Okay Bill.. Lexus cars Have a higher Risk of being Stolen But ALL cars Are at Risk But does that Give them Licence to Hugely Increase Everybody who Owns a Lexus .Its just another Excusal SCAM To Rip people off ...3 points

Good news. The quote from Lexus was for ยฃ515 so just a small increase from last year ๐3 points

Wrapping the dash and window switch panels has been done many times over the years, itโs all down to personal preference. For me I like the "classic" dark wood look, yet others like a more modern carbon fibre look.3 points
-
That's the thing about wrapping. It is easily removed with a hot air gun and you would never have known it was there. I always wanted to preserve the originally of my car so every thing I have done is easily reversed except for the reversing sensors excuse the pun. I appreciate a lot of people want to keep their cars standard. and that's great. Personally I think it will only ever be a classic until when there are not that many left on the road. The truth is most of my older friends are into British classics and younger ones into fast BMW;s etc. The SC does nothing for them and they would never buy one. I love mine but confess if I hadn't bought an RX first the SC would never have been on my radar either. Thankfully I did and think it is a wonderful car that is way under looked and under rated like a lot of Lexus models like the IS and F versions.2 points
-
Each to their own I suppose, but imo the sc will be a true classic one day, appreciate what it is and and the unquestionable quality, I don't think anyone would recover the dash on a Bentley let's say, and to me the sc finish is not far off that standard, just my opinion of course ๐2 points

Work on the house has progressed massively, stairs and kitchen is in. New master bed room suite looks amazing, and we might even have completion date soon :). We also ended up wasting some money on something totally unnecessary but so much fun for the garden :)2 points

I like the dark wood as well but really dislike the yellow looking wood finish mine has hence the reason for wrapping it. I donโt like the pie plates either but I know a lot of people do like them.2 points

Yes will definitely do a guide or a video. Just waiting for the weather to be more conducive. Its just been so cold lately. I seem to have figured out how to do it in theory at least. When i actually go to do it, as is often the case, new hurdles show up. This engine just seems so DIY friendly that im tempted to keep it forever.2 points

Service managers are required to upsell in order to try and meet targets. Two of the most common items you have mentioned - tracking and air con re-gassing. Easy money for the dealership and the customer will never know if these items were completed or not. The other common advisory / campaign for additional work - brake discs and pads. The usual speech, " Your brake pads are 50% worn".1 point

Isf is a stiff car to begin with. Imo, there is only a fine margin between less stiff and more stiff with the different spring rates. I am on kwv3 and on hindsight, I should have gone for something stiffer like hks hypermax to optimise the drive.1 point

Definitely sounds like overinflated. Mine and others on here were also overinflated. John on here said it was normal as they overinflated them for the long sea journey and theyโre not checked before handover. I also swapped the Dunlops for Mitchelin Cross Climates and they much quieter on my 20โ.1 point

Managed to find the answer. โFrom the side, lower 'Electric' badges are one of the few giveaways to this model's BEV status; that and the fact that it has two 'filler' flaps, one for a Type 2 charger on the driver's side and one for a fast-charge CHAdeMO plug on the near side. โ1 point

When the comparison sites first appeared, I found myself hunting through all those small print pdf files to establish what, exactly, I'd be covered for. What I found was that the cover being offered on the comparison site was less comprehensive that the insurer's own direct website. Basically, to look competitive and appear in the top results, something had to give. Most people don't read the small print so they got away with it. I have no idea whether they operate in the same (underhand) way now but I have better things to do with my time than read all the small print so I no longer use the comparison sites. Maybe I'm losing out; maybe the companies behave more ethically these days; but then again, maybe pigs really do fly!1 point

The last 7 weeks have been a complete nightmare. Forensics we're finally done and I was allowed to collect my belongings from the pound, but wasn't allowed to see the car. Only thing they took was my dashcam. The car was moved on Monday just gone (22 April) to the repair place, and I was finally able to see my car. There is no damage, and wires have been pulled in the boot and carpets in front under the dash. She drives too which surprised me. So now I wait for a few scratches to be repaired, wiring put back, then I'll get my car back probably in about 2 weeks or so. Insurance sent my documents and keys back, reinstated insurance and I've re-taxed the car.1 point

