In our immediate family, we collectively have 4 Honda's in our "fleet" and not one of them has ever suffered a problem. None of them have ever failed a MOT (albeit one doesn't need one) nor ever had an advisory. With the oldest now being 11 years old on 80K miles, I'd say that was impressive. I feel pretty sure all of them would easily be more than capable of 100K or far greater. You'd really struggle to beat Honda for reliability. Way back in the nineties I had a Honda powered Rover 600 and I remember passing that on at 118K miles and the lad who took it over racked it up to 187|K before it finally failed its M|OT on rust. Again, till then no problems whatsoever.2 points

Hi, Just wanted to share my findings: I was looking for new 12V battery for my GS450h (2008), and these will fit directly the battery tray in the trunk: Varta Blue Dynamic E23 570412063 70Ah 630A size (in mm): 261x175x220 BOSCH S4 026 70Ah 630A, size (in mm): 261x175x220 Yuasa YBX3030 12V 72Ah 630A SMF Battery, size (in mm): 260x174x225 The original battery is Lexus 28800-31281 Panasonic S65D26L 57Ah 450A, size (in mm): 260x173x202. I ended up buying the Yuasa YBX3030. Installation was really easy: the only thing you need to do is to remove the temperature sensor from OEM battery and glue/tape it on top of the new battery. Picture of the temperature sensor on OEM battery: BR.Sami1 point

maybe, but I wouldn't use the IS250 to pull a caravan myself, I consider it to be under powered, albeit the paddle shift would help I imagine? But for what I want, which is towing a small camping trailer, it will do just fine.1 point

Just looked back to my first 450h+ shown above (should read 9/5/2023) which at this time last year will have been 14 months old with approx 10k on clock. In May 2022 there was another thread we were noting range on - I'll see if I can find any posts from then as my new car has some 'learning' to do !! UPDATE: I've found the other thread, titled: NX 450h+ electric and petrol range, but it seems like I was more interested in working out the mpg than a day to day electric range then!!1 point

Ive sorted the annoying knocking on the rear which I thought was a shocker, After having a play at the rear I noticed some play in the anti roll bar, bought some poly bushes for £16 and its cured the issues, silence again .... only took me 6 months to sort lol1 point

I have actually had 4/5 honda's and they have been great cars although both my accords driveshaft failed and that was an expensive repair. I have noticed that a lot or maybe even most people tend to stick to the same brand forever once they are happy. Why change! If it ain't broke, don't fox it.1 point

Some of you may know i've owned my 2006 IS250 for a very long time since approximately 2007 and in that time i've done quite a few facelift changes and mods to it. The most recent facelift was my 3IS custom bumper conversion back in 2015. Back in 2021 the chinese made a 4IS style conversion bumper for the 2IS. And after seeing this I was sold on getting one. Specially considering the 4IS isn't available in Europe/UK so it makes the design a lot more unique. I managed to get hold of a bumper from China and through a contact using their business shipping container. Finally managed to get the installation done and thought i'd share photos of my new facelift. I've also upgraded my OEM LED DRL Headlights to the new 4IS inspired design to compliment the front end design. There are quite a few new headlight designs from china for the IS250. The most popular being the version 1 VLAND headlights. I wasn't too keen on them because of square chrome bezels around the projector LED's. Then came out HC motion version which had an animated check/tick LED on top. I wasn't too keen on them either as the check mark didn't quite flow with anything. Then came the latest version which has the check mark full length running all the way down to the kink of the bumper spindle grille corner. I loved the look of this and had to get a pair. Wasn't very easy to source this particular design of headlight as it's too new and most sellers only have the LHD beam pattern version of these headlights. Eventually I found a factory that sold me a pair of RHD beam patterns. Few other things before the pics and video: I imported an OEM lexus short plate holder that comes as standard on the 2021 IS350 in america to mount onto this new bumper. I modified the OEM parking sensor and drilled hole on the bumper to get a flush parking sensor fitment I installed universal side splitters that fit this bumper perfectly. Purchased them for about £20 from eBay and had them painted even though it came in gloss black. I got fitment pretty much perfect. In my opinion it's sitting better than some OEM bumpers i've worked on for the IS250. It required quite a bit of adjustments to get it fitting perfect. And I had to order a specific headlight mounting bracket from the 2009-2010 IS250. This is the only bracket that works with this bumper. I've got some subtle eyebrows colour coded that I will be installing to give the headlights a slimmer look. The last two photos shows an example of the eyebrows temporarily placed on on headlight. I dont always get time to post on here. If you want to stay up-to-date with my work, you can check out my Instagram page where I have all my mods as story highlights. That's where I usually post most of my updates. My instagram link is at the bottom of my signature. Anyway, enough talking. Video highlight below, followed by some photos: Unfortuantely, even thought the bumper was inside a wooden casing, it still suffered a bit of damage where one corner got deformed. I managed to salvage this by re-forming ti with heat and getting the shape identical to the opposite side. Here a few pics of the universal front splitters: Here is a picture of the imported OEM Lexus 2021 IS350 plate holder from America. And here are the new headlights. Headlight video demo can be seen in my video demo above. Crash bar painted black so that I don't see any silver through the gaps Installed OEM foam strip on the corners1 point

