Finally picked up our new NX on Friday!!!! 🥳 👏 🙌 🥳 🙌 👏 🥳 🙌 👏 🥳 So happy to finally have our car! It’s gorgeous and everything we wanted 💗 Our dealership ended up throwing in a few freebies too, to compensate us for the order mix up, so that’s made things better too 😊 It brings to an end, what feels like a very long wait, for the car we ordered back in September 2022. Looking forward to enjoying everything our new car has to offer!6 points

Just one of the reasons why we went for the Premium Plus and not the Takumi NX350h. Things I don't need: - Self parking - Rear view camera - LCA - Much higher price...3 points

Came down it in a Rover P6 V8 automatic years ago. The brakes got red hot and failed. It was a scary experience trying to stop. There was no engine braking at those low speeds in the autos at the time.3 points

Lexus dealer once told me my tyre tread depth had increased from the previous year’s service 😆, so I second the visual guesstimate opinion. They also told me I needed a new set of rears, but the tyre size on their quote was for the fronts. Good job I didn’t “approve the work”. Off to a proper tyre shop I went.2 points

I’ve used it on our F Sport 450h but only to test it, I honestly can’t say it is something that I would want to use in normal driving conditions. As @Gaazzared mentions, I think you need ACC to be on then there’s a switch on the steering wheel which turns lane trace on/off. When everything is set the car will change lanes with the use of the indicator. That’s why I can’t understand the point of many of these gizmos, you need to use the indicator so why not just nudge the wheel a little at the same time? 🙄2 points

I am talking about any section that covers "Legal Assistance" for example for civil contracts etc. Often offered for matters not related to your home ,but up to a specified figure oft £100k. In addition, Vlad cam you offer factual evidence as to exactly what your loss of earnings was? If so, that part there should be no real argument about. The matter of pain etc is where it get's contentious so look for similar cases and awards. On the latter of course solicitors who deal specifically with personal injuries will already have a very clear idea on this as a 'broken rib' will be fairly common. Had one just once playing Rugby.2 points

I think this is progress of the RX model. My son has the RX350h, and overall I do like the vehicle. The software is up to date, and far better than my RX 450H, I some aspects. The new model does certainly seem to handle better, more nimble and has all the benefits of my RX, and beats me head on with fuel consumption at circa 45-49 mpg. It does however have a noisy trashy ( Briggs and Stratton) engine note if the engine is pushed in more harsh acceleration. The interior quality is Lexus, of new, but I don’t think on par of Lexus of old! The design I like, but it appears more commercially based to perhaps attract a younger audience. I think the difference between my RX450h, is that it’s a luxury time capsule, built for perhaps a different generation era, and that creamy V6, does sound much better when pushed. Yes, my tech is old and outdated, but, hey, I can live with that. I don’t feel at the moment, there is enough in the RX350h for me to want to change, but that opinion may be affected come insurance renewal time 🤣😂2 points

Yes. The first 50% of the battery lasts far better than the second half!2 points

And to prove it, last night's guess of 50.9 resulted in an actual 34 - I arrived home with the range just clicking over to 0 !!! There was two M1 trips of 8 miles each way and a couple of other short 'blasts' on dual carriageways, so different driving today but it's been 15 degrees F in Leeds today, so I've had my knotted hankie on my head and trousers rolled up to my knees. 😃2 points

As others have said, could be a simple reposition of the wiper arm but I would also check the pillar trim has been refitted correctly. Personally I would take it back the the workshop and get them to sort whatever it is. I'm surprised (or again perhaps not) they didn't notice when they did all the calibrations. I definitely would request the calibration certificates2 points