Yes only once tested the yellow light whilst in France. Kept me worried but made it to a LeClerk without difficulty. Had delivered today this pack of drill bits which look excellent value at ยฃ5. The 'bay link is too long so check out with this title as 4,900 items under DeWalt "Dewalt Dt71567-Qz Drill And Screwdriver Bit Set 16 Piece, Black"1 point

That is not true. The NX450h+ in the USA is also made in Japan. 2022 models were also made in Japan and it's part of this extended warranty program.1 point

Have you checked that the tyre pressures are not over inflated ?1 point

If you have the SC430 mods reversing camera kit it is pretty much an easy install as it just plugs into the sat nav unit in the boot and then just two wires to the camera. That one is designed specifically to fit to a SC430. A video on YouTube shows how to do it. If itโs just a reversing camera the installer is going to have to work out how to fit it and modify the wiring accordingly.1 point

Wheel alignment / tracking is often influenced by the state of the roads youโre driving on and that impact on your tyres, steering set-up whatever โฆโฆ. and at the tiny mileage covered you might not even see undue tyre wear either โฆ. Yet โฆ. Might be the service guys are recommending as theyโre just touting for business whatever It used to be that if there was nowt wrong then the checking wasnโt charged for โฆโฆ youโd get a printout showing green and red indicators and green at the final printout when all adjusted โฆโฆ.. Often the rear adjustments are just a little unnecessary ( over the top ) as that wonโt affect your steering โฆโฆ.. On this basis you might want to have it checked out at an independent tyre place that does tracking etc AND not charge if thereโs nowt to be adjusted ! Youโll see by the printouts Iโve mentioned The air con re-charge โฆโฆ seems OTT to my mind too ๐ค Good luck ! Malc1 point

Whatever the make, model, area or usage it is sad but true that NCD and 'clean driving' seems not to contribute to premium calculation as much as it used to. In fact Nick, as it appears you must be in or near your 70s, your age will have begun to influence your premium now ... and certainly not to your advantage!1 point

Thank you Jon, I replaced the FP relay today and have driven about 20 miles and so far so good (knock on wood). The weather was a bit cooler than normal so I am going to test the vehicle out good in a few days once warmer. Should the problem show itself then, I will post back. Thanks again Lexus Owners Club ๐ฌ๐ง!!! Sincerely, Craig Rogers1 point

First time I have driven the SC and XK on back to back days. If I had to sum up the comparison with just one word to describe each car they would be; SC Silky XK Brutish I like both for the clear difference in driving experience.1 point

Hi HM, MMI unit ordered, awaiting delivery. I have found a local (Herts) installer, who seem to know what they are doing. I will keep this thread updated. I am amazed that no-one seems to have done this yet in the UK. My current work around, of use car's sat nav, and blue-tooth music to the car, using the phone for track listing, is primitive at best, and I cannot use my speed camera bot at the same time. Hello everyone. Became an LBX driver at the end of March. Fortunate enough to have a Dealer prepared to sell a showroom car which exactly met spec and colour we were looking for and therefore avoided the 3 month wait of a factory order. Early days yet and havenโt driven many miles but so far delighted with the car.1 point

That's my RX450h+ one month old now and 665 miles on the clock. First refuel today with just under quarter of a tank indicated. Ignoring electricity charging consumption was over 82mpg but with the cost of charging (at off peak rate) converted to what that equates to in petrol the overall result is in excess of 62mpg. As expected its down on what I was achieving from my previous NX450h+ (72mpg) but better than I had thought so very pleased.1 point

