Steering wheels dont make that sound normally. Maybe check to see if something is fouling between the steering and dash i.e change the position of the steering wheel if its that you should not hear the sound after changing the position. Else its better to get the dealer to investigate. From what i understand even though you might want to claim warranty they charge an hour or so of labour to diagnose the fault and if there is no fault you have to pay else if there is a fault and you're covered then they sort it out with the warranty without you having to pay3 points

Spoke to my dealer today and he confirmed that the Lexus Reserve package is available to existing RZ owners. You can have a hybrid car for up to 42 days in 3 years free - they have had this in the US since launch to ease range anxiety ! https://www.lexus.co.uk/lexus-reserve1 point

Hi Ken R, Just visiting from the NX forum! 😁 I had the tyre & alloy wheel insurance on the last NX (and now on my new one). I made a claim on the first car as I had a tyre replaced due to a puncture. They paid out without fuss the max of £250 per claim - just one word of warning, if claiming for a new tyre, make sure you download the claim form and follow the instructions BEFORE you get the tyre fitted. I didn't and had to revisit the dealer to get photos and sign off by the service team. I can't get the minor repair insurance as the small print says if you use the car for business you aren't covered - I have business use on my insurance as I travel to meetings with clients. You more 'mature' folk are alright. 😄1 point

Echo this - waited 14 months - ending with deceptive practice from the dealer trying to fob me off by changing interest rate supposedly locked in at 3.8% to 11.9%. I smiled and paid cash. The look on their faces, I will never forget. Love the car but lost all trust in Lexus dealers.1 point

Living with an EV is not as bad as it sounds depending on your circumstances. My experience with a UX300e (2022 model). Just pottering around town to the shops and going locally I do about 100 miles a week, so charge once a week overnight at cheap rate. In March we did go from Crewe to Stroud (120 miles) and made it in one jump. The low battery light came on just as we got to Stroud, and we had the aircon off for a bit on the motorway. I then charged up on one of the most expensive rapid chargers (£30) and two hours later was full. Cost about the same as petrol 25p per mile. The problem I have is that you can’t do day trips further than about 60 miles without having to charge on the way back or whilst you are there. The places we want to go don’t have chargers at the destination, so it would mean stopping on the way back to charge up. Things you take for granted in a petrol car. For example if I wanted to go to the RSPB reserve at Llandudno. They don’t have a charger there and I am nervous about getting there and back (140 miles) on one charge (Full range is 165 miles allegedly!). One option could be to park in the Llandudno Tesco and charge up, whilst we walk to the RSPB reserve. Zap map shows four chargers all of unknown status and two showing as available 1 or 2 weeks ago. So you are not sure if they are free and working, or alternatively I could go on the train and pay £3 in the station car park and £30 for a train ticket. Would my next car be an EV? Probably not unless you could guarantee charging at your destination. At the moment I think the best option is the plug in Hybrid if you can keep hold of it. Or could Lexus Reserve come to the rescue for planned trips?1 point

Hi Craig. I had a 92 400LS since new and sold it a couple of years ago with 22k on the clock. I had the issue you describe and eventually tracked it down to a failing denso supplied unit located on the o/s front strut inside the engine compartment and underneath the fuel pump relay. They are only fitted to the 89 to 92 models and their power values changed after this time. They have not been available from Toyota world wide for quite some time. I bought three s/h units from the USA as I did not wish to scrap a virtually as new car for the sake of a virtually unobtainable spare resistor. I sold the car three years ago and still have two spare resistors on a shelf. The numbers on your old unit in your 91 should have the part numbers below. TOYOTA. 23080-50011. 196170-0150 073 061 15. Denso. MADE IN JAPAN. You could give me a call at 07850-400100 if you think I can help further.? Graham Mc1 point

My RX450h has started making a similar sound, just the last couple of days. Only noticeable at slow speed, manoeuvring onto the driveway, parking etc.. My initial thoughts are a dry rubber bush or gaiter. I know the Merc I had sometimes suffered from this and it was the sound insulating bushing as the steering column passes through the bulkhead. The car is due a service soon and I'll get the dealer to sort it as it's not that irritating and I'm sure they have come across it many times before and will know exactly what to apply and where.1 point

Hi Leigh. Willydoit posted an excellent fix for this problem back in 2015 on this forum. Search "volume buttons". It worked for me! Good luck1 point

