover.

  12. I had an S60 T5 (2019) before my Lexus. I gave the car to my son. He took it for a 12000 mile service and we could not believe the extortionate price - over £700. They insisted on new spark plugs - at 12000 miles - who is kidding whom? When he said don't replace them they told him his warranty would be voided. He got rid of the car and I felt bad about having given the car to him. BTW It was a lovely and pretty quick car. The new dealers, a big chain who bought out the old owners, were also pretty awful and even rude to deal with. So, no more Volvo, the new cars are electric so I don't want one anyway. No more Renault, Nissan, Ford, Jaguar, Lexus. OMG - what can I get??? I will just keep my old Lexus cars which have proved to be 100% reliable 🤞🤞🙃and enjoyable to drive.

  13. Good post from GLSV6 that sums up what will happen to Lexus if they delay any further or worse - do nothing. JLR have been in this position and realised the only way to get at least some of their customers back (although their reputation is ruined - it’ll be decades before this is forgotten - remember Lancia?) is by direct action to fix the problem on every car they produced. It’s not just Lexus/Toyota - Kia/Hyundai have a similar problem in the US - but it’s the company that steps up and addresses it that will keep their image intact https://www.dailymail.co.uk/yourmoney/article-12930701/hyundai-kia-thefts-insurance.html I’m convinced Lexus themselves chucking a cheap immobiliser on each car is the fastest and cheapest option. Short of a wholesale redesign of the canbus system I don’t think there’s another option, but I hope someone more knowledgeable can correct me. edited to add JLR’s offer of £1800 towards your insurance premium following their now-£15million investment in retrofitting security to previous gen cars at risk of theft. Lexus take note - do something like this fast enough and you’ll still have customers, dealers and a brand image left. https://www.am-online.com/news/more-oem-support-to-tackle-jaguar-land-rover-customers-insurance-woes?utm_source=LexusOwnersClubUK&utm_medium=ForumLinks

  14. We did go to Mazda and sat in the CX-60 but as we wanted a light interior we thought that the combination of cream colours in the Mazda wasn’t as appealing as the Lexus. Furthermore the dealership experience was not as welcoming as Lexus.

  17. Anywhere with birds, they do that... Worse, much worse, I've noticed, when the car is was spotlessly clean. If you're planning to update the maps yourself, the guidance they provide is decent, but make sure you use a decent USB stick. Doesn't have to be fast - I've tried a faster one, and it made no difference to how long it takes, which is best part of 80 minutes. I've done it twice now, and the first time I did it just sat in the drive with the car in Ready mode; the second I went for a drive.

  19. Evening all, Took delivery of my new (to me) IS300h F-Sport and I absolutely love it. Wife just recently passed her test and has been bequeathed the family Renault Scenic, so going from that to the Lexus is absolutely mind blowing! So far I've only tried to change gears 3 times, I'll get there though.

  21. Lexus sales so far this year (2024)... Jan: 676 Feb: 429 Mar: 2758 (hello new 24 registration and lots of new LBX models!) Apr: 1318 A sale is a new car registration (i.e. cars ordered will count as a sale weeks/months later when registered) Watchdog ran their story in mid-March. Given cars are often on a lead time, we probably won't see any impact for a while. But given the new LBX, even if other existing customers choose to go elsewhere for their next new car, the new buyers brought in by the LBX will likely compensate... A long way of saying Lexus UK probably don't have too many incentives to do anything that quickly - sadly!

  23. I have a 2006 IS250 and changed the battery from OEM to Yuasa because the OEM was not in stock. The Yuasa failed within 2 years with the car needing a jump start after being parked whilst on holiday for a week. Was changed by my garage under warranty so no problems there, hoping the replacement doesn't let me down!

  24. As depressing as this topic is ; it is strange that Lexus has still not found a permanent solution. Many of you may remember that am one of the unfortunate ones whose beloved 2022 RX was stolen from my driveway on June 15 last year. Almost a year to date. As everyone has commented the police never attended my house and the car was never recovered. Luckily my insurance provider at the time paid out the full settlement but I have got stung with subsequent insurance renewal as I have to declare a “theft claim “ for the next five years even though the theft wasn’t my fault but the crazy insurance industry will continue to penalise me for the next 4 years. For all that want to know the best quote I got on my current car (BMW) was £1700 for a year with Direct Line. LV my insurer at the time of the theft quoted £3500; and this is me a 59 year old Architect living in Hertfordshire with 15yr NCB. In conclusion there are many of us Lexus lovers who are suffering in silence because of our love of the brand I personally owned four Lexus RX prior to the stolen one - but may never return to the brand unless they get their acts together on the security vulnerabilities of their cars.

