Thank you very much so far. Yes I’ve just been reading up about the security issue. It has apple play and has been serviced by Lexus. There were two advisories in the last MOT for tyre wear front. So making sure I hold them to the sword to replace those tyres.5 points

In the past I've always asked things like does the dealership know if the car has been smoked in previously, or been used to carry pets by the previous owner(s), if these things are an issue for you. But as others have said, a 2020 car should mostly be in very good condition.3 points

I would echo the comments made by @Steve Oliver regarding a service and the Relax warranty. Also make sure that they do the hybrid battery health check at the same time. Also ask whether it has had the the multimedia software upgrade for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (if that's a priority for you). It should be eligible for the upgrade but whether it has been done is another question. If not, ask them to do it as part of the deal (as it can be expensive to do after the purchase). You might already be aware that this version of the NX300h is susceptible to the CANBUS method of theft (if you're not aware then take a look at the associated post at the top of the forum listing). Would be good for you to mention this to the salesman so that if you do buy the car you're ahead of the game with respect to the forthcoming security enhancements. I owned a 2018 NX300h with similar mileage for 3 years and it was trouble-free.3 points

Hi @Niskus I'm about 30 miles from Lex Tec and used them recently for my timing belt and pump changed. I think you're (as am I) onto a winner here with Dave at Lex Tec. I was actually gonna suggest him but didn't know how far away you were. No, you're not talking to yourself as often the threads get read with any replies as there simply isn't anything constructive to add from the members. Glad you're sorted...3 points

I think the 2nd Gen NXs have to beep at least 30 times per drive, so if they haven't all been used up during normal driving conditions, any excess beeps are discharged once the journey has finished.2 points

I would give it a good check over inside and out. It has fairly low mileage so should be in good condition. I would try to get a price reduction or good trade in price (which is not always easy 🙄)2 points

Yes I have an email now from them saying they will replace the tyres. Average price for the car on research is up to about £25000. They want nearly 28000!2 points

I had a NX300H for 4 years and 32000 miles - trouble free. Averaged over 40mpg throughout my ownership. Definitely check tyre wear although I didn't need to replace mine but believe the dealer did change the fronts prior to resale.2 points

Congratulations! Frankly I don't think there are any "main issues" for the car at that age. Mine is similar model and mileage and 2019 and all good. They should have serviced it (ensure) and therefore it will have a 10000 mile 1 year Relax warranty already if they're not offering you more. So just check this. Otherwise - enjoy! 🙂2 points

Picked up my SC 430 from Elite Motor Company on Thursday morning. Drove from Croydon to Newcastle on Thursday, Newcastle to Edinburgh on Friday. I've also had a little blast around some local roads today. I had a little concern about water coming from the bottom of the engine bay but it turned out to be nothing to worry about - just the A/C condensation pipe working as expected. I'm impressed with the car. It's very smooth, very refined. For reference I have previously owned a 996 Generation 911 C2 and a V6 Hyundai Coupe which in some ways the SC 430 reminds me of but it is in other ways very different. It takes very, very little effort to go from 50 or 60 to 80 mph+ if you are not careful. Compared to a 996/911 it is very quiet even with your foot to the floor, but it is not as 'nibble' round the B roads which in fairness is what you would expect as the SC 430 is more a cruiser type of car than an all out sports car. The slightly poor (if I'm honest) turning circle reminded me of my V6 Hyundai Coupe, but you can tell the built quality of the Lexus is vasty superior to the Hyundai of the same age / vintage. I would prefer if the exhaust had more 'note' considering it is a V8, but I fully understand that was a design decision from Lexus to make the car as quiet as possible. I have been pleasantly surprised at the MPG (28 ish) on a motorway run which is actually the same as the 996/911 would do. I love the 'LEXUS' lights on the floor when you open the car in the dark. I find the hopelessly outdated sat nat adorable, and the seats and steering wheel feel great. I do have some niggles that I have spotted in my first 500 miles with the car: - The dreaded 'ERROR 4' message. I can it to bugger off by using the 'SHIP' mode reset but it's annoying as it always comes back. - The tape player sounds like my tapes are being played underwater (dirty tape head?). - I can't get a very good visual angle from the passenger side mirror, when I try move it electronically closer to me it 'springs' back to a middle / far away visual position. Is the motor bad, or is a clip behind the mirror glass possibly broken or something like that? - The passenger door foot level speaker (behind the fluffy cover) 'pops' during big bass noses which is annoying. I'm never going to enjoy Groove Armanda like this. I suspect that speaker needs replaced. - The brakes are fierce / work great, but they do make a squeak sound from cold that seems to go away once they have warmed up a bit. However, there seems to be a lot of life left on the pads so I don't know what's going on there. So, I'll get the brakes checked professionally when I get the timing belt and water pump done in a couple of months. I need to replace one speaker and the cd changer unit, and find some sort of fix for the passenger side mirror. All in all though, really not too bad for a car that has done 167,000 miles and is 19 years old. Looking forward to getting to know the car better and going on more adventures 😃2 points

There have been a number of occasions over the years, that the LS400 has surprised me with a feature I was unaware of, today was another. Forgive me if this is already common knowledge and I'm a dumbass. If you put the climate control onto recirculate, then press and hold auto for a few seconds a menu pops up on the main screen, giving you the ability to change the sensitivity of the air quality detection used to activate the switch from fresh air to recirculate. Well I never knew!1 point

