I am using a 'dumb' charger (pre-smart ones that tell you more info), so I calculate my charges by using the lexus Link app to tell me the amount of charge remaining in the battery - remembering that 30% is ringfenced and not generally used for driving. I then calculate how many Kw/h it will take to fill and multiply that by the cost of electricity. I'm not on any fancy tariff so if there is 47% charge left in the battery the formula I use is 18.1*0.53*0.2736 this gives a £ value of £2.62. I disregard the fact that there will be some 'leakage' which means I'm underestimating slightly, but it is near enough for me. And yes I have a spreadheet 😁2 points

Unfortunately Ken, as is evident from previous posts, whatever positives that may have contributed towards reducing your premium 10 years ago seem to have absolutely no actuarial significance today ... even if you live in the wonderful Pictish stronghold that is The Kingdom of Fife 🧙♂️.2 points

Hi Pally I'm here snooping from the NX Forum - I've got to keep my eye on Ken R !! 😂 Anyway, I've copied and pasted a post from an NX 450h+ Range forum back in 2022 about how I calculate mpg - I do it over a longer time than a single trip though. Hopefully this might help?: "I filled up on day one (1st March) with odometer showing 29 miles. I've filled up today with odometer showing 3838, not put any fuel in between. Today put in 39 litres (8.58 gallons) to fill again. That works out at 444 miles per gallon. I am not naive enough to think that this is a true representation, so I thought if I add the cost of the fuel (£65) to the cost of all my electric charges (£255.82), divide that by todays fuel price per litre (£1.669) after converting to gallons, this will provide an equivalent number of gallons to the total cost, then divide miles covered (3809) by the equivalent gallons: All fuel cost 65 + 255.82 = £320.82 Cost per gallon 166.9*4.54609 = £7.587 320.82/7.587 = 42.29 gallons 3809/42.29 = 90.06 mpg Sits back and waits for those cleverer than me to blow my theory/calculation/premise out of the water. What have I missed?"2 points

I am a bit of a Honda fan (not sure if you can say that on here 😚) although I personally have never owned a Honda car. I still have a lawnmower and motorbikes which have been very reliable. Great to get a photo of 100,000. I'm sure I would have remembered at 100,003 🙈2 points

Been on the books for a while before I realised it was the USA site, I suppose the dollar signs should have given it away. Anyway, I'm in the right place now, so time to rock n roll. It's my first lexus and so far extremely impressed1 point

Actual today 33 with remaining range with A/C quoted as 11.4, so not too far off?1 point

I had a Legend that I did 110,000 miles and traded it in for my first LS 400. The Legend made good money…! My wife has had seven Honda’s. A Civic, two Aerodecks, two Accord 2.2I’s and 2 Preludes. The Accords and the Preludes all had 4ws that helped parking etc… All the Honda’s were great cars… It was a shame that the last Prelude model that Honda made didn’t have the 4ws and the VTEC engine. I would have bought one if it had 4ws… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Prelude Not wanting to put my wife back in a 2ws car. I managed to find a Prelude Motegi at Honda Bogner Regis, which I bought... That was her last car when because of her MS she was stopped from driving…1 point

….please be advised I have, with immediate effect, added a third t&c to The Sale of my Lexus LS 400: if you, a Lexus Owner’s Club Member or non-member, reside in Northern Ireland I am pleased to advise you the block on purchasing my Car has now been waived ! research show’s selling a car to Northen Ireland is identical to selling a car in Great Britain ! 🙂 ….first come - first served at this price ( £ 4.495 ! ). anthony ps. …sorry, Eire, the embargo remain’s. ☹️1 point

Yes, I have been checking on you too, to check if any more comments on your new RX vs NX. Meanwhile I have tested an RX and while very quiet and comfortable and a bit more difficult to get out of the car once inside my garage, I found a small niggle for me....that may sound unimportant but makes a difference for me. When on motorways or straight roads I like to rest my elbows while still holding the bottom of the steering wheel, but I can't do that with my right elbow on the RX because is wider! How weird am I? 🤣1 point

According to How many left. 595 LS460 SEL 2007 -2012 66 LS460 Luxury from 2012 13 LS460 F Sport from 2013 This shows the range https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?q=LEXUS+LS+ I was tempted by an F Sport recently but was surprised at the low equipment levels. No sunroof, no radar cruise, no heated steering wheel, no spare wheel.1 point

Spare parts for Honda motorbikes were always very expensive. I presume cars were the same. Normally you don't require many spare parts which is good.1 point

Basically yes. I have a smart meter and so the electricity consumption should be accurate.1 point

My 2006 Honda Legend sadly still reposes at the garage (150k miles ) awaiting the discovery of a replacement radiator at sensible ££££££ Honda price to source from the Belgium EU Parts Centre @£995 ……. OUCH 😫 Hopes now possibly found one and we can shortly move forward …… it’s a brilliant car which I’ve had 8 years and 45k miles …… the car that Honda just couldn’t sell here in the UK ….. tiny value coz no one wants them …… they only sold about 286 over some 6 years in the UK …… she’ll be back on the road soon I’m sure ….. she indoors just doesn’t really want to drive my Lexii 🤔 Malc1 point

I know the borders can be quite an isolated location to live in but I hope it's not resulted in you talking to yourself! 😁1 point