GS300 Calipers you can pick up for £150-200 for the pair. Pads / Discs are pretty much the same money as IS250 stuff. I think the only extra you'll have to buy is the dust shield if you want it. That's comes up to £18.50 each on Amayama from japan.1 point

Actually went back to them and got it down to £947 eventually ,still enough but better1 point

Cheers mate, I was more used to a horrible screeching noise from the brake pad wear indicators. I’ll probably use the standard pads and discs I’ve got this time around and next time consider a big brake upgrade!1 point

Sounds normal if you're due pads change. While you change the discs and pads, grease up the slider pins and you'll be alright 🙂1 point

There are so many "things" under the bonnet other than the engine so it could be one of these "things" making a normal noise. When parked up you could try starting the engine and open the bonnet and try to locate the noise. As I said, it is probably a "normal" noise.1 point

It's very easy to install Ronnie, takes about 5 minutes tops. It doesn't drain the 12V battery and one of the sensors even shows current battery voltage. I initially took out the 24 month subscription but I think I'll go for 36 months next time as it means you avoid any price increases. Highly recommended my friend.1 point

There's a guy on Instagram (Salondon). I would find him ans ask him. He is a wizard with the IS and electronics, installing RCF seats into his IS. He would be my first port of call.1 point

A rather short sighted view IMHO. You bought a car not an app and the car functions very well regardless of the app. I'm sure they will iron out the bugs eventually1 point

I ordered the only LC500 Ultimate Edition Coupe a couple of weeks ago which was already in the UK in their depot. Waiting to collect in the next few days. Dealership told me that this is the last coupe that arrived in the UK and production has stopped. I was mostly looking for the panoramic 360 camera and trouchscreen is the bonus.1 point

I've had an NX450h+ since August 2023 which was paired with an iPhone 8. The reading of whatsapp messages, and responses was working perfectly. Last month I replaced my phone with an iPhone 13 and have just discovered the problem others are describing. The car fails to read any messages properly, or send messages. I assume the fact the problem has started since changing the phone is unlikely to be a coincidence.1 point

Sorry to hear you have the same issue, LCY. By way of update my car went in to Lexus yesterday for them to supposedly fix the issue. Unsurprisingly they told me it was done but they just hadn't understood the issue or tried out one of their phones to see it for themselves until I went to collect the vehicle when they came to the car to try the remedy which I'd already tried (update iOs to 17.2 which I'd done, delete and re-pair phone). The guy who then tried the solution which of course failed, then called a supervisor or senior technician who seemed to know all about the issue, said that Apple CarPlay and Siri clash with the current Lexus software, that there is a new update to that software which is being trialled in Spain, France and Germany and once the testing is complete and no issues found, will be rolled out to the UK and other countries. They suggested 2-3 weeks. I'm not optimistic but of course have no choice other than to now wait. I said I'd give it until end of January and then contact them if there has been no update. All very annoying actually as I knew this would happen (although thought they'd blame Apple but actually they accepted it was a Lexus issue as well) and that's why I asked to speak to the team before the hassle of taking the car in and why didn't they check with the senior guy to start with? Do let me and the rest of us know if you get anywhere with your enquiries. Jakes.1 point

Hi Andrew - yes apologies, I should have mentioned that I had already tried that 'fix' without any success. Thanks. Leigh.0 points

I got that email too. £60k for a car that can only do 200 miles (or day trips up to 100 miles) and then takes 10 hours to charge. My cheap rate electric is only from 00:00 to 05:00 so you would be charging at 50% battery, so only a range of 100 miles (or up to 50 miles day trips). That’s about the same as my UX.0 points

Wish this was available sooner, but it might help set expectations about charging and range https://www.lexus.co.uk/new-cars/rz?Category=ALL-NEW RZ, SUV,ELECTRIC&ac=C8924&mc=E05&URN=455721&utm_campaign=C8924&utm_source=CRM&utm_medium=email&utm_content=E05#charging-calculator0 points

That is indeed rare Malc, every LS400 I have looked at over the years has had water ingress in some form or another. i.e. boot seal, sunroof drain pipes not located correctly, antennae drain missing or draining into the boot, holes in the rear inner wings to name a few. Some worse than others, 'swimming pools' in the boot (wheel well or the pockets at the side) to 'tell tale signs' that water has been present at some point like the spare wheel in a mess with corrosion and white crud on the inside of the wheel. Maybe not puddles of water but condensation and dampness means there is moisture present somewhere or has been.0 points