It was a real pleasure to meet Scott and Shawn (guys hope I got your names right) at Japfest today, what a couple of nice guys with great cars also. I think they may have thought me an 'F badge' non-V8 owner (or 'ISF groupie') with aspirations for owning an ISF, but here I am guys just to prove otherwise, LOL! 🙂 BTW, we got talking and I mentioned one of the early UK ISF owners who did a lot of mods to his car, including putting gauges where the air vents are in the middle of the dash new seats and range of other stuff, he also worked with Hayward & Scott in their X-pipe exhaust for the ISF (unless that was someone else). I think he lived in Kent, but I've forgotten his name... but he was trying to sell his ISF for a while but I think kept it as he wasn't getting the offers he wanted for it. Is he still around, and what became of his ISF out of interest? Cheers1 point

Hi Rich (and Sean) - sorry I forgot your names… you’re right the ISF is really unique in the Japanese car patheon and definitely isn’t mainstream. I love the weird and wonderful modded cars you get at these events. Not my thing necessarily (although in small amounts I do mod my cars), but it’s great to share time with people who share the same interest and passion (instead of the EV owners and non-car people I usually spend time with at work etc 👍🏻1 point

The one you need is a different part number to the 94-2000 LS400 so even if you have one for the MK3 it’s not the right one. Just buy the right one and have it fitted, they don’t cost ‘an arm an a leg’ and it’s probably goosed anyway.1 point

As far as I know the vlands don’t have any levelling motors. I could be wrong as I don’t have vlands so can’t be 100%. It’s all adjusted with mechanical cogs. Regarding the AFS, don’t pull the fuse but instead just disable the led in the cluster. It’s so easy to do and you’re not disabling other features by pulling out the fuse1 point

Is your photo dripping oil between the engine and gearbox I wonder. (Where the engine and gearbox join together) If so it may be the rear crankcase oil seal. If it is that oil seal it's an engine out job. The leak doesn't look that heavy or are you topping up regularly? Also is your engine a V6 which are great engines but the engine has a common oil leak from the timing cover where two mating surfaces meet. This video deals with RX oil leaks, it might assist you. This guy is a Guru on Lexus and Toyota cars. Brilliant Tech guy. The engine is used in Toyota and Lexus models.1 point

Battery problems are usually associated with low use and moreover following covid. We see this in our own little world but it applies to all brands. There was a definite problem with the Mutlu batteries but that may have been addressed in production. Time will tell.1 point

I agree...i wonder how people with SUVs manage daily driving. Everytime we go to the supermarket i see people with SUVs struggling to park between 2 cars. It always seems to be a tight fit. At times even the IS feels long and sticks out of parking spaces. For supermarket trips or around the city we always use the wifes jazz - its got all the features youd expect in a city car like dents, scratches, curbed wheels etc. Enough for me to not care if there is small new damage that doesnt impede its running.1 point

Thinking about what I have said I would imagine you can still play CD,s in another tray in the player but would lose the Bluetooth phone function until you select the tray where the SC430 mods disc is loaded. I never play CD,s any more so I confess I haven't tried it so can't verify if that is the case. Next time I go out in the car I will try it.1 point

You’re not really comparing apples to apples. The UX has just been upgraded to the 300h which now has a similar mk5 powertrain to the new NX so it has a power upgrade, bigger motors and far better fuel efficiency. It also has the same touchscreen and software as the NX. What car will encourage you to buy a Peugeot over a Toyota, they’re journalists not engineers.1 point

On the Vland instructions for the ISF there is a specific fuse that needs to be removed from one fusebox to "Remove AFS Error Code". By any chance do the instructions for your car require some modification to eliminate error codes ? Cheers...1 point

Hi Michael. Over the period of 16 months that I've owned my 400h I've noticed two stand-out factors that have a detrimental influence on mpg. One is use of E10 petrol (whilst I admit there is a cost argument involved, mpg is certainly higher when using E5) and two is constant use of A/C (turn off when not necessary to noticeably improve mpg). As for permanent AWD (which my 400h doesn't have) I believe 'yes', that will certainly have a negative effect on mpg. All that said, I only manage 26/27 mpg on local short-trip driving but that can rise to 30/32 on motorway long distance. Shall await with interest the response that you seek from Colin Barber 😉.1 point

Lex-Tek Autos in Sheffield have given me a really good quote of £550 to get the timing belt and water pump replied using official Lexus parts, so I am going to use them.1 point

Picked up some front end pieces. It slowly taking shape. Coilovers are going on this weekend if the weather holds. Android Head Unit is on order too, arriving next week. I went for the more OEM looking model this time. Also doubled up on the RAM (4GB. I had the 2+32 spec last time and I had no issues with smoothness of it etc, but I used it for about a month before I sold the green Lexus so I thought I'd future proof it a little with this one. Wheels from Japan should be with me at some in May and then it's more or less done.1 point

Thanks guys. I am no IT expert and my grandson helped me format the usb media outside windows and as suggested, FAT32 was the answer. Inside windows the formatting defaults to exFAT32. Now enjoying everything 😁1 point

In my view, Lexus are the luxury arm of Toyota with bullet proof reliability. Factory fitted standard items on a Lexus/Toyota Model cost c. 20% plus above list price when you compare any German offering with the equivalent spec yet their reliability is imperfect & the Trade ignores high-specced Audis et al. My LBX will be the Eco Equivalent of the NX450i I nearly bought, given the standard Michelin Tyres are no match for the NX AVS but I do save 23k. Tel1 point