Hi Alan, it’s great to meet a fellow spreadsheet guru 😀 and thanks for sharing your insights. I think that you and I are aiming to calculate different outcomes. My approach is to try to calculate/estimate the car’s underlying hybrid mpg once the pure EV range has burnt off. My data since ownership last July now shows a total of 6,200 miles, 364.62 litres (80.2 gallons) and 1,140kWh of electricity. The car is showing a trip of 2.7 miles/kWh thus I have, in theory, covered 3.078 miles from my purchased electricity (2.7 x 1,140). This leaves 3,122 miles (6,200-3,078) covered by 80.2 gallons; giving a hybrid economy of 38.93 mpg As my old maths teacher used to say QED (quite enough data, thank you)…😂1 point

B4U2 most Honda fans would say 100k miles is barely run in. Since my first car an old school mini, i have exclusively driven Hondas for the last 30 years and they are Bombproof bar rear brake calipers seizing. Like Colin i had a Honda Accord and jumped ship to IS300h when Honda stopped making large saloons. I still currently own a 1998 Honda integra type-R which now currently sits at 208,000 miles and still revs freely to 9000rpm. Cheers, Rob1 point

Welcome to snooping on the RX forum Alan! 😁👍 I trust all good with you and your new NX. Your calculation is spot on as far as I am concerned and exactly how I calculate the overall mpg. Your 90mpg is certainly impressive particularly with only your second refuel in almost 4000 miles! (Your piling the miles on!) My overall when I had my NX was 72mpg. First calculation (after 665 miles) on my RX coming in at 62mpg using the same formula although increased temperatures of late are translating to an improving EV range.1 point

Has anyone seen / heard of the enhanced security update? It was originally scheduled for End of April. As I posted elsewhere, I emailed late April to Lexus CR and was fobbed off with the date was not known. Dealers would be in touch. Might email them again and copy in bbc watchdog.1 point

Steve, I found this elsewhere on this site. You go to lexus-tech.eu - it is a secure HTTPS website. I have cannot say it is genuine but I think it is - it asks you for codes and in return provides a code to validate the update and an activation code. My dealer is on the case with Lexus and hopefully I can provide more details shortly.1 point

Just looked back to my first 450h+ shown above (should read 9/5/2023) which at this time last year will have been 14 months old with approx 10k on clock. In May 2022 there was another thread we were noting range on - I'll see if I can find any posts from then as my new car has some 'learning' to do !! UPDATE: I've found the other thread, titled: NX 450h+ electric and petrol range, but it seems like I was more interested in working out the mpg than a day to day electric range then!!1 point

I have always had japaese cars, the likes of toyota & honda.1 point

I am not particularly loyal to any brand. If they annoy me at all then I try someone else (hope Lexus is listening 😅) I have changed from Ford to MG to Vauxhall to Saab to Audi and now to Lexus. Most have been good cars.1 point

I have actually had 4/5 honda's and they have been great cars although both my accords driveshaft failed and that was an expensive repair. I have noticed that a lot or maybe even most people tend to stick to the same brand forever once they are happy. Why change! If it ain't broke, don't fox it.1 point

Interesting John & Chris. I know that Octopus have a somewhat cheaper tariff than 'Octopus GO' which I am on and gives me 9p per unit from 0030 to 0430. However, my understanding is that the 7.5p tariff is only available for those cars whose manufacturers have signed up to Octopus' clever smart arrangement, which Lexus have not. Chris, I also export excess solar, but am paid 70.71p per Kwh. We were lucky enough to get on original 'feed-in' tariff.1 point

Yeah, as the canbus tin plates are just, errr, tin plates they won’t be Thatcham approved and therefore no insurer will take them into account - this is the same as the Ghost type immobilisers - they’re not categorised under the Thatcham system. Unless EVERY single at-risk Lexus is protected AND theft rates go down AND insurers and the press and the public realise ANY Lexus is at no more risk than another manufacturers car we’re ALL stuck with insurers pricing in the high likelihood of theft, together with the resultant knock on effect on resale values. The only way that’ll happen is via Lexus’s ‘imminent’ solution (stop laughing at the back) protecting every affected car in the UK.1 point

Having been Recommended This Vehicle Tracker BY Our Very Experienced Friend Herb.. I Too Can Thoroughly Recommend This Little Gadget...It Connects With Two Wires One red and one Black to The 12v Battery In All Of Five Minutes Download the app and your Ready to Go..The information you get is Incredible and worth it alone for the report And power in your 12v Battery .....Which i hasten to add was always of Concern As It Powers so many Systems on the car....At The moment if you purchase the Tracker from Amazon its priced at just £19.98 and you may even get a Fiver off that as i Did...Subscriptions are 12/24/36 Months and are very Reasonable .. Personnally i feel with all the Canbus Theft Problems This is a Remarkable Tool to keep tabs on your Vehicle Should it Suddenly Disappear Without your knowledge..Obviously if a professional steals your car he will in all probability Disarm it.. But keep in Mind the Majority of Car Thefts are Conducted by Opportunists.. So In My Humble opinion Give this Gadget some Thought...The Customer Service fom the Company is Really good and very Helpfull ....Coverage is the UK and Europe..Well Worth a look.. My Opinion Only Of Course..!!!1 point

I owned this many years ago. Bought it with buggered front air suspension and swapped the front struts with some from a MA70 Supra - I miss this car1 point

You can end up having to buy a whole new multimedia device if something goes wrong with it.... ("it shall be the responsibility of the dealer to rectify the situation in the event that it goes wrong").1 point

It will disable the speed limiter altogether. If you any questions, I'd contact Torque GT. They've been importing cars for a very long time, they know what they're talking about. They even provide a kph to mph conversion with odometer recalibration.1 point