I don't do a lot of miles - usually around 6k per year and these are mostly short journeys so I change the oil every 6 months as I think it needs it. I have just changed it for the winter now and below is a guide on what's required and how to do it. PICTURE 1 - The picture shows the parts required to do the oil change: OIL CATCH CAN - there's 6 litres of oil to replace so make sure the can size is adequate to hold 6 litres else you will find there's one hell of a mess to clean up after. Use an old oil container half way through the change just to make sure the original container does not overflow and you will be fine. OIL - I have previously used Castrol Edge 5w/30 but this time I am using Castrol Magnatec 5w/30 (A1 type for fords but its compatible for the A5 Lexus type of oil - theres no reason for the change, I thought I would compare both as I had kept a record from the last change of how long the Edge took to discolour and also go down. It makes sense to purchase the two 4 litre tubs rather than a 4litre and 2 x 1litre tubs. 4 litre costs ยฃ31 and a 1 litre costs ยฃ12 so do the math and its more cost effective. OIL FILTER - this is the paper type and not the filter "in a can" type - make sure it has a new rubber "O" ring and also an oil sump plug washer. The sump washer will more than likely be supplied seperately TOOLS - Size 10mm and 14mm sockets / Oil filter removal tool. You wont need any other tools to do the oil change. ENGINE FLUSH - this is your choice - personally I think its a good idea to flush the engine when changing the oil as it removes the crud with the oil when draining it. I use Wynns engine flush and have done so for a good few years. You are basically cleaning your engine by changing the oil so you want to give it every chance of being clean. I do and have had no issue with it. So you now have the parts ... 1/ You can get to the sump plug and the oil filter without raising the car but I like to have a bit of room to do the work so I drive up onto 4 x 4" solid breeze blocks (one on each corner of the car) - this gives plenty of room to get under the car to move around etc ... you can use ramps or if you have a pit in your garage that's ideal. PICTURE 2 - The first job to do is locate the plastic oil cover housing and remove it using the 10 mm socket, there are 3 to remove, they secure the plastic assess cover to the plastic under shield so shouldn't be hard to remove. Once this is removed it will reveal the oil filter housing 2/ Once you have removed the cover and located the oil filter housing your first job is to loosen (slightly) the filter housing with the special tool - This needs to be the first job as there have been reports of this being applied too tightly on the previous oil change and its a nightmare to remove. If you skip this part and add the engine flush first and then find you cant remove the housing cap after then you will be driving around with degraded oil in the car. PICTURE 3 shows the oil filter housing and PICTURE 4 shows the application of the tool to remove the housing cover. Once you know the cover can be loosened then tighten it back up. 3/ At this point I pour the engine flush into the engine oil and run the car at 2000 revs for 20 minutes. Once the 20 minutes are over locate the sump plug - size 14mm socket PICTURE 5 - First, unscrew the oil filler cap in the engine, this will allow the oil to flow freely through the sump plug - next place the oil catch can under the oil sump plug and slowly undo this nut - the oil will be hot so be careful - the oil, if undoing the nut slowly will initially dribble out - you can judge the flow by undoing it a bit more each time until you are able to catch all of it with the nut off - half way through change the catch cans over so the used oil does not overflow. Once the oil has drained and leaving the sump plug off for the time being remove the oil filter housing cover - there WILL be oil released when doing this - Approx one large cup full so make sure to catch this in a container. Once the filter is off its quite self explanatory - replace the filter - replace the rubber seal ring on the housing cover (replacement should have come with the new filter) - rub a small amount of oil around the new seal and re-fit. Clean around the cover. Next replace the sump plug making sure to use the new washer. Clean around the nut. Re-fill the engine with oil - put the full 4 litre tub of oil in at first then check for leaks around the filter cap and sump plug - place a further 1.5 litres in, leave to settle for a few hours and then top up as necessary. Time to do the job - including the 20 minutes running time with the flush in the engine should be 40 to 60 minutes - cost of the job ยฃ70 max with 2 litres of oil to spare and you can re re-assured you have used the good stuff in the engine. Count in the cost of two beers then its a good job done. ! Dipstick before and after pictures 6 and 71 point

That's exactly what my wife said along with poor support for her legs. I also found the drivers seat okay but of course the driver sits differently because of pedal position etc.0 points