I doubt there was anything wrong with batteries replaced under warranty other than they had been deeply discharged and damaged that way - which is technically abusing the battery and really shouldn't have been replaced under warranty - although almost impossible to prove one way or the other and as you say are probably being replaced because it is easy and shows some good will. Most posts in this thread are for issues where people have been using accessory / ignition mode rather than Ready mode when sitting in the vehicle. This will drain the battery very quickly, it is small and the vehicle's electronics, heating/fans, side lights, audio system etc. do take a lot of power. There are at least 10 warning throughout the user manual for this: Auto power off function ● If the vehicle is left in ACC or ON (the hybrid system is not operating) for more than 20 minutes with the shift position in P, the power switch will automatically turn to OFF. ● If the 12-volt battery is low with the shift position is in P and the power switch is in ACC or ON (the hybrid system is not operating). The power switch is automatically turn to OFF. However, this function cannot entirely prevent the 12-volt battery discharge. Do not leave the vehicle with the power switch in ACC or ON for long periods of time when the hybrid system is not operating. To prevent 12-volt battery discharge, ensure that the hybrid system is operating while setting up the display features. To prevent 12-volt battery discharge Do not use the functions when the hybrid system is off. To prevent 12-volt battery discharge Do not use the functions when the hybrid system is off. To prevent 12-volt battery discharge Do not leave the lights on longer than necessary when the hybrid system is off. To prevent 12-volt battery discharge Do not use the USB charging ports for a long period of time with the hybrid system stopped. To prevent 12-volt battery discharge Do not use the power outlets (12 VDC) for a long period of time with the hybrid system stopped. To prevent 12-volt battery discharge When the hybrid system is stopped, do not use the wireless charger for longer than necessary. To prevent 12-volt battery discharge, ensure that the hybrid system is operating while setting up the display features. To prevent 12-volt battery discharge, ensure that the hybrid system is operating while the changing the settings of the head-up display. To prevent 12-volt battery discharge ● Turn off the headlights and the audio system while the hybrid system is off. ● Turn off any unnecessary electrical components when the vehicle is running at a low speed for an extended period, such as in heavy traffic. Charging the 12-volt battery The electricity stored in the 12-volt battery will discharge gradually even when the vehicle is not in use, due to natural discharge and the draining effects of certain electrical appliances. If the vehicle is left for a long time, the 12-volt battery may discharge, and the hybrid system may be unable to start. (The 12-volt battery recharges automatically while the hybrid system is operating.)2 points

Thank you, it was Tw@1 of a job tbh in the pouring rain. Of course a ‘dry’ garage with a 2 or 4 post lift would have made life a lot easier as with most jobs but where is the fun in that🤣 DIY mechanics on the drive with run up ramps, axle stands, pi$$ing down and not a lot of room to wield spanners is where it’s at😄1 point

I’m on 9.5j rims 255/35 19” Michelin Sport 4s and 10.5j rims 275/30 19” on the rear and to me it is a really comfortable ride on the standard suspension. I have an RX450h with 20” wheels and I would go as far to say the ride on the SC is much nicer and my wife agrees so it is not just me.1 point

Well………….went out this morning to put the car on the ramps and check the steering pump leaks. Car wouldn’t start, turned over ok but not fast at all with symptoms of a drained battery. I immediately decided to remove the steering pump, couldn’t take the risk of knackering the alternator. I suspect all the diagnostics of starting, going for a short run a few times and checking for leaks then leaving for 4 days have drained the battery. Of course it was peeing down but cracked on with removing the pump after removing the battery and putting it on charge - it took 6 hours to charge fully, pump is off the car now though. In theory removing the pump is straightforward but getting a good grip on the rear mounting bolts is a challenge due to getting a socket and ratchet on square without rounding the bolt head which I 100% did not want to do. Lower one was no problem but the top one took me an hour or so taking my time and needed a 1/2 breaker bar with 3/8 adapter and socket to crack it loose. All due to the access under the car on ramps, pipe work in the way and getting p1$$ wet through in the process. I looked at the alternator and it was dry with no signs of steering fluid in it all so I probably would have been ok charging the battery and driving the car until the seal kit and other stuff arrived, I didn’t want to chance it though. The pump…… The O ring on the reservoir connector has been leaking 100%, I could see corrosion on the pump round that area. My original diag where it is was leaking is also correct plus round the bearing and the flow control valve area didn’t look great. Car will be off the road until I get the rebuild kit and other bits for the pump. I didn’t document stuff cos of the urgency of the job but did take pics of where stuff goes for my benefit. What pics I did take are below. Area of corrosion under the bracket for the resavoir connector after cleaning up a lot with degreaser, carbide scraper and scotch pad. Before it was pretty bad to be honest.1 point

I was the complete opposite, proper JDM kid (kinda still am), the NeedForSpeed era of gaming got me early and hooked! I get more enjoyment looking at 'old japanese tat' as my dad calls it, than most modern stuff. I have recently discovered, I quite like my new dog-mobile which kinda came out the blue considering I was looking at Alpina/ BMW tourings... I bought a V70R!! 😂1 point