If it's the "Continue" screen when you switch on just ignore it as it disappears after a few seconds and the Sat Nav screen appears and is normal. If it's some other screen on about profiles or similar then others have had it and it had to be reset at the dealer.1 point

I sat today in one 110GT at South Wales Car Show in Chepstow. Alpine Cardiff branch had one in green. I liked the interior and seating position. 1100kg sounds very interesting 😁 Exterior is like little Aston Martin. I’m going to book a test drive. Seems to be a great car.1 point

Interesting John & Chris. I know that Octopus have a somewhat cheaper tariff than 'Octopus GO' which I am on and gives me 9p per unit from 0030 to 0430. However, my understanding is that the 7.5p tariff is only available for those cars whose manufacturers have signed up to Octopus' clever smart arrangement, which Lexus have not. Chris, I also export excess solar, but am paid 70.71p per Kwh. We were lucky enough to get on original 'feed-in' tariff.1 point

My Tesco gold quote is £1042, NFU £1245, we are certainly being stung because of the thieving tow rags, good luck Ian, be interested to know the Chris Knott results? One Call insurance seem competitive, but again all Lloyds backed policies I suspect?1 point

Yeah, as the canbus tin plates are just, errr, tin plates they won’t be Thatcham approved and therefore no insurer will take them into account - this is the same as the Ghost type immobilisers - they’re not categorised under the Thatcham system. Unless EVERY single at-risk Lexus is protected AND theft rates go down AND insurers and the press and the public realise ANY Lexus is at no more risk than another manufacturers car we’re ALL stuck with insurers pricing in the high likelihood of theft, together with the resultant knock on effect on resale values. The only way that’ll happen is via Lexus’s ‘imminent’ solution (stop laughing at the back) protecting every affected car in the UK.1 point

I am a bit of a Honda fan (not sure if you can say that on here 😚) although I personally have never owned a Honda car. I still have a lawnmower and motorbikes which have been very reliable. Great to get a photo of 100,000. I'm sure I would have remembered at 100,003 🙈1 point

New review of the 300h, not Thomas presenting as usual, so not as thorough, but I think AJ does a pretty good job. Interesting to know they have added additional sound proofing.1 point

Civic perhaps? I’ve also had a few Honda - before moving to Lexus in 2016. They are great cars, well engineered and beautifully built. The interior materials aren’t as plush as a Lexus, but then the prices aren’t as ‘plush’ either! I’d have another Honda, and will likely end up with a Jazz at some stage once I’m drawing my pension 😇.1 point

….wow ! 😃 - 8.37 this morning, I am now granted The Explorer Badge ! Lexus Owner’s Club Suit’s - thank you - another badge to be worn with pride! I remember, when I was a Cub, 12, ( junior Boy Scout’s ) I was obsessed with the range of colourful ‘achievement badges’ to be worn on one’s sleeve’s of the dark green jumper ( remember those ? ). the best badge was for First Aid, bright white cross on bright red, triangular, backckground ! when Arkela was not looking I pinched that badge, and a handful of other’s, got my mum to sew them on both sleeve’s ( 😲) - no one ever said a word, not even mum ! ironically, have just attended a 2 day First Aid ( Driver’s ) Training Day and am now a fully qualified, certificated First Aider - what goe’s around, come’s around ! ( no bl**dy badge, though, wish I’d kept the old Cub one ! ☹️ ). anthony1 point

I had an Islander green 2002 Honda Stream 2.0 Auto. Great car. The kids loved the back seats and their own air con. Don’t know why they didn’t sell more. You didn’t see many in the road. Traded it in for a 2.4 auto accord but the road tax and mpg on that got too much so I got a Lexus CT. I would have another Honda if they did something other than an SUV.1 point

I must admit I didn't get a chance to phone my dealer as I suggested I would, but I will fire off an email later today and ask for an update. Having received my insurance renewal notice and with the premium increasing (to the penny) by exactly 100% I'm now more inclined to ask what the hell is going on. Darwin Insurance by the way and they are clearly applying greed inflation and in the process have taken on a new demeanour which I sensed last year and when I should have then told them to shove it. Curiously, my home insurers have gone one step further and upped their premium by 118% Cheerio RIAS I'm leaving you after 13 years and having never made a claim!1 point

