I know this subject has had a lot of attention. However, I just wanted to share my experience of this and it may help someone else. As documented in another post about my current car over the last 2 years or so, the boot was leaking into the spare wheel well when I first bought the car. I removed the old seal, cleaned, sorted all the rusty areas (the lip in the boot lock area was quite rusty with a small hole) and then painted the lip areas and fitted a new boot seal (still available at the time) Lip in the boot latch area after painting etc and before the new seal: I left all the boot trim out the car for quite a while to make sure it wasn't leaking. All good and I've been in and out of the wheel well to get the locking wheel nut on lots of occasions over the last 2 years. A few weeks ago I went into the boot under the floor to get the locking wheel nut, to my surprise and horror the area was very wet and the cardboard box for the locking wheel nut was soaking. Removed everything and left it all to dry, it wasn't a swimming pool in the wheel well but it was wet and the spare tyre was all wet . First reaction was, maybe I have been too vigorous with the power washer when rinsing off the snow foam when I washed it. So I left everything out of the boot and washed the car as normal, looked in the boot, it was dry and I couldn't see any water so it wasn't the power washer rinsing and 'forcing' water into the boot. I left the main plastic boot trim off the car so I could get to the boot lid catch area to see where the water was getting in, during the last few weeks I kept checking and sure enough it was leaking in behind the boot lid catch area, running down onto the wiring bracket and dripping into the wheel well. So it's the classic place for the issue. The dilemma was, do I remove the boot seal and 'seal' it all with something? It's a new boot seal, although it's 2 years old, and I didn't fancy that idea at all. I figured that my issue was the lip around the boot latch area that was rusted in the beginning, it wasn't great when I got the car, and isn't sealing correctly even with a new boot seal. Long story short, the lip wasn't flat in this area so - seal completely removed - straightened the lip, cleaned all round the boot lip (it's shocking how much crud accumulates in 2 years), refitted the seal and left it off the affected area round the boot lock - applied some black CT1 sealant to top of the lip in this area - pushed the seal back on and applied a small amount of CT1 on the inside and wiped off any excess. I prefer to use CT1 because it remains pliable and, in my opinion, is the best stuff to use on rubber seals/trims etc. because it sets like rubber. Pic below shows the area. Few weeks have passed with washing, driving and bad rainy/stormy weather. No leak so far and I'm pretty sure I would have seen anything leaking in. I also pulled the seal away further along periodically to see if the water was creeping along but it was all good and dry. While I was at it, I also re positioned the boot seal so one of the notches on the outer side of the seal was in line with the centre of the boot latch, something I saw on the Car Care Nut channel for the 600,000 miles Lexus. I had previously positioned the 'join' in line with the centre of the boot latch with the 2 x notches positioned equidistant along the bottom. Maybe the boot seal wasn't in the correct position, either way it looks ok now but time will tell and I thought is was cured 2 years ago.1 point

LEM's parts are expensive in general. No reasoning behind it really. For reference, their bog standard black ISF front grill is over £400 (plastic!). I guess they base the price of their parts similar to that of Ohlins and OEM. Not to say they're not worth it, but I think the expense is name only and I say this because their incredibly expensive titanium intake elbow is not a reccomended part for more power (by my tuner).1 point

Sounds normal if you're due pads change. While you change the discs and pads, grease up the slider pins and you'll be alright 🙂1 point

I wouldn't know, best ask Lexus. But, I doubt it, as they are a wear & tear part on a 6 year old car, also depends on mileage.1 point

Lexus insurance quoted me £13,200 for the first year of ownership back in 2020. Ended up with the AA for £900.00.1 point

Sounds like one of your CV joints is on the way out. front wheel drive, you are likely hearing a failing half shaft on on side of the car or the other. The creaking and clicking comes from the worn out components of one or the other CV joints on the half shaft which connects the transaxle to the front wheels1 point

It is quite difficult to get the motors out and even when you do, they will sometimes turn when not fitted and not turn when fitted due to the friction/load of the mechanism. Unfortunately the motors get weak with age and need to be replaced. With all of the plastic off you can turn the shafts that the motors attach to by hand if you need to position your steering but it is fiddly and slow. I wouldn't waste money on motors from breakers as they may or may not work when under load (unless you get some kind of guarantee). New they are about £200 per motor.1 point

Anyway enough of this girly " I've got a sports copulator" malarky. Have you seen this dramatic world shattering news in the Daily expressrag this morning. Forget Gaza, forget Iran, look at this headline today - it's absolutely terrifying. What an awful thing to do and with cheese as well! It does not say what sort of cheese it was but it was probably French. Angry driver throws cheese on neighbour's vehicle from balcony in epic parking row A road user has opened up on a dramatic parking battle between two neighbours which quickly escalated out of control.1 point

My wife has just ordered a new LBX Takumi in White, with Saddle Tan interior, so we would be interested to know how you get on with it.1 point