Well, I have no experience of it but it looks like a copy of the Ghost system. In fact, were I marketing it, I might even be tempted to do a comparative analysis if it actually had any competitive benefits over the Ghost. And if it hasn’t, then what’s the point of it? I actually like the premise of the Ghost system, but its detractors claim it is vulnerable to CanBUS attack. The Can Phantom doesn’t appear to address this problem at all. I can find no mention of how it defeats this method of bypassing its security. The other point that occurs to me is the repeated claim that they will ‘Guarantee’ your car against theft. What form does this ‘Guarantee’ take? What conditions do they apply? Will they replace a customer’s stolen car with a like-for-like equivalent? Or compensate the loss with a cash payment? I also think some costing examples would be useful. PS: Since writing the above, I have discovered a comparison in the blog section: https://www.can-phantom.com/post/can-phantom-vs-ghost-immobiliser-which-is-the-best-aftermarket-immobiliser-for-your-car-2023-2024 But it still doesn’t clarify how it is superior to the Ghost, merely claiming that it is. As it happens, they don’t have an Installer anywhere near me - and don’t appear to offer mobile installation.1 point

Regarding the service book. It is fine. Ask them to print down the service history for you. All the MOT hostory will also be there online more than likely.1 point

Stephen I don't think my house insurance covers such things. It's a fully comprehensive policy new for old and accidental damage one. Len I've been fully recovered for about 6 months. The solicitor email did pee me off massively but I'm over that now.1 point

Yes - I would agree, IS250 in itself is borderline alright, never felt uncomfortable with it's power, but never felt like it has "plenty" either, not the car which has "power to spare" in my opinion. So double the weight of the car and suddenly I think it would be rather underpowered, especially on low-end torque. Here is where diesel, or even better hybrid would be ideal. Yeah - I had unbraked figure ~600kg in my head. For braked as far as I understand you would need to somehow rig the connection for the trailer and car, I mean you would need to do it anyway for stop lights etc. but adding braking juts further complicates it. RX400h has about the same power from petrol engine alone (208hp), but electric motor adds another 64hp for total of 272hp, more importantly it add like extra 200Nm or torque from stand still, double that of IS250. In conclusion, I believe towing with IS250 is possible, but not recommended. Stressing that engine out probably would as well result in worse fuel consumption that larger car would get.1 point

Indeed and advising people to fit steering locks due to the security design flaws for a premium vehicle is completely unacceptable. They either retro fit Canbus encryption via a recall to ALL vulnerable vehicles or fit a third party immobiliser. They have sat on this long enough with no action.1 point

About 1 1/2 years ago I had seen advertised for sale a 2022 RX450H which was available to view at my local Lexus main dealer. I visited the dealership and went for a test drive in the advertised vehicle. The vehicle was an ex demonstrator model with low mileage, I decided to make them an offer for the vehicle. The vehicle was advertised for £54,000, I was prepared to pay £52,000.The salesperson who I was dealing with said "I cannot make a decision about the price without seeking approval from the sales manager." The salesperson returned after visiting the sales manager and said "the price that I had offered was below the cost price and the dealership would not make a profit". I walked away from the dealership and decided to look at all the costs for buying a new RX450H Mk 4. I gave Carwow all the details of the vehicle that I required, this would be to exactly the same specification as the ex demonstrator vehicle that I had wanted to buy from the Lexus main dealer. When all of the quotations came back to Carwow from the dealerships, I was quite surprised to see that my local dealership was offering a brand new RX450H for £50,000 ( £4,000 less than the ex demonstrator model they were advertising). I decided to buy a new RX450h via Carwow, they put me in touch with my Local Lexus dealership. I was so pleased to have purchased a brand new car for less money than an ex demonstrator model. I had noticed that the same vehicle that I had test driven at the Lexus dealership was still for sale 5 months later at a price of £50,000. I have learnt not to always believe a car salesperson, it far better to follow your own nose, and sometimes look away from main dealerships as they tend to keep second hand vehicle prices unrealistically high.1 point

By the way, I absolutely wouldn’t recommend turning it off ever as these late models have nanoe-x facility which does add moisture to the air. Leaving it controls the environment and you’ll never have misted windows by leaving it on.1 point

Hello, Sorry, is it me or do we only have engine and brakes section for LS 600hl? Anyway bought car 2 weeks ago and it has service from indy 2 months ago. It has 220k miles (mainly motorway miles) and is 13 years old. Anyway booked the hybrid batter health check with Lexus today and it passed with flying colours. I have now a 10,000 miles or 1 year whichever comes soonest warranty on the hybrid battery (stated on the certificate) . I think the car may need to be newer than 15 years old and mine is. Teh main thing is as long as the car is not stood still for weeks and is driven the hybrid battery will be good, we have Toyota Prius in the UK with 500,000 miles plus and still running fine. Peace of mind!1 point