I think the point about whether the UX is a 'family' car revolves not around how many people you can get inside the car but rather what you can get in the boot when you have four people inside the car! If you have two kids in the back and are going on holiday for a week, where are you going to stow all the gear and suitcases? It ain't all going to go in the boot! And don't forget the pushchair and a highchair as well every time you visit the in-laws..! That's why, IMHO, it won't work for a lot of one-car families. I used to be able to leave my golf bag and golf cart (trolly) in the boot of my RX450h all the time. Having down-sized to my UX - which I love - it's a different story and the rear seats have to go down every time. I knew that would be the case and accepted it.1 point

Better to have driven and sweated than never to have driven at all. Or something like that.1 point

May seem like an obvious question, but is the car running at the correct factory tyre pressures? Dealership have a habit of over inflating tyres when a car is serviced, not sure why. The first thing I do after a service is to lower them to the correct pressure as it makes a huge difference.1 point

Ryan, I agree, having never had a CVT before it’s a different feel, I would say for sure less responsive than a conventional gearbox….but CVT is considerably smoother feel. What we are finding is it requires a slight adjustment to driving style……1 point

My insurance renewal is at the end of the month. The notice came through today and was a pleasant surprise from Chris Knott who @RONNIE W HODGEKINSONrecommended on this forum last year… …my premium has gone down! Yes, you read that right…£55 cheaper than last year at £636 fully comprehensive and with business use included. Yes, in 2021 when I bought the RX my premium with MoreThan was £350, but even so…I’ll take that as a huge win (but will still try comparison sites to see if there are better deals, but I doubt it!). I was braced for a four figure number, and I don’t mean £99.99! 😁1 point
-
Well gentlemen, decision time is looming ! I definitely won’t do Nutshell, Marshmallow, or Hedgehog, and having scoured the comparison market, read reviews until I’m blue in the face, and studied the individual policies, that are available to an RX owner ( a lot ain’t) I have a choice of two policies. 1 Tesco Gold policy at £1062, their reviews are equivalent to the likes of Saga, Aviva and the like. 2 NFU Mutual policy at £1242, their reviews are top of the tree, and customer satisfaction is excellent for both customer service and claims satisfaction. This policy however does not contain as many features as the Tesco policy! I have to ask is the extra £220, for NFU and peace of mind, worth it over the Tesco policy 🤔🥴🤯 Where will you place your bets gentlemen, and by the way, any contributions greatly received 🤣😂1 point

They seem to offer it as an accessory now something that is not really needed but you can use it to achieve enhanced protection. Something like a plastic wrap around your suitcase at airports, or ceramic coating to protect your paint. A recall is normally only done if there is a safety concern and it looks like Lexus does not really know how to handle the situation. It is not a UK problem only but its spread worldwide in both Toyota and Lexus vehicles so Toyota Legal will have a major say in this as well and they could be afraid that if they recall all cars it will be seen as an admission. This will open the door to numerous claims from insurance companies and private individuals alike. I really feel they want to keep this under the radar as long as possible but you what happens with a smoldering fire don't you? So far for putting customer first and the relentless pursuit of perfection, all seems a long time ago. This will bite them hard if they don't fix it.1 point

rayaans- Where did you learn of CanBus thefts and Lexus providing the plates ? Why would a normal owner of a Lexus be aware of a post manufacture fitting of a security measure, other than by a recall. Keyless thefts have been all over the media for years and manufacturers have changed key devices etc as did Lexus. It’s because Keyless became more secure the thieves found and exploited the CanBus vulnerability. Newspapers and other media explained how keyless theft works and how to overcome it. In all the articles I have read about Lexus having the 2nd highest theft rate, none of them mentioned CanBus attacks so normal owners assume it is Keyless. Other than on these type of forums / websites no media has broadcast or informed about CanBus thefts. Lexus aren’t going to, as that just attracts even more thefts. I think it is wrong to suggest that the owner is in any way responsible for a theft because they didn’t have a little known post manufacturing device fitted - that is a small step away from saying insurers shouldn’t pay out if an owner hasn’t taken every single measure to prevent a theft.1 point
-
I think a very small subset of Lexus owners use or read this forum (and why should they - for most people it is a way of getting form A to B - they are not enthusiasts). I don't think it is reasonable to expect an owner of a pretty new vehicle to know that a security enhancement has been made to their vehicle if neither the dealer of manufacturer has alerted them to the fact.1 point

You definitely don't need to code the battery to the car. It's stop/start cars that need this doing.1 point

JD, Mine was stolen from outside my home on Friday night, also in Surrey. Curious to know where you are based… CANbus plates were due to be fitted after Lexus cancelled on me the day of installation so had to book another slot which was this week coming. Sorry for your loss, I know the pain all too well0 points