  26. ….now that is spooky, Malcolm ! I too, flew from Biggin Hill, would be early 60’s ! visited airfield at week-end’s, the apron outside the flight office was alway’s surrounded by crowd’s, in the summer, gawping at all the frequent aircraft traffic movement’s. I flew an ageing de Havilland Chipmunk, tandem 2 seat, single engine ex-RAF trainer. I say flew, I twigged the reason why so many local flight’s were solo single pilot’s. the reason ? private / commercial pilot’s needing to maintain their annual flying hour’s to keep their licence’s ! circulate in the flight office watching for a pilot kitted out ready to leave to embark on their hired aircraft. ask them, politely, if I could join them for their flight - never declined ( alway’s free ).! de rigeur to wear the raf blue cloth skull cap with in-built headphone’s, would swagger out onto the apron, my comms lead trailing 😳 crowd’s gawping - felt like Biggle’s or a Spitfire pilot as I crossed the tarmac, climbed into the cockpit of the Chipmunk and taxied away ! 😂 🤣. oh happy day’s - an era long gone ! anthony

  28. Genesis make high quality and individual cars and I respect them for not following the herd. However and contrary to their wholly unrealistic promise at the outset, the Genesis customer experience was terrible as the personal assistant system does not work. I was also told that for any even minor checks the car will be driven up to 100 miles to their “local” facility. Most unattractive in my view and no reason for me to change from Lexus after two decades where the customer care is consistently excellent.

  30. One “young and affluent” here, new to the Lexus brand, guilty as charged… Lexus had their highest ever sales in the UK in 2023 (the same year they had the highest thefts, as a percentage of cars in the road!). Their first quarter sales in 2024 so far are very similar - so I’m afraid there hasn’t been a crisis-creating drop in demand. Even a 20% drop would just put them back at what they were around pre-pandemic. Before my Lexus I had an Audi, and before that a Volvo - I put 70k miles on a S60 over 4.5 years. I would never go back. Servicing is extortionate and I had enough problems that I had to find a friendly independent to keep the costs reasonable. I’m not saying Lexus are doing a good job on this issue (far from it) nor that they should get a free pass - but the grass isn’t always greener.

  31. Sounds very nice! I've had a total of five Camrys, including a V6 of the previous generation and a 2.2 Sport of the model like yours. All of them fantastic cars, definitely some Lexus DNA in them. I suspect there may be another one in my future, especially if I found one as good as yours sounds!

  32. Exactly the issue. The security enhancement must be ready in time for the insurance renewal or we will all have to pay thousands of pounds for insurance that used to be hundreds of pounds before the security flaw. Lexus should pay for these increases and any other losses

  33. I came back to this forum after a long break because I wanted to do some homework on a planned change from an RX3 to an RX4. Glad I did. It's just saved me making a £36K mistake. I shall be calling Lexus tomorrow and asking them not to bother with a trade in. I'll keep my trusty RX3 for a while longer, then abandon Lexus for another manufacturer. It's the only way, short of a class action (which I believe highly unlikely to happen unless the message goes to each and every RX4/NX/LC/ES/Rav4 etc etc owner in the UK) likely to persuade Lexus to offer a bullet proof solution which will deter thieves and lower insurance values. Nothing else will. It's that simple. I cannot conceive of any reality where I might go ahead with an RX4 and cross my fingers with layered security such as trackers (waste of money and time....don't stop attempted thefts), steering wheel locks (defeatable even if only by cutting through the steering wheel), steel plates and the like at my own cost. Why should I or anyone else pay for a luxury vehicle then accept it's up to me to provide a solution to a Lexus design fault, and a grossly negligent one at that? Brand loyalty is an illusion. The minute a manufacturer....of anything...does something like this and treats customers with such wilful neglect and disdain is the second I dump them and look for another. It's a buyer's market. When their sales volumes half, and dealerships start closing around the UK, it will be too late for them to recover and initiate any meaningful damage limitation. Those feeling snug and secure in their RX5 purchases may yet be undone when time reveals issues with those platforms. A wise man looks back at history for lessons. Sadly, I genuinely believe that short of a class action actually being realised, nothing will be done of any real use and Lexus UK is finished. Overnight, those currently owning affected vehicles perhaps looking to trade them in for 5th generation platforms may not bother when they realise their cars are worth diddly squat on the used market as insurance becomes uneconomic for them, used prices tumble etc are hardly likely, if they are sensible, to chuck a huge amount on a new model as the whole cost of ownership does in fact span the life of total ownership experience. Only a fool or someone with more money than sense would blindly go ahead. So where does this leave us and Lexus? Clearly, they are bargaining on a new breed of buyer and have already written off existing 4th generation car owners. Their whole advertising campaign is more aimed at the young and affluent. I wish them good luck....they're going to need it. I'm now off to study the latest guides on reliable, secure cars which offer at least something of the RX experience. It hasn't taken more than a few minutes to discover the the XC40 and 60 are in the mix and other opportunities, perhaps for something completely different will shake me out of my RX complacency. My eyes have been opened.