Thanks Barry - hope it goes well, keep us posted! My 6+6 Y splitter has arrived a day early, and was a doddle to fit, plug and play 🙂 There's a bit of a lip on the back of the stereo, so I tucked the splitter cable behind that, and traced the Bluetooth dongle to the side and all the way down, to rest on insulation padding behind the lowest wooden panel on the dash (heated seats controls, etc.). Ignition on - nav screen came back to life, as did the reverse camera and volume controls work again - result! Paired the phone again, double tap on the CD button and it worked right away. The sound quality is brilliant, as good as any FLAC files on my CDs, very happy with the way it turned out. Steering controls work too - up and down to skip tracks, and there's zero input delay, it just works! I've turned the engine off fully, then back on and it started playing again, without me having to touch anything, as close to OEM as you can get 🙂1 point

I had one as well for 3 years and loved it as well. Sold it in 1974 to put the money towards getting married and buying a house. Down graded to a Singer Chamois I paid £30 for.1 point

Looks great! I haven't yet reached the heady heights of 38.7 but its steadily rising. Some milder weather will help! The range is pretty exact whereas the NX450h+ which I had previously was rather optimistic particularly in cold weather. Happy motoring!1 point

Check to see if your engine has D4S i.e direct and port injection. I had this on my is300h a while ago it sounded like a lifter tick on cold starts and lasted more than a few seconds and would not be present when the engine was warm. Was told that its normal and is because of the engine switching to direct injection under certain conditions. The noise was most likely the high pressure fuel pump or the injectors themselves.1 point

The different ways in which rice is cooked in various culinary traditions could well be a useful subject for a PhD thesis. Suffice it to say, in the present context, that connoisseurs of risotto consider dishes like paella, pilafs, pulau/biryani and the like, in which the rice is left to take care of itself, to be barbaric. As regards MrsT’s observation, it could be said that her tendency in late career to use metaphors rather than direct statements to explain non-actions marked, alas, the beginning of the end of an otherwise glorious reign.1 point

Congratulations. I'm sure you wont regret it. With regards to insurance, don't disregard trying Lexus Motor Insurance. Despite some owners on here being quoted quite astronomical figures by them, I personally have found them to be quite competitive (both on my previous 2018 NX and my current 2022 model). They offer repairs by Lexus approved body-shops using genuine Lexus parts. Also don't forget that the true value of an insurance company, regardless of cost or other factors, only comes to light when you need to make a claim.1 point

New assignment with work which is sudden and unexpected , I will be away for months , just couldn’t justify leaving my beloved is250 sitting in garage , I did consider storage and keeping hold of it but just didn’t make sense , the car is now 12 years old and as great as it is time to move on , someone is going to get a wonderful buy ! Sold to trade for speed and no fuss . I’ll keep a keen eye on forum. ,plan is to buy another Lexus end of year. If I can find a low mileage super mint newer shape 250 then that will suit , or it may have to be another brand sadly , as I just do not want a CVT box or a hybrid , not for as long as I can avoid doing so. thank you for all the advice .1 point

Well all, for better or worse I've almost completed the Rear Screen. I have no room for any Chrome but the beading of butyl is yt to be added and the boot end has to adhere to the platic rail. Before obvious critisism of the work in my defence I've laid awake for almost two months of incessant rain and dry and its been difficult to make progress. Couple this with the fact that I have advanced prostate Cancer, Lymphodeama , DVT and Bilateral Nephrostomys to my kidneys and you will understand wht I'v had to go through becuase of spiteful youths. Its wonky I know. The frivoulous fringe at the bottom is because I cut the material too short but couldnt start all over againand was too lazy to cut it off. Gives it a feminine feel! . I put the wrong side outer and not the rain proof side which meant I had to melt some silicone with white spirit and brush it all over to ensure rain runs off. I have yet to also stick it down to the plastic rail that crosses the boot. I've today glued it to the Cork and need wait 24 hours before finishing. The only Cabrio LS400 in existence?1 point

Hi Craig and welcome to the LOC. The fuel pump should be fed with a constant 12 Volts supply when running under load. I would check the B+ incoming supply to the fuel pump relay and then check the output voltage to the pump both of which should be at full battery voltage. I would suspect either a faulty relay or a bad connection to it, the pins are known for corrosion issues. The basic diagram below shows the power routing to the pump. I’m not sure if there is another relay the same in the fusebox which you could try swopping over to see if it cures the fault or you could strap the B+ connection to the FP connection in the diagnostic socket to TEMPORARILY bypass the relay. If you need further help please ask1 point

I called Adrian Flux for insurance for a imported 2015 IS350 F sport got quoted 10k 🤣1 point

It's very easy to install Ronnie, takes about 5 minutes tops. It doesn't drain the 12V battery and one of the sensors even shows current battery voltage. I initially took out the 24 month subscription but I think I'll go for 36 months next time as it means you avoid any price increases. Highly recommended my friend.1 point

After LV saying they won’t renew my 2026 RX450h I have just renewed through Money Supermarket at Churchill for next month at £715. Thats with 9 years no claims and parked in the road outside my house so I am well pleased. Bizarrely I tried going to Churchill direct and it was £200 more. I also tried Ageas but they wanted £1800 for the same cover. There just seems to be no logic for the wide range of pricing out there.0 points

For note I gave the car away due to lack of time , they currently have it for sale on their website to quote “ the best example in UK “ quite a big mark up they have put on it . Could have sold it to multiple people at work but then I’d have to see it all the time when back which would likely induce much regret 🙁.0 points