  34. I'm not sure how old you are but try one first if your pensionable like us, the wife wants me to change the CT as she struggles to get in and out of it as it's a 2014, we've only had it a year and I'm happy but she's not, unfortunately a 2014 passenger seat does not lift up and she says she falls into it, where as after 2014 the the passenger seat is adjustable, worth a mention.

  35. Sorry but I had to read your post twice when you said Thankfully the wife passed last year. LOL. I'd agree with what's been posted but if I'd had a choice before I bought mine I'd have looked for one with a reversing camera. We tend to use the Wife's Yaris for the weekly shopping run as I'm paranoid about supermarket car parks and save the CT for a more eventful run and on the up side the 2015 Yaris is only £35 road tax and the Lexus is nothing as it's a 2014 so the only really cost is the insurance for both cars, she's just had her renewal through for £275 an increase of £25 which we're not bothered about, gotta wait till next month to find out how much mine will be.

  39. Have a search on this Forum and other Lexus forums plus YouTube. Folk will pitch in…from memory release auxiliary belt. Identify alternator fixing bolts. Jack up and support vehicle. Undo from top and underneath as practicable. Draw unit forward and out. This will expose electrical connector for disconnection. It’s a step taken in a cambelt change so it will feature in those guides too. Hope that helps.

  40. Well lexus got back to me today - nothing of any substance. The reply to me asking when the security enhancements would be available was : "I’m afraid exact timings are still to be confirmed. We anticipate being able to advise Centres with further details in due course. I’m afraid I’m unable to confirm a date at the moment. Please be reassured that the enhanced security enhancement is being finalised and will be available soon for impacted customers." It wont be available to me for my insurance renewal though - so I'll just end up paying an inflated amount

  46. I doubt it has anything to do with their maturity. That is not how car thieves operate. Simply said they have dedicated roles, some steal the car, they get set amount of money for doing it and they take it from your driveway maybe only 20 miles away and park it in some industrial park. Their job done, they do not care the slightest what was in the car and how much it is worth. Separate group then moves the car after some time, same again - set price for set job, which does not include evaluating designer bags value in the car. Third group perhaps dismantles the car into part, same again - they are mechanically minded. At no point there is any incentive to anyone to put anything on ebay, because such action would compromise their operation, if you find your personal item on ebay that can lead the police to the thieves, whereas otherwise they are safe as they did their little dirty part in the process took the salary and are "off the hook". Removal of dash cam is obvious one, if car gets recovered then there may be incriminating information on it, also many dashcams have GPS tracking and similar features. Boot carpet- I suspect were looking for tracker. Carpet under the dash - same reason.

  48. I use a tow bar mounted carrier on our SUV 2-3 times a week (I cycle to work by leaving the car at the school doing the school run). The bike also fits inside boot without having to drop the rear seats, but as you say I don’t want the inside of the car as dirty as the outside. Our IS300H sadly cannot compare to the SUV for practicality or the pedal bike for excitement. It is however more reliable than either, but where is the fun in life without some unexpected shenanigans 🙂

  49. If they are making a noise when you aren't on the brakes then either the pads are worn and the audible wear indicators are scraping against the disc to warn you - but more likely your brake calliper sliding pins are seizing up and not allowing the pads to move away from the disc and so need lubricating. If you have squeal when lightly applying the brakes then the pads may be glazed over, but the OEM ones do tend to do this - replacing with EBC pads would solve that (and reduce dust).
